Don't even think about it, just go see Colin and Tati at Tanaka Auto! I put off getting my Honda Odyssey checked for overheating at low speeds and while idle. Went on vacay and came home to realize it was happening more frequently and quicker. I let Tati know what was going on and she recommended for me to drop off on a Tuesday for it to get looked at. When I brought the car in, it was busy busy so I honestly assumed it'd be there maybe a week or so. To my surprise Colin contacted me Thursday to let me know he had found the problem. Bad radiator and condenser fans for cooling system. He gave me a quote on what it would be for parts and labor and I gave him the green light. Colin let me know Friday morning my car was all fixed up and ready. They had let her run for a bit to make sure no overheating occurred and all went so well! I was soooooooo happy and thankful for everyone at Tanaka Auto. Definitely my go to. Not my first visit with them so this review is long overdue! read more

I highly recommend this place for an oil change for any luxury brand car. I brought my 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 in today. Collin, the owner with the tattoo, guided me through the process. The service was fast--only 30-35 minutes compared to 2-3 hours at a dealership. Collin corrected the tire pressure, did an 8-point inspection, and checked the brake pads. He even reset the service indicator without starting the engine to save gas. Though you won't find dealership perks like AC, drinks, or a sofa, the price I paid ($172) was much cheaper than the $500 at a dealership. If you have a Mercedes-Benz, this is the place to go. I spoke with Colin yesterday 2-26-2021, he is the ONLY mechanic on the island of Oahu who is willing to repair my 2000 Cavalier wiper transmission arm, it is badly corroded and broke off! He found my car's part at O'Reilly and the Chevrolet Dealer. He will call this Monday on the cost of the wiper transmission. Chris Miyaji. My initial daily (2005 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally) was starting to overheat. Thankfully my girl Tatiana saw my cry for help and immediately told me to come down so Colin could take a look. I was there (and seen) the very next morning. Talk about perfect timing; once I parked, my car would no longer turn over. We decided to change out the radiator first and Colin was quick to order the part that same morning. I spent time in the office with their lovely doggo Yuri and was comfortable waiting on things to get changed (they even offered me some of their lunch) lol Unfortunately, the problem was in fact bigger and we needed to send my engine to the mechanics shop for review/repair. They were so kind and considerate, kept me updated on the status and allowed me to keep my car at the shop while waiting for it to get fixed. They even taped up the leak in my sunroof after the major rains the week prior. They gave me a great deal and the best customer service you could ask for. I got my car back and she runs better than ever, it's like I have a new car. I am extremely grateful for Tatiana, Colin and everyone at Tanaka Auto for taking care of me, my car and just being there in my time of dire need. Tanaka's is the only place I will take my Mercedes for repairs! Colin saved our recently purchased 2013 Mercedes GL450 from the salvage yard! The dealer wanted $50,000 for a new engine. We found a used engine with a warranty on ebay, shipped it to HI, and Colin agreed to take on the difficult task of installing it. I could find only 2 mechanics locally who were willing and able to do the swap. He answered my texts quickly and kept us updated on any delays. He was patient with our questions and requests and is very knowledgeable about Mercedes cars. His staff is friendly too. We have driven the car for about 3 weeks now with no issues after installation. His labor prices are fair. We highly recommend Colin! read more

I requested for a quote through Yelp and they responded pretty quick. They were able to get the tires that I needed for the next day to install. It's first come first serve. I didn't wait long since I came in a little after 9:00 am. Very friendly service and plus they had a cute pooch as an office assistant when I went in to to pay. Tanaka Auto has the best service when it comes to taking care of your car. My alternator blew and Colin and his guys were able to replace it within a DAY, even though it's such a hassle to change. He's extremely reasonable and respectable in a line of work where it's hard to find trustworthy business. The team is so hardorking and they're my go-to place for servicing my car because I know they're not going to rip me off but still get the job done. So far this year, they've changed my tires, oil, and now alternator and I feel like my 2011 Camry got a face lift. No doubt, trust these guys. They'll hook it up. read more

I hardly write reviews, but I am putting one up for these guys because they're that awesome. I was looking for someone to I stall tires I bought off Amazon, and answers from other guys ranged from "we're not touching what we don't sell" to "yeah, but it'll cost you $$$ and we don't have openings until two weeks from now." I drove in and Tanaka took a look around and said to come back after lunch. Dropped the car off at 1300 and they called back at 1600 to say all five tires were done (exactly on time). The old tires were removed without damage and the new ones were properly mounted, balanced, and filled. They even had the old tires loaded in my vehicle neatly without getting anything dirty. Real good guys, they've got the best prices and have been helping out plenty people getting their rides fixed on a budget due to CoViD. Definitely will be going back for other needs. read more
