The only Bartender helped the only waitress one time and with only one table And then she spent nearly an entire hour behind the bar complaining about her trip to Maine with two patrons As the rest of the bar seats remained empty. Very annoying having to listen to that as my family had to wait way too long for service, refills on alcohol, boxes, and the check. One suggestion, before you bring out several to go boxes it would help if you could clear the table first So the person doing the work actually has a spot. Food was decent but would be better if it came out appropriately and then could have been eaten hot. Beer list is so underwhelming. If you're looking to go out and just have good beer this isn't the place for that. They lack some basic alcohols to make common beverages. read more

This is a new restaurant, and we stopped in when they were serving brunch. It did not disappoint! There are hardly any restaurants where you can get thick-cut, smoked on site, excellent bacon, but they have it! This was an interesting experience. We've driven by this location on numerous occasions and saw that it was open, so we decided to stop in for some lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Knowing they had a decent beer selection, it seemed like a great place after a wonderful hike up on Mount Lemmon. This restaurant wasn't particularly busy, and after a few moments of standing next to the "Please Wait To Be Seated" sign at the door, a very nice person came over and led us into the area with the tables. She said we could sit wherever we wanted. We sat down in a booth near the bar, she gave us a drink menu and a couple of food menus and immediately asked us if we knew what we wanted. This struck me as funny because the menus hadn't even made it to the table yet and she's asking me what I wanted. We suggested a glass of water each for the two of us, and in 30 seconds she brought that water and asked if we knew what we wanted. The beer menu says, "ask your server about our rotating taps", or something of that nature. I did just that and the server had no idea, looked like a deer that had been caught in the headlamps, and went over to the front door where she pulled out a piece of paper with apparently a list of illegible beer types. I skipped the illegible beers, though to be fair, she did mention something called "Hey Girl" a couple of times, and then ordered something that I could read. The beer arrived and she asked what we wanted. Enough time had passed for us to digest the contents of the menu, so we placed our order. Now this is where it gets a little more awkward. Now, I know we now have the technology to have a handheld doo-dad in the serving staff's hand so they can plunk in the order right there, gather the payment at the end right at the table, etc. But the server seemed to be struggling and I couldn't tell if she was texting a friend or entering our order. I'm all for technology, but extended, awkward interludes of tapping are indicative of technology that doesn't really fit the bill. The order was finally placed. I remarked, "I'll hold onto the beer menu in case I want another beer". She said collected the food menus and asked, "Oh, are you going to hold onto the drink menu?" I said yes. The food arrived. The portions were generous, the food was good, and other than an awkward vibe that lingered throughout the entire meal whenever the server came over, we did OK. Though, we weren't finished with our meal and she came over with the electronic doo-dad ready for us to pay. We just did and off we went. The only other remark was my companion noticing that iced tea is served in to-go cups right from the beginning, instead of a glass for in the dining room and perhaps the offer of a to-go cup at the end of the meal. read more

Some friends and I met up here for lunch, none of us having been there before. Their menu isn't big, but there are still enough options for everyone to find something to enjoy. I ordered the wild mushroom burger with crispy onions and no bun. It came with humongous homemade potato chips. Even though I'm not supposed to have potatoes, I tried one and they were very good. I would've substituted a side salad, but it was $4-5 for that. The burger was cooked nicely and had lots of mushrooms and crispy onion strings. Everyone else enjoyed their choices, too. I know there brunch is limited to a couple days but it was the best breakfast I've had in my life, the chicken and French toast croissant was amazing and the ice coffee was also very good, it's very rare you take your first bite of food and just smile, becuase it's so good read more

This place seems to be confused about its identity. Menu is presented as chef-driven and slightly upscale. Appearance is more like a disjointed diner. There are three seating areas, the first one they tried to seat us in was cavernous with about six tables. Attempted to seat us at a table right next to the kitchen with other empty tables in view. No thanks. The hostess was very accommodating when we asked to be seated in the other area near the bar. Butternut squash ravioli is divine. The side salad (not on menu) was quite large and had great flavor with fresh avocado. The Tandem toast was interesting, several varieties to choose from. Tried the lobster and shrimp, which was great, as well as the house made bacon with tomato and aioli, which was pretty good. The mushroom pasta was forgettable. They had fish and chips on special and it was pretty average. So ... enough working well to give it another try. read more

I was glad to see another restaurant in my area. Driving across town for a good, interesting, non-stuffy old person meal was getting old. And they didn't disapoint. They have a fast casual side and a normal bar and seated restaurant. I'll have to try the fast side for lunch. The place is new with an odd layout but that didnt bother us. the menu is intersting and offers many combos, like you can have an app and dinner or you can have a couple apps, or you can have their brusceta type thing with loaded fries, etc etc. We had the wellington app which was short rib in puff pastry bites with a mushroom sauce. it was fantastic. we then had a hand made sacchetti pasta in a mushroom and spinach sauce that was great. But my favorite was the short rib cheesesteak that came with a cup of the sauce used for the pasta to dip it in. I'm craving it now just thinkjng about it. I highly recommend giving this place a try. We intended to go elsewhere but that place was closed and my wife noticed Tandem American Eatery on our drive home so we did a u-turn and pulled in. It was midafternoon and not crowded. We were seated immediately and Wyatt served us. Really good servers are really hard to find and he is a really, really good server. We initially were seated near the bar, but Kathy complained about the beautiful view of the Catalinas being unavailable to us so we moved to a great window seat with a lovely view of the cloud covered mountains. So nice. We decided to split the Beef Wellington appetizer because Kathy said, "You never make it right, so I want to see what it's supposed to taste like." Well, I will never try to make it again because theirs is fabulous. The rich mushroom sauce was amazing and the beef short rib filling in the flaky crust was juicy and perfectly seasoned. On the advice of Wyatt, I ordered the BLT. I was like a kid all over again delighting in this bit of master sandwich making. Big thick cuts of bacon, juicy ripe tomatoes, crispy lettuce, and a fabulous avocado and aioli spread that was to die for. The homemade potato chips that came with it were excellent. The whole thing was just perfect. The bad news is that Kathy stole half of it. She just reached over and grabbed half of the sandwich from right under my nose. Rude! She ordered the Mushroom Sacchetti with short rib and so I took some of it as payback for her stealing half of my BLT. Delicious! The food is so rich and good and very filling. We took some leftovers home. We also ordered a Barbecue Bacon Burger to go for our son. He just hollered that it was one of the best burgers he has ever had so apparently they even do burgers well. We split a Bananas Fosters Bread Pudding for dessert. When I say split, you might think it was 50/50, but it was more like 10/90 with me holding the short straw. What little I had was so good I will need to die, go to heaven, find Mom, and tell her that she needs to come back and up her bread pudding game. Go to Tandem, hang out with Wyatt, order some great food, and enjoy a leisurely late lunch. That's what we did... and we'll definitely do it again! read more

AMAZING!!!!! I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a line out the door! I had the short rib Philly, my husband had the friend chicken sando- we shared fries and a lemon-berry mound of sweet goodness. The service was excellent, we will definitely be back. The restaurant is clean, but feels a little " sterile" if there was different lighting, no TVs and maybe a front trellis patio dining area ( killer Catalina view) I think it would definitely add to the experience. 500% if you haven't tried it .... Good portions, but more important were the flavors on every thing we tried. Emily was our hostess, was polite, friendly and explained all the dishes really well. We will return for sure. I came here with a group of 8 people midweek around happy hour, which we had missed. I think it ended at 6pm. We were seated quickly in the front room away from the rest of the restaurant, and our server promptly took our drink orders. The drinks came out quickly, and everyone was pleased with their selection. The food came out fairly quickly also. Everyone said their food was fine. We had no complaints, but we were also not wowed. The ambiance was basic, the food was fine, we mostly drank beers and wine. Overall, we thought it was fine, but It was very expensive for the type of experience the place offers. I want to preface this review by stating that I am not a very picky eater and I also don't have very high standards for service. I waited for several minutes to be seated while there were three employees on the floor and only 3 or 4 couples dining in the restaurant. Two of the employees were doing something behind the bar at which no one was sitting so I can't quite figure out why myself and the people behind me had to wait as long as we did for seating. The food arrived pretty quickly. I ordered a hibiscus iced tea which had no flavor and hardly any ice. For my meal, I chose truffle fries with ranch and the lobster roll. The fries were cold, coated with hard chunks of Parmesan cheese and incredibly salty. The lobster roll was cold, soggy, and so heavily salted I couldn't even eat it. I expect seafood to be salty but this was extreme. Additionally, my waitress never returned with the ranch or water that I asked for twice. I didn't see her again until she came back almost a half and hour later with my check. At this point, there were still only about 5 or 6 tables with a couple people at each one so I honestly have no idea what the employees were doing during this time. I was excited to try this place, as I've heard great things but I will never return. read more

I wasn't a fan of the lobster roll I ordered. Very shrimp heavy and there was so much seasoning I couldn't taste the shrimp or the lobster; it in fact didn't taste good to me at all. I'd gladly pay more for a real lobster roll.. no shrimp or seasoning.. just cooked and chilled lobster meat on a roll with melted butter and maybe some mayo on the side. It's supposed to be a super simple and delicious dish. The person I was with said their black and blue burger was good but not amazing. The interior is also very strange. The wall and gap between the takeout counter and the eating area seems very off. The dining area also has the flooring and layout of a breakfast diner more than a restaurant and bar. The service was good. Not great not lousy just good-average. It might be worth another try to order something else in the future but I was disappointed. read more
