The…read morefirst one has injected botox and fillers into my aging face and the second has removed a plantar wart from my foot. It is a super difficult office to find on the first visit. The office is in the Town Square outdoor mall located upstairs from Egg'lectic Cafe. I was so cranky on my first search for that location. But, since then, I haven't had to wait longer than 5 minutes, for any appointment. No one likes to be late for work due to a long waiting room experience. I have "fired" doctors before for making me wait. Back to the services... I was 54 and had never had any cosmetic work done, so I was nervous. My primary care physician recommended Dr. Herrmann based on personal knowledge. My first appointment was an evaluation in which I was clear, "Don't make me look like I have on a mask; just make the wrinkles a little softer." Dr. Herrmann listened and advised. I returned for a few injections (filler and botox) to correct my hatred of excessive upper lip lines and deep frown lines between the eyes (he injected a little numbing agent first). The doctor also treated for a downturned mouth and thinning lips. The follow-up appointment was a little more botox between the eyes and over upper lip. Since then, I had one 5-month visit for botox. I added a before/after pic, because I wanted pics when I was so afraid of injections. And, I am not ashamed of getting real about aging. I find Dr. Herrmann and his staff to be good listeners, professional in their approach, friendly, and excellent communicators. Bridget has had to treat my foot 4 times (or 5). She is punctual, friendly, helpful, tries to be painless, informative, and pleasant. I look forward to her smiling face and direct approach to treatment.

The second situation involves patient abandonment over the fourth of July weekend - when a patient with newly diagnosed Stage 3 multiple myeloma was left entirely without pain medication for three days. Tried to get the Rx filled before the holiday without success - and the "on-call doctor" was "away from her computer" and suggested that he take Tylenol for his vertebral fractures. Stay away if you'd like to live.

(Wondering why my Primary didn't just do the covid test? They only do an antibody screen which would do me no good if I had an active infection.) Back to my review...I'm super frustrated so I'll do my best to leave my emotions out of it. 1. Ease of setting up an appt. This part was great and the person who scheduled me was kind and efficient. 2. My actual appt was fine, not the best,, but I liked the way they only let one person into the clinic at a time and the safety measures they had in place seemed really good. I did tell the staff that I needed to get the results to my employer as soon as they were available and I was told they could email them the results. They said they would call me with the results and then email a form to my employer. 3. My test was done Wednesday afternoon and I got the phone call on Monday mid-morning. Negative thanks goodness! I asked if I could get the results emailed to me and they said no. I asked if they could take a photo of the test results and text it to me and they said no. I asked them to email my employer and they said no that was not an option. I told them I was told that it would be done when I made my appt and again when I was in the facility getting my test. They said no because of HIPAA. The only way to get my results was via mail. Frustrated I just ended the call. Upon talking with HR at my company they said I could not return to work until I had an actual copy of the results to show them. An email or photo of the lab work would have worked for my company. I called the main office of VNA to see if there was any way I could get the results and they said I would have to set up a video appt to see a Doctor to get the results emailed to me and a form sent to my employer that I could return to work. So in order to get my results I would need to set up a paid appt to get them. This is after already paying 150 dollars to have the test done. They said the test itself is free but everything else was 150 dollars. But then I couldn't even get a hardcopy or an email of the official test results without paying for another appointment? That is WRONG in my humble opinion. I asked about the virtual portal for patients, their version of mychart for those that are familiar. They said I would have had to set that up when I was in the office. That was never offered to me when I was there. I asked them why I could not do it now and they said because I had to fill out a form in the office. I said they originally sent me e-documents to sign prior to my appt so why could they not do that now? She said no because of HIPAA. This is just unnecessary BS to deal with when not feeling well and trying to get back to work! My advice...skip this place if at all possible.

I have excellent insurance and coverage working for a reputed company. When your doctor asks "any concerns" do you expect me to say no?! Never had my activity or doctor changed in the method of me going for preventative visits. Online support for mychart is very cookie cutter. There is NO transparency (they have a sign stating something where certain visits may be billed differently)- but that does not account for the fact that 1.) why was I not informed to begin with what constitutes to billable charge 2.) what prevented you in first place from charging me HUNDREDS more when I wasn't informed of the exact details to begin with. I asked NM to reverse the fees, they tell me since service was rendered it's not possible. They refuse to correct the coding stating it would be "fraudulent" - ironically I'm the one that is a victim of fraud from a doctor here and northwestern hospital dressed as wolf in sheep's clothing. So my question- why wasn't I informed to begin with there would be charge so I could lie to my doctor and tell her I am fine or at least inform me details on what separates preventative care from what I discussed answering questions. You may want to rethink your website section About Us: Values · Patients first: Putting our patients first in all that we do... yeah I don't think so- putting money first. Be aware. Billing practices are unstable and concerning. I have been with northwestern for about 4 years same doctor I am looking for a different doctor and definitely not northwestern now. Ironically they refuse to waive almost $100 extra charge when my benefits paid them thousands from my surgery and diagnostics last year within NM. If you want to loose someone that made you thousands your team is doing well and keep it up! It took teeth and nails to get a phone number to their compliance department. Pretty interesting I asked the NPI number to my doctor and I was told I cannot be given it since the billing manager does not feel comfortable and I am told to "google it". Since it's public information I don't know how that crossed anyone's comfort level. BE WARNED. I have contacted my insurance company regarding this and they mentioned that there is a trend of this happening lately (coding related). I will be in process of looking into escalating this to illinois attorney generals office (health care complaint form) , Illinois Department of Public Health Office of Health Care Regulation and also medical board. My insurance has asked me to send them a message so they can monitor as well and forward to the liaison of the doctor involved for documentation to monitor and track patterns. Ironically I'm experiencing this and if the person below is experiencing this- all I can say is anyone going to this provider or northwestern- be warned.

" Thank you for choosing Northwestern Medicine as your healthcare provider. When you are seen for your annual preventative health exam and you discuss any new or chronic medical issues with your doctor, the insurance is billed for both the office visit and preventative health exam. This will register a separate identifiable fee which may result in the additional balance due from you. In the future, if you wish to make a separate appointment and come in to discuss other issues you will need to advise the physician the beginning of the appointment. The documentation supports the charge as there were three items discussed during this visit two of which were outside of the exam. You may request your medical records or discuss this with your provider if desired." So if you can google it don't ask your doctor unless you want to be billed for the answer...... FYI They did post a notice to this affect but I was asked questions and I answered the questions.... and got billed....

Ridiculous to pay a hefty charge for a question that the doctor probably took a minute to answer. The staff was caring, professional, and kindly, and did everything they *could* to make me as comfortable as they might... when I was evaluated by the Lead Nurse (? I might have her Title wrong), she got right to the point: they couldn't really help me. This is not A "Bad Thing", and nothing I would *ever* criticize them for - it's professionalism. They recommended I go to CDH ER, and offered to call me an ambulance - I decided to just drive the truck over there. Then, they equipped me for the trip, providing a bib and a clamp to help staunch the bleeding. (Those items ended up not helping much, but that's an issue between me and my truck.) Let's review their performance: * "Could they have done better?" - I really don't think so, given the circumstances. * "Was the Wait Time Excessive?" - Absolutely not. * "Was I treated by the 'right person'?" - I believe so. Her diagnosis and advice proved to be correct - I spent most of the following week at CDH. Summarizing: 1. Like ANY Urgent Care Facility, they are probably somewhat short-staffed. Think about this from a Business Perspective - as a manager, paying staff, would you want to spend your budget on "maximum staff headcount, 24/7/365"? Of course not! So, there will always be a wait. 2. While you're waiting, other patients with issues greater than yours will always take precedence over your issues, increasing the wat. That's called "Triage". I learned this a lifetime ago, watching "MASH" on the tube. 3. Remember that other people view Urgent Care as an alternative to Scheduled care. Witness another reviewer here, who commented "I can usually see a provider in 30 min. It's great for non-emergency care." SO - If you're cheesed about this facility, speak to her, instead. OR, speak to me, who ended up losing circa two liters of blood that day, and was in danger of bleeding out - we are the people who were in your Entitled way. In the end, Northwestern Immediate Care did / does its job: well, professionally and with compassion and care. Yeah - call me "woke".
