My third visit to Kenneth's (2nd for my hair) was yet another success. I am submitting another review of Kenneth's primarily because I want to recognize Josh. My first hair stylist was unable to make my appointment and I was rescheduled with Josh, a level 5. When I re-scheduled I was told "you will love Josh, he is also one of our instructors and occasionally teaches classes". Any concerns I had dissipated. I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment at 5:45 on a weekday and Josh was right on time. I am a handshake kinda person, its just how I was taught and what I do. Josh responded in kind to my firm handshake and remarked "you were raised right" in response to our greeting. Okay, now I KNOW I'm gonna like Josh. Josh was polite, professional and kind. Right away after sitting in his chair Josh was direct and asked me about my hair, my concerns, what I wanted, and how he could help. I had pictures to show him and he commented on how i could achieve the look and what needed to happen to my hair to get to what I had in the picture. NOTE: I'm still reeling from a bad haircut several months ago. One notable moment was when he asked "if there was one thing you had a concern about what would it be"?. Whoa, that was a new one. I had an answer and he said he could help with style, product, the color I asked for, and my technique to make the most of my fine short hair. I cannot say enough great things about Josh. He knows the most current techniques for hair style and color both for my profession (I am an executive in banking) and age (I'm in my 51st year on this earth). This review is for the Reynoldsburg location. Absolutely terrible color job! I asked for some subtle highlights, stressing "not too light." The stylist that did my hair left the bleach on FAR too long and now my hair is practically platinum blond, which is NOT what I asked for. I literally look like I was trying to get Marilyn Monroe's hair color, which is NOT what I wanted when I said SUBTLE highlights in my medium brown hair. I paid $200 plus tip (that was with a 20% new customer discount). And now I'm going to have to go spend another $200 somewhere else fix this mess. Needless to say I will never be going back there. I asked for a light red color with blonde chunky highlights and Jane at the New Albany store ruined it, and did not listen to how I wanted it, and turned it a dark brown red with very few highlights, and got dye all around my scalp area. I called and told the phone line to get a redo, and the lady I spoke to was nasty and told me the dye on my forehead would wash off very rudely, and just was overall rude in general. NEVER GO HERE EVER. read more

I went to the salon this morning, and I am mixed on my vibe of this place/chain. The inside was spacious and nice overall, but zero magazines, yet plenty of large tables where you sit. Not everyone like to bum on their cell, so found that lacking. The stylist seemed nice, although quite young so flow of conversation was...meh. I'd say I was around 30 years older than her. She did ask some questions in preparation for my hair, but some things she was vague on or missed the mark. I could tell it was due to inexperience. I showed her two snapshots of what I wanted, and we agreed on one of em. We also agreed that I'd keep my base color, and just do all-over thin highlights. She updated the service desk about this, so that I would not get charged for overall coloring. The highlights came out nicely; she also used a glosser on it. The haircut, at first, was not what I wanted, so I started to feel that sinking in my gut. She asked how I like it, and I had to have her cut off a full inch (her initial cut was nothing like the photo), as well as stack the back some. This took about two cycles of me pointing out what I needed changed, for it to be closer to the photo. She did fix it decently, so it was good enough for me to leave content. What I wasn't content on was the total cost. While she gave me an idea of some of the cost, some things she did not know. I knew I couldn't "unring" the bell, so just paid it, which came close to $300 with tip. I cringed at the cost, and this is why I don't think I'd return. Mind you, I also had a free haircut, as it was a deal should you get coloring done. Even with free cut, it was that high in price. While this can acceptable if the result is astonishingly professional, I found the cut and color was average/decent. My last stylist could've done this for cheaper, so lesson learned on my end. They need to lower their cost to equal to the skill level. Period. Hence, I gave three stars. read more

i received an express keratin treatment which is suppose to last 6 weeks . 2.5 weeks in , my hair is a frizzy mess! i wash my hair 1-2 times per week. The policy states a 2 week full refund or redo ( its been 2.5 weeks ) i spoke with the manager , and she explained the 2 week policy which I understand. However , she would not help out at all ie: a discount , etc on a different service . I will not be going back to Kenneths ever again . Poor customer service ! read more

I was able to book everything online and appreciated the reminder texts. Luckily, I chose Patience for my service. She is new and getting her career started. This is my second visit to a Kenneth's Salon but my first visit to this location. The overall feel and vibe is traditional, clean, bright, and friendly. My appointment was for a facial both times and I love how the spa is separated from the rest of the salon. It truly helps set the tone for calm relaxation. I was receiving the polypeptide facial as I've had that previously and it truly makes a notable difference in the loo, feel and texture of my skin. They do a wonderful job of incorporating full relaxation with restorative techniques. My esthetician was very sweet and super informative without being salesy. Crazy I go in looking to get my 7 year olds hair cut I got in with Bria, let me start off by saying I was already disappointed when she started because they couldn't find the seat for my child to be boosted up so they had her sit on a bunch of towels, then while doing the cut had my daughter stand most of the time because they had nothing for her to sit on while they cut her hair. In addition She couldn't style her hair very well because her straightener was broken. after the cut I told her I didn't like the back the way it was and told her how I would like it fixed, she responded with go home and style it and come back if it's still not what you like because we close at 4 they put us on for 3 it was just a wash cut and style. After we started checking out the front desk told us to wait to see if there was someone else to fix it but seeing it was now after 4 they said no we will just give you 20% off and you can call us back another day. I don't appreciate the fact I now would have to go back in to have my child's hair fixed and the only day I can is Saturday as she is in school. I will not be returning back to kenneths anytime soon and neither will anyone I know. read more

I made the unfortunate mistake of trying to use box color on my hair and turned it dayglow orange...just a few days before my 30th class reunion AND Thanksgiving. Sherry at the New Albany location was able to get me in the next day and help fix my huge mistake. I was more than thrilled with the results and trusted her suggestions for how to color and highlight my hair to keep it healthy. I went back to her for a color retouch with several inches of regrowth and she was able to recalculate my color formula to obtain an even tone across my already colored and highlighted hair and the new, untouched regrowth. I highly recommend Sherry for your hair cutting and coloring needs. She has years of experience and is extremely knowledgeable. read more

I wanted brighter blonde thicker blended highlights, a trim & layers. What I got were thin barely visible highlights, very blonde roots and she only trimmed my ends. My hair also wasn't smooth, it was very coarse/frizzy. I immediately put my hair up as I left because I didn't like how big/frizzy it felt. I didn't see how bad my roots were until I got to my car. Of which, led to me crying for 10 minutes over how bad my roots were and that my hair wasn't even close to the picture I showed or what I said I wanted. I went back in to see if they could at least do something about my bright blonde roots and they were very kind/open to fixing my roots. Two other hair stylists were able to make time to fix my roots. One added toner to blend in my roots of which made me happy to get rid of the atrocity state my bright roots were in. The other washed and blow dried my hair and made my hair soft/ smooth, which also made me happy since that isn't what I previously left with. They didn't make me pay to have my roots fixed or my hair washed & blow dried and that was very gracious of them. However, my hair doesn't look like I got it done at all since I didn't get layers and my highlights are barely visible. I feel as if I wasted $200. With that being said I always take a picture & gloat over how good my hair looks when I leave the salon & this time wasn't it. I also wish I hadn't told anyone I was getting my hair done because it doesn't look like it & that's just going to be awkward when they see me. Since she did put bleach on my hair, I can't do anything about getting my hair fixed/highlighted the way I want anytime soon without destroying my hair. I'm almost content with her not doing layers because I'm not confident that she would have done them right either and I know there's no coming back from a choppy bad cut. This is the first time I'd gotten my hair done there and If I were to go back I'd want to see the stylists previous work prior to the appointment to choose someone with more experience/talent. I usually go to a hair stylist in Youngstown, but I let my boyfriend pick the place since he wanted to get my hair done for my birthday. I was hesitant about the appointment since I didn't know the hair stylist's capabilities, but nonetheless I was open to trying someone new. I hate that I can't say I'm happy with the results or that I found someone new to go to. The staff at the salon are definitely doing a 5 star job but the person I had an appointment with is hardly 1 star. read more

Not that because I'm stingy but because they have this website, they asked you about your preferences, i e are you more classic, modern , reserve style? Probably like 10 or more questions, and then they match you with someone amazing. Their salon was huge , it smelled nice in there , clean and tidy too. Arrived at their salon, got an 11:15 appointment via online too, how convenient! Receptionists were all smiles as soon as I entered. Evey who was my matched was super friendly and accommodating. Washed my hair, say down and was offered a cup of coffee. Showed her a picture of the hair I wanted. Bit of trim here and there , trimmed my bangs too, blow dry, style and voila we are done ! New Albany salon. My hair is as flat as cardboard. I think the training for the stylists needs to be improved. So I had a cut, highlight, and blow-dry which with a promotion for a free cut, and while the stylist was very sweet, it was obvious she was brand new to the profession and had to ask others every step of the way what to do. While the results weren't terrible, they were not what I t I wanted. So next time I booked with a more experienced stylist understanding I would pay for the cut as well as the color and style. Well, guess what, same result as it turns out she used the same exact products as the first time and they were not appropriate for my fine hair. Why have your hairstylist look at previous visit and redo the disaster. That is why your customer selected a new stylist, NOT to get the same mistakes repeated! Last year I had gone for first time and had a really good experience (so I know it can be done), went back few months later, and what a mistake! Wrong color (she even said results were too light, and so had to do a redo) but also the blow dry was horrible. What is wrong with this place! Next time I will try Penzone - for the prices they charge expect better! read more

Always professional and friendly but " not so to friendly as I don't need someone knowing my whole life story" some places they start digging personal questions that like "what- I'm not here to be you therapy I'm just getting a simple cut" no over bounds here. That may have come across wrong but have been other places they find out what I do and try exploit free treatment while again I'm just trying to get my hair trimmed in limits of time. This is the worst salon I have ever been to. I have previously dyed hair so it wasn't that dark before, however I went in for a full highlight and nobody can even tell that I got my hair done. My hairdresser's name was Alex and the session cost me close to $400. I will never be back. I was even told my hair looked darker. This place is an absolute scam. read more
