This is a fabulous spot for dinner! The portions are unbelievably large for the moderate pricing which is also nice. We ordered the Bison Maytag Marsala Mushroom and the Bison Skirt Steak. Both were enormous portions and absolutely tasty as can be. The pasta was so rich and thick and the killed with notes of cream and deep blue cheese. The skirt steak was expertly prepared and was served with a nice side of potatoes. Then we ordered a stick toffee date cake which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a generous sprinkling of pink sea salt to perfectly offset the sweetness. This food was fabulous! read more

This place has fantastic service. Our server was pleasant and professional, as well as very attentive. The coffee is really good--smooth, not too acidic. I was actually pretty surprised. We had breakfast here, we had to wait outside for an hour so I would definitely recommend making a reservation before you go! The buffalo hangar steak and eggs was delicious! For a small town like Rapid City, the menu is probably a little on the expensive side; but definitely worth it. The service was perfect, so friendly and prompt. I had Chicken Fried Steak with eggs and hash and eye toast, 100% good on my end. My girlfriend had the biscuits and gravy and found them delicious, even with the gravy not having any sausage on it. Went here for breakfast this morning! Our waitress was not very friendly. She muttered a few words to us and was not very attentive. We ordered the cinnamon French toast with eggs and sausage. We also ordered eggs Benedict with hash browns. The mimosas were great while we waited for the food. They were a tad expensive at $9 a pop, but came with a jar full to continually refill the glass. When we got the food we were painfully disappointed to realize that all of the food was luke-warm or cold. Eggs would've been good if they were remotely warm. The reason this business gets four stars from me is because the cinnamon French toast was the best French toast I've ever had. The French toast was still hot, which makes me think that the rest of our food got cold waiting for the French toast to cook. And I must say, it was delicious, it almost made me okay with the cold eggs and sausage. Hopefully bad service and cold food was a fluke, and would love to return for more of that glorious French toast. read more

The migas were spicy and delicious, a mix of flavor and texture. I enjoyed the interior. The service was ok but not spectacular, I felt like they were too busy (understaffed?) so not particularly waited on. Still came back though and tried the bison pasta. We tried this place based on google search for good restaurant in downtown rapid city. It is easy to find, close to public parking which is good. We got there aepund noon but they still serve breakfast until 2pm. Our server was ok, not the best we ever have. We waited for our food for quite a while. Great breakfast/brunch spot! They've got everything from your basic meat, eggs and potatoes to duck confit. I ordered the Migas (egg and chorizo bowl) and loved it! I usually find a scramble to be a bit bland with everything blending together but this was not that. The chorizo was plenty and had a good spice, the veggies were cooked to perfection, and the green chili...yum! Did I mention the tortilla strips? Excellent service, probably the best in rapid city. Food was cooked perfect. The atmosphere of the diner was exactly that a diner, but it was very clean. Since it was a diner atmosphere, you could get loud and have a good time. Dined with family, but would bot hesitate to take my wife here for a date night. Being it's so close to everything down town it's probably the perfect place for such an event. If you ever arrive here for just coffee and chit chat, be sure to at least have one of the desserts. I have now been at Tally's for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I've yet to have a bad experience there and always get someone who is knowledgable, friendly and professional. The food has been amazing! This last outing, we were out with friends. A slip of a tray sent mussels spilling on the floor behind my friend and one landed on his back. They cleaned up the floor and contents apologizing profusely. Brought him a full glass of wine and offered to dry clean his shirt if the stain doesn't come out. Breakfast on 5/30/3017: Service was tremendous. Multiple waitresses, servers, and chef's helped to deliver food, smiles, and coffee! Can't say enough about how good service. COFFEE! I like mine w/ milk. My server didn't even blink - brought cup of coffee and left room for the little caraf of milk for my coffee. PERFECT start! Meanwhile - I ordered a chicken fried steak, two eggs over easy, hash browns, and wheat toast. The serving size was humongous, and very aesthetically pleasing. I was jacked up!! Then I cut into the chicken fried steak. It was fried nicely, but basically - overdone. Everything else was perfect, and the toast was on a really good loaf of bread. Didn't need butter or jam and cleaned up my eggs nicely. I'd go back in a minute to give other items on the menu a try because of the great service. Rapid City continues to surprise me! Great downtown vibe, eclectic arts and shops and restaurants, very walkable! But, best, by far, was our visit to Tally's Silver Spoon. We were looking for a great, relaxing dinner and happened to walk in here! First look is a bit odd: small, diner style place with limited seating. We were seated at a two-person table near the kitchen and could watch the chefs and staff preparing everything. Our waiter, Nick, served us so well! We were there just before 6:00 pm and had the BOGO drink special! Then the food: just extraordinary! He had the rich and smooth Mushroom Brie soup and I had the house dinner salad to start. Both were excellent served alongside hot crusty bread with a light lemony olive oil mix that melted in your mouth! For the main course, he had the Buffalo Burger that was just delicious. I had the Buffalo Peru: Mocha tenderloin, banana polenta, truffle ragout, arugula, tarragon.....each bite was better than the first! All the flavors were exquisite and matched well! The tenderloin was cooked medium rare, and was juicy and flavorful and so tender! To top off the evening, we shared the Whiskey in a Jar dessert! It was a glass jar filled with a rich chocolate cake/brownie and chocolate fudge sauce all laced with delicious smooth whiskey, served alongside whiskey ice cream and a chocolate Pirouette. Every bite of our meal was delicious, Nick was a perfect waiter, there when we needed him, away when we didn't, the entire wait staff were professional and quick to serve, the building was comfortable and clean, street parking was free......we cannot wait to return to Rapid City and eat here again! Meals were filling and very well portion. Eggs benedict was served with hash brows. Server informed us of happy hour specials for our next visit. We came here on the 4th of July after having tried to eat in Deadwood and realizing that the entire town was a tourist trap and the restaurants were casinos. We were very impressed with Rapid City and wish we had stayed here instead of the State Park. We got to town a bit late for lunch on the 4th and some places were closing. We were lucky to find this restaurant still open. I ate a buffalo burger which was super juicy with great fries. When the hotel concierge described it as "the place where they tell you which farm the cow came from", I knew we had made the right choice. The vibe of the place is a little too hip for me, one half midtown coffee shop and glass and chrome art space. And I got the feeling they were trying too hard, a lot of foam and foie, sweetbreads and tartare. I was wrong, so wrong, thankfully. Dinner started with a look at the winelist, and among a number of fine selections was a bottle from a tiny family winery that I've never seen on a restaurant list before. We ordered it, and on tasting nearly told the waitress to forget putting the food orders in, and just to bring another bottle (their last) instead. Nutritional values aside, I'm glad we didn't. The food we were served was fabulous. Locally ranched Bison, farm fresh carrots and squash, a bright and vibrant chimichurri, and with the beautiful and wonderful aged Napa Cabernet, just glorious. I took a few weeks off this fall, and a driving tour of 1/2 a dozen states in the Midwest. This was the best meal of the trip, and one of the very few I would ever go back for. Top knotch. read more
