I really wanted to fall in love with this place because it sounded so wonderful, but I just didn't. I used their email to try to reserve a table with some certain accommodations. They got back to me right away and were very friendly and encouraging that they'd help me out. When we got there, it wasn't busy at all, so we didn't need a reservation. It was a bit disconcerting that the hostess didn't know anything about me having the reservation, but like I said, it wasn't busy at all. We put a couple tables together and had all the space we needed. The large garden setting was spacious and lit by strings of lights which created a nice ambiance. Every table was in the shade by the time we arrived, so if anything, we should've dressed warmer. Our server was friendly and answered our questions. The menu isn't huge, but there were a couple of things I could have with my dietary needs. I ordered the chili burger on lettuce instead of a bun. I upgraded to the Tuscan salad for my side for an extra $4. I asked for some ranch dressing on the side for dipping my burger. My hamburger was very well done, almost to the point of being burnt on the edges. It was hard to cut with the plastic knife I was given. The tiny bit of Tuscan salad was disappointing. It tasted ok, but was definitely not worth the upcharge for the amount I got. So, my meal was disappointing and unsatisfying. The people we ate with would probably rate the place higher than I did because they enjoyed their meals and I didn't hear much complaining. My husband got the Reuben with fries and enjoyed it. The sandwich had a sweet taste to it, perhaps from the apple on it or their sauce. The ones who ordered nachos got a gigantic portion of those. When we got our bill we saw that there was a charge for the little side of ranch dressing. It would've been nice if they'd told us when we asked for it. It might be fun to go back when they have live music. read more

Run - do not walk- to check out The Gardens at Bear Canyon. I was a little thrown pulling up to what seemed like a little shopping center- but once you walk into the open seating area filled with wood benches and high top table scattered among trees and flowers - you forget about the parking lot. The food is delicious comfort food. Simple menu done right and came out super quick. The pulled pork with slaw was amazing! The fried apples are a MUST - I was drooling smelling them from our table. Our server was friendly and quick even when the lunch crowd picked up. She told us about all their offerings including live music they host. We came one evening to hear Liz & Pete perform. The layout is a bit strange for performers / listeners. Tables outside of the bar area are scattered among shrubs and connected by a long pathway. So, if you don't have a table near the musicians, you may not be able to see them, though you can hear them throughout the garden. By the time we arrived, the only tables available were close to the entrance and bar. So, we sat at the end of one so we could peek down the pathway. Our server was quick to provide menus and very friendly. We got the chardonnay and fried apples, which were both nice. As there were no heaters out and the night cold, we paid after eating and didn't stay for the full set. We'll try this again, but arrive earlier for a better seat. read more

Came to see a friend's band play. Cool spot and concept, but it's not executed super well. The layout of the space could be better. I didn't know they had servers until I asked the bar tender after sitting around for a few minutes. The service was OK and the beer selection was pretty good. The Gardens at Bear Canyon is a really great concept but I wish their food and service matched the quality of the location and price point. The garden is beautiful and spaced out enough that you don't feel at all like you're sitting in a strip mall parking lot (which you are). They have a large pet friendly patio, with lots of plants, some space for yard games, and a rolling cart for board games. Unfortunately when we dropped by none of the yard games we'd seen pictured were available to use and the board games had certainly seen better days. Food was just okay, we ordered chicken tacos and the fries with the flight of sauces. The dipping sauces for the fries were fun but if you are looking for tacos, pick somewhere else. The chicken was dry and they lacked flavor, there are just too many good taco options in town to eat ones that aren't enjoyable. For two apps and a beer the total was over $30 which seemed expensive, our server was really kind but seemed to forget about us a few times. I'd maybe go back for live music and drinks because I liked the patio but I don't think I'd eat here again. read more

Really really good time here! Their outdoor space is an officially recognized home for hummingbirds and butterflies, and I can see why. Lots of beautiful plants and nice tables to lounge around in. The prices are refreshing here. Not too expensive with tasty food, well-carbonated beer, and friendly service. The Reuben and green chile were great, though the sauce on the Reuben was waaaaay too sweet. I'd ask for it on the side if it's your first time. The marble rye was delicious. And fries were plentiful and TASTY. Thin wedged fries. The rockstar server was pouring beers and serving the entire joint. He apologized and thanked us for the patience. This is a great place for families with kids, especially when the weather is nice. All seating is outside, and the bathroom is a porta potty. The food is nothing to write home about, but overall, this place is a good hangout spot for friends and family. i wanted an evening dining in an outdoor setting so I could include my pup who won't leave my side. My boyfriend was invited to join a friend at the gardens. I was pleasantly surprised at the large garden environment with hundreds of mini lights strung among the trees. A beautiful evening and in the background a fun, blue grass band adding to the atmosphere. To start the evening I ordered a glass of sangria and that lead to two because of the refreshing flavor! other guests at the table order the corn ribs, something I have never seen on a menu prepared this way. Oh, my, gosh were they good! I hope to replicate this at home as it is my new fav appetizer! My main was the fish tacos and surprised to see four piled on my plate. my boyfriend always has to sample my dish so he got a whole one to himself and the other three were very sufficient to satisfy my appetite! He ordered the Ruben and this sandwich did not disappoint. The flavors were exquisite and the meat piled high! We were looking for a dog friendly spot and this popped up in our search. All the seating is outside. During the day, I can see how hot it can get. There's plenty of seating. There's some sitting under shade and some seating without shade. They have a bar where is bar seating as well. The day we went they had live music. It was nice. Our waitress was nice. Our food and drinks came out, and good time. The food was a hit or miss. We started with the loaded fries. Instead of Carnitas, we got the jackfruit. The portion was huge. It was extremely dry though. I don't know if it was due to the substitution of the meat. I had to ask for ketchup, and just eat my fries like regular fries. my friend ordered the chicken tacos. They gave her pork instead, but she didn't want to have them redone. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and subbed it with jackfruit. I have no complaints about the pulled pork sandwich. It was good. It does come with cheese of your choice. For my side I decided on the coleslaw. It is vinegar based. Probably not my favorite coleslaw. I had a Cabernet. My friend has a Sauvignon Blanc, but it tasted old, sour. She ended up leaving it in ordering a beer instead. They have parking on site. read more

So good! Simple menu but the food delivers and the atmosphere is lovely. first and foremost THE FRIES ARE SO GOOD!! My husband is from NM and is super picky about green chili cheese burgers, he said this one was the best he's had in AZ. I had the chicken sandwich and it was delish, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the pineapple was such a fun add. I like this place a lot. It is all-outdoors, with a bar toward the front, a cornhole lane at the back, and tables scattered around. It is landscaped and decorated beautifully. They have their own kitchen but you can also order from Bear Canyon Pizza as they are owned by the same people. The food is a variant on pub food and is quite good. The beer is just cans and bottles and runs between $4 and $8. They have some very interesting options and the selection changes quite a bit, but it is definitely large enough that they have something for everyone. They do also have wine and a full bar. The location is especially nice for its view of the mountains while sitting outside. This is very much a favorite of ours, both with the kid and without. I have seen it crowded but never full as it has quite a few tables, but do note the hours. read more

My husband, dog and I, arrived and waited about 10 minutes to be seated - there was no one else waiting. The staff seemed annoyed that we were even there. A hostess finally sat us near the bar, as there were no seats left near the band. She served us water and disappeared. In need of refinement, but a great start for a new business. We sat at the bar, mostly because it was still hot after dark, and the fans were going. The wait staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. They don't yet have actual glassware, so were were served in plastic cups. And apparently the size for wine was a defective sleeve, since the server tried three VERY leaky glasses before running into their sister venue Bear Canyon Pizza and grabbing a glass wine glass for me. But the beer selection was great, my spouse was quite pleased. Tons of local option, a few we hadn't yet heard of. I saw another review complain that the beer was in cans, but that's how many of the local breweries are "bottling" now, so that isn't a reflection on the Gardens. We shared with Irish nachos (fries with corned beef and cheese), which were delicious. The atmosphere was so nice we ended up staying quite a while, close to closing. Which meant we had the unexpected delight of being able to taste the 16-hour pulled pork that had just come out of the smoker. I absolutely added a star to my review for how yummy it was, and would go back purely to eat the pork in tacos or on nachos! read more

I have mixed feelings about The Gardens at Bear Canyon after my first visit, but I will definitely be giving them another try. Despite being outside in the dirt, it felt clean. it was a bit difficult for me to navigate to our table as I am mobility challenged. it was starting to get dark and there wasn't much useful lighting to see where I was walking. there were only two disabled parking spaces and they were taken. there were several parking spaces blocked off near the entrance and what I'm assuming were portable restrooms were parked in the parking area near the entrance. We had to park down at the far end of the lot. there were electrical cords going across the sidewalk that made it challenging for me. I think there were only two waitresses. not sure. service was slow but the servers were friendly. they have a limited food menu and it looked like a large assortment of beer and drinks. (we don't drink so I didn't really pay much attention). We ordered the Rueben sandwiches. The serve the Rueben with thinly sliced apple on it (apple is not cooked). I ordered mine without the apple and mom got it with the apple. The ruebens were delicious. the corned beef is thick sliced and it was tough for me to chew so although the flavor was amazing I decided to order a burger instead. I asked for the burger with sauce but nothing else on it, I guess they didn't understand because it came to me dry, just the burger and cheese on the bun and both the burger and the bun were burnt and I mean really really burnt. I didn't complain about the burger and I just paid for the three meals. Even though I seemed to be having a tough night, we really did enjoy the atmosphere and the music, so we will be going back. next time I'll try the pulled pork sandwich. I also liked that they have vegetarian options on the menu. read more

We came here on New Year's Day for lunch cause it was the only thing open near tanque verde, the waitress was friendly and attentive and the older guy that came out to help us with the heater was awesome. The food was good too, we had the fried apples and a pizza from bear canyon next door, I guess they're the same business or at least partnered. But yeah definitely check it out, but bring a jacket since it's all outside haha. read more

Great prices, food, and drinks! We had the $6 sangria and their potatoes with all the dips. I loved the aioli, avocado chimichurri, and the bbq they had. They have a big drink menu and the sangria was strong. We waited for like ten minutes for an open table at 6 on Friday. The tables are super spread out and there's a great ambience. Oh man, why is this place not getting the love on Yelp? The reviews in Google have it at 4.6 which seems much more accurate. This place was great!! I'm from out of town, was driving down the road, and pulled into the parking lot only just to figure out my directions and sort out where to get dinner. Lo and behold, just in front of me, was this place. Sun going down, people chilling outside in a nicely landscaped space. Great music. Not too loud. I took a chance! i had the pulled pork, which was fantastic, as others said. Did not disappoint. I had the Date Night cocktail, also a 5 star. Figured the smoky mezcal would complement the pulled pork, and I was right! Friendly service wrapped it all up in a bow. Last note: Tables were spaced quite far apart, which together with outdoor setting, made this feel like a safe place to eat. read more

This is an interesting new beer garden on the east side with beautiful views of the Catalina Mountains. There are games to play and lots of open air places to try their very interesting cocktails and large selection of beers. They have a limited menu (not super gluten free or with vegan options) but things sounded yummy.
