Potato and peppers
Allyson D.

Tried to get on the waitlist for another popular dumpling spot, but it was closed! I still wanted dumplings and I'm so glad we finally tried this spot closer to home. It's a sit-down casual Chinese restaurant. The service was good, they greeted us and said goodnight as we left. We ordered the vegetable dumplings, veggie chow mein, and a vegetable dish that was not usual - potato and peppers. All of it was delicious! Dumplings are mushroom and spinach and best dipped in the sauce they give you, plus add a little chili oil. The noodles were literally tasty. It has now scored number 1 in good chow mein. But don't doubt the potato dish. It is so interesting because the potato is slightly crunchy. The flavor is unique; I couldn't figure out the ingredients. Either way, we'd get this dish again. The only drawback was seeing the front entrance with some storage. It's in plain sight rather than hidden in furniture our behind curtains.

Tasty noodles is going strong in North County. It's Jan 1 and the place is packed. We waited 20 min for a table for 3, but we're not disappointed. My picky 16 year old who can't handle Chinese loves the noodles and pork buns. We had the popular: - Shanghai noodle (thick) 5/5 great flavor and not soupy were delicious - Shanghai Grilled Pork Buns (6 pcs) - Orange Chicken See the photos and you'll notice how much people call out these dishes in other reviews... consistently... sold me on these dishes... now I'm ready to start exploring the menu!

This place was poppin on Dec 23rd. Not sure if it was busy because of Christmas week or if it always is but all the tables were full, and we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Service was ok, I'm sure they were trying their best as to how busy it was so I understand. The menu is pretty extensive. However, they have the basics and most popular items that everyone tends to order. The XLB were good. We didn't enjoy the spicy pork sesame wontons as much as a sesame flavor was very strong. Fried rice was good. The tomato egg drop soup was alright, I wouldn't order it again. I wish they had regular egg drop soup. We ordered the green beans and cucumber salad, but it never came out. The teas we got were decent. The honey green tea is heavy on the honey. Thai tea is good. Good addition to the area!

For dinner, I wanted a mix of Dim Sum and a hearty stir-fry entry. I found this hidden gem heading back from San Diego since traffic was moving very slowly. We arrived around 500PM to a busy restaurant. The wait staff was efficient and fast from sitting, order placement, bring out the food and cycling tables in and out. The restaurant began to be busy after our dinner came. The eggplant and buns is my favorite. Will definitely come back again.

Spicy Chow Mein with Beef

Pretty solid Chinese spot overall. All kinds of classics and some fusion style dishes on the menu. Ordered Chow Meln and some dumplings. Chow Mein came out quick and was super hot and tasty. Could have been a little more spicy, but there was a spice tray on the table. Dumplings took a bit, but they were fresh and hot. Service was pretty quick despite a few tables being occupied and the place was starting to fill up as we ate. Definitely want to return to try some additional dishes.

Dude yes. SOLID Chinese in North County. I almost forgot I was in Carlsbad because it felt like I was just in Convoy for this kind of chinese food! Everything we had was DELICIOUS. I'm actually kind of sad it took me so long to find this gem. It was always on my places to try in North County. Even the little kids enjoyed everything here. I've never seen them eat so many green beans in my life! Here's the food rating: Green Beans - 5 stars (obvi based on the the children) Beef Chow Mein - 4 stars, good but nothing special Shanghai Noodles - 5 stars lots of great flavors Beef Fried Rice - 4 stars, good but nothing special Xiao Long Bao - 5 stars, big and meaty! Not like the dainty dim sum menus Salt & Pepper Calamari - 5 Stars, nice light batter with a kick! The staff was also super nice and helpful! Sometimes unusual at a chinese restaurant. They were helpful with our larger party (8) and food came out quick! Looking forward to another visit here when I'm at the Carlsbad Shoppes.

Tasty Noodle House had quick service and good dishes. Sauces were well put together. Portion sizes were not comparable to the cost of the dish. Some dishes are overpriced.

When I'm in the mood for Chinese food, Tasty Noodle House is my go-to spot. I luuuv their fried noodles! I've had the House Spicy Chicken Chow Mein and Seafood Chow Mein. Both are sooo delicious with poppin' hot authenic flavors!! The service is usually quick since I'm ironically there when it's not too busy. I want to try the other menu items the next time I have my craving.

Located on the first floor in The Shoppes which includes the Regal cinema plaza. Lots of free parking. Tried the Tasty noodle house in Irvine and it was delicious so figured I'd try this location as well since I was in the area. Arrived in the afternoon on a weekend, missing the lunch and dinner rush hour. We were immediately seated and there were only a couple of tables occupied. Menus were already pre placed on each table so you can sit down and immediately browse the available dish choices. I went with the usual simple comfort foods for a quick meal and didn't venture out too far. Tried the sauteed garlic seasonal greens (#137 $15.99), Shanghai veggie and pork wonton soup ($12.50), beef chow mein thick noodles ($14.99), garlic spinach ($15.99), crispy fish fillet with seaweed ($18.50). Disappointed that the wonton soup was plain soup, when I had gotten it in Irvine, the soup was milky. When asked, they said I have to order it with bone broth otherwise it comes with regular clear soup. So now you know. Ask for bone broth if you want a heartier soup with more depth. The food here was ok, nothing absolutely special but was worth the try. Although the same dishes, it seemed to taste different from location to location. Service is very nice and helpful.

Arrived at around 8 pm. They ran out of high chairs so we were provided with a booster seat instead. When it was available, they did make sure to switch it out. Seems like people have a craving for Chinese since it really packed up in that last hour. Food was great as usual. The flavor of the orange chicken was good but it was a lot of breading. One of my only critiques. The only thing that I was slightly disappointed in was that in the last few minutes, it seems like tables were being rushed out. We asked a staff to take photos, and he seemed really unpleasant and impatient.

I just love dumplings. I crave them. I do a little dance when I'm eating them. I have traveled to other countries to eat them. Housed on the outer layer of the Shoppes at Carlsbad, Tasty Noodle house, which I have frequented on Convoy, is a staple for Shanghainese cuisine. We ate on the patio for lunch and the service was attentive and not over bearing. We had the Xiao Long Bao and the Shanghai Grilled Pork Bun (sheng jian bao) both With pork. So delicious. I could have eaten an additional Order of the soup dumplings all by myself. The Shanghai grilled pork buns have a much thicker wrapper but have that nice crispiness to the bottom. I can only have like two of them before it's too much dough but The inside is so flavorful though. Would get both again. We also had the Steamed Chicken w/ Spicy Sesame Sauce, which is a cold chicken dish but still so flavorful though. The House Spicy Chow Mein with beef is also a solid choice and although not crazy spicy, the little spice is there and so good. Overall this spot lives up to its name of Tasty. Will be back hopefully soon.

I came in from out of town, running an errand, actually, being a carpool buddy so we could take the HOV lane to speed our arrival. My carpool buddy was doing a mini-reunion dinner, but I didn't want to eat big-brand corporate food, so I roamed on my own and found this gem! Oh so happy! Their beef noodle soup was so delicious! It made an impression & got on my short list of affordable goto places for 红烧牛肉面. How would I describe its flavor profile? I'm no foodie connoisseur; what I can say is it had all kinds of yummy flavors, like umami, and I'd rather say oooo-yummy! It was just a bit spicy, had a smattering of sour pickled veggies, more than 5 chunks or slices of beef, bouquet of aroma, savory broth, good balance of salty & hint of sweet. Well, I loved the flavor very much, fit me like a glove for my tummy ;) One thing I'd love even more is if they'd add a couple more leafs of Choy sum, also known as yu choy of yóu cài 油菜. As for service & ambiance, I say it's above par. Pronto service. Clean decor, minimalist modern I'd call it; though I'm no interior decorator so I don't know the official terminology. Plus, outdoor patio seating available.

The food here is unmatched. One of the best Chinese food spots I've ever been to. The dishes are all flavorful and homemade. Service was so quick- from entering, to sitting down and ordering and eating, the entire meal was 25 mins (we also eat fast haha). HIGHLY recommend coming here for great Chinese comfort food. The dumplings were some of the best I've had!!! and the waiters were all so nice and constantly walking around and tending to tables. Great place!!!

As noted by its name, this place served a fusion of Chinese and Korean cuisines. Their Encinitas location took over what used to be a roadside diner along N Coast Hwy 101. The seating capacity was less than 40 people which included a few high-top counter spots. At my last visit, I came for a late dinner before their closing time. A large menu was posted on the wall behind the service counter that listed about two dozen food offerings. The items seemed to be comfort food like pot stickers, spring rolls, fried rice, and chicken wings but flavored with unique combinations of seasonings and spices. I started my meal with the Marinated Beef Tri-Tip Skewers which came as a set of three and a Chinese mustard for dipping. The meat was very tender and well-seasoned. I also ordered the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry which the cashier said was medium spicy. After tasting a couple of bites of the noodles from the serving bowl, I agreed that the heat level was moderate, even for my palate. I thought the portion size should have been more for the price. That was my main criticism for both items, otherwise the food was solid for an Asian fusion eatery.

Since I'm a lover of information, I looked up "Harumama". It's a combination of two words: the Korean word haru, which means "day," and "mama". Together, it translates to "mom's daily food". The name reflects the restaurant's mission to serve dishes prepared with the same love, care, and attention that a mother gives to her family's everyday meals. How lovely is that?! Anyhow, I was able to find street parking and walked into a clean dining space with a nice atmosphere. It wasn't too busy. Again, the staff was very attentive and provided stellar service. My food came out pretty fast. I loooved how my Drunken Noodles had the right amount of chicken and peanuts. Overall, another fun flavorful time. I'm still a Harumama fan.
