I brought Gabriel a designer suit that still didn't feel right after store alterations. He was pretty honest--said the best it could become was a 7/10--and then went to work. He adjusted the shoulders, chest, sleeves, lapels, which required him to move every single button. It was literally a completely different suit. And for the first time, it actually fit the way it should. Since then, I've gone back for five custom suits, multiple shirts, and my favorite, an overcoat (which I'd avoided for years because of off-the-rack fit issues). My posture is very upright and that just makes the chest issue even more difficult. There aren't many places in the US outside of New York that do real bespoke -- patterns cut from scratch. I'm glad I found Gabriel. He has a great understanding of classic men's style and proportions. The suit he made for me is very comfortable and continues to get better as the canvas takes the shape of my body. I keep looking for areas to make micro improvements for my next project with him. But to be honest, the fit is so good I'm not sure there's much to change other than experimenting with other styles, like a double breasted. I plan on commissioning something from him every year as long as I stay in Washington. The super tight, short jacket with the bum exposed, with skinny lapels was trending for a while on off the rack clothing. Even some made to measure places make suits like this. If you are looking for a suit to wear for the next 10 years, I encourage you to give Gabriel a try and have him make something timeless for you.

Prices have always been fair. While he works on your chair (I asked -- he said one of thousands), ask him about being a musician -- opening for Toto, etc. The guy has lived an amazing life. The Seattle Times should be reaching out to him. Some of the stories he shared during the brief time it took him to fix my chair made me wish I knew more about his life. There was a little bit of damaged leather at the bottom probably as a result of prying off the old one, and the heel tap isn't perfectly centered, but nothing too obvious so I let that go. What WAS obvious however, were two brand-new ink pen marks on the ivory leather. I let the owner know that was definitely not there when I dropped them off (these are almost brand new - see the soles) and he completely brushed me off and refused to take responsibility. I asked if he could get the ink off. He said no, and just walked away, refusing to continue the conversation. I will never use this business again and would warn anybody to stay away, unless you don't care what your shoes look like when you get them back.

He said that he knew a shop that did really good work and it would be easier for me to get service a few minutes away rather than an hour or so drive. But if they could not help call him back and he would fix the top. So I called the other shopp but they were booked until after January. I called Matt back and he got me on the schedule. I drove up yesterday it took an hour and a half. Matt was there and got the car in immediately and started to work on it. About an hour and a half later he had the job wrapped up and I was on my way back home. Perfect! The reason I contacted All City Convertibles and Customs was because of how rare it is to see a company with 100% 5 star reviews. Yes price is important but it was not the driver to go there. It was the fact that they actually cared would talk to me and were there to help. I think when you read their reviews you will see that.
