The staff genuinely treats customers like family, they are honest, and never try to sell us unnecessary services. Since my spouse travels frequently for work, this is the only shop they trust to handle our car while they're away. Recently, I had an issue and was concerned about some noises coming from our vehicle. I left a voicemail, got a callback within an hour, and given our situation, they worked with us to come in to ensure everything was okay. But, just like a sickly child walking into the doctor's office looking perfectly healthy, our car didn't make the noise when it was checked, haha. The staff suggested recording the sound and bringing it back if it worsened over the weekend, as they are closed then. Also, when they don't have loaners available, they have a very reasonably priced partnership with Enterprise if a rental is needed. First of all, I would like to say the ONLY reason I decided to go with Pearl City Auto Works was because they had 5 star reviews. After my experience with them, they deserve a 1 star. If I could I would give them a 0. 2 and a half years ago, I took my car to Pearl City Auto Works for a brake job. It cost me almost $5k to do it. Now they told me I gotta spend another $2400 to fix the same problem. My other half and I talked business with the owner's daughter Shay Nakamura about the situation and asked certain questions and she couldn't give any feedback to the situation at hand. She tried to give me a discount, but I don't think it was enough, considering I know for a fact they are charging me 3-4x the actual cost for the parts and then will eventually get more money back because of the cores. I text the number they text me with explaining my situation and there were no response. 2 phone numbers they text me from I left a text message, no response. That right there shows me that that they have poor communication skills. Communication was done with text. To be honest, I prefer real conversation with a person/company. I believe that they either did a poor job 2 and a half years ago or the quality of parts they used suck!! I got ripped off the first time and they tried to do that again the second time around. They took the keys, verified the insurance and current registration and I settled into a comfy chair in the waiting room. Took half an hour and I was given back the keys and sent on my merry way! Let me first start by saying it is hard looking for a shop that won't take advantage of you especially as a female since most of us like myself are clueless on auto repair. I searched and searched for somewhere that seemed like their reviews reflected that same thing i was looking for. Falling on some hard times i had a registration that was expired for 2 years as well as my safety and my car hasn't been maintenanced in god knows how long, thank goodness i have a Toyota! Finally able to stop riding dirty and get caught up, i was in search for someone to check my service light as well as do my failed safety so i could get my reg. After searching for a place review after review, it seemed that Pearl City Auto Works stood out to me. I messaged on yelp and someone got back to me within an hour or two and i was told to bring the car the following day to get looked and and possibly leave it overnight. Even though i need my car, i was going to do what it took so i can get my car legal again. Upon checking in i was greeted by a Shay ( i think that was her name) she went over everything with me. I left and later that day around 5:30 i got a call from the tech saying that everything was done and i could pick it up, i was confused because it was past their working hours but he said they were still working! That was already amazing to me that they were working even after they were technically closed. They also have a texting system with pictures to tell you what is good about your car, what needs to be fixed sooner rather than later and things that need to be fixed but not as urgent. As another reviewer said they have a lot of parking as they are located near where Ige's is. Upon pick up i got my bill and was not overcharged for anything and they did not try to do services that were unnecessary, very affordable in my eyes. I am definitely coming back here again and again!! Love the customer service and even when i talked to the technician he was super nice, usually they are grumpy and trying to end the convo. Great communications, a few hours later they identified the cause of the noise and provided me with a detailed quote. Came here for a 2022 safety check in October last year. Booking a no contact appointment online was a huge upside. They were able to confirm a date and time via email. Staff were friendly. Was a less than 30 minute operation from start to finish. The location is busy so I suggest being prompt to your appt. The waiting area is nice and ACed. It also is sound proofed so the garage noises dont bother you. Dinged a star as this place is hard to find. It is the first row, facing the ditch, in Harbor Center. Lots of cars parked on the sides so its basically a one way. Be safe coming in and out of this garage. Signage isnt big enough to see from the road. read more

09/23/2025 First time customer, went in for A/C diagnostic because was blowing warm air & vehicle diagnostic. They found A/C evap core was leaking & needed to be replaced waiting on parts to confirm scheduled repairs. Also needed other small repairs which Jen & Shay did a great job in explaining what repairs were priority to be done first before working on A/C to get my 2015 Chevy Camaro in perfect working driving condition. Repairs needed to be done first were replaced radiator cap to keep pressures optimal, front inner tie rods replaced, wheel alignment, replaced car battery in my trunk under my spare because battery was at the end of its life, new differential fluid, & new transmission pan due to a small leak. A/C repair would be the final big job to replace the evap core. The staff there were very knowledgeable in answering all my questions & Carter my service technician did a great job working on my vehicle, noticed a great improvement in the vehicle after. I needed the AC in my car fixed after the horrible job an auto shop in mililani did. So I called Pearl City auto after high praise about this place by a good friend of mine. When I called for an appointment I was told that the next available appointment was about two weeks out. To me that was the first good sign, cause you do good work, you busy. They offered me a loaner which was a pleasant surprise and a major bonus! On appointment day when I dropped off my car, I was greeted by the girls up front who were very helpful and friendly. They gave me a loaner and one of the girls called me soon after with a quote. The work was done in about two and a half days! I'm talking about major AC repair that required my entire dashboard area to be removed among other things! For the Safety Check, I was impressed with all of the photo angles taken and the email I received containing the 9-point inspection report with findings for future attention. For as old as my truck is (2003), I appreciate the TLC given by the technician. With the Stay at Home / Work from Home order announced by the Mayor of Honolulu effective March 23rd @ 4:30pm, I remembered my safety check would expire at the end of this month. I called my usual go-to auto mechanic, and found out they would be closing up shop and no safety checks until April. Well, I frantically started searching for a place and found this hidden gem! I called at 9am and was fortunate to get an Appt same day, early afternoon (the other shop only takes walk-ins). Pearl City Auto Works is located off of Kam Hwy, in between the Goodwill and Napa Auto Parts. The facility is super duper clean and organized! The waiting area is comfortable, offering seats for up to 4-5 people, and a large window so customers can keep an eye on their vehicle while undergoing service. $25 and 20 minutes later, my truck passed inspection and we were good to go! The advisor asked if I were paying by cash or credit card - very convenient (the other place is cash only). I'm thinking the next time I need work on my vehicle, I'd bring it here. Great service overall!! BTW, with the COVID-19 ordeal, they had a large sign at the door stating "if you're sick do not come in" and sanitizing wipes at the counter. read more

Scheduled an oil change and diagnostic for my check engine light being on. A coworker recommended PCAW and i had to check them out. I called and scheduled an appointment for today 1/25 for 6am drop off. I was able to get a loaner and was surprised how easy it all was. Now I'm not a car guy at all, i know the bare minimum about cars and I'm clueless about alot of things but Keoki and the entire PCAW team was super helpful and understanding! Keoki called me informing me the diagnostic reading showed a recall code and that i should contact my dealership. He then walked me through the whole courtesy checklist they send out and informed me of my battery level and transmission dip stick missing as well as my fuel injectors needing to be cleaned soon. He also let me know my back wiper blade needing changing and i asked if they were able to do it for me and he said yes. This is the first time i have ever felt so welcomed at a repair shop! I will definitely be coming back for all the future repairs I'll be needing and I'm thankful for PCAW and Keoki because one thing I've always been looking for is a place that lets me know when i need to get things checked out. Quality, professional, friendly service! I decided to find a new place for my auto repair needs since NEX Auto Care went from mediocre on-post to bad off-post. Customers get what they pay for with their cheaper, tax-free services. Here, I will share PCAW's amazing qualities that NEX can learn from. I was due for a safety check, and I was aware my rear shocks and struts needed to be fix or replaced to pass the check. My car had all sorts of minor wear-and-tear issues alongside (I drive an older, but faithful Honda haha!) but PCAW does a great job breaking down every single issue and everything that was still working well. It was clear to see what issues were high or low priority. I was receiving automatic SMS text updates about the status of my car work which kicked off the moment I made an appointment with front desk, another friendly and pleasant experience! In short, Keoki was honest about the condition of my car but never forced me into agreeing on any service. He explained the work that would be done and results if we went through or skipped a certain service. He would refuse to start a service until he explained pricing to me and ensured I understood what was going to happen to my car. How's that for honesty and not ripping customers off! After my rear shocks, struts and another part were replaced to pass the safety check, I retrieved my car, and it felt like driving a new car! I almost couldn't recognize my own car. I also received a voucher for a courtesy safety check for next year. Score! Keoki and the staff at PCAW are friendly, professional, honest, and transparent with customers. It's like having that cousin, uncle, or aunty in the family who knows all about cars. They wouldn't take advantage of customers who aren't well versed on car maintenance beyond pumping gas, oil changes, and tire rotations. I never thought I'd confidently know more about my car until this experience. My worries of getting ripped off once again by auto repair shops are now over. update 4/2022 Scheduled a safety check they didn't (or no longer do) any 4:30 appointments but I was able to schedule a drop off during my lunch break and pick up a loaner (at no cost, besides gas). Prior to appointment I asked if I could add on an oil change. At time of drop off I forgot my insurance card once again and I remembered that a window needed repair because I saw the tape I had holding it shut. It took an extra 2 days before they recieved the part but that was not on them. I loved the service, everything else was done same day, and I enjoyed driving the loaner. only thing I would change is major odor removal of the loaner as it smelled like my grandpa's "work truck". Then again the only charge was the gas I used so for me that made it bearable. And they gave me a free safety check for next year! Original Post 01/2021 : Scheduled a 4:30pm safety check after work. Got there a little early. Was back on the road at 4:43pm. I also forgot my insurance card. They were able to accept an email of the card I got from my insurance company's website. One of my warning lights intermittently kept going off until one day I got stuck on my way to work. Found out that my alternator needed to be replaced. Although it was a bit tricky, they were able to fix my car and the fact that they have loaners available makes a challenging situation easier to handle.
