I have traveled to this restaurant plenty of times. I first encountered this place when they were in their old location, when they were down the street from where they are now. First I feel I should explain that I live in the total opposite area and outside the city so this place is quite a long voyage. Nonetheless, I feel as if I have to say, I love this restaurant. This new building location is way better than the last. No more random pot holes everywhere and no more worry of your entire car getting stuck in the parking lot because you happen to drive over a hole that's somehow three feet wide. I am such a big fan of this place infact when they closed to relocate I got depressed knowing I couldn't have their food for the time being. Now for the actual review. Walking into this restaurant you wouldn't expect much from it. A small buffet stand and a normal seating arrangement. They sat me down quite hastily and the waitress came immediately to pour water for you to quench any thirst you may have had before entering. Before I got my food I took a sip of the water she just poured and instantly the veil of the tandoor palace was lifted and it revealed its true nature. This place is a sanctuary run by the divines, the waitress a goddess. The water was the most refreshing water man could ever have. I felt like I was drinking tears that a god had cried over its subjects that just so happen to also land in the fountain of youth and this waitress is the only inhabitant in the mortal realm that has access to the said fountain. and she blessed you with this holy water by pouring it inside a piece of the holy grail. After experiencing pure ecstasy from the divine hostess I finally walked up to the small buffet to grab the same thing I have always gotten. Rice, with their chicken tiki masala. Shaking from the previous experiences I've had with this divine food I could hardly hold my excitement. Sitting down to finally have a bite, I felt a calling from heaven and the need to pray to god for blessing me with a sanctuary and meal such as this. With the first bite I am instantly face to face with the vision of this chicken I have swirling in my mouth. I've never seen such a chicken. He tells me that even though he has died, he is happy to have ended up in the hands of a chef that personally cooks for the gods on his free time and that the chef treated him such care he didn't even notice himself pass over to the afterlife and to be added to such an exquisite dish such as this and that he is happy to have brought someone like me such a feeling of immense joy. Hearing this from the sacred chicken I begin to cry tears of happiness. Pulses of oxytocin, dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin surge through my body and with every bite I experience pure heaven. I can't explain to you enough how I feel about this food more than what I am typing right now at this very moment. Then finally the Naan shows up, maybe a little late but just in time for me to experience a new joy of just having the chicken tikimasala and rice alone. Placing my fork down, I grab the piping hot naan and notice the slight glisten of butter over the surface of the Naan like a bar of pure gold, with pieces of what seems to be garlic and maybe cilantro and parsley. I continue to use its garlic buttery goodness to scoop the food on my plate and proceed to shove it into my mouth. I full heartedly believe an old man would say, "My stomach is jealous of my mouth for being able to have its way with it first." Plate after plate you would want to devour even if you would taint this holy sanctuary with the sin of gluttony, maybe try to hide your sin under the napkin they provide to you like the French do for ortolan bunting. Slowly I became full and still had some food on my plate. One shouldn't waste food here or more like who would want to. You'd rather sit there for an extra couple minutes so your stomach could settle and let the food get cold because you'd still wish to eat it. At this restaurant if one should find a hair in their food (not saying you will or i did im exaggerating!) you'd take it as a blessing from the divine in the kitchen and still continue to eat it. We have been chasing authentic Indian cuisine ever since we stepped foot in India back in 2016. Tandoor Palace was next on our list to try. Dinner prices are very reasonable, which explains the small buffet entree choices. Chicken Masala, Tandoori Chicken and Nan should be the staple dishes, so they must stand out, which unfortunately they did not. I prefer a stronger spice level than what was served. And judging by the customers dining in, the food was probably closer to what you would find in the British quarters in India, a bit bland and toned down. The inside is small, but a larger place is probably not needed as it was not busy on a Friday night. My recommendation is this is more of a quick lunch restaurant rather than a date night type of restaurant. read more

Tandoor Palace 5/15/25. -/100 Truly the best in town! Have been eating here since 2007 enjoying their delicious fresh food. Best Masala Chai too. They have vegan Chai as well if you don't want dairy. We are committed patrons to this restaurant and have followed them during seasons of change. They have moved just down the street to a new building as of Nov. 2024, with front and rear parking. We love ALL their delicious meals. We enjoy eating in as well as ordering to-go. They have vegetarian on one side of the buffet line and meat on the other. There is also desserts fresh seasonal fruits and salad available. They keep a squeaky clean restaurant and kitchen and proudly display their many Blue Plates to prove it. You simply must visit this family's restaurant and enjoy their fine food and warm hospitality. I had been craving Indian food for months and I recall going to an Indian buffet restaurant a few years ago at the corner of Wurzbach and some other street across from Tommy's but couldn't remember the name of it. I googled Indian restaurants on Wurzbach but I doubt if this was the same since the restaurant I went to a while back was on the other side of Wurzbach but I gave Tandoor Palace a shot. The server greeted me and sat me at a table and told me to grab a plate and some food so I did. Tandoor Palace had a small selection of food. There's no boneless curry chicken or curry goat but they had some with bones and had plenty of meatballs and chicken tikka masala, yellow rice and white rice. The servers handed out the naan to the tables. The second time the server came to my table I had politely requested 2 pieces of naan but the server only gave me one. I returned to the buffet but they still had no boneless curry chicken and goat but still had plenty of chicken tikka masala and finally got tandoori chicken. Their dessert selection is just khir which is just an Indian rice pudding , mango yogurt and those milk balls that I don't really care for. I was ready to check out and leave and my total for 1 adult buffet was over $17 which was more than I would spend at Indian Palace down the street near Fredericksburg. It was not worth it and I doubt if I'll return anytime soon. read more

Had a craving for some Indian food recently. My go to spot is usually India Oven but they don't offer a dinner buffet. Decided to give this place a try. Upon entering the restaurant, we weren't greeted by anyone. Place is on the smaller side with booths and table settings. We decided to sit at a booth and waited for a waiter to come by. A man eventually came over and offered us room temperature water. Not sure why they didn't have any ice. My mom and I both opted for the buffet. I never saw a menu so I am not sure if they offer individual entrees. The buffet had several different curries, rice, soup, samosas, and vegetable dishes. The food was alright. I wasn't terribly impressed by the food, except I did enjoy the Chicken 65. I didn't think the price was bad for a dinner buffet, which was a plus. Wonderful little Indian Buffet. Very clean and friendly. It's been my favorite for a few years. The food is always fresh and hot.

I ordered take out. Food was excellent though not as much spice as I prefer, that may have been my ordering though.

New location but same great taste and service. Best naan in town and love their saag paneer.

This place is amazing. It was buffet style so great options to choose from. The food was delicious! The naan is also freshly baked/ delivered to the table. The place was very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was very attentive from a soon as we walked in to clearing every plate. The kitchen staff also refilled any empty trays pretty quickly. I definitely recommend this place! It was about $60 for 3 adults including tip and 2 sodas lol. read more

We tried this recently opened Indian Restaurant today. Upon arriving we found that it was buffet only which was okay, but we would have preferred seeing a menu first. As it turns out most of the buffet was dominated by vegetarian dishes. We did try the mediocre chicken masala, some ok meat balls, but the tandoori chicken consisted of a few scrawny chicken legs buried in vegetables. The plain rice was passable and the mango pudding was a 1 on a scale of 10. A person pointed us to a table upon arriving, but no welcome, no smile, just a perfunctory hand point. Glasses of water came after about 5 minutes although there were only 2 other tables occupied. We were not served naan until we had finished about half of our meal and that is when the server asked us what we wanted to drink (I think that is what she asked, but she was difficult to understand as was the man at check out). There was not much point in ordering something else to drink since we were already halfway through our meal. Check-out was at the register where the person behind us pushed the POS screen at me with a selection of "suggested" tip amount and I clicked on "skip" since (a) a server only brought us water and eventually a basket of naan and (b) all of the people we encountered were very unfriendly. The person behind the POS noted that I did not select a tip, clouded up, and mentioned it to attempt to intimidate me into leaving a tip. Mediocre limited food, poor service, cold atmosphere and $34 for two buffets did not warrant a tip and all of that will keep us from ever visiting again. read more

I started with a samosa,chicken 65,and fish nuggets. The chicken 65 Tasted sweet like orange chicken and the samosa was nice,I also liked the rice pudding and mango pudding. The service was nice,they gave us water refills often and came to see if we finished our plates to clean the space.
