We came in after a movie to spend a few hours watching the Olympics and enjoy some drinks and food. Immediately we noticed the Super loud SLOW R&B music and could not believe this was the choice for a sports bar. They should not play slow music as we all needed a nap after the first 3 Babyface slow songs. We planned to stay awhile to watch Olympics but had to get out of there before we all fell asleep. The food? Fantastic. The pizza came with a homemade crust that had me wondering if Joe keeps a team of Italian grandmothers in the back kneading dough by hand. The Thai wings and Thai boneless wings fought for second place, and honestly, it's a match I'd pay to watch again. The service? Excellent--my server didn't even flinch when I asked if it was socially acceptable to take a nap between courses. But the real highlight? My dinner companions. This is a solid restaurant with soooo many options for food. There's usually a meetup event going on (motorcycle meet, car meet, etc) - there was one going on Tuesday evening when we decided to stop in before the movies - it didn't deter us from eating here at all and the inside of the restaurant wasn't too busy despite it looking very crowded from the outside. The ambiance is a very standard "American food" styled restaurant - it seemed pretty clean which is always a plus. We didn't have a reservation or anything and we were seated right away. The host and our waitress were both very friendly the entire time - really great customer service. For our meals; my daughter ordered the kids chicken tender meal - we tried these chicken tenders and they were so delicious. I want to order them for myself next time lol I ordered the Joe's Carbonara - it wasn't the GREATEST pasta I've ever had, but I'd order it again if we stopped through, it was yummy. My boyfriend ordered the carnitas tacos - I didn't try them, but he said they were very middle of the road. Tuesdays they also have $4 margaritas - we ordered a couple of those and they were good. A work lunch with colleagues, we picked Tampa Joe's because there were options for everyone. Our waitress was Crystal (sp?) and she was super awesome. Refreshing drinks constantly, getting the lunches back to us in the right order and generally being sincerely friendly. I chose the Cobb salad and it was good. Oddly, it had shredded carrots in there and no avocado, but the grilled chicken (tossed in Buffalo sauce) was a nice addition. Plenty of blue cheese dressing on the side. One of my colleagues had the French Onion soup and pronounced it mediocre. Not much flavor and with a huge hunk of cheese on top of a small piece of French bread. So skip that. I wanted so bad to leave a five star review for Tampa Joes. Here is my review of what they did well and what they did not do well. It was Wednesday burger night when we went so we got burgers with sweet potato fries I got mushroom swiss and the wife got Jalapeño Joe. The beef on both was a good size and cooked well. The toppings on mine were good the toppings on the wifes were raw. The buns were not good and we both discarded them immediately. The sweet potato fries were soft not crispy so that was disappointing. The beer selection was traditional and acceptable but not craft by far. Since I was refunded a gift card on my last awful visit, we decided to give them one more try. We went early early this time hoping to have better service. We placed our order for drinks. I ordered unsweet iced tea and my husband ordered a beer. Server came back because they were out of the beer he ordered. So he ordered something different. She came back with his beer and brought me an ice water. I reminded her that I had ordered an unsweet tea. She left the water and apologized. Then she came back with a sweet tea. We waited at the host stand for a long time before anyone addressed us. We were seated outside and not given a kid's menu so had to ask for one. We got it but with no crayons. The kid's drink also came in an adult glass which of course spilled almost immediately. The inside had standard decor for a mid-range restaurant like an Applebees or Chilis but I would say the lounge looked appealing and large and more lively. The food was decent and the server was pleasant. However, the service was a bit slow and we had to track down the check because we were on our way to a movie (which we stated) and did not want to be late. We also had to ask for the movie ticket holder discount even though it was already mentioned and promoted in their parking lot. It was just ok. With the discount, the food was a good value. They have come a long way since buying the restaurant from Sandy. We went on Christmas Eve for the Eagles game so it was packed. At no time did we get the zen law from the wait staff that they wanted everyone out so kudos to them. We ordered the sampler platter and it was just perfect for watching the game. A little bit of everything to keep the table happy. All the patrons were tabbing out before the end of the game and as soon as the game was over, they cleared out like it was a fire drill. The shrimp scampi is moist and delicious with the right amount of shrimp. My coworker really enjoys the spaghetti and meatballs. She couldn't stop raving about it! Stopped in while in town the week of June 14, 2022. Not too many places open after 10, and I was looking for somewhere to eat at 9:30. I don't like being that final order somewhere, so I stopped in here, rather than somewhere that closed at 10. It took a few min to be seated, as not many people seemed to be left working th. It happened to be two for one night, and my server informed me of this when I ordered a single serve pizza; I went ahead and ordered a second for a quick lunch the next day while on a break from my convention in town. The first, a Hawaiian came out quickly and the ingredients all tasted fresh and good quality. The second was a BBQ chicken without cilantro, which arrived just as I was finishing my first pizza already boxed up and ready to go. Be aware- they are currently utilizing a surcharge for credit card purchases, but it is very clearly displayed at the seating counter. I hate giving bad reviews but I'm a realist and my money and time is valuable too especially when I'm treating myself to a night out. Our waitress was stressed from the time we arrived and made it known and although we understood the lack of hospitality was evident. We were there for 4 hours watching the football game and got our drinks in 45 min increments after asking for another and got attitude from staff just for asking. Them had to take the check inside because we waiting for 25 min for someone to collect our check and still got attitude like we did something wrong. That will be the last time I go there and it's sad bc I'm Philly fan and told so many about this place. No one apologized or said anything about the service. What a disgusting establishment. We had a nice visit from a German cockroach. That was cute. They are the most invasive of all the species of cockroach. I proceeded to hand the server a napkin to kill said roach. She did and was apologetic. The manager came to the booth and started looking around. He didn't introduce himself nor did he apologize. Love the football environment for a great day like Sunday. Overall, exactly what was expected. Sadly, these things were overshadowed by dismal service. Jackie was our server and had the manager not told us her name, we never would have known it. She forgot about us multiple times. When she did "check on us" she was less than friendly. At the end, after speaking with the manager, she came by and offered an apology. The gesture was appreciated but if we go back, we will specifically request not to be sat with her.
