Pickings for a nice restaurant are pretty slim in this part of the state, so I thought I'd try this place. On the plus side the main restaurant is large with plenty of room for small or large parties. The staff is fairly friendly and accommodating though you have to ask for condiments, refills, etc. I imagine Tamarack could be much better, as the place starting getting packed shortly after we arrived. I probably will keep it on my radar for lunch but not for dinner. The portions are decent sized and the overall flavor is good. My biggest gripe is that the food was only lukewarm when it was delivered and my fries were completely cold. Insert sad face here. The other thing is, I went to scoot my chair closer to the table and my finger got pinched to the point it started to bleed. I told the server what happed and asked for a bandage and I was told they didn't have one. Really? I had to go outside to my vehicle to get one. My advice to Tamarck Grill -- tighten up those loose chairs and make sure the food is hot before it comes out. read more

Had a few different experiences at this particular restaurant, very unpleasant. Met a couple colleagues (Hispanic) at this place and were told we weren't allowed to sit in certain areas. Our other acquaintances walked in 5 minutes later(white) and were welcome to sit wherever but chose our table. Staff told them "are you sure you want to sit there?" Very racist and very rude. Any person of color or culture should drive right by this place and never look back. Terrible service terrible treatment. Uninviting and will never recommend this hole to anyone. We are all Gods people and should never be treated a certain way due to skin color. I am Caucasian and was treated differently than my colleagues. do better Fowler do better read more

The first four stars are all for our waitress Bailey! She was friendly, warm, and professional to our party of 27. Came in during lunch rush and she was so good at her job and the kitchen staff pulled it off beautifully as well. Apparently this is the most popular place in town and everyone was satisfied with their meals and the service was just outstanding. Meat and potatoes seemed to be their specialty but my meatless taco salad was good and I caught glimpse of two nice looking meatless garden salads as well. read more

The interior here is nice but the rest rooms should be cleaner. The bar was impressive. It must get used because my draft beer was cold and fresh. Our Rueben sandwich was average which is OK. The fries were very average which is OK. The onion rings were cooked to order so that was great. The water service for the wait person seemed to be a struggle. But the taste was good. Wife and I were in Fowler to pick up our processed hog. Based on the recommendation of a "local" it appears that Fowler has some pretty good places to eat. We selected Tamarack Grill and were extremely pleased. The place was very clean and they were continuously sweeping the floors to make sure that they were spotless. I ordered the Pub Burger and my wife ordered a Reuben. Both were prepared quickly and were excellent. I had heard about their banana creme pie and ordered a piece to go. My wife ordered the Coconut creme to go also. Well we just got a chance to finish the pie off and they were both delicious. Real banana pieces. I highly recommend stopping there if you are on Hwy 50. Great parking for RV's or trucks. Oh, and the staff was happy, pleasant, and did an outstanding job. read more

This place was great! We stopped here randomly on our way to Colorado Springs. The portions were huge and the price was more then fair. 3 of the 4 of us ordered chicken fried steak which was on special. We were all VERY impressed and highly recomend this. The country fried steak dinner was overcooked, tough, and burned. The white gravy had an off flavor and was as thick as elmers glue. Two bites and tossed it in the garbage. What a waste of money. Not sure if I will order from there again after that experience. read more

The food was really great! It was their Italian dinner night, so my son ordered the calzone. It looked so pretty for food, like it was for a photo shoot in a magazine. The pretty golden brown color. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. And they said that it was what made them famous in a small town. And my husbands response after his first bite, was wow it truly is the best he has had, in a very long long time. I had a buffalo chicken rap. It was really good perfectly crispy chicken and bacon lettuce and tomatoes with a side of extra buffalo sauce on the side,wow!! And because my son ordered Italian we all got a free slice of home made Italian cream cake. And the waitress was Johnny on the ball. Needless to say we will drive the 100 miles just to eat here again. read more

So Good! So Good! So good! Sweeet Tamarack... bom bom bom! What a lovely gem in the small town of Fowler. My husband has actually been here multiple times with our kids, but I have only been here a couple of times. Let's just say, whoa!!! This review is only for breakfast, but they do serve lunch and dinner as well. If you order the chicken fried steak it is literally the size of a plate, so it would be a good idea to share though I am pretty sure it could have fed our entire family. Portions are large and delicious and we had plenty to take home for the next day... again think about sharing unless you are extremely hungry. Service and food was great, all things considered for such a small town. When in town again we will be sure to be back. The Tamarack Grill is a very shiny gem in this very small town. What a Nice surprise in Fowler! The grill offers Steaks, hot sandwiches, and a few New Mexican dishes for dinner. The breakfast is good too! Nothing fancy - simple good food! We started with the jalapeño corn fritters ---Mmmmmmm. The fritters are crispy on the outside with a sweet mix of corn and a dash of jalapeño on the inside. You can dip them in your choice of ranch or blue cheese to cool them off before enjoying them. Tasty Steak Fajitas: marinated meat with a nice spice mix and not over cooked or greasy. The southwest salad had fresh ice burg lettuce with spring mix, corn, black beans, and lots of marinated chicken on top. We tied one of the home made pies for desert -- we choose Hanna cream pie. Delicious not too sweet and made with real bananas. We returned for breakfast, they were open on Sunday! The Tamarack special comes with two eggs, choice of meat, has browns and a 'side' of French toast, pancakes, or biscuits and gravy. Both the biscuits and gravy sides could be a regular breakfast ! Thick French Toast with hints of vanilla and cinnamon. They definitely take advantage of all the steak grilling as the gravy for the biscuits was savory with a good meat flavor. read more

It is okay. The only place in town I think. The chicken doesnt taste like chicken and the beef is a bit rubber.

Hubby and I are from Colo Springs but met some family here for lunch. We were not disappointed at all. The food was delish! You cannot go wrong ordering the slopper burger (covered in homemade green chili) or the Italian dip. I loved that you can get a side salad with your sandwich at no extra charge. Many items to choose on the menu, generous portions and reasonably priced. Will definitely go back when in the area. Friendly staff and clean. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures. read more

Super good food! I had the Hickory Burger with onion fries and my friend had the Southwest Grilled Chicken salad that came in a HUGE bowl, she could barely finish but the food was delicious, perfect lunch or dinner joint and wonderful experience. Lets start off it's fowler. And it has a local meat source..and produce...that said i ordered the secret burger ready for it. BUT i can only have a burger well done??#!! WTF so i had to order French toast with ham and turky and a slice of swiss. Eh..the server was new so i cant complain on her shes friendly. Btw way if the burger have to be well done im assuming the meat is bad so avoid the meat. And there is prime rib on sat? So im assuming that is cooked well done as well. So yea ill pass. This place is doing everything right. I had the chicken fried steak and banana cream pie - home cooking at its best! The food was outstanding. The chicken fried steak was tender inside and crispy outside. The gravy was smooth and hot. And the pie was perfect! The staff make a great attempt at providing a quality product, everyone seemed happy and the place was packed. We enjoyed the french dip the mushrooms were fresh, not canned which is a plus. If we go back I will probably try the burger they looked pretty decent and a popular menu item based on the number they were sending out. Only complaint, they serve Pepsi products. read more

Good burgers and were accommodating to our requests. We will be back to try other menu items. The special of the day was a Western Burger which had fried onions, bbq sauce and bacon. This is a very friendly local place, a classic diner for breakfast and lunch. Except... my chicken-friend steak was at best room temperature. Same with the gravy, the potatoes, the green beans. Really disappointing. The waitress was nice and, being from out of town, I didn't want to make a fuss. Who knows much how much longer we would have had to wait for a new plate, and it was a long wait to begin with. read more
