I love this AYCE BYOW sushi joint because of its location. So much sunlight ! An older fashioned styled ordering systems using pencil and paper as many other businesses have advanced to tablets. However, the quality of sushi is wonderful and well made. Fresh factor 5/5 . Service is fast and attentive to clients. The lunch menu has fewer selections than the evening menu which is a given because it's cheaper $28 per person. Great for group gatherings and events.

This AYCE sushi place really has the best service in all of Montréal. They are generous, patient and very understanding. I would suggest having a reservation for the weekend if you're going, as well as during the week, especially with COVID. The sushi variety is absolutely incredible and almost the same weekdays and weeknights. Everything is fresh, smells delicious and you'll probably try sushis you've never had before. Try their fried food as well, the tempura shrimps, aubergines, potatoes, etc. are all delicious.

Nutella sushi (but it's NOT nutella!) I do NOT recommend it haha looks good but tastes like pure rice

This is your standard all you can eat sushi! Nothing too crazy to report about it, the restaurant's vibe has nothing special but the foodd is good! The only problem with these restaurants is that the service is not great. They will forget who ordered what and if you go with a big group you better not get protective over your order because chances are it'll be served to the other side of the table, lol. I always get the gyozas, the rose salmon sushi and sashimis! All of their sushi is really greatt to be honest! It's a good place for groups, there's a lot of tables, and for stuff like birthdays. Another good thing about this plce is that it's BYOW, so drinks end up being more accessible. Overall, it's a great sushi place, you won't be disappointed as long as you don't expect amazing service as a group. Oh, and don't get the nutella sushi, it's weird and it's NOT nutella.

February 18, 2019 - This restaurant isn't far from where we are staying in MTL. When we got in we were greeted and seated in a few seconds. The decor was cute. It was a bit cold in there. The staff is wonderful 5/5 The food 3/5

Takumi sushi offers the biggest pieces of sushi we've ever seen We were so happy with the service that we got from the friendly staff But As we heard excellent reviews about it we were expecting more choice in the menu The price for weekend evening buffet is 29$

Great food. My husband and I could not get enough. At one point we were full yet our tastebuds werent satisfied. Intense flavour. Great sushi. Loved the desserts. Pearl of japan is a must for everyone except ofcourse the diabetic. I havent had enough of this place. If only they had parking, You wouldn't be able to keep me away. I still feel like my tiny stomach had betrayed me. I couldn't even taste most of the stuff. Definitely recommended. I give it 4 stars bcz of no parking. Otherwise you would have found me there everyday despite the price.

We tried this place for the first time today and we sure will try it again. Nice place, beautiful terasse and the service is great! I recommended it, plus compare to the other sushi bar you can take your left over back home! Win win!

Selections of sushi, spicy tuna was my fave

I had the pleasure of trying this spot last night and I was glad I gave it a chance. The service was incredible and the waiter was super helpful and took the time to explain the whole concept of the restaurant and items on the menu. It has a wide variety of Asian dishes and great sushi selections, from dumplings to sushi rolls and everything in between. Aside from the fresh selection of food, this is a BYOB so right there it's a plus in my book. There was a few items that were a little on the salty side bit everything was very good. They have a few deserts I suggest you try like the sweet bread and the pearl of Japan. Delicious. I can't wait for my next visit to try other fantastic dishes.

I have to admit that being a big good sushi fan, I occasionally like to eat at "all you can eat" sushi places too. Takumi was actually a pleasant surprise for many reasons. First of all, the place is very nicely decorated, I guess it was recently renovated. Secondly, the service is super friendly and attentive even during that busy time I visited the restaurant. And the menu has few original items that I haven't seen in other places before. My favorite thing on their menu is spicy scallop nigiri...simply delicious. Yep, I will be back there again!

Service was slow, portions very small for $50 per person. Quality was just so-so. No wine or beer. I would not return.

Once seated, things happen very quickly...it is go, go, go (in the best possible way.) We ordered appetizers first, the tempura green beans with a delicious truffle mayo, gyoza and the tofu salad (they make it fresh every Sunday). Green beans were everyone's fave, but I have to mention the (pickled?) vegetables on the salad. So flavourful! Also tried the egg drop soup which is so tasty. Mains were the salmon tuna bowl, the beef short ribs, the shrimp burger, and 48 hour pork with curry sauce. Everything was wonderful! Finished with their soft serve ice cream, I had the cherry blossom but one of us had the sake, which is a shot of sake poured on top. Amazing! You can even have wasabi or ginger... I'll try that next time (and there will be a next time soon!)

You can also order to go here I believe. They really operate efficiently, expect fast service! Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. I hope to eat here often, for years to come and am so happy to see this iconic Japanese restaurant still thriving years later.

I wanted to share my experience because their online and in person menu is quite ambiguous and doesn't do justice in explaining their tasting menus. What I really like about this restaurant is that unlike many, they don't make everyone order the same thing. It just requires a minimum of 2 people for the tasting menu and everyone else can order what they please otherwise. The $55 tasting menu is pretty worth it imo. The fact that a drink alone is about $17 as is makes it worth, because it comes with multiple tapas and a drink of choice. The server tried his best to explain everything to us beforehand, but we couldn't help but start to worry during the meal when a few plates came out and we hadn't seen anything for a while. Basically, there are 3 courses, and each course contains multiple items which come out pretty quickly all at once. We started off with lighter apps like edamame, karaage, gyoza, and Japanese pasta. There will be a waiting period before the next course comes out (but don't panic like we did, it doesn't end here). The second course contained tuna poke, a vegetable dish, beef tataki, and takoyaki. There is another waiting period before the third (and heaviest) course comes out. We received pork ribs (a crowd favourite), salmon, and a watermelon salad to end. There were definitely more dishes that I'm forgetting but by the end of it we were all stuffed and pleasantly surprised with the variety we received and unanimously thought it was pretty worth. The restaurant environment is also such a vibe... just a great social setting overall. We had some people in our group that opted out of the tasting menu and decided to share à la carte style, and they also enjoyed their meal and thought it was worth it too. I'd highly recommend this spot as it was a highlight during our trip.

We showed up on time for our reservation. The restaurant is dark, and sleek looking, so it could be a place for dinner or for drinks at the bar. We browsed the menu, and decided to go light and ended up trying the the following: - Edamame (with Furakake): Good. Soy beans can only be so different between restaurants. I will note that some of the soy beans we got were the biggest I've even seen. Furakake added needed flavour. - Avocado Truffle Tacos: OK. Quite tiny, but well made and tasted good. I didn't get any hint of truffle though. - Wagyu Dumplings: Good. But similar to any good quality non-wagyu dumpling I've had before. Overpriced. - Paradise Maki: Good. I like the texture of the tempura. - White Dragon Maki: Very good. I think the ponzu sauce elevates this dish another level. Service was pretty standard. Did all the tight things, and timely, but not particularly friendly. Overall, it was an OK visit. Food overall was generally good quality, but very expensive for the quality and quantity you get. But I also recognize that sometimes you pay for ambiance, and you certainly do here.

I stopped by around 8:45 PM, 15 minutes before they closed, but the staff were so kind and lovely, let me dine in, gave me a free drink on the house, and even told me to take my time and not worry about closing. I ordered the spicy garlic pork ramen with thick noodles, and I was blown away with how flavorful the broth and QQ (chewy) the noodles were. I didn't like the pork that much and found it a bit tough and gamey, but they do have two other types of meat (chicken, beef) as well as a vegetarian option available, as well as seasonal menu specials. The Ramen - noodles were perfectly cooked, however honestly package ramen had a better flavor than their Original pork ramen unfortunately. I had expected this rich and creaminess of the pork broth, that was sticky-lipped intensifying, but it was not. This was disappointing and thus can only give 2 stars. I can't say for other noodle type, but original pork ramen needs a lot of work.
