We spent a few hours at this bar and it really brought me back to my good ol' sorority days. Remember playing beer pong and doing keg stands in dark, dingy fraternity houses? Haaaaaaaaa. Let's face it, there's way too many bars in Hoboken to choose from. Tally-Ho isn't one of the best in the area, but it's not completely terrible either. If you can't already tell, it caters to a crowd of young adults/college students. I age backwards, so I don't care LOL. We came a little before 11pm on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded yet. As the night went on, it got more and more packed. When I say packed, I mean shoulder-to-shoulder packed. There are two bars - one near the entrance and one towards the back. They have a giant connect 4, Jenga, beer pong, and corn hole. It was dark and dingy in there. There's really not a huge amount of space, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a huge dance floor. We sat at the bar for some drinks. The margarita wasn't very good. It was too watered down and weak. Girl, I need my tequila!!! The Dark 'n' Stormy cocktail was made well; it was refreshing and spicy. They have a limited food menu which mostly consists of your typical greasy/fried finger foods. Service wasn't bad for the amount of people there. It was extremely busy and the bartender did the best she could to handle a large crowd. The DJ that night mainly played reggaeton and dembow, both of which I love. Wish he played more variety of other genres, though. Unfortunately I didn't get to dance as much as I wanted to because there was no room. So I had to settle for doing a few booty shakes and hip swings at the bar. ALSO... closer to midnight, the bouncers got rid of all the seats at the bars, which means everyone who was already seated had to stand all night long. WHY? Loved this place , the atmosphere here is so vibrant and positive , the girls and guys at the bar are friendly and welcoming , we just went to a few drinks so we didn't try their food . Never going back! Me and my friend were bar hopping in Hoboken and decided to give Tally Ho a try. After paying a $10 cover we went in to a dirty, dark, crowded smoke filled bar with instant regrets. To add insult to injury we ordered two vodka cranberry's and ended up paying $70!!!!! SEVENTY DOLLARS FOR TWO VODKA CRANS?!! What they don't tell you is that every order has a built in 20% gratuity and then they ask for another tip on top of that. While bar hopping Hoboken, again, the nearby bars had long lines so I decided to give this bar another go. While there I met an awesome bartender named Lyndsey whose energy made my night. Besides the ridiculously cheap drinks, she's pretty much my main reason for putting this place back on my bar hop route. This is absolutely a dive bar. It's not clean or pretty. At night it has wildly cheap drink specials until around 11pm, so it's a popular pre-game spot. And they have pop music blasting in true Jersey Shore form, which matches the crowd perfectly. Set your expectations right! Here you will end up around a college type crowd rallying to get drunk on the cheap. That includes the guys that don't know how to act when they see a pretty girl, or offer you a drink (even though it's just $3). Once the drink specials are done, people normally clear out. (I'm a big advocate for buying a pretty and cool girl a drink. Chivalry isn't dead ladies) They do still have that stupid "no ripped jeans" policy so they can discriminate against people at the door. Wow what a shit hole! Super dingy, dark, and dirty. You walk into a beer pong table in front of the entrance and a large Connect 4 game and Jenga (seemingly cool). Terrible location for it, but its the only thing they got going for a bar like this so they want to advertise it. However, this is the only good part of the bar. The bartenders are busy talking to each other or flirting with who they want so you won't get a drink unless you yell to them or wave your hand at them aggressively. The bar itself was sticky and looks like it's been painted several times, but never cleaned. Dive-bar vibes, yet NYC prices. The bartender started pouring House Tequila in my shot glass, but ran out half way. He had to throw out the half shot and proceeded to pour patron without asking and charged us $12 per shot. Tally is your typical bar. It has good drink prices, diverse music, good vibes, pong tables and a lot of TVs. On the weekends it does get really crowded so if you don't like to be it pushed around, stay away Friday/Saturday nights. I just recently started coming on Thursday nights because everything is half off!! Beers are like 3ish dollars and mix drinks are 4$. The deal cant be beat. For Thursdays, I believe its half off everything the whole day so I definitely recommend coming before the crowd hits around 10ish/11. If claustrophobia, playing beer pong with a ball that ends up on the dirty, alcohol-filled floor next to customers' open-toed shoes, and witnessing drug deals are your thing, then Tally-Ho is the place for you. The best place to stand is all the way in the back, if you can actually make it past the crowd to get there. That's where I witnessed an attempted drug deal go awry after the bouncers gave the guy the boot. Sure, this could have happened anywhere, and my hope was that it was a one-time deal. It's a bar what do you expect Kidding. My boyfriend and I usually go to Hoboken on Wednesdays. Tally ho is a nice, not packed bar on weekdays. Why would someone want a loud, packed bar... ever. On weekends like all the bars in Hoboken, it's a shitshow. The bartender is great and friendly. They spin a wheel of drink specials every 15 minutes on Wednesdays as well. We got two rounds of free shots thanks to that wheel last time we went. AMEN! They have games on the bar which is a nice touch. They also have tables set up with beer pong, who doesn't love some pong. They have beer pong tournaments once a month... fyi people take it very seriously! I don't know why, since I've been there a few times. I just discovered they have food.... so we ordered the Cajun friends it was only $7 and there was a good amount of them. Thank you Tally Ho for keeping my friend safe tonight. I've had some problems in the past with this place, and I've had some really good times too, but tonight the bouncer staff went above and beyond to protect my friend from a guy who was coming onto her aggressively! When I went to get a drink, this guy walked up to her, started dancing with her and touching her uncomfortably all in less than 5 minutes. She went to the bathroom to escape and he escorted her there. The bouncer strategically placed by the women's room (a white guy with a shaved head) said, "if you need help just say one word". She said "yes". She texted me to meet her outside the bathroom. As soon as she stepped out I confronted the guy and in like 5 seconds the bouncer kicked him out. We waited a few minutes, and my friend wanted to go through the back door into the alley for the off chance he was waiting outside for her. We told the bouncer positioned there (a black guy with an impressive beard), and the first thing he did was assured us that the guy was not coming back and wouldn't Bother my friend. He had someone to check if the creep was outside (he wasnt), and the original bouncer from the bathroom opened the back door for us and told us to have a good and safe night. Thank you for saving my friend! We will be going back frequently because the staff'sirst priority is to make sure everyone has a safe and fun night. read more

I'm not sure what all the negative reviews on here are for. I normally go to this place on weekdays after rec sports and I always have a fantastic time. Come to think of it, I don't remember ever coming here on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night which is probably when all the mayhem happens which leads to bad reviews. As other people have noted this bar is owned by the same company that owns the strongholds in Hoboken - Black Bear, Mills Tavern, and One Republik. SO they must be doing something correctly. On weeknights there is tons of room to spread out. There are tvs everywhere which makes it easy for a large group of people to hang out and not have to fight over the remote or bar space. There are beer pong tables, shuffle board, and corn hole / baggo. There are also other board/table games like shut the box, connect 4, etc. So there's a ton to do! I find in the summers it's fairly cold inside this bar, so if you tend get cold like I do, bring a sweater! While Tally-Ho itself does not have a kitchen, they have a partnership with Planet Mac next door. The menu is limited, but the food comes out in a timely manner. Tally Ho should not be blamed for any food issues - Blame Planet Mac instead!!! Staff has always been very friendly to me and my friends. I will continue to come here. And judging by the lines on the "prime nights," even the bad reviewers continue to come as well. read more

Stopped by on a Wednesday night evening while trying to kill time. I was able to eat a meal ($0.25 wings) and two draft pints (1/2 off everything happy hour) for under $8. And being the bargain hunter I am, I was very happy. The bar is large and spacious with plenty of seating and room for game tables like shuffleboard. Bartenders were very friendly, food and drinks were served quickly, and there were plenty of tvs to watch whatever game you were interested in. Went to tallys last night for their half off promo which I have been attending for about a year and a half. The promo is great, real bang for your buck - what I don't appreciate is the sexual assault And harassment that comes with it. Like I said I've been going to tallys for about a year and a half and maybe 50% of the time I get sexually assaulted. Last night some guy slapped my ass and I still got kicked out for defending myself. I really wonder what goes through the bouncers thoughts when they see a 5ft girl arguing with a 6ft 5 guy. It's honestly such a shame because college kids come here to have fun then it mixes with the creepy "adult" crowd of men that have never learned manners on top of lackluster security - I wonder how the management reflects. From the moment we were standing on the line we were getting many dirty looks from the bouncers. One bouncer in particular charged us a dress code fee, mind you I was just wearing jeans with one rip on the knee. Once he told us the $20 fee we stepped back to access the situation to see if the bouncer was serious. Few minutes pass by and we see white males go in with jeans more torn up than mine. This is a tough review for me. My beloved $1 beers have faded away into the past with the old Bahama Mamas and it will be dearly missed. Tally-Ho had some big shoes to fill. I fight the urge to rate them with 3 or 4 stars, let me tell you why. Bahama Mamas had a classic, shitty design everyone loved. Tried and true that place had survived the test of time and that place was always packed. When first coming into this bar all i could think when i saw the big flat screen TVs and $6 beers was "wow another classic cookie cutter bar on Washington". There was nothing special about this place. With that being said, i have been back here every time Ive gone to Hoboken. I usually take the early train in and at 9:30 all the bars are still pretty empty. Here they have beer pong and a shuffle board table which is so much fun. this is usually our pregame spot becasue of the games. The bar is very clean and refinished nicely compared to how it was. I like this place a lot and i will be a regular customer. The only thing i could suggest is get some drink specials going. Certain shots or beers discounted at certain times or something. Went here Saturday night with a group of friends. The place looks small from the outside but when I walked in, I was amazed to see just how far back it actually goes. There is a open area upon entry where patrons just hangout & talk. The front bar is to the left & it stretches down near the dance floor (which is of decent size) in the back. All the way in the back of the place is the back bar. The DJ on this particular night was playing some club music, current music, as well as early 00's hits. This place is dimly lit in the front & near the dance floor they have different lights to enhance the dancing atmosphere. My friends & I stationed ourselves at the front bar for the majority of the night. Service was good throughout the course of the night as we were able to order drinks with ease. The one issue that we did have however was when it started to get packed a bit, many people passing by the bar to go to the back were bumping into us, which can get very annoying after a while. Also, to get to the bathrooms or the back bar, you have to go through the dance floor, which is very crowded at times, so that can be a struggle. Tally-Ho is located where the former Bahama Mama's used to be. They did a really solid job sprucing up the place. It's much nicer and cleaner. And there are even wood floors. Huge improvement! My husband and I went to Tally-Ho yesterday afternoon to watch the Giants game (or should I say debacle?). When we walked in, we were promptly greeted by the manager. He was super friendly and really was seeking any sort of feedback. He thoroughly wanted to make sure that his patrons had a good time in his establishment. Awesome customer service! We took a seat at the back bar and were served by Amy. Very sweet bartender who made sure our beers were always full. Whenever they were half empty she refilled them from our $9 pitcher. For football games, they offer $9 pitchers of Bud Light, Coors Light, and Yuengling. That was a nice deal. The manager made an announcement that the next group of people to get their friends into the bar would get a free round on him. So, I texted my friend. She entered the bar at least an hour later, but the manager came up to us and said, "I'm a man of my word. You're the first ones to get your friends here, so this one's on me." Awesome! They offer cool raffles during the football games (t-shirts, Giants jerseys, etc). There was also a free round of shots for the entire bar. It was a peppermint and schnapps house combination. Tally-Ho doesn't have a kitchen, but they have an arrangement with Planet Mac which is next door (they have a side door connecting the two establishments) to serve food to their patrons. They have a wing special on Sundays for $3. You get 5 large wings with carrots, celery, and blue cheese. Great value! I got the BBQ sauce and liked it. We also ordered the Classic 3-Cheese Mac (with grilled chicken). It was served in a cool skillet, nice and creamy. Since the food is from Planet Mac, you can't add it to your bar tab, so plan accordingly and bring some cash. The bathrooms were covered in graffiti. I think that it was intentional though. I'm not a huge fan of that. Also, the woman's room didn't have a mirror. You might want to invest in one. Us females like to check our hair, makeup, etc... Overall, Tally-Ho is a cool bar. We had a great time and will definitely be back to watch another sporting event soon. read more

I had a bad experience here last night. I went with my girl friends and I was stopped by the bouncer. He said they have a dress code and I was wearing (fashionably) ripped jeans so I'm not allowed to get in. But the bouncer did ask me to pay up $20 if I really wanted to get in. My girl friends went in ahead and proceeded without me, and they told me that the people inside were wearing really casual clothes, some even just t-shirt and denim shorts with tights for girls. So they thought I was discriminated against, because VOILA I'm gay. I've read other reviews after my experience and it turns out mine is not an isolated case. I'm never coming back. This is your typical college bar. The drinks are cheap and the dance music is usually good, but the floor ends up covered in beer, it can be pretty crowded, and the bouncers are often on power trips. The crowd is probably one of the youngest in all of Hoboken. I usually have fun here, but you have to know what you're getting into. My favorite though, is going early on half-priced Thursdays, having a beer, and playing the corn hole they have set up there before it gets crowded and dirty later in the night. read more

Unfortunately tonight we had an awful experience here. The bouncers claimed their is a dress code past 10PM in regards to gentleman wearing ripped jeans. Prior to our entrance (which was after 10PM, and we watched these things happen) into the bar several other gentleman entered with ripped jeans prior to my friend. Their policy is gendered which is discriminatory. It frustrates me to see this exist at a bar I used to enjoy. Their dress code and bouncers adhere to a code that has gender bias to create problems that are unnecessary. They then treated my friend unkindly as I explained the situation. Friday evening, after work attempted to go here with two black males (age 30+). Mind you both had come from work in their casual Friday outfits: darker denim jeans and polo shirts. I will never be back. Went with a few friends and sat at a table. We ordered four bud lights and a mixed drink. Took 45 minutes for the waitress to bring back that order. We immediately ordered the same round of drinks in the hopes that it would come by the time we were done drinking the first round. It took her an hour to bring the second round. Over the course of 3-4 hours we only had 3-4 drinks. It took 40 minutes for her to bring our check after we asked. She was incredibly rude despite the horrible service.
