I need to give 1star although this is my to go Filipino store when I need Filipino goodies - I am a regular in this store. On a Sunday afternoon, I went to this store to get things that I need, only few items and since I got lotsa of coins I decided to use them. When I reached the counter to pay, there goes my unpleasant encounter with the cashier when I handed to her my coins. First, she goes "why you taped the coins it will be difficult for me that I have to take them out" (I thought putting a tape on the coins would be easy to count: sorted pennies, nickel, dimes and quarters). Then I said sorry I just want to use them since I got a lot of coins. Second, she took the tapes off the coins, she started counting and said "oh my I'm getting mad/upset doing this, I can't count it!" Again, I said sorry I just want to use my coins. She kept saying it over and over, "I can't count it!" Darn it, she lost her patience for a total bill of $8.67 that she can't count the coins?! And she even said to me, I don't want to be in trouble with our boss if my sale go short. OMG, for $8.67 she whines the whole time attending to me that she can't count, and the line is getting longer blah blah blah. She never toned down her whinny conversation with me - very poor customer service!!! She is a cashier she should know how to count, accept whatever mode of payment the customer has. Local market that caters to more Filipino consumers. The brands carried here are usually Philippine products. It seems like prices are a little higher here than elsewhere but it's a smaller local grocery. Also has a takeaway counter for readymade food, menu offerings are changed daily. Depending on the time you arrive, some typical midday snack food can be had , I was there at around 2 pm and there was a newly made batch of Turon - think of sweetened banana egg rolls . Honest cashier - the customer ahead of me forgot her cash change when she went to get a cart for her grocery purchase. The cashier set it aside till the customer returned. I appreciated that kind gesture. Fish counter with someone who will clean the fish for you. The fish sits out on ice and I feel like if it was a better display of the goods, I'd be more inclined to buy. It's a typical thing to have a slightly frenetic vibe for small markets I think, between customers and deliveries all happening at once and tight parking. I've been frequenting this market because it's currently (during COVID) harder to find some specialty items from the Phillipines and this store is on my route. Two topics recently made me remember to write up this Yelp review... 1) They were out of a product, so I asked if they knew when they'd were scheduled to get more. The lady at the counter told me to ask the manager and pointed in the direction of behind the wall somewhere. A lady came out to help me and she was kind enough to take my name and number down and said she'd let me know when and if they got a shipment. That was nice. 2) It was lunchtime, so I decided to purchase food from their to-go area. The lady was very nice and dug deep to give me the "biggest" milk fish, but I was a bit shocked at the price, $9.49. Turns out it WAS big, so it took me two meals to finish, but my complaint is that there are no prices posted anywhere for any of the to-go items. Adding that would take this to-go area up a notch. Feeling the price of the milk fish was "reasonable", but I felt the 2-item combo was overpriced. Small market with take-out deli & nice selection of bakery items. The meat & seafood counter in the rear has a pretty decent selection considering the size if the market. The prices of the produce are decent and sometime better than the large Chinese, Vietnamese, or Korean supermarkets in neighboring Cerritos or Garden Grove. What is especially nice, is that you can find bittermelon and malunggay aka moringa leaves when in season. (Although these items are cheaper at Cerritos Farmers Market, this place is a good alternative if you didn't wake up on Saturday morning in time!) My mom amd I dislike the quality of commercial brand chicharron at the large chain supermarkets, so we've been buying the independent makers at Latino markets. That all changed when we tried the freshly cooked chicharron here! The pieces are smaller & crispy/crunchy, with a fewer ones as hard as a rock & saltier like at the Latino markets. My absolute favorite item to buy is the Patupat suman at the deli counter. Suman is a moist, soft yet chewy subtly sweet Filipino dessert/snack of glutinous rice that is cooked with coconut milk before being steamed in banana leaves. It is a great choice for anyone wanting something that is not cloyingly sweet and sugary. read more

Small grocery store. Seems like a real cozy place with good quality fish. We ended up buying some lobsters here which were great. They also had some interesting ingredients like grape seeds. Employees don't speak great English and we not the most helpful but everyone was really nice. read more

I shop here at times since its so close to my house. Therefore its convenient, and I do like that. I come to this store for mostly some basic Filipino/Asian foodstuffs, such as glass and rice noodles, and other items. I like buying the variety of canned tuna, some dry goods, etc. They do have delicious flan. I've been to other Filipino markets. To be honest, they are a bit like this one, but much larger. I'm not very familiar with most of them on a constant basis, so I don't have too much to compare to. This is not a bad place actually. Ordered lechon belly from here for a family party. We decided somewhat last minute to have a get together, but Tambuli Seafood Market was still able to deliver the belly at the requested time and day. The owner was super sweet and very accommodating. The skin, my favorite part to eat from the lechon, was crispy. It had the perfect amount of crunch when you bite into it. The meat itself was packed with flavor. You could taste the herbs and spices it was marinated and stuffed in...leeks, lemon grass, garlic, salt, and pepper. So good! It was definitely one of the highlights at our family feast. read more

I've been coming for 10 years here. I think even longer. They have reorganized so much and remodeled through the years. It use to be so bad. But I am glad they are now taking care especially these days to be clean and organized with their inventory. Protective plastic partitions are in place for now at the cashier stations during Covid19. The staff are usually very nice and helpful but some days you'll have to have alot of patience. The store usually has everything your Filipino dish needs in order for you to prepare. The inventory of rice on 5.8.2020 is fully stocked. I guess the hoarding is over. They also have hot food to-go. Get there at 11 a.m. to have first picks. They usually gave great items. read more

Only reason I like going here is for the convenience of it being so close to home... However, they need to update their hours on yelp and on their storefront. It says it closes at 7pm, but I've been there twice a little after 6pm and they were closed... Sundays it says their open until 7pm on yelp and 630pm on their door in front, but The cashier was yelling at people entering the store at 520pm "we're closing soon" ! Their business hours on the door state they close at 7PM, Mon thru Sat and we pulled up at 6:20PM on a Saturday only to see an employee put up the closed sign and lock the door. The employee opened the door and explained the 7PM time is for the employees to leave by that time. If that is the case, the business hours for customers need to be changed to whatever time they decide to lock the door and not let customers in. We liked the place and was a go to for Filipino specific foods/ingredients even before it was Tambuli, previously Hoa Binh many years ago, but this was very unfortunate to discover. We were turned away and had to go elsewhere. May come back in the future, but hesitant and disappointed and will look for alternatives. read more

I came here over the weekend to get some seafood which by the way they (fish) all look fresh. Well, they're not alive but they're fresh, hmmm, dead but fresh? How is that even possible. IDK but I am sure you can figure that out. Tambuli has wide variety of chips selection., and they're cheap compared to other Asian store. Their veggies however do not look fresh at all, they're expensive. And decomposing fruits, with especial mention bananas, are sometimes still on display. IDK if they're due for disposal or they're still up for bargain sale. In addition to that, I don't know if they have ventilation systems to exhaust frying odors from their fish frying area, but every time I go there, it's almost always smells, even when I arrive home my clothes carry that nasty frying odor. Excellent seafood, fantastic Asian food and fresh produce and lots of variety. I always buy my specialty Chinese and Thai food groceries there, and their fresh meats and fish are great ! I also buy my ocean fishing bait there as they have whole shrimp and frozen Squid! read more

Closest Filipino market to Cypress. I went here for small things like fruits/ veggies and some jars with essential foods. I never tried the fast food they have, although it does look appetizing. The workers seem friendly enough. I only asked for help once or twice. The place is very cramp and may look a little run down but its not the worse. Other filipino grocery stores may be better but for a quick stop considering the distance i don't mind going here. Parking is very easy since the complex is pretty empty. I came to the store yesterday at exactly 6:22 PM. In my surprise I wasn't able to shop because they put a lock from the inside that prevent customer to come in. And when i knock the cashier said they are closed already. It says on the information when you search the store that they are closing at 7PM and also the sign posted for hour of operation stated 8AM-7PM. Make sure to check expiration dates. Bought coconut water juice and it's too sour to drink. Smells like a mud. Second experience bought nagaraya nuts. The nuts are harder than stones. Can't break the nuts and if you do, it's your teeth that will surely break. Better watch out. This store has the habit of selling expired, absolete goods. read more
