I went there for treatment of a severe nosebleed. Because of the bright red towel I was holding to my nose (blood!), my waiting time was minimal, and they got me back to a bay in about two minutes. The staff was caring, professional, and kindly, and did everything they *could* to make me as comfortable as they might... when I was evaluated by the Lead Nurse (? I might have her Title wrong), she got right to the point: they couldn't really help me. This is not A "Bad Thing", and nothing I would *ever* criticize them for - it's professionalism. They recommended I go to CDH ER, and offered to call me an ambulance - I decided to just drive the truck over there. Then, they equipped me for the trip, providing a bib and a clamp to help staunch the bleeding. (Those items ended up not helping much, but that's an issue between me and my truck.) Let's review their performance: * "Could they have done better?" - I really don't think so, given the circumstances. * "Was the Wait Time Excessive?" - Absolutely not. * "Was I treated by the 'right person'?" - I believe so. Her diagnosis and advice proved to be correct - I spent most of the following week at CDH. Summarizing: 1. Like ANY Urgent Care Facility, they are probably somewhat short-staffed. Think about this from a Business Perspective - as a manager, paying staff, would you want to spend your budget on "maximum staff headcount, 24/7/365"? Of course not! So, there will always be a wait. 2. While you're waiting, other patients with issues greater than yours will always take precedence over your issues, increasing the wat. That's called "Triage". I learned this a lifetime ago, watching "MASH" on the tube. 3. Remember that other people view Urgent Care as an alternative to Scheduled care. Witness another reviewer here, who commented "I can usually see a provider in 30 min. It's great for non-emergency care." SO - If you're cheesed about this facility, speak to her, instead. OR, speak to me, who ended up losing circa two liters of blood that day, and was in danger of bleeding out - we are the people who were in your Entitled way. In the end, Northwestern Immediate Care did / does its job: well, professionally and with compassion and care. Yeah - call me "woke". I subtracted a Star, just because they should have known about my nosebleed when it started, and came my home to stop it. Grrr. read more

TIP: the online estimated wait time is FALSE. In case you are planning a visit (deciding between locations), it's better to call. The live wait time online never changed from 25-30 minutes during my entire visit (i checked), and it took me two hours to see someone. As I sat in the waiting room, the website live wait time didn't update, but the nice ladies checking in were giving accurate wait times (2 hours). read more

I just took my daughter here as she is experiencing chest pain and after waiting 30 minutes in the room we left. Never again will we come here. My neighbor brought her 19 month old in for X-rays and got a diagnosis of a broken arm. They were told to go to CDH. Fine. BUT, WHY WOULDN'T YOU SPLINT AN 19 MONTH OLD'S ARM FOR TRANSPORT??? Her father had to put her in and out of the car seat with NOTHING holding her arm in place and the drive to CDH is not a short drive, especially with a toddler. WTF is wrong with you people? They told me to come back in two days to have my wound checked , so I did, but arrived at 7:27pm and they were already closed, though the website and the GMAP listing both said a closing time of 8 pm. I have to say I am impressed with the staff here. One of the nurses detected a heart condition my son had . We were in for something else and she said something was just not right and within minutes after an EKG , it was determined that he needed to see a pediatric cardiologist. We had no idea that he had this until it was detected here. I came in with a nauseous sensation I had for a week a while ago and was told to get to ER. I needed my appendix removed. Easy peasy! If you can do it, set up your appointment online and you will have zero wait time. I've come here MANY times over the years. Remember, I'm the Mom of 4 boys which means there have been several stitches, slings, casts and yes, incidents where they used glue (aka dermabond). This visit was a bit different as son #3 is now 20 and he was injured at work, so he came here to get checked out. My part in this adventure was to be sure they didn't bill our insurance. (My insurance now claims a visit here is the emergency room, so we don't come here anymore). He set up his appointment online, we walked in and went right to the registration desk. I was worried that we would get a run around due to the whole workman's comp claim, but they were helpful and thoroughly explained that while they would examine him, he was NOT to return for any followup work. Ok, thanks. Next stop was the examination room, talk to the tech and give him the symptoms, get the blood pressure taken, yada yada. Then saw a doc, x-ray tech, doc again, nurse for discharge and we were out of there in 1 hour. Everyone was caring, friendly and answered all our questions. This place really was a great option when I went down the list for medical treatment...1. doctor, 2. doc in a box (CVS), 3. THIS PLACE, 4. hospital. Now I have to reconfigure thanks to stupid insurance! If you are able, take advantage of this great facility. They even have a machine to dispense some prescriptions and save you that trip. read more

Do NOT go here to get COVID tested if you expect any sense of empathy or patient care!!! I was ordered a pre-procedure Covid test for ENT issues I was already having and this just made it WORSE! The lady who did my Covid test stuck the swab so far up my nose it hurt so bad and I immediately started to cry and went into a major panic attack when she said it needed to be in there for a full 10 seconds. While already having ENT problems, this covid test made it worse and I started getting awful chest pains as I was crying. Seeing how much pain I was in, (almost giving myself a heart attack), she showed absolutely NO empathy or patient care and yelled at me saying this is how it needs to be done. She tried holding my head against the car seat and told me to sit on my hands. I was so upset, and instead of showing compassion and care, she proceeded to say "I'm only a volunteer." Probably the worst health care experiences I've ever had at this place for the drive thru Covid testing. Staff was unfriendly, very unprofessional, and patients are ignored. I had to surrender my photo ID for them to walk it back somewhere, which is unsettling at best. They came up to me asking to verify my identity, only to tell me that they are waiting for the order. Then when I get under the tent, I'm asked to verify my identity (for the second time now) only for them to tell me they are waiting for the order and that I should pull forward. When I try to get staff's attention, I was completely ignored. The parking lot staff was too busy on his phone to look up. The woman doing the swabs was intentionally ignoring me, she came back when she was ready (after taking about 5 cars behind me) only to tell me that they already had the order. Never apologized for the mix up. Then came the NP swab, to which I was asked to verify my identity a 3rd time. Never once did this woman introduce herself or try to be friendly. She applied so much (too much) pressure that I instantly teared up and got a splitting migraine, and then counted to 10 despite my obvious intolerance for the swab. Never once trying to be empathetic -- she didn't even care. Then when I asked why it wasn't the throat swab, she claimed that it's "how my physician ordered it" and waltzed away from my car before I could even catch my breath to ask for her name. I am a health care professional and I understand completely all that we're going through. However, this experience was simply unacceptable. My main issue is the administration of the swab and the lack of customer service, I don't appreciate having my personal property being held hostage and being ignored. I will be sure to let my physician know that this facility shouldn't be used, as they did bring up other patient complaints as well. The very least the woman who was collecting the samples should be retrained in administering the swab and appropriate patient care. read more

The staff at this urgent care have always been compassionate and professional. Last year this clinic was vital in helping me get over COVID. The doctors and nurses have saved me many trips to the emergency room due to asthma attacks. I was a patient two weeks ago and they were slammed with sick people. The front office staff was amazing. The women who checked me in even gave me a ice pack for my injury and put my mind at ease ensuring me if I needed anything they would be there. The physician I saw was amazing and compassionate despite being extremely busy. Also the xray tech was professional and amazing! As a professional patient and health provider it's so important to thank the folks who provide our medical care. Giving it a 3 because the nurse was awesome and helped best she could. I sliced my finger and had to come in for stitches. The doctor was relatively new and his stitches were WAY too tight, unfortunately I didn't realize that until a few days later. The stitches caused more pain than the cut! Called my Insurance Co. before heading to Northwestern Medicine Convenient Care who assured me that my charge for Urgent Care Services is a simple $50 copay as a way to encourage people to not go to an emergency room for xrays and routine tests. I paid the copay at the time of visit. 2 weeks later NW mailed a rebate check to me for $50 the amt of my copay and sent me a bill for HOSPITAL SERVICE @ $1619.75!!! for an XRAY with $441.75 for an ADDITIONAL CLINIC FEE! My insurance company said they can't dispute it because it was billed as a hospital facility and not as an urgent care facility. Northwestern told my husband they are part of the hospital and not an urgent care facility. So my insurance won't pay. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

Was charged like I went to the emergency room. Thousand-dollar bill for a sinus infection and a nebulizer breathing treatment to see if I had bronchitis. They bill under Central DuPage Hospital and charge you their rates. Excessive charges! Not sure how they sleep at night. First off for the administrative and health care staff I would give 4.5 stars. The two star rating is for executive management of this "Convenient Care" clinic. A couple of weeks ago my son became ill almost over night. He woke in the morning looking peaked with a small temperature and a sore throat(as I researched online some the key and initial symptoms). With all of the stories in the news regarding this awful and deadly flu season I just did not want to wait for a flu test. To NMCC we went. All went well checking in and the initial examination from the nurse. The nurse did the typical questioning of symptoms, listening to his breathing, temperature, etc. Examined his ears and throat and found redness on his tonsils. She swabbed his throat for strep. After that I asked about the test for the flu. She told me "we don't have one"...What?! She thought maybe their ER rooms had them...maybe. We know of many families and friends that have taken their children for a flu test at their regular doctors and other urgent or "convenient care" clinics. This is a hospital, not a urgent care!!!! They will bill as hospital outpatient, which means you will pay more out of pocket from your insurance. If you want urgent or immediate care, please visit a non Northwestern Medicine facility. They are tricking people into thinking this is a urgent care. I called NM billing dept to resolve this coding issue on my bill and they told me you basically should have known this is a hospital because on our front door it says Central Dupage Hospital Convenient Care. Mind blown! If NM is reading this, no, I do not have a billing question. I've already called you guys to resolve this but to no avail. I'm sure the waivers I signed somewhere it must have stated this is a hospital but shouldn't that material information be posted in big letters as you walk in (or verbally reiterated and emphasized as we are getting signed in)? Both Yelp and Google have this facility tagged as urgent care. If NM is great at responding to these reviews, why not contact Yelp and Google and get the tags revised to say "hospital"? I currently have a NM doctor as my primary doctor, because of this experience, I will be switching my doctor to a non-NM network. Do not go this facility for bloodwork. They are now charging for bloodwork as if you were seeing a doctor at the Urgent Care. In fact, they are even fraudulently naming one of their doctors on the insurance claim they submit to your insurance company even though you never saw a doctor and your visit was only with a phlebotomist. They have discovered how to game the system to make more money and are doing it dishonestly. Don't bother talking to their billing department, they are part of the scam. Your insurance company can't help either as they are being billed as if you actually went to the outpatient clinic of CDH even though you saw no doctor. Try getting blood drawn at a place like Quest instead. I imagine it's the same with xrays and mammograms now so be careful or you will be billed for services you never received. Staff/care at this facility were great. We went here for a basic urgent care visit and were charged an additional "facility fee" since it's part of a bigger hospital. When I asked if my insurance covers the urgent care visit, they said yes, never mentioning the facility fee. It's really frustrating as now we have to pay an out of pocket charge that would not have been on the bill if we went to a different urgent care provider that doesn't charge a facility fee. I would be very careful choosing to go to the Wheaton location. It is never clearly disclosed anywhere (and is somewhat deceptive based on the name of the clinic "Convenient Care") that this is billed as a hospital visit. In fact, when asked directly, the front desk will tell you it is not a hospital visit, it is convenient care - which is not true! In my visit, the front desk staff made very serious errors in their explanations, and to be honest, unforgivable errors, based on it is their job to explain these things, that then can cost a patient hundreds of dollars depending on insurance. Additionally, after the clinic's error, the billing department is extremely difficult and uncaring to deal with. For me, instead of understanding the situation and trying to find a solution, they simply kept repeating "the form you signed" and didn't display any understanding of the situation at hand. I also sat for 45 minutes in an empty waiting room... This office gives Northwestern (which I would normally give rave reviews) a bad reputation. read more

Very Unhappy. I called them and drove to the Convenient Care in Danada and I arrived at exactly 8:28 PM with my son who had a fever for five days. The door was locked and I knocked the full staff were there. A nurse and another staff came out the side door. The nurse listened to me about me calling and coming there with my son who had fever up and down for five days and I was asking him to be seen. She told me she was sorry but I can not be seen as they are closed. I asked her again and reminded her of the time I got there and her closing early. She turned around and left us standing there. I told her I have been a patiient of their Hospital and Convenient care for 45 years and she walked away. There was nothing Convenient of Their Care! I later called the Hospital and spoke to a lady at Customer Relations. That was a waste of time she did nothing but say I am sorry that happened. Great Customer Relations! read more

Deceitful insurance billing practices. Daughter went to this "urgent care" on March 26 for strep throat. Our Insurance was billed as Central DuPage Hospital ER out patient visit which is $441.75 vs $40 copay. Called NW medicine and spoke to Don who assured me Central DuPage Hospital can bill insurance for NW Medicine Immediate Care facility as if it is an out patient ER visit at Central DuPage Hospital. If NW Immediate Care care center at 7 Blanchard Circle is charging insurance as a hospital, then their name and signage should indicate it is a Hospital and not an Immediate care. read more

I have gone here for years however lately even though the waiting room is empty (except for me) I waited for over 2 hrs. I was told there was an emergency why they couldn't help me. When I got to the back they were fully staffed and several people were on their computers and saying hi to me. While I waited I heard all about the office staff's movie reviews and thoughts about my husband's company when they saw my insurance card. Very disappointing. I have problems with having blood tests done. Previously, I 've called ahead and asked when the head of that department will be there because she was very good. I called today and got a difficult receptionist followed by a antagonistic lab worker. Insisted there had never been a 'head' of the lab so I must be the one who is wrong - - then how come I've done it this way for years? Finally determined the woman I went to had retired. When I asked who would be recommended for someone like me now, the only thing I got was a bad attitude. No help. No sympathy. I was told that everyone there was equally good. I explained I'd actually had a bad experience there previously which just caused the antagonism to escalate. So, I called DuPage Medical Group. What a wonderful difference. Listened to me, suggested just the right person for me and gave me her hours. I will Never go to Danada Convenient Care again. I want convenience but also a caring attitude. read more
