It was a busy Friday night and there was no hostess. Maybe they were short staffed for the evening but it didn't look like much urgency from the servers. We stood at the front door for a solid 15 minutes before even being acknowledged. The place was full but there were a couple of empty tables needing to be cleaned. When we were finally sat, no one did a drive by to let us know about drinks or ordering. Another 10 minutes and we ended up leaving. The place was lively and a band was on stage which was set up for half the restaurant. I can appreciate that set up so the whole restaurant is not in front of the band. It felt like a lot of locals which is great for them. Maybe this isn't a spot to consider if you don't have hours to hang out. Unfortunately, we weren't able to dine so can't comment on the food. read more

Awesome food and staff. Everyone was polite and our server was attentive. Our food canenout fast and was delicious. The interior is uniquely decorated. I feel they have some nice art and decorative pieces and then try to hard with some cheap items. If then removed those, less is more thought, it would look better. This place has a regular clientele so that means if you're in, you're in. But for someone just trying the place for the first time I wasn't all that impressed. The Ruben sandwich was good. Toasted and on a good bread. The corned beef was a bit dry. The French fries were good. I split the sandwich with my hubby and they were kind enough to do it for us. The service was lack luster. Happy hour had just stated so the bar was packed but the restaurant wasn't and we had mediocre service. In fact it felt like the waitperson developed a somewhat hostile attitude towards our party as time passed. We couldn't figure out what we could have done for such an odd turn. We weren't demanding anything, didn't send our food back, and thanked them whenever they came by. I wouldn't make the drive back for any reason as it's just not that good. read more

Sadly the fish was heavily battered and so oily I had to extract the fish. The batter was inedible. Fries were very good. The food is served on oval metal plates and the meal my friend ordered, Alfredo pasta with broccoli was too cool to continue half way through so she boxed it up for home. We've been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. Today was a "game day" Sunday, $5 margaritas, pizzas, and other specials. We sat outside on a surprising warm Sunday in January. We sat at patio tables surrounded by a bar topped fence. A perfect party spot! After some tasty pretzel bites with beer cheese dip, we opted for the white shroom pizza and added ham and green pepper. The garlic aioli was the final touch on a very tasty 8 inch "tavern pizza." We topped off the visit with some delicious warm bread pudding loaded with whip cream and soaked in a marvelous liquor called Shanky's Whip. Service is friendly and efficient good. I stopped in to have dinner with my family. Once inside, we were greeted and seated right away. Both appetizers we ordered were delicious. We ordered the shrimp basket and also a spinach dip with soft warm pita bread. I opted for fish and chips as my main entree and it didn't disappoint. Located in the back end of a somewhat dead strip mall this place is a somewhat hidden gem. Has golf cart parking for the locals living in OPCC. When I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly waitress that seated my family away from an incoming 21st birthday party so we would be able to visit with each other without trying to talk over a big party, which we appreciated. We started our meal by sharing a giant pretzel. It was perfection with a toasted crunchy crust a hot doughy center. I decided on the bangers and mash which I feel is a must anytime trying a new Irish pub or restaurant. The best part of the dish was the bangers and the sauerkraut that covered the bangers. (So good!) The mash was just ok but the gravy had good flavor. The cabbage on the plate I could do without because it wasn't cooked through and had no seasoning. My father definitely recommends the fish and chips. I didn't sample it but it looked good. My mother likes their shepherds pie. I did sample that, it tasted good but I thought it was a bit runny like a stew. I definitely will be back to try some different dishes and sample some brews. read more

I have tried to eat here two times and both times have never made it to a table. First time was a year ago and we went for early dinner (approx 4:30) and we waited at the host booth for 12-15 mins and never saw anyone aside from the bar tender. Looking around we could see people sitting with empty glasses and empty plates, took it as a bad sign and left. A year later and we went to give them a second chance and we waited at the booth for 8-10 mins and finally a lady came up and said there were wait over 30 mins and she had people waiting outside then never took our name and she walked away and left us standing. Again we felt they may be understaffed and left. Take it as you will but if you have people waiting at least take our names and have an order to the madness. read more

Walked in had a relaxed bar vibe. Got greeted and seated pretty quickly. Since it was our first visit we chose a couple different items to try. We ordered 2 appetizers: one being the fried zucchini sticks that came with ranch dipping sauce and it was definitely hot and fresh, I added salt, but I would order again. Next the Dubliner which had 3 different items. First the Irish eggrolls described as corned beef, cabbage and mozzarella rolls, secondly some corned beef and cabbage and lastly some shepherds pie. I do think a lot of restaurants would 50% better in their food if they would season it. That's where this food lacked. Salt and pepper would go a HUGE way. The egg rolls would benefit from not having the mozzarella in it, maybe cheddar or a cheese with better flavor. The cabbage was bland, the corned beef was good and made better with their mustard. That's was delicious! I did also enjoy their shepherds pie. If I return I would definitely order that as an entree. He ordered the fish and chips. Described as hand breaded white haddock served with pub fries. He did add salt and pepper and he added malt vinegar and it was good. Very fresh, hot and the crust very crispy. Being that that Professor was in town and I let her drive a pre meal beverage was going to a necessity. They advertise lots of Irish whiskeys, but thankfully they had a nice Kentucky bourbon as well. Even came to the table over a large rock which was appreciated. The Professor enjoyed Dr Pepper as Pepsi products are offered here. Our appetizer choice was pretzel bites with beer cheese. Generous quantity of tasty, salty nuggets covered in cheesy goodness...what more could you ask for? Sometimes at other places they can be greasy; not so here. Entree selections were fish & chips and shepards' pie. The fish review was good but the filets could've used a bit more salt. The accompanying fries were crispy and well seasoned. Met a friend and ate here for the first time for lunch. It was a beautiful day outside and it is really dark inside this restaurant. It does have great decorations and theme. We were recommended the Reuben and the pineapple Cole slaw. Both I was told were house made. The Reuben was above average and I liked the pineapple Cole slaw a lot. We ordered sides of fries and were very good. We had 4 hippie beers that we really liked. The waitress was excellent and very friendly! Never came back to check on us throughout our dinner even when we put the empty cups at the end of the table then after 10-15 minutes when she did finally give us a refill had an attitude about it. The food! Not sure if it was the server fault for forgetting or kitchen but we we didn't get our appetizer until our diner came out. No manager or owner around to see how the business was running or handling any problems. We had to flag down one server just to get a refill then it took some time just to get our check. We found this place by chance driving by. This is seriously some of the best food I have had in a very long time! The Shepard pie was great and the smashed potatoes had a few lumps which I love. Friends ordered the fish sandwich (it was so big she had to eat it with a fork) and Shepherds Pie. I was really excited to give this place a try, it had been a while since I've had fish and chips and this place seemed genuine, authentic and very frequented with relatively good reviews so being in Jax on business, I wanted to make a stop here with my family. There was plenty of good and some not-so-good. Also, I want to iterate that I'm being constructive because this is a beautiful place with beautiful people, you should definitely go, but the entrees that we got specifically could use huge improvement. Let's get the bad out of the way: I came for the fish and chips and they absolutely DIDN'T DELIVER. Batter and fish itself was flavorless and a bit too oily and greasy. I get it's fried fish at the end of day, but even the Harry Potter area at Universal delivered leaps and bounds beyond this dish and it's a theme park. This was a huge let down because I really was looking forward to a new standard being set, but it fell short - chips/fries were good though. I don't ever leave anything on my plate, even if it's not great, but I took two bites of the fish and left it. They were very kind and understanding to take it off the final bill. My wife's pasta Alfredo was better and edible, but top three most bland either of us has ever had, both Alfredo and chicken breast were under seasoned. Alfredo is tough to get wrong and unfortunately this one isn't great but it this could partly be out fault for getting pasta in an Irish place. Honestly, even my son's tenders were bland, which is wild because typically those are sure fire. If we ever came back around, we'd order something else and I'd recommend absolutely avoiding the fish and chips and not going for the pasta - Maybe the Shepard's Pie if the gravy is flavorful or the French Dip Sandwich which has never missed for me anywhere. Now that all that is out of the way, let me talk about the positive because there was genuinely so much of it. Our server, Wendy, was so kind and attentive, we had our toddler with us and she was so engaging with him and a gentlemen who appears to be the manager came by with a tic tac toe toy that he loved - this was very nice. This definitely seems like a spot that locals love and we felt welcomed and taken care of. Because of the service itself, we would consider giving it another try next time we're in town. But some of the food was actually very good. The star of the night was the French Onion Soup - WOW! Absolutely exceptional flavor, texture of onion rendered down and whatever else is in there is beautiful. It was more than the typical rainy Florida afternoon and we got swamped in the drive up 95 so this savory, rich, comforting soup hit the spot. Even if you just stop by for the soup, it's well worth it. The buffalo wings were great too! All in all, great service and ambiance - welcoming to families, but I'm sure you can get a nice genuine pub experience sitting at the bar. Do your homework on entrees and if something isn't right, they'll make it right - they'd do well tweaking some key entrees, especially fish and chips. Service in incredible. read more

Even the menu prices were surprisinly affordable. I ordered a corned beef sandwich and was very pleased. This is definitely a corned beef I would come back and eat again.
