As noted by its name, this place served a fusion of Chinese and Korean cuisines. Their Encinitas location took over what used to be a roadside diner along N Coast Hwy 101. The seating capacity was less than 40 people which included a few high-top counter spots. At my last visit, I came for a late dinner before their closing time. A large menu was posted on the wall behind the service counter that listed about two dozen food offerings. The items seemed to be comfort food like pot stickers, spring rolls, fried rice, and chicken wings but flavored with unique combinations of seasonings and spices. I started my meal with the Marinated Beef Tri-Tip Skewers which came as a set of three and a Chinese mustard for dipping. The meat was very tender and well-seasoned. I also ordered the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry which the cashier said was medium spicy. After tasting a couple of bites of the noodles from the serving bowl, I agreed that the heat level was moderate, even for my palate. I thought the portion size should have been more for the price. That was my main criticism for both items, otherwise the food was solid for an Asian fusion eatery.

Our visit to Tandoori Palace yesterday was deeply disappointing, to say the least. We returned expecting the rich, flavorful dishes we've enjoyed in the past--particularly the Dahl and chicken kebabs--but this time, the experience fell far short. The chicken kebabs we were served were rubbery, flavorless, and tasted far from fresh. The texture was akin to chewing on old taffy--dry, tough, and completely lacking the juicy, tender quality we remembered. After just one small bite, we requested that the dish be recooked. Unfortunately, when it returned, the result was no better. The Dahl, another favorite of ours, was equally underwhelming. It lacked the rich, buttery complexity we'd come to expect--a bland, mediocre version of what used to be a standout dish. These were two of the three primary dishes we ordered, and sadly, they left us thoroughly disappointed. Despite this, we paid full price and tipped 21%, out of respect for the staff. However, to make matters worse, both of us experienced stomach discomfort the following morning, which we suspect was caused by the chicken. It's unfortunate to see such a decline in quality. Perhaps Tandoori Palace has changed cooks or altered its recipes, but the food was far from the standard we were accustomed to. read more

Very authentic Indian food served with great service! It just opened a month ago, so many do not know about this great new spot, but it is definitely worth coming in. The ambience is nice, quiet, and calm, which would be great to bring a group in. I was surprised at how clean everything was; the floors were practically shining and the decorations were very new and beautiful as well. This gave me a lot of confidence because when the inside of a restaurant is clean, it means that the kitchen is as well. Ranjit, one of the owners, is so nice and accommodating. He made sure I was enjoying everything, which I happily was. I had the samosas as an appetizer and then the Chicken Tikka Masala Lunch Special as an entree. The samosas were huge and very flavorful. You can tell they use authentic methods to cook their food because everything tasted as if it came straight from India. The portions are big, especially for the Lunch Special, as it comes with rice, a daily vegetable, and naan. I couldn't finish my whole meal and took the rest home so my family could try it. I used to go to this Indian restaurant when it was under different ownership. So, I came and asked for the buffet and the new owner was very courteous, explaining that food is not very healthy when staying in a buffet for hours and they prefer serving fresh. As a healthy person, I liked that answer. I really enjoyed my experience with the new setting and the food was absolutely delicious. On the top, I asked for a dessert, I used to order with the prior owner, which wasn't on the menu and they not only special made it for me but they didn't even charge me for it to thank me for coming!
