Went to a lunch buffet on last Saturday at 1.20 PM. I was super hungry and was excited to have an Indian buffet after a long time. When I noticed that ALL the chicken curries and biryani dishes were empty, I brought it to the notice of the server and he assured me that they were gonna be refilled ASAP. I reminded about it after 10 minutes and he gave me the same reply. I waited till 1.55 (they close at 2) and the dishes were never refilled. I had only pakora and chilli chicken and some white rice with chana masala. When I went to pay the bill I told him how disappointed I was and he replied very casually that I should have come before 1. Why lie when you have no plans to refill the dishes. Highly disappointed. My co-workers and I are nervous that this place opened right across the street from our building because once we tried the food we knew we would be back more often! We had the lunch buffet and they had a good variety of dishes including naan and masala chai tea which was a very nice treat for me consider it was a bit of a cold and slightly rainy day. It hit the spot. From what I could remember they had the following buffet items (see the menu for a details of the dishes): - Dal - Mutter Paneer - Malai Kofta - Chicken Tikka Masala - Vegetable Biryani - Channa Masala - Goat Chetinad - Tandoori Chicken - Mixed Vegetable Pakora - Fish Amritsari - Gulab Jamun - Mango Pudding - salad - fruit (cantalope) - other various sauces They bring out the naan fresh and warm. It was soft and fluffy! The chicken tandoori was actually pretty savory and not dry at all. My favorite dishes were the Channa Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala and the Fish Amritsari. The fish was fresh and it was nicely breaded (not oily or soggy!). My co-workers enjoyed it as well. I cannot speak on spice-levels because I like my food only mild to slightly-spicy. For what I had I believe most of the food was more on the mild side. I only rated this place 4 star because this was our first time and we had not ordered from items on the menu. Mr. M bought a Groupon for this place, and so we did a rare weekday lunch date to check it out. We got an early start and it was nearly empty but the buffet was on. The staff was really friendly and eager to please. The buffet was on the small side, but from the start I was impressed with the fresh salad ingredients. They were simple... lettuce, tomato and onion in separate dishes, but very crisp and fresh. The vegetable rice had a lot of veggies in it. And then I skipped right to the curries. I'm partial to chicken curries, and chicken curry and butter chicken were fantastic. The meat was more tender than I've had in an Indian restaurant before. The basket of naan they brought was both delicious and generous (I hate have to ask for more naan and wait 10 minutes for it). I look forward to our next visit! read more

We had lunch delivered from TP today. A group of 10 of us were treated to some excellent entrees. Those of us who were fortunate enough to grab the butter chicken were not disappointed. It was delicious and provided a bit of spicy kick. A co-worker had the chicken biryani and reported that the chicken was tender and spiced to perfection. My vegan coworker was really pleased with her meal. Described it as "delicious, flavorful, great veggies, perfect spice". It was served with basmati rice and gobi aloo. For our vegetarians there was Paneer Tikka Masala and I hear it was "yummy with good amount of spice" and that the paneer was firm and delicate with an understated flavor which allowed it to absorb the spicy, succulent sauce. All of our meals came with some flavorful naan and a rich yogurt sauce to help cut the heat. I strongly recommend this place for catering a work lunch. While we cannot yet go back to buffet style, they do a fine job with individual lunch boxes. read more

Came here with our Groupon and found a sign on, which says "closed under maintainance". We didn't get to use the Groupon and the coupon got expired. Then we called to make sure they were back open. We came back on a day they were supposed to be open, and found it closed again. We took a photo of the sign. And when we came here, they refused to honor the Groupon voucher as they promised on the phone earlier. And also, they said they were open last time when we were here, we showed them the photo with the evidence that they were closed during regular lunch time. Stopped in late Saturday evening with a groupon. The place was empty except for one other table that was wrapping it up. Since there was no one in the joint we had the servers full attention during our meal. He was very attentive and answered all our questions. We had a very nice dining experience and a delicious meal. We ordered the Chefs Special tandoori a combo of chicken, seafood and lamb. The dish was very tasty and the side of green sauce (tasted like cilantro) drizzled on top enhanced the spicy flavors. We also had lentils marinated with ginger and garlic they were very good and very filling. One order of garlic naan was just the right size for two and for scooping up the tasty tidbits from my plate Finished up with the mango pudding nothing special pudding with canned fruit cocktail. Based on the yelp reviews it appears the majority of their business is during lunch Monday thru Friday as they are located near the court house and the po po station. Came here for the buffet with a Groupon $9 for 2 for lunch buffet. I really liked the fish curry and the chicken tikka masala, but everything else was so-so. Even those two were so-so, probably because it's a buffet so the food was out for a while (albeit in heaters). You have to ask for the naan, but it's kind of slow to come out. The naan is good though, because it's fresh. It could be chewier and fluffier though, and they should give more per basket. Food's okay; I wouldn't come here again for the buffet though. read more

My wife and I found this newly opened restaurant on Groupon. We will definitely be back here for Indian food! The decor was new, modern, and tasteful. Felt like a clean, relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Manjit was our server and hostess - she was wonderful! Super friendly, smiling, and very attentive. We ordered the Palaak Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala - my wife thought this was the best she'd had. The garlic naan was spot-on, don't miss it. Fried egg rice with basmati? I love Indian food, especially for lunch buffets, and was happy to discover that another place in my area offered this. Too bad, the lunch buffet was a sorry excuse for a buffet. I'm sorry, but someone had to say it. This was the worst buffet I've ever had. Even Hometown buffet is much better when compared, so you know that says a lot. They had roughly 8 main buffet items- 1 goat, 4 chicken dishes, some rice, bean dip/ soup, all of which were skippable. The "chicken tikka masala" was the best dish here, surprisingly. Usually my go to dish is the lamb or goat curry, which they managed to screw up. Like another reviewer stated, it tastes more like indian butter chicken than chicken tikka masala. The top layer was dry, so we had to scoop towards the bottom. No fruits for dessert, only mango yogurt mixed with canned fruit pudding. At least the naan was fresh and piping hot, the best part of the whole meal! Thank goodness or this would've been a one star review. Our server seemed new and was very nice. The owner or manager was staring down on him like a hawk during our whole meal and I felt soooo bad for him. He was literally sweating beads and thinking "please don't eff up." Normally, I spend about 2 hours tops at buffets, but I was outta there in about 40 min, "trying" to get the most out of my experience. The food and prices were OK, but the service was terrible. The woman who served us (and we were the only people in the restaurant), gave us one menu to start, so we had to ask for another one. I bought a good bottle of Reisling with me, there was no corkage fee, but there was also no service. We finally asked for wine glasses and an opener. What she gave us was a broken wine opener and a lemon zester. I gave up, went to my car, got a corkscrew and opened the wine myself. When we asked what the fish was in the fish curry, the answer we got was "normal." We were wondering, do they serve abnormal fish? I flagged down a guy folding napkins and he checked in the kitchen and told us it was Bara, which was fine. The food arrive shortly after and was tasty. The server did not seem to know how to put in our order on the elecronic screen, so someone else had to show her. We did get the bill pr0omply and used the $5 off from Yelp, which took about 10 minutes (with my cell phone) to figure out, but we finally paid up and got out. I was on Jury duty and had an hour and a half to kill during lunch time (90 minutes for lunch? Really?!) so I walked around and not feeling like Mexican or burgers, this place looked good and what a treat it was! Indian restaurants are famous for their buffets but this one was really, really tasty. A good mix of chicken and vegetarian dishes, garbanzo beans, lentils, both jasmine and vegetable basmati rice and delicious fried doughnut on syrup for dessert. Everything clearly identified and and at an amazing value! I had a taste of everything and had seconds of the lamb, the saag paneer (cheese and spinach) and the Indian seasoned chicken. Just finished eating their lunch buffet and boy am I stuffed and happy. We got there around 11:45 AM and were the first ones there. The place was clean and decor nice. They have a great variety of dishes and all were really tasty! There wasn't one dish I didn't like. The chicken tikka masala is always my go to dish when eating Indian food and theirs didn't disappoint. My boyfriend and I tried every single dish except the salad and everything was flavorful. Some of the dishes include mixed vegetable pakora, palak paneer, dal, chilli chicken, tandoori chicken, gobi aloo, chicken curry, plain rice, vegetable biryani, goat curry, and lamb curry. For dessert they had kheer (basmati rice pudding), mango pudding and guiab jamun (donut balls soaked in flavored sugar syrup). Things that can be improved - friendlier customer service and the food could be warmer. I would definitely recommend this place. I'd like to eat dinner here next time. read more

This place is near Alameda County buildings, across the street. My boyfriend go an Amazon buffet deal for here, so we came here to eat only the buffet. The food mostly didn't seem fresh, they should try to keep it fresh by making less and more often. They need to work on that. Of the food in the buffet the curry chicken was the best but it was okay tasting. There were many chicken entrées. Much of the entrees were kinda dry and didn't taste good to me. I tried most of the entrees except for one that was lamb or goat. After I left my tummy didn't feel well, I think it's because the food wasn't fresh. The people there - the service were very nice. They seated us right away and came to take plates away when it looked like we might be done with them. The made fresh chai when it was out. I had jury duty and a Groupon in Hayward. This place is right down the street from the courthouse and has a buffet for lunch, so it's.very fast.and convenient. The buffet started with salad, skipped that, followed by several pulses. They lentils were good, as was the saag and cauliflower. There were quite a few vegetarian dishes and 2 kinds of rice. The butter chicken was the bomb, tho the sauce tasted like chicken tikka masala. Then I tasted the meat curries. There was a chicken curry with a red sauce and a lamb curry with the same sauce. I didn't like the lamb...too fatty. The goat curry sauce had a unique flavor, but I didn't like the meat itself. They also brought 3 small pieces of fresh naan. The buffet cost $12.05. It seemed a little pricey, but it was good. If I get jury duty next year in Hayward, I'll go back, but I probably won't make the trip just for that. TL;DR: Food was excellent, and reasonably priced (Probably the best Indian restaurant I've eaten at; I like it better than both Shalimar locations. , Pakwan, and both locations of My favorite Indian Restaurant. The restaurant is pretty and clean, but since it's new if you are going to pick up a order I recommend ordering ahead of time. We ordered to go for dinner and ordered 5 chicken tandoori, 6 naan( 2 garlic) and one order of butter chicken, to feed our 6 people family. About 10 minutes after we ordered the waitress came out to confirm we wanted 5 orders of the tandoori. We should have noticed something was off then but we confirmed our order. After about 30-40 minutes our order comes out, and we were a little irked that it took so long. As it turns out we thought each order of tandoori would be 1 chicken leg, but it turned out to be two! We accidentally ordered enough food for a family double our size, and I figure since the restaurant is still new they weren't equipped to handle that much grilled food at once, and we did arrive an hour before closing time. So I forgive the slow service especially at the quality and quantity of food. The food was excellent, everything had just enough salt, and one of main problems we have with Indian restaurants is how much salt is in the dishes. The naan stayed nice and soft through the duration of our meal, and the garlic naan was delicious. Tandoori Chicken was juicy and flavorful and with two chicken legs priced around $8-$9. The butter chicken was also very good, and the order had tons chicken pieces mixed with the curry. The chicken in the butter chicken was nice and soft, and not overcooked so I could tell that it hasn't been sitting in low heat curry all day. Lastly our order came with a very good amount of green chutney, so the entire family had enough. If they could just speed up the service, and still keep the quality of food and prices, I think everything would be perfect. Overall great meal, and just down the street from my house. Not big fan on Indian Restaurant because being an Indian, I find that most of the Indian Restaurants tone down their spice levels and that takes away from the true Indian food taste. I called because my groupon would expire the next day and was promised that they would reopen in 1 week and the owner said he would honor my groupon. I tried one week later and they were still closed. I tried a few days later and the owner refused to honor the value of my groupon claiming it had expired. I told him we had talked on the phone. He still refused. Greedy rude owner. I had come one time before and the food was not worth menu price (there are much better options in the area). STRANGE IN PARADISE My friend and I had supper at Tandoori Paradise. Bizarre! The food tasted fine, but the service was the most incompetent I've ever seen or heard of. Apparently the server had not been trained and maybe had not even been to restaurants as a customer. She did seem to speak English just fine, btw. There was only the one server and one other guy, and no other patrons. First, our waitress apparently didn't know we each needed a menu. If that were the only oops... But things got stranger. We asked for a wine opener for the bottle we brought. She gave us a broken one and a... lemon zester?? I was considering the coconut fish curry. I asked what kind of fish they use because I don't like catfish (people also need to know if they keep kosher). She was completely baffled. "Like, is it mahi-mahi? Or tilapia? Catfish? Basa?" All common for this type of dish. Actually basa is a type of catfish, but does taste good to me. "I think it's a normal fish." Ok... what? I was pretty sure she didn't mean non-GMO. "Could you ask someone what species the fish is?" A while later, "Yes. It is a normal fish." Eventually the other guy came to tell me it was tilapia. I ordered it and it tasted fine although I swear there wasn't a speck of coconut anything in it. A glass got knocked over, spilled, shattered. Didn't occur to anyone for a while to help us. Eventually we were able to move to another table. And our waitress didn't know how to close the ticket at the register. Eventually, a team effort of the whole floor staff succeeded. My wife and I just finished a marvelous dinner at Tandoori Paradise. We had the Tandoori mixed grill (goes by a slightly different name there), chicken baked in a clay pot (again, not just the simple name of tandoori chicken), spinach, garlic nan, the mixed vegetable appetizer, and rice. The food was delicious, very freshly cooked, and served to us in a most gracious manner. Sadly, we were the only diners during our time on this Saturday night (roughly 6:30-8pm) so I just have to hope that others learn about the place soon. I've read the negative reviews here but can honestly say that we experienced none of the problems that others may have had, only the good things you'll read about in the positive reviews. We were quite full after eating only half our dinner so the leftovers will easily provide another meal, which we look forward to eating soon. I love Indian food!! I always wanted to try different variety of Indian food and came upon this one. I took my 5 kids out to eat the lunch buffet. They food wasn't that bad. Kids don't eat that much they only ate garlic naan bread. So when it's was time to pay the bill it was $72.59!!! This is outrageous!! Each kid was 13, 7, 5, 4, and a 2 years old. They charged each kid regular price which is $11.99!! Kids are not like adults. They don't eat as much as adults and still charged full price. I talked to the manager and he didn't care!! One is bright and facing the street while another has soft lighting and, shall we say, a little romatique? s'il vous plait? Buffet is great. Naan is excellent as are all the dishes. Vegetarian dishes appear to be fresh made and cooked just right. Did not try the rice, looked dry to me. Tandoori chicken was a hit or miss. Some pieces, the larger ones were nice while the leg pieces appear to be overdone, maybe even burnt. Two desserts, a mango pudding and gulab jamoon were both good. Finished off with chai, which was well brewed and at the right temperature. They may have to improve on their outside signage.
