First time trying this Chinese takeout. Food was decent. They do need to work on their boneless ribs, taste was off putting for me.

Very low quality Chinese food. Even the pork fried rice was very disappointing. Some items aren't the typical recipe.

Everyone was super nice while ordering and during pick up. Our first time trying this business, the dining area is set up with a couple tables so it's definitely more of a take away restaurant, No frills. We were ordering take away and live a good 20 minutes away, sometimes a worry if the food will hold up. This did! Even the chicken fingers that were still yummy crunchy. Generals Chicken was yummy and a bit more on the sweeter side than many places, chicken fried rice wasn't a huge hit for me, kinda of bland.. no onions or bean sprouts which I'm used to. Crab Rangoon my family thought was a top 3 from other restaurant choices. Lobster sauce was again a bit different than I'm used to but was so tasty! Chicken moo shu was yummy! First time at Tang's. The restaurant is basically a take out but they have a few tables [3 or 4]. It was very clean, you can watch them cook. I saw about 5/6 people working. The wait was roughly 15 minutes and they were very busy. Egg rolls were big and tasty. I could have used more duck sauce. The rice was good. Beef and broccoli was good but a couple pieces of beef were to chewy/fatty, even so, I'd definitely get it again. The lo mein was good but a little over done, I did like it more than other Chinese restaurants because most others make the lo mein oily. Yes. I recommend Tang's! read more

Tang is by far the best Chinese establishment in area Palmer/Monson/Ludlow area. If your not able to make pork fried rice then your not able to make all the other dishes on menu. They've mastered the standard rice & all the dishes to follow. Always excellent eating. read more

First time ordering... Online order platform is great, but the estimated time it would be ready (was texted) and was off by about 20 minutes, customer service was also great. Food was tasty with the exception of the tempura shrimp, the batter was still gooey inside. Oil for deep-frying tasted fresh, nothing was greasy. Problem for us? Everything was so SWEET! Crab rangoon, ribs, spicy beef... all far sweeter than any other Asian takeout we've ordered. I don't want to claim it's bad food because of that, I'm sure some people enjoy sweeter foods, but for us it was just too sweet. We probably won't order again because of the sugar, but if you enjoy sweet Asian takeout, you'll love this place. read more

Stopped by for a quick business lunch. Tang's offers mostly takeout as they have a big counter and 2-3 small tables. Clean and bright inside, with pictures of the menu dishes up on the menu board. All lunch specials $4.75! Wow and that comes with pork fried rice AND an egg roll. My L20- Szechuan shrimp was good and fresh. Not too spicy and the veggies fresh. I had kind of forgotten about Tang's, honestly. We moved out of town and they became a memory in favor of closer Chinese establishments. Then my wife came home with takeout for dinner from there last week that she picked up passing through Palmer. It had been years since I had Tang's and my memory was that it was "Alright, a few notches over Mall Chinese. Good value!" She got me my "usual" General Tso's chicken dinner combo. I had forgotten how much I liked their General Tso's Chicken. Nice consistency and flavor to the sauce. The chicken was small enough to be practically bite-sized, but certainly not tiny. The temperature held up in the long ride home and it was still hot. The portion was a good size, the eggroll was mediocre but good enough. The fried rice was not really amazing, but certainly not the worst. I couldn't finish it all at once. Afterwards, I had a terrible carb coma and sloppily passed out on the couch for two hours with my family standing over me annoyed as I snored. Then, I got back up, padded back into the kitchen and finished the rest the same night because I'm no quitter. Then I got a fresh round for myself for dinner the following night, too. So although the food is good their customer service is disgusting. They would not take my order because I ask for extra well done spare ribs and told me that they do not know how to make well done spare ribs. Again they didn't ask if I wanted anything else they just turned me down and did not take my order. Went to Tang's on a recent suggestion and we are so glad we did! How are more people not raving about this place?! We easily ordered online. Our order was ready under 15 minutes. Carry out only and it was still hot by the time we opened the containers at home. Everything was super fresh...crab rangoons, beef teriyaki, hot and sour soup and egg rolls for appetizers! Main dishes of sweet and sour chicken and general Taos with veggie lo mein combo were hot, fresh and delicious as well! We will definitely go back! read more

This spot is not known for its 5 star chef cuisine. It's delicious cheap chinese food, almost fast food style in cost and combos available, but the taste is out of this world, and personally the best chinese food in the local area. OK, I'll admit I didn't give it 5 stars because my litmus test for a Chinese restaurant or take out is its chicken wings. I didn't have any because we stopped in for a lunch special today and not one of them included wings. I do view that as a negative, but not a meal-breaker. I had Kung Pau chicken and my friend had General Tsao's chicken (OKA General Gao's). The Kung was very good but a little salty from the peanuts they threw in at the last minute. However, it was not too spicy, but just spicy enough to be considered proper Kung. The veggies were almost crispy- just the way they should be!!! The fried rice and boneless ribs were nothing special, but good. The General Tsao's was good, again, just enough heat in the sauce. The broccoli was perfectly done. I would skip the eggroll and go for the $3.99 special that doesn't have the eggroll because, as is the case with many of these places, the eggroll was lackluster. Will I go back? ABSOLUTELY!! Most of the lunch specials were $4.99 and the food was fresh! Next time, CHICKEN WINGS!!! Then I'll decide on a final stamp of approval! read more

This is my first review and I am doing it solely to defend the wonderful, hardworking Tang family. I do not know the Tang's personally. My closest connection with them is the fact that my youngest brother was in the same classes in high school as their son, Wen. First, I will address the delivery issue. They do NOT deliver. They used to, but this is a family owned and operated restaurant so the main delivery person was also the best chef, the father, so while he was out there was a slightly noticeable drop in food quality, mostly having to do with fried things such as chicken wings and fingers and such. They just seemed slightly underdone and not as crispy when the father was there to supervise and expedite. Still good, just not great.. Secondly, I want to say that the food here is fantastic. In my opinion Tang's beats all other Chinese restaurants in the area hands down. And to form this same opinion, I ask that you try several things off the menu. First, the generals chicken,amazing. Second, the pepper steak. Third, the chicken with cashews (they roast the cashews, it's so addicting). Fourth, the apple sticks. Yes I said apple sticks. Like tiny apple pie finger food that the whole family will love. Seriously, that's the first thing my kids say to remember to get when we make an order. And lastly, their steamed dumplings are to die for. without the sauce they are only slightly bland but once you dip them in that garlic ginger bath of soy love, there is not much better you can get my friends. I tried them on a whim one day, looking for something new to try and have been hooked since. This eatery has been in town close to 20 years now and I wish them many more years of good fortune in Palmer. It is very small. Mostly take-out. They have two tables. It's very clean and with no wall or divider other than the check out counter you can see straight into the kitchen and it gleams with nothing but clean stainless steel. If you have the pleasure of going in to pick up your meal on a busy night take a moment to watch the amount of skill, teamwork, speed and efficiency that is going into your bag. I have had the pleasure several times and it's an amazing sight to see! Just like a perfectly tuned well oiled machine. I really like Tang's. Why did I only give them 4 stars? Because I believe that they are the best in the Palmer area, not best over all. Food has gone down in the last 2-3 years. I used to be a HUUUUGE fan of Tang's. I would eat there twice a week then and I would throw a "Tang Night" at my house every month or so. The kids could have their friends over and pick from the menu what they wanted. Its still good, I just think that they dont make as much stuff fresh as they used to - - and it shows. Always polite people, service was speedy. I really with they would adopt the Jewish business philosophy and maintain the quality, but raise the price to cover expenses. People will ALWAYS pay a little more for quality. But once quality slips, people stop coming and its nearly impossible to win them back. Post a sign about the raised prices if they need to, but keep the great fresh taste! Regarding the other person complaining they don't deliver...they do. But WHY would you ask someone to deliver to Hampden, 12-15 minutes away??!! Just so you could tip them $2.00?? Really? And you gave them a bad review because of that??? I've eaten here in the past and it was decent fast food Chinese food. I went back recently and was extremely disappointed with the food. It was inexpensive as far as Chinese food is concerned but the quality has changed significantly. The recipe for the crab Rangoon has changed for the worse and contained small bits of unidentifiable filler. My fried rice was barely room temperature and filled with dry uncooked peas. The beef teriyaki was place on the stick in multiple small pieces. I was left disappointed and wishing I hadn't ordered from there. read more
