The outdoor seating was nice and had a great view overlooking the golf course. The staff was accommodating about making small changes to menu items, which we appreciated. We ordered the charcuterie board and honestly got way more food than expected, so it felt like a great value. We attended Mother's Day brunch, which we have attended in the past and had no issue (with the same group of people). The food and ambiance were great as was our waiter. Our only issue this year was that there were only 2 foods that one of the minors in our party liked and could eat due to food allergies. The parent asked staff in one of the buffet areas and was told that food prep would include one of the unsafe foods. So we had a child in tears and hungry. read more

Our Red Hat chapter met at Talons for a monthly luncheon. There was some mix-up about our group coming on a day when the Golf Club had a large tournament. Even though I made the reservation in person and called two days ahead to re-confirm, no one alerted me to the forthcoming "crowd" situation. When we arrived, it was obvious that seating would be an issue. However, the manager found a solution and we were able to sit together in a smaller corner alcove. It was tight, but doable. The food was excellent, despite the pressure that the kitchen must have had, and everyone enjoyed the dining and the meeting. Brunch means different things to different people! To me, it's decadence, yummy food, great atmosphere and top notch service. This didn't meet that for me. Its a beautiful venue on the golf course, overlooking the putting green. We had a nice high top table. Our server was really accommodating and nice, but since she was new, lacked a lot of overall information. TIP: You are not allowed to order anything other that what is on the brunch menu until 1pm. There were three of us, we all ordered spicy Bloody Mary's, one of us got the veggie scramble, another the breakfast bowl and another, the breakfast burger. None of them come with anything, including cheese. The food was...spare. And just shy of being good. It's like each needed just a teeny bit more to get them to good. I was the one who got the breakfast bowl. It was over diced potatoes which were seasoned well but no texture. Everything was just mushy. The burger was cooked well but was just a plain burger in the middle of a plate. Just nothing special about any of it. Additionally, the patio was weirdly hot, it periodically felt like hot air was blowing on us. And before you get snarky, yes we were outside, but I'm from Florida, it wasn't the outdoor hot, it was focused forced air hot. Also, even though the website recommends reservations for lunch, I left two messages, sent an email (it bounced back) and got no reply so we went in person on Wednesday to make reservations for Sunday and we're told we didn't need them. Now it makes sense to me, it's not a place you clamor to do brunch. It's more of a"we live close by so we may as well". Nothing to really go out of your way for. read more

I booked reservations for dinner. When we got there, they took us to a table outside on their patio. The table was in 100% direct sunlight. It was unbelievably hot. I was sweating before we even got to the table. There was no mention of us being seated outside when I made the reservation. It is summer in Florida. That is something that should be mentioned. It is not an unreasonable expectation. Quite the opposite. I cannot fathom that they did not feel like this was important to tell us. Even under normal weather conditions, it is standard for establishments to tell you if you will not be sitting inside. At most places with various seating options, you can select your choice, such as outside patio, inside bar, or inside dining. However, if they plan to seat you in a location other than the standard interior dining, they should let you know. They did not. And they were completely unwilling to relocate us to somewhere else, even someplace still outside but with shade cover. And there were available spots like this. There was no way we could have sat where they wanted to place us without being completely miserable, so we left. This was a very disappointing and frustrating experience. read more

First, the service and food quality is that of any casual dining restaurant with great sandwiches and a menu with something for everybody. The outdoor seat is pleasant during the summer evenings overlooking the scenery of the course. Indoor is very nice weather in the bar or dining room. Aiden was our server and he could be any place like a Capital Grille or Morton's. His customer service skills are better than most servers today in restaurants I mentioned earlier. We recently visited Talon's restaurant in Fleming Island with a friend and had a wonderful experience. We decided to sit out back and enjoy the beautiful golf course view while sipping on drinks and smoking cigars. It was the perfect ambiance for a relaxing afternoon. Decent menu with specials. We started with some cheese sticks that we devoured before we could take a picture. I ordered the Asian Spice wings, and they were delicious! Our server said it was one of the newer flavors that was a cross between their Hawaiian and their hot siracha. The perfect amount of spice, flavor, slight sweetness. My friend ordered the red fish sandwich with sweet potato fries and loved it. The fish filet was tender and seasoned well, and the sweet potato fries were perfect with their sweet dip that came with it. What we enjoyed most was the atmosphere. The patio area was spacious and has a nice awning for staying out the sun or rain. The view of the golf course was stunning. We felt like we were in a different world, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The service was also top-notch. Our server, Aiden, was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. When you get the bill he has so many different colored pens to choose from. Overall, I highly recommend Talon's restaurant for anyone looking for a great dining experience in a beautiful setting. read more

We go to Talons a lot. We have been disappointed with the menu. There are so many items that contain blue cheese. We love blue cheese but it has consumed the menu. When we go to a golf club restaurant, we love finger foods like nachos, chips, salsa, quac, sour cream and wings. Chips and salsa were removed from the menu and no longer offered. With that being said, we tried it again recently and were extremely disappointed. We spend $86 and the food was terrible. We had the bbqu plate and everything tasted old and not fresh. The meat was really soggy like it soaked for days in grease. We also had the steak and peppers dish and it was blah. The server was great but the food was awful. Please bring back bar favorites and freshen up the food you serve. read more

I waited a couple of months to write my review about Talon's to see if my review in my head would soften. I went to Talons with a group of about 20 women for a luncheon. Instead of doing a preset lunch we all were able to order off the menu which was nice and we could each individually pay out bill, very convenient rather than trying to collect monies from everyone. We had a private room near the entrance of the restaurant. It was beautifully decorated, light and bright with sophisticated decorations. We were able to place our orders fairly quickly and the servers were incredibly nice and attentive. Most of us got water or unsweet tea and about 3 people got sweet tea. The poor servers kept getting confused and gave sweet tea to the people who wanted unsweet. After we brought it to their attention they were good about replacing the drinks. My issue is this.....Their special of the day was swordfish tacos. I was pleasantly surprised, this seemed like it would be good. When the orders came, almost all 20 came except for mine. My entrée came about 5 minutes later. When it came out I was dismayed. The fish was all cut up like it was the end pieces of the dinner special swordfish. It seemed like they trimmed the steaks and all of the odds and ends went into the tacos. It was disgusting. I thought I would get a nice little fillet of swordfish instead of what looked like can fish that had been pasted back together and grilled. The taste was a little off and did not taste fresh, like the fish had been frozen, defrosted, frozen and defrosted a few times. The texture was mealy and honestly I just didn't want to eat it. Being with a group of 20 people though and the only one to get the fish tacos, I didn't want to complain and be a bummer to an otherwise okay luncheon. Because of my experience with the horrible, barely edible fish tacos, I will not go back to Talons. Their care of how they prepare food completely turned me off and I can't even think about going back. read more

Went there for the "Easter Brunch". Everyone was very welcoming and friendly, however, I must say we were MOST disappointed. There was very limited selections of food including small portions. You were not allowed to serve yourself and the food was mediocure at best. The omelet was the best thing there. The piece of cake that was offered was the size for a child... the total Bill (Including a pre-determined Tip of 22%) was nearly $80 for two people... My wife and I had dinner last night at Talon's. We have dined many times here over the years, but we had not been there since last summer. From the moment that we arrived we noticed that the layout had changed, and the wait staff had changed. We ordered Bangkok Shrimp for starters. The sauce was overpowering for my wife, so I ate most of it. We both ordered the Fish and Chips, and we substituted a Caesar Side Salad for the chips. The fish pieces were very oily on the outside and our side salads were drenched in Caesar dressing. We ate 2 of the 4 pieces of fish and removed the oil-soaked batter covering the Cod. Neither of us ate very much of the Caesar salad. It was a very disappointing meal for us. Last year we had several exceptional meals at Talons including a private dinner function that my wife arranged for twenty guests in June of last year. read more

We went here for a work celebration and despite having 21 people in our party the wait staff was well organized and friendly. The menu was a limited selection decided upon in advance but despite being reduced offered a great selection and everyone found something they wanted. I personally got a cheese burger and fries, the burger was a half pound burger with smoked Gouda and it was cooked to absolute perfection! I eat here often and like others have said... when it's good, it's good. When it's bad, it's bad. Not the food or service... I generally have great food at very reasonable prices, and no complaints about the service. I'm talking about the crowd. What I HATE is that I can't enjoy sitting and eating outside without some crew of chain smokers popping up halfway through my meal. Every. Single. Time. They literally sit 5 feet away from where people are eating food, sipping their drink and blowing their smoke all over the families trying to enjoy their meals. Why does this warrant a 3-star for the restaurant? Because the managment literally does nothing about it when they see them sitting there smoking and the smokers post/trash can is right there next to where everyone is eating. Ultimately, the restaurant needs to figure out the clientele they're wanting to please; people who chain smoke cigarettes while blowing their smoke towards little kids, or those who are going to spend $16 on a salad to enjoy the view and the family vibe. Sure, I can sit inside, but the whole allure of this place is the appeal of being able to eat outside with the nice view. Just my two cents! read more

I have become a regular here with 4 my daughters...and I have to say I have never had a bad meal or experience here so two thumbs up for the kitchen staff who rarely gets the glory, the wait staff that has always been on point with us and very personable, I love the way they have all interacted with my girls and myself. Bartenders are exceptional here. Patio/inside, great venue. I've eaten at this restaurant quite a few times in the past. It's reasonable bar food. The atmosphere is normally what you would expect from a bar with a lot of drinking golfers. But that's not why I am leaving a review. I am leaving a review because yesterday I decided to take my mother to Talons for a Sunday early dinner. When we entered the restaurant, there was no hostess nor any sign directing us to either wait for one or seat ourselves. We sat ourselves at a table that was situated between the bar area and the kitchen and that was therefore in the line of traffic of the wait staff and, as it turned out, a person who appeared to be a manager. We sat there for nearly ten minutes as several waitresses and the manager walked by us numerous times or loitered to chat with customers at a nearby table. At no point did any employee greet us, let us know they'd be with us, even ask if we were there to eat, or - and this is important - acknowledge us or even make eye contact. The aforementioned manager walked past me at least two times while I was staring directly at his face and he determinedly stared straight ahead away from us. It was dreadful and humiliating experience, and I, for one, do not plan to return but do plan to urge my friends, my family, and my acquintances to avoid this abymsally-operated restaurant. read more

Unimpressed with the quality of food and poor service. Our visit was for lunch for Easter Sunday and we had a group reservation for 7. Our table was inside the newly remodeled dining room. While a lovely atmosphere visually I was annoyed being seated at a table meant for six that was uncomfortably close to another table which was impeding those walking and trying to pass by. I also wished we sat outside because the noise level climbs with a packed house and it was difficult to talk at the table. The appearance of the Easter Bunny earned them one more star. The buffet for Easter was disappointing for the money. It was Easter and I was expecting expensive but the menu was largely breakfast with made to order omelettes, eggs, and other things you'd get at any average hotel. They did not have spinach, feta or egg white. My omelette was swimming in oil. The waffles were horrible; spongy and bland. They either over stirred it or let it sit. The servers virtually disappeared after bringing drinks which didn't stop them from adding 20 percent gratuity to the bill. I read more

I have eaten here many times over the last year or so and have experienced all the different ways you can eat and drink here, inside and outside on the patio, with one or 2 people or as part of a large group. I have had the good and the awful here. As the old saying goes, "when it's good, it's very, very good, but when it's bad, it's awful". That has been my experience, but overall, it comes out a solid 4. Here's why. The Good: The staff, for the most part, are wonderful and try hard to please. They get rushed and are human. Effort goes a long way with me. The menu has quite a good variety of offerings and prices tend to be reasonable, although $7 for a pretzel with a tiny dollop of cheese isn't one of them. The sandwiches, salads and soups are usually very tasty. I especially love the Philly Cheese Steak and the awesome fries, and there is more than enough for me to take half of it home for later. They offer a soup and half sandwich at a good value, and the pecan cranberry chicken salad is quite tasty. If you like grilled cheese, there is an "adult grilled cheese" with several different kinds of cheese that is delicious. I often go with a group for lunch, and they mostly do a good job getting all the food out together. Quite a feat for that tiny kitchen. Just don't go if you are with a group AND in a hurry. Take time to enjoy the fellowship of your group, be patient, and you will enjoy it. The Bad: I agree with another reviewer that the one time I tried the fish tacos would be my last. The fish seemed to be all the bits and pieces left over and was not good at all--very fish-y tasting. It's not on the menu all the time, good thing. The Tuesday taco bar started out being good, but not so much anymore. Everyone started coming for it and it got super noisy and crowded and food was always running out. There is a mad dash the moment new food shows up and some, especially kids, take advantage of the "all you can eat". The Brunch Bar on Sundays is OK, but overpriced. The Awful: Buffets. Have had an opportunity, unfortunately, to sample far too many of these overpriced offerings at various functions like Easter, Christmas, Bingo and 55+. The food is never very hot and limited in its selection. In general, I now stay away from the buffets (think "rubber chicken" or pulled pork) and opt to eat off the menu if possible. All in all, I enjoy going here for a relaxing meal with family and friends. read more

Never had a bad experience here. Food is delicious and moderately priced. Plenty of grass for the kids to run around in and service is always impeccable. We really love their truffle and Parmesan fries (we nicknamed them "crack" fries), grownup grilled cheese, and their salads. We moved here in 07, this place has never met its true potential. We usually dine here on Sundays to find the overall experience to diminish more and more each month only because of the lack of management here in being experienced how to run this restaurant/bar. Through the many years, this place has gone through so many new managers and it sure has hit its lowest since April with the new manager. We arrived today for dinner, to find the front tables to be all dirty. We were going to turn around and leave but we know the female server here for a very long time who happens to do an excellent job and felt bad for her as business is always lacking here but decided to sit in the bar area knowing that she is working to support her family. We encounted additional problems early this evening which were from being served a glass of wine in a total dirty glass that had somebody's lipstick and fingerprints on to not having my other half makers mark bourbon. He chose another bourbon and I took a look at the bottles of liquor at the bar to find most of them to be pretty much empty. He asked for a soda water in a tall glass and a bourbin on the side which was half of what he usually gets. I don't blame the server as she has a very limited amount of bourbon in the bottle but to charge $8.00 for the same glass which was half of the amount he usually get is insane! It is not the servers fault but the fault of poor management for the lack of inventory. There were two other gentlemen working behind the bar that I was observing who did absolute nothing behind the bar! The women server that we always have had and know worked very hard. She answered the telephone calls, she swept the floors, she washed the tables, she took the orders and served drinks and food, she made the drinks and did everything with a nice pleasant smile and attitude. There were only 10 people in this establishment while we dined here and everybody was happy with this server. The overall problem is this place has never been managed properly, in fact, you rarely see a manager on duty or if there was one, never in sight. The OVERALL problem is from the person who actually HIRES the personnel in this restaurant/bar, they do not know what they are doing and do not hire the right personnel to run this restaurant/bar properly, speaking about the mangers on duty. I like to know who the person is that has been hiring these people for years, this person should not be hiring the personnel in this establishment. Management within this restaurant/bar always turns around over and over here but never has there been on hired that even knew how to run this place. As far as the food goes, the food is good, nothing spectacular or even half way good but the place does give us a decent environment and is very inviting and comfortable. This place can be a very good potential for income but the person who hires the management here really needs to go!!
