Wow! I was blown away. New American is my favorite cuisine and Cup Cafe does not disappoint. I ordered the salmon caprese which was INCREDIBLE. Our waiter Keith gave a great recommendation. He said it was his favorite and I can see why. The salmon and asparagus were perfectly cooked. The Parmesan risotto was slight under and crunchy but the flavor was so good I didn't mind. My other two friends ordered the fish n chips and the tofu curry dish on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised that both of their dishes were good also. I took home a slice of the Bailey's chocolate mousse which was amazing. I got it last week and it was slightly different but still very good and I think I liked it even more this week. There were two things that were out so I will have to try them another time. I was still happy with what I got and would definitely come back! read more

My favorite meal during our most recent trip to Tucson! And very dog friendly!!! Big dog approved: We came with our large dog, and were able to sit with him on the patio. We came during May, when it starts to get warm, but he did well since there is a good amount of shade out on their patio and they provided a nice big water bowl for our special boy. The staff also were kind enough to move one of our chairs out of the way so our dog had lots of room to lay down. Staff were all very kind and never seemed annoyed with the dog (you can always tell at a restaurant if they are, and they were very happy to accommodate him). Very dog friendly!! The food: We gotta talk about their French onion soup. It was pretty dang delicious! The broth itself is quite nice, a nice cheese portion, and the baguette was divine. I also had their French Connection sandwich (with a side of fries), and it had a great combo of ooey, gooey cheese, firm and flavorful ham, and served on a really delicious loaf. Really solid fries, too. We didn't end up getting any drinks but saw several people ordering yummy looking bites. If (but likely when) we come back to Tucson, I'm making a point to return to Cup Cafe! read more

I have been wanting to try Cup Café for a long time and I'm so glad I finally made it in for brunch! I had the Braveheart and it was amazing!!!! The brisket was delicious, the sourdough was top tier, and the tomatoes, spinach, and gyure cheese all worked so well together with the sausage gravy on top...I was in heaven. It came topped with two perfectly poached eggs and the side potatoes were tremendous. Perfectly crispy on the outside and nice and starchy on the inside. We also got the Chilaquiles Verde and I was super impressed. The pork was incredibly moist and again they absolutely nailed the poached eggs. The green chile sauce had great flavor without being overly spicy, which I appreciated because I like flavor but not too much heat first thing in the morning. The tortilla strips stayed crispy the whole time and it came with a side of mixed fruit, which is always a winner in my book. Of course I couldn't pass up dessert. We tried the lemon blueberry lavender olive oil cake, which is gluten free. It was pretty crumbly (maybe due to being gf?) and I'm probably still 50/50 on lavender as a flavor, but overall it was pretty good. The coconut cream pie was the real standout for me though. Super creamy with great coconut flavor and the slice was huge! Our waiter did a pretty good job and even though the patio was fairly busy, it stayed comfortable because everything was shaded. There were a few flies hanging around, but that is kind of the tradeoff for sitting outside. The interior dining room looked really cute too, so maybe next time I'll try sitting inside. The place was clean and our waiter was friendly and helpful. My wife had an omelet which she enjoyed. I had the eggs benedict. I had an excellent meal and loved the outdoor patio, perfect for March weather. I ordered the chickpea lettuce wrap appetizer and added blackened salmon, very good. They have decadent desserts that you can view ahead of time in a case. I ordered the orange almond cake as it was gluten free and the waiter gave me two pieces! A friend of mine was visiting, and I thought it would be fun to take her for a drink at the Hotel Congress. Unfortunately, the bar wasn't yet open, so we stopped by the Cup Cafe for drinks and a sweet snack. She did a gin drink that she thought was really delicious, and I opted for a mocktail designed to be like a strawberry daiquiri, which was incredible, one of those rare mocktails that you don't miss the alcohol at all. We also split a gluten free blueberry lemon lavender olive oil cake, which my GF friend said was really good for a GF cake, so I will take her review. We mostly had good service, but unfortunately there was one individual that was super rude. He was a busser, which we found out when I accidentally asked him for the check and he was downright mean that we asked him. Our actual server was really upset about this when we let him know what happened, and he apologized profusely to us over the incident, which felt like it was more about that individual than the business a whole. Still, it made me feel uncomfortable (especially when the guy was skulking around the back and glaring at me from there and made me honestly feel like I needed to GTFO quickly), so I am not sure I would go back if that guy still worked there. read more

Went for both lunch and dinner in the same week. Both meals were great but our lunch service was stellar. Jasiah was our lunch server and have to give a shout out! The stuffed chicken I had was tender and tasty. I took a star off because the basque matcha cheesecake could have been better with the texture. The cheesecake crumbled off to little pieces with every poke, it didn't stick well. Otherwise the taste was good and not too sweet. The Cub Cafe is the Tucson classic restaurant located in the Congress hotel. It has been a long time since I've eaten here and I was absolutely amazed about how good. The food was exceptional and very tasty. The service was excellent and I was really impressed about the overall experience. I did not have an issue with my coffee being filled all the time. I'm so sorry to say that I had a poor experience at the Cup. I've been hearing about it since before I moved to Tucson, and I've been at the hotel for evening events. But everyone talks about how great their brunch is, and mine was not a good experience. We got there at 9, before the brunch crowd, but it still took 45 minutes for me to get my food. When it did get there, it was cold. I got the barrio toast, with eggs over easy, and as you know, eggs do not taste so great when they're not hot. In addition, there was sort of a vinegar taste or something to the avocado part of it that I didn't care for. For $16, there was only one piece of bread and very small side salad. The friend I had brunch with was not happy either. She got the smoked salmon Benedict, and they included some kind of "tomato chutney" that she said just tasted like barbecue sauce, not appetizing. It certainly didn't look like chutney. They also used way too much of it on her food. She scraped some of it off, but still left half of one of her English muffins as a result. The other problem I had was with the coffee. The mugs are tiny, and when I ran out, it took a while to get another cup. She finally told me that because it was decaf, they did not prioritize making it, and so it took me 15 minutes to get a refill, it didn't come out until I was done with my food. Another annoyance was that although service had been incredibly slow, it was obvious that they couldn't wait to get us out of there once we were done. She took the bill fast enough. Again, I love the hotel Congress, I'm just disappointed because everyone speaks so highly of brunch here. I think they need a little work. read more

First time visiting The Cup Cafe and I am native of Tucson . I made a reservation for my family of 4 for Mother's Day breakfast at 10:15. Check in was a breeze and we were seated right away. We arrived about 10 minutes early. I think what I was mostly surprised with is we were seated outside. I made the reservation 3 weeks prior, and I just figured we would be able to sit inside. I am not a fan of fanning away flies, thankfully it wasn't horrible. It was loud outdoors at first but seemed to mellow out as the time passed. It took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive, but our server Collin was terrific. He checked on us, provided refills of our drinks and was great. 3 of us ordered different fillings in our omelets. My daughter order blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon. The potatoes smelled and tasted divine. Cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Our omelets were very good and filling! My daughter enjoyed her pancakes, she said they were very good. I think the best part was on such a busy day all went really well. We truly enjoyed it and we will return another time. read more

My friend and I got seated immediately outside around 10AM on a Saturday. We ordered the Cast Iron Baked Eggs and Brioche French toast to share. I've seen reviews raving about the Cast Iron baked eggs and they weren't wrong! Egg was perfectly poached with a cheesy sauce with herbs and onion it was delicious!!! I came here last Wednesday, and everything was so much better this time. I loved the Honeysuckle Daiquiri, though the Sonoran Solstice was too bitter for my taste. The calamari was excellent--perfectly cooked and flavorful. The Salmon Caprese was absolute perfection, served with a risotto that I surprisingly loved, even though I don't usually enjoy risotto. The dessert is incredible and they have a lot of options. If you sit outside on the patio and there's live music going on, you'll have an extra enjoyable experience. What a cute little cafe located just inside the lobby of the Hotel Congress. They share a patio area too so you can sit inside or out. The cafe has a wall of what I will call truths. It's a fun read but don't take it too seriously. The service is spot on. We were checked up on frequently and even the owner came by to make sure our food was good. The food was excellent! I got the chilaquiles which was delicious. It was ample for just one person. Probably not a share worthy dish. It was served in a cast iron mini skillet which I had never seen before. I was able to substitute potatoes for fruit. The potatoes were baked to perfection and seasoned well. Most brunch items are $16-$25 price range which is typical these days. Parking is street parking or a nearby garage. If it's the weekends the street parking is free if you can find a spot. The cafe has an excellent display of desserts that just look amazing. I'm going to have to come back for that. The wait was about 20 min once we got our names on the list. There is a bar across from it that you can just sit down at or go for a walk or hang in the courtyard. They will text your phone when they are ready for you. My only complaint is a minor one but not enough to reduce a star. When you get the bill there are two tips you have to decide on. One is for the wait staff of which I typically give 20% but also another tip for the cook staff of which was $2 minimum suggestion. I've been hemming and hawing over how to deal with this situation. Do I split the 20% across both of them. Do I give a total of what they recommend and the 20%? Kinda feels awkward to me. read more
