This particular week, we chose to go to Tamara in Lake Mary for family dinner. We made a reservation for 5:30pm on a Thursday, though I'll say it wasn't needed. The ambience is great! The decorations were well thought out. Tamara would be great for date night or a special occasion as well. The food was nothing short of delicious. For an appetizer, we had the vegetable samosas. The garlic naan is a must and easy for two people to share. The butter sauce with chicken was the star of the show as well as the kadai masala. We all chose the Indian route, but you can also get Chinese and thai dishes. Make sure to give Tamara a try!

I was in the Sanford/Lake Mary area and was looking for authentic Indian food. My original choice was closed on Monday, so I ended up at Tamara-- and I'm really glad I did. The restaurant is beautiful. It has a modern, upscale feel with elegant lighting, comfortable seating, and a relaxed atmosphere. It feels special without being stuffy. One thing I really liked was the menu. Instead of choosing a pre-made entrée, you can mix and match your curry and protein. I ordered the Butter Sauce with Masala Braised Chicken, along with Garlic Naan, and asked for it mild. The butter sauce was rich, creamy, and full of flavor without being overly heavy. The braised chicken was incredibly tender and soaked up the sauce perfectly. The garlic naan arrived hot and fresh and was perfect for scooping up every last bit of the curry. Every bite was excellent. Service was friendly and attentive, and although the restaurant has a more upscale appearance than many Indian restaurants, I found the prices to be very reasonable for the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. If you enjoy dishes like Butter Chicken, Chicken Korma, or Chicken Tikka Masala, you'll probably love this place. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the Orlando/Sanford area. Highly recommended!

Me and mom, celebrating her birthday. This is the beach wall seat that gets the sun in your face at sundown. Beware

First of all, we love indian food. So when I saw the ad for this restaurant in Lake Mary Collection Magazine, I ripped it out and put it on the fridge. Within a month or so, we booked dinner with my folks on a wednesday night, to celebrate my mom's birthday. She likes indian food, too! When we arrived, our table was ready. It was only 6pm; There were a couple tables with customers, but the restaurant really started to fill up around 7pm. I didn't particularly like our table because we were in line with the window. So as the sun went down, the sun was streaming in our faces. They did not have a way of preventing this - no shade, no movable divider, no umbrella outside that they could move- NOTHING. They just asked us to wait for it to subside. Next time, I won't accept a table that includes the wall bench. Service was good. We had two attendants that came to our table often, to refill our waters, to bring our food, and to clear our table. They even surprised my mom with a birthday dessert! I had mentioned in the comments on our reservation that the dinner was for mom's bday, but so many places don't ever look at that or they don't do anything complimentary for birthdays. But this place really delivered. They brought a delicious slice of tres leches cake with mango soaked indian cakes on top and a candle. My mom was delighted! We all shared the dessert. Regarding the food - everything was good, but not great. It is really unfortunate - I wanted to love this indian restaurant - but we have so many good ones in the Orlando area. This one is ok. The ambiance is good, the food is EXPENSIVE and the food is just ok. What did we have? Cauliflower Manchurian, Kothey Momos, Thai Style Lamb Chops, Goat Roganjosh, Salmon Tikka, Butter Chicken, Shrimp Chingri Masher Malai, Tandoori Chicken, Palak Saag Paneer, Garlic Naan, Four Cheese Naan an Butter Roti. So please don't say I didn't try enough to get an overall feeling of this place. I ordered a TON of food. And we ended up taking half of it home, to enjoy another day. But that's how I like to try a place - I order a ton of food, knowing I won't be able to eat it all. But I want to really try the place. The best dishes - thai style lamb chops, the salmon tikka and the palak paneer. LISTEN- but here's the deal. This is why I say it's expensive: You order the lamb chops, which cost $16.00 and then you add the style which is another $19.00. So the lamb appetizer dish is $35. You order the Butter Sauce which is $17.00 and then you choose your protein, for which I chose Chicken, so add an additional $4.00 and now that dish is $21. Even the paneer for the Palak Saag was an additional $2.00. So it all adds up. I will attach my receipt so you can see the charges. Not all dishes are this way. Everything appears to be a la carte. They do serve each person a bowl of white rice though, which is the only thing that is included. So, I would say the place is good, but you can definitely find better by going down to winter park or orlando area, and you might save some money by doing that. See pics.

Beautiful, Instagrammable venue. Clean space, friendly and helpful staff. I found this place looking for a happy hour in the area. Tamara has great drink and food specials for their happy hour every weekday. I tried a lychee martini, spicy margarita, and an espresso martini. I got the cauliflower Manchurian and chili potatoes from the happy hour menu. Both were tasty and a good amount of food. The chili potatoes came in the format of fries which I was not expecting but I still enjoyed- they had a good crunch too. Overall I enjoyed everything, was thankful for lots of veggie options, and the staff was helpful and checked on me throughout my stay. I would definitely return.

Heyyyyyyyy you guyyyyyyyyyys! Ok welp let's get right in. The asthetic is something to talk about. Super modern, super classy, well done! The staff was pleasant, we opted to sit at the bar and it took a while for someone to tend to us. When the bar tender came over he was very pleasant his drinks were good. The eats-samosas are delicious, momo's really yum as well, cauliflower dish was good. Flavors are well balanced. They do have HH, they also offer hookah, they have outdoor seating too. Overall the place has so much potential, food is very much on point. Let's eat!

We ordered the chicken saag (saagwala), chicken curry, cheese naan, onion kulcha, and samosas. The chicken saag was a little different than other saags I've had, and it wasn't as herbaceous as I expected. I ordered it mild and it had no spice at all, which was fine with me. The chicken curry was good as well, it was very tomatoey with a slightly smoky flavor. I ordered that one medium expecting a little heat, but there wasn't really any spice, which was a bit disappointing. In both chicken dishes, some of the pieces of chicken were a little overcooked and slightly dry, but the sauces themselves were still flavorful. Both dishes came with rice, which was a little bland on its own but worked well once you mixed it with the sauces. The onion kulcha was definitely a highlight. It was soft and had a ton of onion baked right into the dough, which I loved. The cheese naan was fine, not bad, but not particularly memorable either. The samosas were also really good. The filling was flavorful and they were perfectly fried. They came with two sauces: a green sauce that tasted really fresh and herby with a nice kick, and a sweeter brown sauce (I think tamarind) that was a little sweeter than I personally prefer. Portion sizes were okay but not huge, and the overall price felt a little on the higher side for the amount of food. That said, I'd still come back to try some other dishes, and I would definitely order the onion kulcha again

For our appetizer order, I started to say we want the platter but she knew before I even said it. Haha. Must be a popular dish. I had seen it in reviews - looked like it comes with many items! We cut everything up so we could all get one bite of everything; a couple items had two or three whole pieces so we each got a few bites. The sauces are extra charge but definitely get them. The chutney is so good and whatever that spicy brown sauce is, is really good. I ordered for the table- shrimp korma, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, palak paneer, aloo Gobhi, lamb kadai, dal makhani, garlic naan, garlic cheese naan and paratha. It was a lot of food!! The dishes came with basmati rice. It was so much rice, our server didn't bring it all- instead she packed it up to go for us from the start. In the end, we finished nothing. We split the left overs- they brought us two containers for each curry so we didn't have to mix anything. And we got styrofoam containers for the breads and rice, and our to go rice as well. We shared the mango mousse cake- very nice, not too sweet, definitely mousse consistency. We sat and talked throughout the dinner. They had quite a few other tables so our server was running around. She kept apologizing to us but we were in no hurry. It was fine. We enjoyed our time. This place is good. We also like Mynt, Tamarind and Jala. I would say the prices here are better than Jala and on par with Tamarind. We do not like Tamara in Lake Mary - expensive and not that good. We would definitely come back here. Service is good, food is great, prices are reasonable and there's a lot of paneer and meats in the curries. A lot. A lot more than most places. And you can avoid the traffic and bad parking situation of winter park. I would recommend this place. Parking is plentiful. I did not use the restroom so I can't speak on that. They have some music playing which can be a little loud. Restaurant was clean. They were very responsive by phone when we typed the address in wrong and got lost. Oops. Haha. They do have a big sign that you can't miss. Go and enjoy!!

Inside, the place is really nice, almost formal. Dark dining room with nice tables and booths. Cool artwork and lamps. Service was very interesting. Our host, maybe owner(?) was super chatty. I prefer service to be get and get out promptly but she was recommending items, asking questions, and determining herself what we really wanted. Hey, maybe some people really like that to get a great experience. I found it a bit much but she was super nice. We got the veggies platter appetizer which was fantastic. The server really pushed the lamb samosas which were fine but I should have passed. And for entrees we got butter chicken, tikka masala veggies, and shrimp korma with garlic naan and a fantastic plate of basmati rice. The meal was great! The sauces/gravies were so delicious. And honestly, some of the best basmati around. Come for the food! Definitely recommend this place. And for Amex users, a great credit as well. Definitely worth it.

Bombay pops up, is highly rated, and is just about a mile and a half away from where we were. We pull up, go in, and it's clean, cozy & bright. The servers are really kind. My friend's young daughter is trying to do vegan, and my friend has a tree nut allergy AND eats gluten-free, and they can accommodate ALL OF THAT! Yay! This is one of the best menus I've seen in the United States for Desi food, and true to Orlando style, they also have some "asian" dishes / cool combos of Chinese & Indian on the menu. I have never seen so many restaurants with two/hybrid/fusion menus as I have in Orlando! We got Hakka Noodles, Pani Puri, Masala Dosa, Palak Paneer & Chai. Pani Puri came assembled already and in a cute little wagon. Everything tasted amazing!! Tasted fresh-made with fresh ground spices & tasty ingredients. It was very reasonably priced, and the food came out fast. We didn't finish it all & they were prompt with the to go containers. Definitely going back. Thanks you guys!

We ordered the Thali expecting a well-rounded, flavorful Indian meal--but what arrived at the table was far from it. The food was served cold, which immediately set the tone. Naan, which should be soft, warm, and slightly crisp on the edges, was instead leathery and overly chewy, almost as if it had been sitting out far too long. The Thali was supposed to include chicken biryani and chicken curry, but both dishes missed the mark entirely. The chicken served was dark thigh meat, which in itself isn't an issue when cooked right--but here, it lacked any depth or proper preparation. More disappointing was the complete absence of flavor. Indian cuisine is known for its rich layers of spices and aromas, but everything on the plate felt bland and lifeless, as if the spices were an afterthought rather than the heart of the dish. Adding to the disappointment, the interior decor felt very dated and gloomy, lacking the warmth or vibrancy you'd hope for in a dining space. The bathrooms were also filthy, which only made the overall experience worse. Having dined at several Indian restaurants, we know what a good Thali should taste like--balanced, vibrant, and satisfying. This was none of that. It felt rushed, poorly executed, and lacking the care that defines authentic Indian cooking. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing enough that we won't be returning.
