this simple, casual, delicious, and charming family-run taco operation really hit the spot.
ATMOSPHERE: they've turned what seems like an empty lot into a spacious dining patio with a food / grill station, picnic tables, benches, and yellow-white christmas lights that line the perimeter and give the place a warm feel. music over the speakers was loud enough to add a festive vibe but low enough to allow for a quiet conversation. 2 teenage cousins waited on the tables while mom and aunt and brother were cooking on the grill. our server was super polite and eager to please, and the 8 year-old (?) boy who delivered big trays of sauces and condiments to the tables was just plain cute.
FOOD: the tacos are small, come in 3s, and are served undressed (just meat) on plain or homemade blue tortillas. from there you do as you wish with the condiment tray, which included 3 sauces (2 green, 1 red), grilled onion, raw onion, cilantro, radish, and lime. the food was simple, customizable, and delicious. 3 tacos is enough to satisfy a small appetite; if you can eat a lot and are hungry, you might want to go with 9, 12, or even 15. (i wasn't famished when i went, but ended up eating 7 because they were very, very tasty! i could have finished the last two, but i prefer to stop when i'm comfortably sated, rather than pushing myself to potential discomfort.)
PRICE: if ordering regular tortillas, 3 tacos = 35 pesos; if you want blue tortillas, 3 tacos = 75 pesos. all things considered, a spectacular value! read more
