Discovered this place for lunch off of Yelp one day. The outside is very unsuspecting. They had the lights off so I thought they were closed. They were not, and in glad I powered through the dark (it was overcast that day) but only after a few more customers showed up! Ordered the spicy garlic shrimp. Massive portion. After arriving back in Houston, I was looking for dinner after my flight in the area. There aren't a wealth of options close by so I decided on Tang's Express. I love Chinese food. But this experience left a lot to be desired. First off, the restaurant is pretty worn down. To the point where I'd recommend getting take out rather than dining in. After perusing the menu, I went with their pick two special. I went with the orange chicken, general Tso's chicken, and fried rice. One thing I liked is that it's a generous portion. Definitely enough for two or three meals. Unfortunately, this was some substandard Chinese food. The chicken was overcooked. The sauce lacked flavor. For both the orange chicken and the general Tso's. I know this is pretty harsh but I'd avoid Tang's Express. I've had better Chinese pretty much everywhere, even at the mall. read more

I eat here probably once a month on work lunch. First of all I love Chinese food so I have numerous experiences to compare. The food is amazing. My favorite is Orange Chicken with Lo Mein. Chicken is tender and the noodles are thick Lo Mein like I prefer (not cheap spaghetti noodles). It seems more of a take out place than eat in, but sometimes I eat my lunch inside. Chinese food. The go-to food for a night in just hanging out and watching movies. Which is exactly what my boyfriend and I did when we ordered Tang's. I didn't have super high expectations for this place but sure enough....... I'm hooked. It's clean and to me personally the food tastes really good by my standards. It left me completely satisfied. It's not "to die for" but it's definitely worth giving this place a shot and adding it to your night in food list! The young girl working the register was super awkwardly quiet and it made me feel a little uncomfortable which is why I am giving 4 stars. I ordered the Lo Mein with General Tso's and Orange Chicken and a side of the Cream Cheese Won Ton's. YUM. No complaints on my meal at all. And this place is really inexpensive! Best Chinese we have had by far!! My husband and I had been looking for another Chinese place since 888 closed and we decided to give Tangs a try. We ordered something from each section and they exceeded our expectations. Crunchy egg rolls, some of the best egg drop soup we have eaten in quite a while, the lo mein and fried rice were hearty. The chicken in curry sauce was a treat and not too spicy and general taos had crunchy bits of fried chicken in a flavor packed sauce.
