This restaurant is known for their Eggs Benedict, Swedish Pancakes and their thick bacon. We ordered 2 of these items and agreed with the recommendations. The Eggs Benedict are really so delicious. They use a non-traditional hollandaise sauce which, amazingly amped up the flavor of the eggs! And the eggs were perfectly made so that the whites were thoroughly cooked and the yolk was runny. Odd, but this is a difficult thing to get in a restaurant. The meal was served with delicious home fries where the potatoes were moist and flavored. We also ordered a side of their thick bacon, which had a bit of a different flavor - very nice. The bacon was perfectly cooked. We took a chance on the egg scramble, which had lots of promise with the many ingredients listed, but the eggs were overcooked and dry, so the other ingredients couldn't compensate. They served the eggs with a very nice bread for their toast. We almost didn't come here as we only saw the side of the building, which was a very small house looking structure. But as you continue down the street, you can see that they have expanded their restaurant to include the dining area: an "inside" area and a patio area. All of this new structure is glass or plastic windows, they have heating and cooling to accommodate for the time of day and they did a great job of making a pleasant eatery. Everyone we met at the restaurant was pleasant and kind. It was such an enjoyable time. We have a few more days in Moab, so we will be back. read more

Perhaps this place had a hey day and it was some time ago? Hard to be happy with a $5 coffee that tastes like a $.75 one. Nor the 'fresh oj' for $6 that was clearly from a super market container. The scramble wasn't bad but my guess is that they have a number of dishes in the back under heat lamps? I saw a woman order her meal and it came out with toast that could not have been created in the time between her ordering and it being made. Bummer - it could be a better place but there are excellent places in Moab so better to spend your time there. read more

Got seated but then had to wait awhile before we got asked if we wanted anything. Ordered 2 cups of 5 buck coffee. It was decent. Then we ordered a stack of pancakes (4). It was 15 bucks for very basic pancakes. Pricey. Ordered side of bacon (3) strips for 8 bucks. This was some of the best bacon I've ever had. Very very good. Ordered a omelette. Omelette was small but good. Toast was super cold. Potato's were cold and had very good flavors. Spicy. Perfect however cold. Overall this is not a typical greasy spoon restaurant. Jailhouse is apparently an institution of Moab. It was a good breakfast/brunch place for what we wanted. It was good but not super special. Mostly typical eggs, omelets, pancakes and waffle. Good size portions, perfectly cooked, seasoned beautifully. And their signature side of bacon is worth the price, the best bacon I've had in a long time. I saw best eggs Benedict claim here so I decided to try it since I am an eggs Benedict snob. I came at 10 am and was seated immediately, there was no line. The ambiance is cute coffee shop with a little feel of a diner. Server came right the way and I ordered macchiato coffee and the chorizo eggs Benedict. Coffee came right the way and it was absolutely delicious, great aroma and nice low acidity. The meal came shortly after with potatoes. I asked for extra hollandaise sauce as the chorizo was a little overpowering and I couldn't taste it and I love some good hollandaise. Ok hands down I have to say the hollandaise sauce was amazing. I came in and had the Southwestern Eggs Benedict. It was really good and cooked perfectly. I loved the taste of the unique chipotle hollandaise sauce. The downside was the lack of coffee refills and very inattentive service. It seemed like the server just expected our business and didn't need to try to provide a good experience. Great dinner restaurant find in Moab!!!! We stumbled upon the Jailhouse Cafe, which looked like a good breakfast restaurant and noticed that they were now serving dinner. Now I must admit, I'm very picky when it comes to food, and was pleasantly surprised by our experience. I ordered a french style salad that had spinach, chopped hard boiled eggs and bacon. The salad and the french dressing was very fresh and amazing! We also had their hamburger with bacon, which includes shoestring french fries, which was also very good. We had a very nice glass of Napa, Alexander Valley cabernet, which was a great complement to our meal. I am giving the Jailhouse Cafe a 5-star rating for their great food with fresh tasting ingredients, their outstanding/welcoming staff, for the pleasant and relaxing background music--All made a great dinner experience after a long day out on the trails. First time checking things out for dinner. The noise levels from the vehicles passing by reving up engines was extremely bothersome. I could not hear people talking at my table. My burger tasted like fish as I'm sure was cooked with salmon burgers that my party ordered. Fries were soggy and I just did not like that. They may have some better options, but my wife ordered two eggs scrambled with sausage and it came with hash browns(I had already eaten, so I just had coffee and the coffee was good). The order cam out faster than we expected that it would, and it looked and tasted like it came off the buffet line for breakfast at a hotel. Powdered eggs, round sausage patties and the same type of seasoned hash browns that you get at a hotel breakfast in the morning. Not that this type of breakfast is not OK, but its not what we expect when we go to a restaurant that has "famous breakfasts" on their wall. I would say they are most famous for their bacon, so be sure to get that as a side dish if it's not included with your meal.
