I wasn't sure about stepping into and ordering lunch from what is clearly a tourist trap, but we were pleasantly surprised by the experience. My buddy and I were just off a long motorcycle ride, and after seeing the hilarious gunfight next store our stomachs were growling so we stepped in. He ordered the loaded nachos, and I had an Indian Taco on fry bread. I know, I know; it's no longer politically correct to say 'Indian' but somehow 'Native American Taco' just sounds worse. Both meals were generously portioned and the ingredients fresh while the price was right. The restaurant was well staffed, dark and cool, which was just what the doctor ordered for a couple of weary travelers. The bathroom was surprisingly large, and impeccably clean. It was just a quick stop for lunch but it was well worth it.

The kids looked good and the food sounded good

waitress was kind food was great and it was so fun to talk and enjoy the time!!!!!! and this is why I left at five stars waitress was the nicest and it was a very good restaurant. I say you should come and most of the bad reviews were lies.

There's not much to say other than this restaurant was extremely average, and I'm only saying that because I did enjoy the few bites of chicken fried steak I tried. The prime rib sandwich honestly sucked, tough, chewy, not much flavor. Fries seemed almost undercooked? Not sure. Onion petals did have fantastic breading and were delicious!

Chicken salad, very good and she who ordered loved the chicken.

On vacation with friends in Keystone and we wanted lunch and this looked interesting from the outside so we went in, and the restaurant had amazing atmosphere on the inside, all over the walls and more, just fascinating to look at. Karla was a good server in taking orders and understanding when people asked to add or subtract something from what is on the menu. Overall our table liked their food except for the fish & chips, which were a "C," just nowhere as good as the same dish ordered elsewhere during our South Dakota trip. Having shared that, we all would recommend this restaurant to those visiting Keystone.

We had dinner here on a Friday early evening. Pre-Dinner Drinks: Pineapple cider (delicious) and an Old fashioned made with Bickering Brothers (delicious). I have to note that the drinks were CHEAP: the pineapple cider was $4.50 a can and the Old Fashioned was $7.00 (unheard of!) Appetizer: Onion Petals with ranch dipping sauce - They were OK Entrees: Country fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes and a cup of broccoli cheddar soup - The steak was good, the mashed potatoes were a baked potato smashed with a fork (not great) but tasted fine, the soup was tasteless - Overall OK New York strip steak with baked potato and a cup of broccoli cheddar soup - The steak was good, the mashed potatoes were okay and the soup was tasteless - Overall OK Drinks: Stella draft beer and Tickle Me Rhubarb wine ($6.50 a glass!) - I recommend the rhubarb wine, first time trying it and it was different. The servers were good, the bartenders were friendly (one of them a bit pushy trying to get people to buy more drinks) and the ambiance was alright. The red walls filled with the framed painting are a vibe, just not mine LOL The bar and the restaurant, although housed in the same building, are different, so you will receive two bills at the end of your meal, one from the bar and one from the restaurant.

The food could have been better. I ordered the bison stew in bread, but it didn't taste fresh. The bison meat inside tasted strange, and the stew itself was bland. I wouldn't recommend the food here. My partner's steak was also undercooked and not very flavorful. The ambiance is reminiscent of an old saloon with red velvet walls and carpets adorned with numerous portraits. It gives off a haunted house vibe.

Came here at recommendation from our hotel team as a place for a good steak and nice atmosphere. There was a 15-minute wait which wasn't a big deal as they're a ton of shops and parlors lining the street to walk around. They give you a beeper to let you know when the table is ready. I ordered a Bourbon Ribeye steak cooked Medium Rare and it was quite rare, I'd argue Blue rare. Be sure to check your meat and maybe go up a preference. The bourbon sauce was good but sweet for my taste, and overwhelming as the steak was covered in it. I'd suggest ordering your sauce on the side. Broccoli was fine. Steak was a sizable 16oz We were seated in the main dining area which was very traditional American west themed. Service for the most part was fair. Overall, not my favorite place but can see why people recommend it. Yelp Elites should probably look elsewhere.

Nice old restaurant on the Keystone boardwalk. Our waitress was very friendly and recommended the buffalo ribs. They were delicious. So tender, fell off of the bone. Reasonable prices especially for a tourist area. Some interesting old pictures and artifacts on the walls to look at while dining. Bar service was from the saloon next door, so if you want an adult beverage you have a separate server and bill. They come right to your table though, so it's not a problem at all. I didn't snap a pic of my ribs, baked potato and salad, but took a couple of the walls :)

Maybe it's because it's off season, but I've been disappointed by the cuisine available around Hill City and Keystone. Ruby House is popular. On a Friday, party of 2 had to wait 15 minutes. I tried the buffalo stew in a bread bowl, and it was delicious, savory, with potatoes and corn, onions and other yummy things that go in stew. My husband had the 8-oz prime rib that came with a fresh salad and potato fries. He said everything was delicious. The fries were light not greasy and heavy. We did not have any adult beverages, but the bar next door looks like fun with live CW music. Recommend

    Buffalo nachos supreme

We stopped in while visiting the area and appreciated the effort put into the Western-themed decor -- it definitely adds to the atmosphere. As for the food, it was a bit of a mixed experience. I ordered the Smokehouse Chicken Sandwich, but unfortunately the chicken was chewy and rubbery, and the bun was quite soggy. The Reuben sandwich was just okay, though the bread was also soggy and the sauce had pimentos, which weren't my favorite. On the brighter side, the sweet potato fries were delicious, and the buffalo nachos were tasty, though the cheese had a noticeable spicy kick. Overall, not a bad stop, but some of the food quality could be improved.

The location is…read moreconvenient -- right inside the monument -- but convenience and the view are about the only things going for this place. We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak ($18), a Cheeseburger ($17.50 + $0.75), and the Grilled Chicken Platter ($14.50) for our kid. Total came out to $54.50 for three people -- which, okay, it's a tourist spot, so I expected to pay a premium. What I didn't expect was to pay premium prices for food that felt like it was barely tried. The Philly was overcooked and dry. The meat was dark and tough -- no juiciness, no flavor. For $18, that's just not acceptable. The burger looked decent but tasted flat and underwhelming. The Grilled Chicken Platter for my child was the most disappointing -- it's listed as "grilled" on the menu, but the chicken came out barely touched. Pale, soft, almost like it was steamed and then given a quick pass on the grill just for looks. The mashed potatoes and corn on the side were fine -- nothing special. I'll give credit where it's due -- the ambiance is genuinely great. Eating with a direct view of Mount Rushmore is a cool experience you won't get anywhere else, and the dining area has a nice open feel to it. Service was also okay, no real complaints there. But when you're spending $54 on a family meal and every main dish misses, the view only carries you so far. If you're visiting, pack your own food or eat before you arrive. You'll thank yourself later.

Fortunately it moved fairly quickly. Service was efficient and friendly. The decor is pleasant, kind of a purple Victorian farm house feel. The crust was flaky and sweet and might have have sugar and cinnamon baked in the top crust. Delicious! The peanut butter pie was also great. A soft, light peanut butter filling in a flaky crust. Yummy! The apple pie was the star of the show for me this visit. I can't speak to their ice cream or other offerings. But it looks like they offer lots of savory items as well as coffee drinks. But nobody comes for that anyway because the menu had like 3 things. 2 sizes of filet mignon which they promote being the cheapest which they are or pasta primavera which was a huge serving and looked decent. Should've opted for the larger one but as we age we just aren't eating that much. The meat was dry and overcooked, Easily the worst filet mignon either of us has ever had. The waitress was not rude though not welcoming or friendly but mostly just slow, both mentally and physically. Something about the area in general is they don't offer much if anything in the way of vegetables with meals. A problem for some health issues. Here we saw a couple order the pasta with 2 steaks and picked the veggies out of it. On the whole a very disappointing experience to end an otherwise wonderful trip.
