Their prices are already on the higher side, and although I knew I was paying more than most places, I continued going because I valued the relationship and liked their work. The manager was only available on one specific day to fix the nails, and unfortunately I was unavailable that day. Instead of trying to accommodate me or work with my schedule, they were completely inflexible. Not only did they refuse to work with me, but they also made me feel unappreciated as a long-time customer. After five years of loyalty, I expected much better customer service. Mesa Nails is a private studio, so appointments are quiet, relaxing, and genuinely feel like self-care instead of surviving a nail salon. They also don't do acrylics, so there are none of the overwhelming chemical smells. Asem is incredibly meticulous. Her shaping is perfect every single time, the cuticle work is probably the best I've ever had, and she pays attention to all the tiny details that most places rush through. No thick gel, uneven shaping, lumpy polish, or sloppy chop-shop work here. She removes only the dead cuticle carefully without damaging healthy skin, so I never leave with swollen, over-cut fingers pretending it's "normal." Everything is also exceptionally sanitary. All of the tools are sterilized, sealed, and opened in front of you, which I really appreciate. They also have a huge color selection, whether you're into classic neutrals or something more fun. Every photo I've attached is on my natural nails--no tips, forms, or extensions--which says a lot about the quality of her work. I've never had issues with lifting, chipping, or premature wear. They grow out beautifully and still look polished weeks later. It's one of those rare places where every appointment is consistently excellent. While the price is affordable, I will not come back due to sanitary issues & incorrect methods they use. We made appts for 12 pm and my nails were not started until 12:45 pm. My nail tech (Michelle) was very nice and she does nails well, however, she used the nail grinder tool to clean my cuticles. My cuticles HURT for hours after my nails were done and weeks after the appt, I still have cut up cuticles and scabbing from the blood (pictures attached). I wish I had known in the moment that this method is not okay; it should have been a cuticle cutter. Once I got to my car and quickly googled that I found: Grinders are made for shaping hard artificial or natural nail surfaces, not living skin. Using a high-speed rotating bit on the delicate cuticle and the nail bed can easily cause painful skin tears, deep friction burns, and severe infections. These aren't correct practices used by this salon; they are taking the easy route to get it done quickly. Would not recommend. I would give them 1 star but Yelp removes those reviews easily so that's why I'm putting 2-stars.
