This place is halal and a great sit-down joint for the family. Things can be spicy here but you can tell them to tone it down - and mild will actually taste mild. When we arrived it was quite busy but we only waited a few minutes to be seated and our orders were taken promptly. Their service is superb as we had our appetizers come out quickly and the mains following soon after. The food is delicious and affordable which you just can't beat. I'm in love with the Hot and sour soup in any variation - veggie, chicken or seafood! I also enjoy their Bombay chicken, Lollipop chicken, and Beef with snow peas & mushroom. Tried takeout for the first time last week. Service was friendly and food was ready in 25 minutes. We ordered the chili chicken, Manchurian beef, shrimp and Mapo tofu. Everything was excellent except the tofu, which is normally my favourite dish. Would order everything else again and try some other dishes. read more

Currently one of my favorite thai and hakka restaurant. One of the main dishes I always get is the chicken pad thai. Definitely a must here at tangerine. Unfortunately, it is true that the customer services does not exist as the employees don't usually check up on you or bring water when needed. I can say I am a regular here as I continue to enjoy their food. The prices are usually under $10 each dish with a choice of an extra (soup of the day, pop, or vegetable spring roll). The food here is always hot and quick to be made. The chicken pad thai is always flavourful and the spring rolls are nice and crunchy. There is no soup of the day on weekends but I enjoy the corn soup and sweet and sour soup. read more

Your basic hakka place. Food is as expected and atmosphere is ok. Depending on which server you get some are nice and some are rude. But who cares, you're there for halal hakka. Shut up, eat up, pay your bill and leave. It's that kind of a place. read more

Decent fusion food. It served as a great place to pick up quick to-go meal upon arriving in TO after a long plane flight from the states. Service is quick, and our order was accurate.. I hope to sample more of their menu the next time I'm in town. read more

I've been here twice and the service was insanely slow both times. The food was great; very hot and fresh, but it's not worth the wait. I could go to many other restaurants in the area and get the same quality of food in half the time. It took at least 20min for someone to take our order and another 20min to get it. I was about to leave when they finally took our order. We had to go to the counter to get the bill and take out containers. Our glasses were never refilled nor did anyone come by to check on us. Rude person (in charge) said they don't put fish in Chilli chicken, and refused reorder/refund. We arrived at 1010pm knowing that they close at 1100pm. They informed us that the dining room is closed. Looked like the only reason they wanted to close the dining room is because the staff wanted to eat before 11pm. But remember: Restaurants should cater to their customers not the workers. The workers can eat after the restaurant closes if they wish or take home. The restaurant should change their hours if this is the case to closing time 10:00pm. I had another chance to eat at this place yesterday. We ordered Veg Chopsuey which was just sweet and didn't taste like a chopsuey. Made a bad decision to order it. The veg manchurian was good. Aptly spicy and with the perfect hakka style taste. Veg noodles were good but had a little too much oil. Though the taste was fine. The fried wish that my husband ordered was super fabulous and super spicy. Everyone loved the fish (except me cus I am a vegetarian). Never experienced such a bad customer Service... People if you want to go to Tangerine please come to whitby but only if you want horrible service, bunch of liars. I placed an ordered over the phone and when I reached the restaurant in bad weather with low visibility i noticed that one of my main dish was missing. They did not inform me that they ran out of dish and on top of it blamed me for it and later changed the sentence to I did not listen and in the end completing the conversation by saying "Take your business some where else". I had been so regular at tangerine but from now on no more stepping in. So, if you do not want to get yourself insulted with bad attitude and bad service DO NOT GO TO TANGERINE WHITBY. I went to this establishment a few months ago, it is very close to my house but I've still never gone again here is why. It was grey, gloomy, cool summer day. Perfect for warm comforting, spicy Chinese food, with an Indian twist. Being Pakistani I've eaten Hakka lots of times, and love it. However all Hakka is not cooked equal. I ordered the kung pow chiken. Greasy, dry, chewy, and bland meat. Undercooked, salty, bad rice. And a plethora of stale peanuts, and mushy celery, that created a disgusting texture. I am appalled at the experience I had today. Came into this establishment at 9:20 on, they close at 10. I was told we could not dine in but takeout was available. We ordered three entrees to go! We sat there for 45 minutes. Until finally the lady who took out order realized she gave our order to some random woman. This server did not apologize, did not offer any incentives. After being frustrated with the whole situation I told her that I'd like my money back for my order (10$) and my two friends still want theirs. I simply asked for it to be removed and that I didn't like my experience at this restaurant and I'd like to leave. She became rude and said its already made like 10 times. I told her I'm entitled to my opinion and I didn't feel the service was good and didn't like that nobody even offers an apology. She started saying how we should feel bad for her because that she will have to pay my portion of the meal since it's already made off her paycheck. She was rude and I couldn't believe she was refusing to pay me back for my 10$ meal. That I waited 45 minutes for. Hakka and Chinese cuisine - very popular place and can get crowded at times especially with take out. Good to order ahead. Ordered the sesame crispy beef, chicken balls, and vegetables in black bean sauce. All the food is pretty good! Also portion size is huge whether you dine in or out. Only complaint is that in the past they will turn away business on takeout for a busy night like New Years or on a busy holiday. We have a number of Hakka restaurants within 5 minutes of our house but we we make the trip to this one particularly due the great food, portion size and value. This place is always buzzing and speaks to the food quality and friendly service. Our staple here is the Bombay paneer, garlic balls and Szechuan rice. read more

Cut the pakora in half and could see the frost in the middle then touched it and was very cold in center of Pakora. I then took a bite of the spring roll and it was mushy and cold. The Whitby location does NOT do delivery. Have ordered from Whitby location three times.We ordered new items each time except House Special Hakka Noodles each time. First time was amazing. This place is Awesome! I've only been to the one in the Whitby location but the staff is always friendly and service is reliably fast and well done. Can't beat the price of the lunch menu. Favourites: Manchurian House Special Fried Rice (spicy and comes with chicken and shrimp) Crispy Ginger chicken (sweet and delicious) - comes with white rice Beef Hakka Noodles Portions are large enough to share. Lots of very spicy dishes if that`s your thing. Restaurant seems a lot nicer since being renovated. Let me start by saying I was a regular at this restaurant, however, after my experience there last night I will not be returning I was there with a friend, we had ordered our food when a women came in with her children. They sat at the table next to us. The kids were very loud but quieted down when the soup came. A few minutes after another family came in with children and joined this women. Within a few minutes the children were running at full speed around the entire restaurant, jumping on empty booth and screaming so loudly that I could not hear what my friend was saying to me. This went on for five mins. The waitresses and waiters were rolling their eyes out of disgust but said nothing. I asked the mother if she could get her kids under control as I couldnt hear my friend talking and she told me quite aggressively that they were kids, and everything was fine. An argument ensued where this women told me she was the owner of this restaurant, she told me to shut up and to "F" off. The wait staff did nothing but start to imply racist remarks about me being a white women. I will never return to a restaurant where the owner does not appreciate loyal custumers and treats them so rudely and disrespectful. She was so wrong I tried to explain to her that how kids act in their home is fine but this is a public restaurant and their behaviour was not acceptable. She did not see their behaviour as a problem. The thing that bothered me the most was the racist remarks, in a country that is multicultural I never expected that. I went to this restaurant this evening, and I will never return! They have many options for food, so I ordered chicken corn soup. It was decent until I was on one of my last foods, and I find something in my soup: a dirty fingernail! My dad called the waiter over, and once we told him that we had found a fingernail in my soup, he became very rude and disrespectful, and really defensive actually. His comment was: "Well, what do you want me to do? The soup is almost done! This has never happened before, and my chefs would never let something like this happen!" That is TERRIBLE customer service. He even stopped and looked at my fingernails! I do not bite my nails, and the nail was even clipped perfectly. Would I step into that restaurant again? No. Would I commend their customer service? No. And would I recommend this place to anyone? NO. Foodie be aware! read more

We had dinner at the Taunton Road/Brock Road location recently. We have dined there several and noticed that the service is not what it used to be and also the restaurant is not very clean. I ordered chicken with veggies and fried rice. The fried rice was lukewarm when it came to our table and we sent it back. The chicken dish then came and I had to pick out the "chicken" pieces. Main protein is always plentiful and lots of it. Delicious. Many times the fried rice is slightly burned and you can taste it. There is no pork at all on the menu. Staff is prompt and efficient as the place is always busy. We eat there at least once a week and are always impressed, usually lunch time, and we always leave with leftovers.
