I bashfully explained to him that I am on a diet and he looked at me weird again. I didn't want to make a big deal about it so I just took the rice and ate some of it. The interaction left me feeling uneasy. I never asked him to reduce the price in exchange for excluding the rice. I did ask him for extra bell peppers, which they didn't do either. I am insulted that gave me strange looks when he took my order and when he served me the food. He assumed that the reason I didn't want the rice was because I couldn't afford it or was being frugal. I have never had this problem when I have eaten at Mexican, Thai, Chinese, or any other restaurants. It's very simple, I don't want the rice, so don't serve me the rice. If I was a vegetarian and asked for no meat in a dish, would they still serve it to me? Or what if I had a food allergy and asked for something to not be in my food, would they still serve it to me? I am a customer who placed a very specific and easy to adjust order. Technically, it would have been more profit for the restaurant. I didn't ask him to change the tikka masala recipe or to charge me less money. I was fine with paying full price and would have paid extra for the extra peppers. Rather than insult me, he should have just served me what I asked for. The chicken tikka masala was bland, not that spicy for medium, and was very sweet. I won't be returning to this restaurant again.
