WOW food is so fresh!!! Garlic Pork, salt & pepper Squid, and Snow Pea leaves in Garlic !!!! Phenomenal is all I can say!! It was just me and I ate to my hearts content!!! Food was SO SO FRESH and professionally prepared! I come to shop groceries at H-Mart on Colonial Pkwy so Thanks for coming from Bellaire closer to me!!! Luv ya TanTan!!!

*** Honey Walnut Shrimp What you've ordered is what you get. I think the portions were very good and reasonable. Flavor-wise, this is very standard. The Mayo cream is done well and smooth. The shrimp is not overcooked. For a to go order, the restaurant gave us an INCREDIBLY GENEROUS serving of rice that comes with it. ( this alone was enough for me to bump this up to a five star for their level of generosity). The staff is very quick and friendly. They are very prompt with handling there to go orders within the promised time frame. We didn't sit down to eat but the seating area was very spacious and very oriental notes and colors. It's a cute place!

The Bánh bột chiên (fried rice flour cake with egg) was as good as I remembered. I have to say, Tan Tan has always made it the best and continue to do so. The rice flour cakes are crispy on the outside with a soft bite on the inside. I love the vinegary soy sauce with pickled jalapeños slices. I can eat this as my main dish and be satisfied. The other dishes we ordered were good too, such as the fried rice and fried noodles. One of the elderly in our group did not enjoy the Bún Bò Huế. It was disappointing actually, because she rarely tries new places so this was a let down. The Bún Bò Huế here strays away from traditional, as it does not include familiar ingredients such as pig feet, but instead puts raw strips of beef in (to allow the soup to cook, similar to pho). She didn't enjoy it. What made it worse was that her soup spoon had dried remains of the previous meal on it. The server did not acknowledge the lack of cleanliness and just replaced it as if it was typical. Overall, I still recommend this place but not for the Bún Bò Huế.

Since I recently moved to Houston, this place has quickly become my favorite restaurant. I go there very often with my family because the food is absolutely delicious and the menu has a lot of variety. I am a huge fan of the Tan Tan in Chinatown so I definitely had high expectations for this restaurant. Upon walking into Tan Tan Wok, the staff led us to the adjoining restaurant called Jia Kitchen. I asked our server if we would be served food from Tan Tan, and he said that it was the same thing. Kind of confusing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is quite large and there was a large painted mural on the wall which was pleasant to look at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was nice and we had many different attendants throughout the meal that were constantly refilling water and clearing the table. The house special rice cake was good, but I could definitely tell that it was different than the original from Tan Tan in Chinatown. The flat rice noodles caused confusion because there are two different menu items: one is the Tossed flat rice noodle and the other is the Stir fried flat rice noodle. If you want the noodle with a lot of sauce on top of white noodles, order the stir fried noodle. If you want the dry noodle that is all stir fried together, get the Tossed flat rice noodle. I am used to the Bellaire location asking if I want the wet or dry version; I had no idea there would be essentially the same sounding dish listed on the menu twice. The salt toasted tofu was delectable, and had the perfect seasoning and texture. The salt toasted squid was a little off, and the batter was a too little thick and too crunchy. My diagnosis: unfortunately this did not live up to the Tan Tan in Chinatown.

I came here as a halfway point for me and my friends. What brought me here was the ratings and pictures of the food. The main reason I really wanted to try this place is because I love crispy noodles and I can only find that at the casino in Lake Charles. Surprisingly this place had it and it absolutely did not disappoint. It was such a large portion for a little cost. I ate on it twice. Everyone enjoyed their food - large portions - three of us ordered food for about 50 bucks not bad at all and I can't wait to go back. I did notice there was a lot of to go orders so obviously this place is the spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside was kind of empty, but I almost can understand why the staff is a little unusual. They rush you.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] From the moment we got in there it was only like two other people eating and they were honestly acting like vultures. We had three different people come within seconds of each other, asking if we were ready to order we were trying to catch up with each other because it was a friend meet and we just felt so rushed and out of place. They were very inpatient and stood by us the entire time as if we were going to dine and dash or something. Luckily the food was that good and inexpensive, it excused the behavior of the staff. I'm almost wondering if it was a culture thing to rush us out of there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was very clean even the restrooms.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant was connected to the one next door and that one was very packed.

My dad and uncle came back with one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes for an afternoon snack. They stopped by Tan Tan Wok in Katy to pick up some bánh bột chiên, their house special rice cakes. A staple from their original location in bellaire, these are eggs and rice cakes cooked together with a bunch of grilled onions and pork fat. They also provide their house made soy sauce, chili sauce, and some minced garlic to top it off, making the perfect savory snack. The eggs are perfectly cooked and the rice cakes are crispy but have such a fluffy interior. They soak up the sauce so well. I could eat these all day.

A friend highly recommended this spot, and even though I live nearby, I never checked it out until recently for a grad dinner lol! Their menu is endless! Every dish we ordered was spectacular! We got the fried rice, flat noodles, steamed and fried eggplant, mapo tofu, and the walnut shrimp. The beef flat noodles were one of my favs. It had a nice charred flavor. Only comment is that the beef was dry and tough. The fried eggplant was amazinggg. I've only eaten eggplant steamed so the crispiness of the fried eggplant was the best, and it was seasoned well. The mapo tofu flavor wasn't too intense (regarding the numbing sensation). It was a warm and hearty dish. The walnut shrimp was the star of the show - crispy and sweet (loved the candied walnuts). [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was plenty of seating![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was quick!! Since the restaurant is located in the heart of Katy Asian town, parking can be a bit challenging.

Don't go to this place. It's horrible food and horrible customer service. I went to pick up 4 dishes today. Everything looks ugly and taste terrible. Attached some pictures so you can see how terrible their food is. I also saw a big run out from the kitchen while we waiting for the food.

The ambience is nice, cultural atmosphere with vibrant decor. Great for lunch, I noticed there were some patrons who received food as soon as they arrived. I'm assuming they have service for pre-order and have dishes made, plated and served. Portions are good for sharing, the rice cake was delicious. We ordered 3 dishes, and one came after 20 mins which isn't bad but we waited for our 2 other dishes for almost an hour. We mentioned it to the waiter twice and nothing was done. Other people seated after was was served the same food we ordered before us and when asked they said pork takes longer to cook... an hour long? They forgot 2/3 dishes and didn't bring the 3rd dish until it was mentioned again. The food is okay but the service is terrible. read more

Totally amazing food. Such a nice surprise. We walked in basically without reading any reviews but just wanted to try out a new spot. So glad we did. We tried three dishes: 1. The walnut shrimp - 10/10 - large shrimp perfectly savory and sweet combination. There was a nice glaze from the walnut and the softer texture of the shrimp which perfectly balanced out the dish. 2. Baby bok choy with garlic sauce: 8/10 - a good veggie option which has a great crunchy texture and good with some of the heavier dishes. The garlic flavor was strong and was just right for the dish. Nice with some plain white rice. 3. Stir fried seafood black bean sauce with flat noodles - 9/10 - again a great dish which was a bit spicy and savory. The noodles were nice and chewy and the sauce was thick and flavorful. Overall so glad we tried this spot. Will definitely go back read more

Comfort food at its finest. Tan Tan and Jia Kitchen share the same (or extremely similar) menu so you go to one spot, and you'll get a feel for what the other is like, You must get the A1. And any rice dish, noodle dish, or combo dish you get, it'll feel like mama's cooking. read more

The perfect addition to Katy Asiatown! I love Tan Tan and this location doesn't disappoint. The Flat rice noodles will always be my favorite but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. If you love comfort Viet/Chinese food then you need to visit this place ASAP!! Usually when I eat out at an Viet restaurants, I would say to myself that I could make it better. That's not the case with this place! Everything we got was super flavorful and comforting. My favorite was the ban bot chien and the green beans. read more

Great food overall although I would probably Skip the dumplings on the next time. The breading on the orange chicken was much more like sweet and sour but still with the sauce was fairly good. The fried rice was well seasoned and taste wise spot on. The pork bun was well seasoned and the tea was hot and fresh. I would recommend another dish like the beef noodle which was better in my opinion than the chicken but honestly I would probably eat either again. read more

I've been here multiple times and every time I've found something in it. This time( we order to go) and last time ( we ate in) found a piece of steel from a steel sponge that they used to wash pots and pans. I've also order to go again and the next day it was spoiled and moldy. It was like they gave us spoiled food already. Their service was not good at all. read more

Flavorful, yet light. Took my grandparents here and they loved it, which says a lot because they are super picky eaters. I can never go wrong with ordering their squid ink rice and their walnut shrimp. The squid ink rice was a huge portion, enough to feed the five of us. The walnut shrimp were huge and the glaze was deliciously sweet. We also got the rice cake pancake and it was also super very good. Food was delicious. We had the roti with curry, squid ink fried rice, and the shrimp and pork wonton soup. All three dishes were great. The wontons were delicate, the broth was rich yet light and the pork cracklings toppings were nice and crunchy. The egg yolk added a nice richness to the fried rice and had nice bits of squid. This used to be Tan Tan on Westheimer, and now the owner has moved to KatyAsian town. The restaurant beside it, Tjia, is also a part of Tan Tan Wok. The entree dishes here are great to eat and are of reasonable pricing ($10+), and the servers are quick and responsive to customers' needs. The ambiance gives off a quaint Vietnamese vibe while the tables are wiped clean and cleared as promptly as possible for the next set of guests. read more

When seated, we were really close to the door and I get cold easily, so I asked to he moved to a table closer to the back. They said no because they're reseving those tables for bigger groups, understandable. Not even 2 minutes later, they break said table to smaller ones to sit another party. When ordering, the waitress said they aren't making the food of my choice, okay. When I went to the front checkout, the lady said they would make it. It would just take 40 minutes. I already had to sit around for my food for 25, another 15 wouldn't have hurt me. But it was too late to order now. Such horrible service this time around. read more

Do not come hungry. I have been waiting a half hour for my food and it's not ready yet. Maybe take out orders get pushed in favor of done in customers. Update: The food took a little under an hour. Do not believe them when they tell you it will be three more minutes. I did bump this review up from 1 star because the food is really good. Just don't expect an apology if your food takes awhile. Come hungry, leave hangry. read more

Omg!!! Came to Katy Asia Town for Hawaiian food and saw that there's a Tan Tan in Katy!!! Sooooo happy!!! I've been going to the one on bellaire for 20+ years. This location opened about a month ago. We had to try it and so nixed Hawaiian food (for tonight.) it did not disappoint. We had Canh Chua Ca (hot and sour soup with fish), chicken and salted fried rice and fried intestines. I know it's a weird mush mash but I was so excited I wanted all my favorite things at once. The restaurant is decorated well and very neat and clean. The same owners own the restaurant next door (the name escapes me right now) and it has noodles AND you can order either menu at Tan Tan. We will be returning!! Anson, our waiter, was so nice and very knowledgeable of the menu. He says he worked at the Westheimer Tan Tan. read more

9.2/10, would certainly go again! This place was authentic, delicious, and the staff was so helpful and welcoming! The only thing I didn't love was the rice cake as it just wasn't my type of dish (but my girlfriend loved it). One thing to note is Tan Tan Wok is combined with the restaurant next door, which might confuse some but rest assured you are at the right place! read more

Service was okay. I don't usually knock on the service unless it was awful or it really killed my mood. Food on the other hand was lacking. We ordered the garlic snow peas, Peking duck, and toasted salted spare ribs. I thought maybe expectations were too high given I've had some great Peking duck and salted spare ribs in other places but came to the conclusion that the ribs were lacking a lot of flavor and the girlfriend kept saying the duck really wasn't all that great. There was too much batter on the ribs and not enough salt. Kind of weird writing that because I've never encountered this issue before. The bao was good. Duck skin wasn't very crispy. Meat wasn't very flavorful. Very large cucumber circles. It's a weird complaint but it doesn't fit into the bao very well. Garlic snow pea leaves were good. No complaints there. Okay place. Not terrible but definitely lacking. read more

Came here with the girlfriend's family for dinner on a weekday. Just to start off, this style of food is not my cup of tea. I usually go for authentic Chinese or Vietnamese, this resturant seems like somewhat a mix of both. Not sure what we all ordered in terms of dish names but I ordered the General Tso chicken and it was very average (3/5). Some other dishes include an egg pancake dish (4/5) and seafood fried rice (really salty, 2/5). Good chance that we did not order the dishes they were known for but I was not impressed with the food. We were the only ones dining in, staff followed COVID procedures. Plenty of parking available read more

Service is very impersonal but pretty fast and accurate. I like the banh cuon a lot but my wife (from Vietnam) says it's too sweet. Walnut shrimp is also great but also a little sweet. The portions are a little small for the price but I still like the place and go back. read more

I got my appetizer perfectly fine. My best friend and her kids got their soup and rice at a good amount of time. All I ordered was a seaweed seafood tofu soup. That's all shouldn't take that long. Got here at 7:15. It's 8:15 I never got my food and I didn't want it anymore. My friend finished her food. People come to eat as a family. Not one dish at a time. Really bad service. Asked 3 different people for my food they said yeah ok. Never came. 4th one ignored me. Yeah while it may taste good it was extremely bad service. read more

Not sure what the rave is all about but I got the diced beef with fried rice and it was disgusting. The sauce was slimy and overwhelming with charcoal taste to it. Looked nothing like the picture and very disappointed. I won't be back, not at this location at least. read more

Something pretty rare in there also are their restrooms. It is an all gender restroom where there's sinks in the main hall to the 2 single toilet rooms. Definitely my brother's personal favorite; I'm sure he ate 3 of them! Hainanese Chicken & Rice - Very tender and chewy with a mild flavor. The ginger-and-scallion sauce at the bottom was very refreshing, and the aromatic rice was among the most delicious I've had! I saw that the grains looked similar to Vietnamese broken rice because they weren't fully rounded. For some reason, this made the texture so much more appealing to me. Curry Chicken Puff - Love the curry flavor of this and the delicacy of the puff pastry. The shell isn't too thick, and the vegetables are very well infused with the curry, making them strong contributors to the overall flavor. Despite it being a pastry, I didn't feel overwhelmed by the carbs--indicating that the breading-to-stuffing ratio of this sat at the perfect pinnacle. Malaysian Roti Canai - One of my absolute favorite dishes here. I would come to this place just for this--the whole table compared the combo to crack. No joke. The chicken and potatoes are some of the most tender pieces in this dish, and you could slurp the broth like it's its own dish. I watched this go way too fast, and even two orders per table were not enough to satisfy the crowd. Malaysian Roti Canai (w. Egg) - Love the original much more, but this was still very delicious. They made the egg very thin, so it didn't overwhelm the roti. The egg took away from my favorite roti taste, but it was so well seasoned I wasn't even that angry about it. Malaysian Char Kuey Teow (Migoreng) - OOH. This has a unique flavor--much more savory than packaged ramen. The texture of the noodles is very inviting. It's much less salty compared to the pre-packaged Migoreng. The flavor was more umami. Rich, deep, and just the perfect amount to coat the noodles. Stir-Fried Mixed Vegetable (w. Tofu) - This is a very saucy vegetable dish, but I didn't mind it at all. I loved it, though it was the last dish I had and I was definitely stuffed by then. The sauce reminds me of a thinner Migoreng sauce--more viscous than a loose sauce, but not as thick as Migoreng. Very good, but my taste buds were definitely overwhelmed at this point. Malaysian Milk Tea - Not as sweet as I expected. I was told the tea leaves were imported from Malaysia, and our table ended up ordering six of them. The lingering bitterness in the aftertaste is something I'm very fond of, and the tea flavor is exceptionally rich. The milk infusion in this is peak. Malaysian Lime "Calamansi" & Plum Drink - Tasted like a lime-tamarind drink to my BF, while my brother and I thought it tasted like Vietnamese chanh muối. I've finally made it to the original spot for the legendary soup dumplings. "Better than din Tai fung", so I've heard. I can finally confirm: these are probably the best soup dumplings in Houston. We arrived around 6:15PM on a Monday after leaving Spa World (yeah, I was off for the day after an exam). No wait, though I've heard it gets quite busy and it was still decent busy while we were there. Service was very prompt and didn't keep us waiting to put an order in, and dumplings came out hot! We got: #85 Tomatoes and Pork Soup Dumplings (5/5): Whatever they put in this broth, it's like liquid crack. MSG? Who knows. The dumplings come with the perfect texture and you can literally lift them up and see the filled soup inside. Not a single one was broken. The soup was fantastic and the dumpling was excellent. It's seriously the best I've had in Houston and maybe in the U.S. #24 Pork & Scallion Thumb Bun (4.5/5): It was a tad salty, but the scallion offset the pork really well and they were perfect small bites. #27 Spicy Pork & Shrimp Wontons (4.5/5): Loved the red sauce, great wonton texture overall. No extra dips needed. I'm definitely going to try their other location and it's totally worth the trek to this one. Awesome job to the team here!

Please read the other reviews they not lying: Went here with a couple of friends from out of town and did not have a pleasant time. The customer service was absolutely horrible. When they were bringing food to the table, they were just dropping it anywhere. One of the waiters brought my food to the wrong table. When I told him it was mine he said let me go and confirm that after the table he left it at said it wasn't theirs. As if I was a liar. If I were to have asked for something, they would bring it to the table and leave it with somebody who didn't ask for it. We were there all of 20 minutes. The food was absolutely bland and not good at all. I took about two bites out of my food and so did my friends we all ordered different things and we did not like it. It was not palatable. And I can eat anything but I could not eat that. We let the one of the waiters know because there are multiple waiters coming to our table did not feel personal at all. We also let the manager know in the most respectful way possible (didn't want to be the stereotypical, angry, black person) and he said well what do you want me to do about it? I was shocked. He started whispering to my friend who was offering to pay for us and I said hey we all have money here too, and we're all customers as well. You can talk to us as well. None of us like our food my friend spoke up as well. He didn't like his food and neither did my other friend like their food and he was like well you still need to pay. I hate to be the person that pulls the race card, but it definitely felt like we were not wanted there. He was assuming that we didn't have money which he didn't even try to hide. We asked if we can order something else on the menu because this was not it and we asked for recommendations and he basically told us that all the food is used at the same base and it all taste the same and he made it very apparent of wanting to get us out and make us leave then to accommodate us and again nobody yelled. Nobody raise their voice. We're speaking in a very respectful manner and it just felt like we weren't wanted. The waiters were not helpful and we were the only Black people in there. It was a very hurtful feeling because I do like the area and I've just never experienced service like this in my life. read more

Didnt know bean sprouts, onions and green onions are not vegetable. We ordered to go a tossed flat rice noodle with beef, with NO VEGETABLE. It came with noodle, beef, sauce, green, white onions and bean sprouts. We called them and overheard they talked to each other, saying I didnt mention any modifications to the order. But when the guy that took our order got on the phone he said "you guys didnt tell me no bean sprouts", which we responded with "yea, we said no vegetable". So does bean sprout counts as vegetable or no? There only solution they gave was, "give me your name and phone number, when you come next time management maybe they give you a discount or something." Not sure we'll be back to get that hefty discount. Also there was no management available, asked to talk to management but all we got was 2 guys in the front passing the phone back and forth. Also, im guessing since they're not management, they didn't have any obligation to resolve the issue, last word he said was "fuck" and hung up. Cute read more

Great Flavor and Fresh Ingredients! I recently visited Tan Tan Wok, and I was really impressed with the experience! The restaurant has a warm and welcoming vibe, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered the kung pao chicken and a side of steamed dumplings, and both dishes were packed with flavor. The kung pao chicken was perfectly spicy, with just the right balance of heat and sweetness. The dumplings were also top-notch--fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. The menu has a lot of great options, and I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more! Everything tasted fresh, and the portion sizes were generous. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the service was a little slow, but the food definitely made up for it. One of the best places I've ever been introduced to. I've had a few dishes but I've stuck mainly to my original introduction of my first visit and selections on the menu. The Roasted Duck and the Snow Pea leave with garlic. Not only are both items AMAZING, but the portion for both are incredibly large. Even for the duck to be a half portion. Aside from that, the people there are just absolutely phenomenal. Kind, aware and attentive. The owner Ming - when he speaks you feel how kind his soul is . The young girl Thuy - she is so amazing and one of the sweet souls I've met as well. Tomball doesn't seem but a skip and a jump when you have a Tan Tan to go to- if that makes sense . The food, people & the atmosphere makes it all worth any day. read more

Extremely disappointed with this restaurant on Christmas day. Initially, we were patient about a 40-minute wait for our food, but after waiting over an hour with no updates and discovering our order wasn't even in the system, it's beyond frustrating. read more

Excellent food and service. Very authentic whether it's Chinese or Vietnamese. We have tried may things and love them all. Ambience is a little itchy but acceptable. I loved the Crispy Shrimp Crispy Wings and Loc Lac. Their lemonade is yum too. read more
