My friend and I went to this spot on Tuesday for lunch. Plenty of seating inside and there's lots of space outside for parking so there were no problems in regards to that. My friend and I ordered the Pan Fried Dumplings (6) for appetizers and they were great- each dumpling was big and the filling was juicy and packed with meat and veggies. For the entree, my friend got the Mongolian Beef w/Fried Rice Lunch Special and I ordered the Jajangmyeon. The Mongolian Beef was delicious but unfortunately the fried rice was a let down. The jajangmyeon tasted great though and the portion was generous. I also appreciated how the meal came with wonton soup and fried wonton strips. As for the service, everyone here was very kind and they constantly refilled our waters and checked in on our dining experience. We came here because of all the positive reviews. We were definitely disappointed. Egg drop soup was not a traditional version. Just some kind of weird yellow broth and cooked egg pieces. My husband and I stumbled on this restaurant after a nearby place we were planning on going to had closed early. In fact, a lot of restaurants in this area close fairly early, which I'm guessing is because the neighborhood isn't that great. We came here because they have Korean-Chinese dishes like jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk on the menu. We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant and have eaten here twice in one week. Food: The food here is excellent; it's authentic Korean-Chinese food. Even their side dishes--onions, danmuji (pickled radish)--are super old-school. I should know, my mother's side of the family owned a restaurant in Daegu over 30 years ago, and they served the same dishes! At our first visit, we tried the ganjjajang, the jjamppong, and tangsuyuk. Everything was good. At our second visit, we tried the gganpoonggi, shrimp toast (menbosha), and jjajangbap. Again, every dish was on point. The best comparison I have to this restaurant is Paik's Noodles all the way up in Koreatown (Long Pointe area). This restaurant has more variety and the flavors are old-school. Both are excellent, but for us, Shan Hu is way closer to home. Service: The service here is excellent, too. The owner and his wife are attentive (I noticed that the owner speaks both Korean and Chinese, in addition to English). The food comes out promptly and it's piping hot. I like that they have fountain sodas rather than canned sodas. No complaints here. We really enjoyed our two visit here and look forward to coming often. read more

The portion sizes here are very generous while still being affordable. There's plenty of parking and seating, in a casual atmosphere. I was able to order the Jjajangmyeon with no meat as I'm a vegetarian and the employees were very helpful and nice. The curry bean curd was delicious and I'll definitely return to try more of their menu! I will note that there were no chopsticks on the table, but I'm not sure if they're available upon request though. I just visited this location recently and I can't say enough good things about it! The establishment is lovely on the inside, and everyone provided fantastic service. It's very spacious and coming as a one person party, I was seated somewhere that was quiet. I ordered the general tso's lunch special, which I was given the option to order fried or steamed rice, and also was served with an egg roll (so yummy). The portion was huge! I dined in for the lunch special and was also provided wonton chips and a wonton soup. At the time, the lunch special was $10.99 pre-tax and I feel like I definitely got every pennies worth of food for that amount. They have a very extensive menu, and there are many other items I would like to try. A hidden gem in Houston for Korean-Chinese food (yes there's a difference!). Whenever I'm flying out of or into a Hobby airport, I always make sure to stop by for some (spicy seafood noodle), (black bean noodle), and (sweet sour pork). With the expansion of Katy Asia town, there has been a large influx of new Korean restaurants but this place has been a mainstay in Houston for as long as I can remember. Probably my favorite place to go even though it's pretty far from typical hot spots for Asian food. is crispy and chewy with a great sauce to pair (pro tip ask for the sauce in the side to dip). The has a good amount of kick and will leave you sweating if you can't handle your spice. Noodles are nice and chewy and same goes for the . Jjajangmyeon Better than most of the same dish I've tried anywhere else in Houston but honestly kind of bland. The sauce needs a bit more salt, or msg or oomph. Something. Tansuyuk These were over-fried on my visit. Almost to the point of being burnt. Unnecessarily crispy. Sauce is lovely though. Service is quick but not especially friendly - although this is to be expected. They start you off with some korean side dishes including kimchi and onions to dip in a black sauce - weird but oddly tasty. The finish with some very nice slices of orange and fortune cookies.
