I will say that it is Indian food but the lamb vindaloo is WAAAAYYY too spicy. I know that ____ vindaloo is supposed to be spicy but it seemed like they over seasoned the sauce on the night that I visited (let's say that my stomach was NOT happy the morning after). This is coming from someone who likes spicy food. Other than that the food was pretty edible. The place itself is very humble and does not have an Indian charm or vibe, like most Indian restaurants. The interior of the restaurant kind of reminded me of a simple a room; but then again, many places in this area do not focus on the ambiance of the restaurant. Also, the service was not too friendly. The waiter seemed more interested in reading his newspaper and playing on his laptop than tending to us. Just moved to Brooklyn and currently exploring the food scene in the area. This place makes some solid dishes. I find that this restaurant always has tables available, but I never see it filled up. They actually deliver, so I'm sure that is probably what everyone does. The inside is a little dark, but is pretty spacious. This place isn't really a romantic place or anything, but it's a cool place to bring some friends to eat and catch up. It's a block away from the Chauncey stop in Brooklyn, so it's convenient to get to if you use the train. Chicken tikka masala is delicious! I like my food a little spicier, so I recommend medium or spicy. I also highly recommend lamb biryani as this dish has a little bit more of a kick to it. I think in my old age I've developed a ability to eat spicy food, or maybe it's just not that spicy. The stories of Indian food being hot is overly exaggerated. I was with colleagues and once again they wanted Indian food. It was up to me to find a real good spot. I researched and checked Yelp and found the perfect spot. Once I put the plan in place, they were recommended "Tandoori Masala" by my Administator at work. So that being said and my plans out the window, we headed their. We pulled up right up front to this restaurant in the corner of Broadway in Brooklyn. Going in I noticed the place is small, very quiet, but more noticeably small. There's also no music, but that's how the owner, Shafiul Azam, likes it. He talked about the lack of socializing there was between people. He was a very engaging person. He was Indian with a wonder English accent. He told stories and was able to completely entertain the table. He was a host, waiter, and gentleman. He debunked the stereotype that all Indian food is hot. He even told me it's up to me how hot I want it. When my Co-workers started ordering I just followed suit. The first item was the appetizers. It was the Samosa. When I tell you I melted after eating it, I melted. The people I was with said this is quality. They make everything fresh to order so you know it's made with love. After we ate the garlic naan when it came out. When that hit the table I nearly ate the entire loaf, it was that good. I soon realized I was missing out, I should have been eating Indian food sooner. Last was the Chicken Tikka Masala. Everyone at the table got it and with good reason. It was incredible! It was soaked in a sauce that was spicy but did not burn. I sweat a lot don't get me wrong, but I didn't feel my tongue burning. I gave this place five stars because of the owner. He loved his business, cherished his customers, and spoke with passion, you don't see that anymore. I will be back. I love stepping out of the box now. Tandoori Masala is my most local Indian food joint, but still, it took me over a year of living here to try it out. I was a bit turned off cause I would pass by all the time but see no one in there, but I realize now that everyone was just ordering in. When you order in, they offer better deals and the delivery is sooo quick. I've tried quite a few dishes. The samosas are always my go-to app, they're delicious. The chicken korma and chicken tikka masala are good, as are the veggie options like the aloo Gobi and Chana saag. I'm sure no matter what you try here, you won't be disappointed. The food is pretty okay as a result of the Indian restaurant choices in this area. When ordering online, the food always comes on time...sometimes before the slotted time. I would say though, for the price, the portions are pretty small. Also, anytime I have gone in person to order food, I didn't appreciate the person (male) taking the order. Horrendous customer service. I found a staple in my food after ordering in this afternoon and called in to let the restaurant itself know. I have ordered delivery from Tandoori Masala since I moved to New York in 2015, and unfortunately they lost a customer today due to the attitude I received while attempting to give feedback directly to the restaurant. Hands down my fav Indian spot in the neighborhood (I've tried a couple others and was disappointed). My fav dishes are the Malai Kofta, Chana Masala and Yellow Daal. Great lunch specials and generous portions (I typically get 1.5-2 meals out of each combo). Naan is also delicious. Didn't love the samosa but that's more of a personal preference thing. Came here for lunch, nobody else was there. The lights were not on (I assume to save on utilities?), but it seemed like they'd look nice if it were, the sunlight was being used instead to light up the place. We ordered the Paneer Tikki Masala and and Bhindi Masala. Neither of the dishes were spicy, and they seemed to compliment each other. The Tikki Masala was the sweetest curry I've had yet. The sweetness came from... something I can't quite put my finger on. I want to say it must be pineapple or something fruity. The Bhindi Masala seemed to get a lot of its flavor from onions, and of course, the okra. It was a pleasant meal and the server was friendly and made sure to refill our water. The last two times, they got my order wrong. Last time I paid the extra 2 bucks for brown rice and got white. He said he'd give me 2 bucks off my next order which he did. This time I received some fish dish instead of my shrimp tikka. He said he'd send the correct order right away. Then he called me back and had the nerve to ask for the other dish back. I didn't know it was the wrong dish and ate a good amount of the sauce with naan before I realized it was fish instead of shrimp so, I thought it was ridiculous to ask me for the half-eaten food back but I obliged. By the way, the food here is just meh. It's probably he worst Indian food I've had not to say it's inedible, just not that good. However, it's close by and I try to support local businesses so I order it here and there. It's definitely going to be hard to do it again being it's not that great and because of the issues I've had. They're not even particularly large portions so, I don't know why they think their prices are fair. If you live around me, yeah go for it every now and then but definitely don't go out of your way. I've ordered from here at least 5 times and my roommate and I have never been disappointed! They've always been on time and friendly, when our door buzzer isn't broken (it's broken about half the time I'd say) they're happy to come right up to our floor. I've never had a complaint about the food, it's always hot and delicious! The lamb is tender and the chicken is moist! I LOVE their samosas, the korma and curry are great as well. The vindaloo is also excellent but very spicy (I love spicy but it's hot which isn't for everyone.) I tried to do dine in and ordered take out bc of omicron times and they were super kind and fast and the food from the last time I had it made me crave it so much that I had to try it in person. I live a few blocks away and this place is an absolute staple in my diet. This is the best food in this area by far and some great affordable Indian food. Delivery is always super quick and comes hot. My only complaint is I wish the naan was a little crispier and the samosas aren't super flavorful (still good). Everything else me and my boyfriend get has been super delicious. Also the portion sizes are great! I always have leftovers when I get takeout. I've dined in the restaurant a few times and the service was great but the atmosphere isn't anything special. You will usually have the place to yourself though! read more

This place is horrible. We placed an order on Postmates. When our delivery person arrived they told him that our order was already picked up. Which is impossible because the app clearly shows who is supposed to pick it up. Apparently they just put all the orders out in the front and don't confirm who is picking up the food. So someone stole our food from off the street and they refused to call post mates to explain and cancel our order or give us money back, or make the food we paid for. Now we are trying to get our money back from postmates when it was not our mistakes. DONT order if you want to eat the food you paid for. read more

Truly excellent Indian food. The chana masala, my litmus test for an Indian restaurant, has spice and depth and is utterly delicious. Ditto for the other dishes of theirs I've tried. It's clear that the chefs here are seasoned professionals turning out top quality food. Good for both delivery and dine-in. Delivery is fast. I've only ordered online, but delivery is always really quick and the food arrives still hot. The food is much better than other Indian options in the area. I usually go for Lamb Saagwala and it's the best I've had since moving to NY years ago. I usually go for samosas, but the marinated meat appetizers are also really good. I'm a huge fan of this restaurant!!! I've been living in Bushwick for 2 years and we don't have a wide array of restaurants to choose from. Normally my husband and I leave the area to go out to eat. Even to order out we'd normally have pay $50 or more to make the delivery worth it for the restaurant since they're outside our neighborhood. From the outside the restaurant appears dark so I was always averse to going inside. However, being that I love Indian food, my curiosity eventually pushed me in. I started going last month and we've ordered from there at least five times. I lovve the saag paneer, it's spicy, creamy and delicious. The naan always tastes as if it's come fresh out of the oven. Everything I've had from here has always been well seasoned and bursting with flavor. The delivery man is fast, which is a plus! I haven't dined inside yet, normally we either pick up or deliver but I'm sure my husband and I will eventually dine in. It's important to take in a few factors when visiting or ordering from here. For example, this place is in the middle of Bushwick, Brooklyn and thereby far from an Indian neighborhood. It's not surprising that things may not be as spicy or flavorful as you are used to from your favorite Indian restaurant; with distance comes dilution. Additionally, it's a small place and doesn't have a very good atmosphere if you're considering a night out here. I would get takeout only. However keep in mind, I gave them 4 stars for food and service :-) I ordered delivery. I wanted to see how fast it would get to me. I was approximately 10-12 blocks from where the restaurant is located and it arrived in a half hour (way better than Dominos... but that's another review for another time). I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh and Samosas off of their pre fixe menu. Total cost $25 including tax, tip and an extra side of Tamarind chutney. I need to say this. I AM A TAMARIND CHUTNEY FEIND (woo admittance is the first step). I literally will not eat Indian food w/o it. But I was disappointed by their chutney. Wayyyy to watered down. The food was a 3.5 as it was lacking in as much flavor as I'm used to (remember we learned about distance and dilution of culture before?) but the service was very good. User friendly online ordering website, quick delivery, the delivery man did not linger around for an additional tip and the food was neatly packed. Samosas were good! Naan also good and it came with white jasmine rice (you can substitute for brown rice for an extra $1). So was it worth it? This is by far the best I've had in Brooklyn and even beats many of the so-called upscale Manhattan joints as well as many of the wanna-bes on Curry Row. Fresh, vibrant spices. Tender lamb and chicken. Rice that's not cloying and dotted with herbs. I've only had delivery. Which has come quickly and hot. But want to go and eat in and ask the chef to "take care of me." I don't understand all the positive reviews. This is nothing more than bland, standard Indian fare. I ordered the saag paneer "very spicy" and received it mild. It has very little flavor, bland and milky. The chaat appetizer was soggy and too saucy, barely any chickpeas in it. The naan tasted plain and a bit stale. A few friends and I stopped in here late Sunday night and I'm so glad we did. This restaurant is a hidden gem, so if you're ever in the area I highly recommend stopping in. We had the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken and tandoori masala. All were amazing and the naan was perfect, I wish I could eat some everyday. We were all so full afterwards, and each meal was $12.95 and came with rice, then with the naan we each paid $16 so a really great price point. Everything also tasted really fresh even though it was close to closing time which I appreciated. The restaurant was clean as was the bathroom, so overall I was super pleased. Spent an impromptu weekend in Brooklyn this past weekend, and among the shenanigans we found this little place to eat. I am not a New York native, it having been at least three years since my last visit. However, Yelp never fails. If you find yourself in this part of Brooklyn and would like some authentic and delicious Indian cuisine, you should look no further than this. Reasonably priced by what I consider to be NY standards, and what the place lacks in ambiance - literally a gold plated box with a windowed door - it makes up for in the richness and quality of the food. This place is best for dinner, although I suppose some might be able to make a lunch meal out of it. My party was a size of 6, and the place is a little small - but we were able to push two tables together. They have the standard selection of indian cuisine any reputable place would offer, and of the six different dishes we ordered (tandoori chicken, lamb vindaloo, chicken shawarma, etc) all of them were excellent! I dont think there is a bad dish in this joint. The Okra appatizer dish was the highlight of the meal, and do yourself a favour and order a double portion of the garlic naan. (it comes out nice and hot). Things can get spicy in Indian cuisine, and this one is no exception. Not everything on the menu will burn, but those with a cats tongue be advised that Indians mean spicy. Portion sizes are filling, especially if you do what we did and shared amongst the six of us, sampling a little of everything. The Mango Lassi was amongst the best that I have had in a while. There are good vegetarian options, and all the meat dishes were tender and flavorful. I doubt a person could go wrong.
