    Chicken Satay
    Kathryn T.

I visited the Tamara Lounge last night for a catch up with a group of friends who hadn't seen each other for a few months. Upon booking we were told we could only be squeezed in at 9pm but we were welcome to use the bar area beforehand. They had a fabulous cocktail menu, although I couldn't try one, unfortunately. We managed to get a table by the bar, which was lucky as our table wasn't ready until at least 9.15. We enquirer whether we could sit in an empty booth to the side of the bar and were told only if we wanted to pay a £300 minimum drink spend. Not happening! The food menu looked amazing as they offer both a full Chinese and Indian menu! I had the chicken satay, great value at £6.50 for four skewers with a separate dipping sauce, followed by the chow mein which they altered and catered to my dietary issues no problem. Also a generous portion. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. Friends ordered a mixture of curries and the pad Thai and all were also reported as being delicious! Though the curries were apparently fairly spicey, even the korma! However, despite the glowing food review I have to take away a couple of stars for the fact we weren't aware that the venue essentially turns into a nightclub of an evening!! The music was extremely loud, there were flashing coloured lights etc all in the main restaurant area. It made conversation impossible and even focusing on your plate pretty damn difficult! The staff were also struggling due to the noise leading to lots of miscommunication and delays for simple requests. I'd recommend the place for a meal if you manage to get in early evening as the food is fantastic but I'd avoid after 8.30-9pm unless you want to essentially head to a club and try and eat!

I've had enough Indian food for the week at home so went for the yellow side of the menu. Singapore noodles with prawn and chicken.

Great range of Indian or Chinese food, plus Cocktails/Mocktails as well as a very pretty outdoor shisha area.

Reason being relative to the amount of traffic this terminal gets, the lounge capacity is very limited. The waitlist can be up 45+ minutes and it's not guaranteed that everyone on the waitlist can enter before they need to board their flight. This time it appeared they were giving some priority to people who had to board sooner as long as I was willing to share a table with another customer. In this lounge the staff assign seats to each customer which isn't something you usually see, though made sense based on the small size. Since I had only about 15 minutes prior to boarding time I wasn't choosy about comfort, really just wanted to grab a quick breakfast prior to getting on the flight, so this was fine by me. There's a small bar with breakfast selection of the day being "English breakfast" items: scrambled eggs, baked beans, crispy bacon, sausage. They also had some fruit/veg juices, pancakes (via a nifty little pancake machine), a bar with limited alcoholic drinks, and regular coffee/tea options. Functional enough for a quick stop though less comfortable than some other international lounges in terms of space, but still better than many lounges in the US when comparing quality of food.

This lounge has the space as in a huge area, the relaxed vibe, the very comfortable chairs and sofas to make this the perfect stop and break when taking that 15-20 hour flight to Asia with the one stop in London. Well this stop is the best. The team here is outstanding. They have a greeter 30 feet outside the entrance. There have always been 3 staff members at the check in which is in seconds. Love the selection and top shelf beverage and wine variety. Really love the ice cream cart. Get a genuine and full English breakfast here. The handy QR codes make it so easy and convenient to order and instantly receive food, drinks and amenities right at one's seat. Enjoy the ultimate shopping experience as you jump on the " Reserve and Collect" computers to reserve and shop from any store or boutique at the airport. All this while checking out the sun teasing with a ten second appearance and the planes entering and exiting the gates a few hundred feet away The team here keeps the buffet stocked and picks up used plates in a jiffy. The sad part is leaving after settling into that beautiful LazyBoy armchair and hopping on the sometimes crowded elevator( excuse me lift) as the escalators going down are temporarily out. First Class all the way.

We didn't have a whole lot of time between connections to order from the QR menu which could have made this review higher. First of all, it's a modern looking lounge with great accommodations. I love that they have a row of private & clean restrooms that have their own sink and scented diffusers. They are very spacious with no unpleasant smells that I could detect despite it being a public restroom. It appeared to be very well-maintained. The coffee & tea bar was a huge highlight. It had French croissant pastries and Union Hand-Roasted Coffee. It was the best part of the lounge in my opinion. The views of the runway were also wonderful. We saw some very large jumbo planes taking off and landing from our comfy seats. It was a relaxing lounge. We were there at breakfast time. The breakfast bar had a good variety. It could have been better had the English muffins been toasted. I'm not sure why British Airways doesn't have toasters in their lounges. What's the point of having butter nearby? I tried to make a bacon roll out of it, and it just didn't work for me. My husband asked if there was any way to toast it, and they said no. So, they won't toast it for you. I did see other rolls there that may have been a better choice but I'd already placed the muffin on my plate. Other than that, it was an okay buffet for a British breakfast. I didn't see the ice cream cart that everyone talks about. That may be because it was too early for that. There's a good selection of alcohol as well. I have a feeling that ordering from the made-to-order menu is the way to go here, and especially if they have that Loch Fyne salmon that I had on the way back from Edinburgh. It was still a nice upgrade from the typical British Airways Lounge. Hopefully I can update this review again when we return.

Both times, the service and the food was impeccable. Having a truly relaxing lounge makes you feel more well rested during travel, and Cathay Pacific Airways First Class Lounge delivered well beyond my expectations. The decor here is beautiful. Think rich woods, floor to ceiling windows overlooking the tarmac and ficus trees elevating the space. The lounge on both occasions was moderately busy but not overcrowded. The first visit we camped out in a more isolated area and found some great seats with views of the tarmac and helped ourselves to some really delicious bites. I had a delicious smacked salmon finger sandwich, an Earl Gray Panna cotta, and a raspberry cheesecake in a shot glass. Everything was fantastic and tasted like great quality food. I washed it all down with some reduced fat milk, because if you don't know- the milk in the UK is phenomenal! On our second visit to this lounge a week later, we opted for the dining room experience and ordered some soups and fish and chips. Oh my word- this was THE BEST fish and chips I ever had! It was fresh and the batter was crunchy and perfectly seasoned- then the tartar sauce was off-the-charts good! It was tangy, zippy and was hands down the most amazing tartar sauce. I never knew tartar sauce could be this good! I polished off my meal with a strawberry pavlova at the end and it was a perfect meal! The restroom facilities are clean and peaceful. The lighting is low and relaxing. You have to exit the first class lounge and the restroom is shared between both the first class and business class lounges, but both times, the there were no waits and there were plenty of stalls. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at the Cathay Pacific Airways First Class Lounge. It truly felt luxurious and posh. The lounge is stunning. It's huge, bright, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offer some great tarmac views. The decor was solid - I think I read the words "premium corporate" somewhere lol.. Vintage photography, some cool tree decor, blues, golds, etc... Overall a sophisticated and welcoming vibe. The service was definitely proactive and polished. From the warm greeting at reception to the attentive staff who are constantly clearing plate and restocking the buffet, I felt well looked after. A special shoutout to the shower suite attendants. The facilities were immaculate. I had been up all night trying to time my inner-clock & avoid jet lag, so the warm shower was perfect before my flight. The food was solid, but not terribly exciting. Given the reputation of this lounge, I was expecting a bit more variety, but was met with a standard English breakfast. There wasn't much in the way of elevated options, though it was tasty nonetheless. And the bar was beautiful, though nobody was really partaking given it was 6:30 in the morning. All in all, solid experience. I'm looking forward to returning and enjoying the lunch/dinner options plus the beautiful bar.
