Folks, We are from the Northwest Section of Illinois (around HUNTLEY, IL.) My sister lives up on Lake Poygan. In our travels to the lake, we found TANNERS and since than, we look forward coming back. Wife and I were there one afternoon and we got a little hungry.. looked up on the special board...being FRIDAY.. soup "FISH CHOWDER" . Wife ordered it...kinda hoped it was good...but as she see glanced over to the kitchen door, concerns were over...an ELDERLY woman was cooking...(MOM like) ...knew it would be DELICIOUS...and IT WAS... PHENOMENAL.. NO KIDDING!!! since than, we're always hoping to catch that soup again the next time we come up..I had the PATTY MELT.. YUM..YUM..YUM! FOLKS that live near...your very fortunate... Really good pizza. It use to be excellent. Bartenders are very nice but super inexperienced. Owner needs to lay off the coke.

Chicken wrap was edible. The shredded chicken was shredded to a pulp, kind of dry. The wrapped was supposed to be grilled, tasted like it was microwaved. The fries were pretty good. Service was decent. Ambiance was pleasant. read more

In town visiting family. Hear on yelp this place had good food. Walking in I thought I made a mistake as it felt like a small bar. We found a high top to sit at and has a wonderful waitress greet us. The boneless wings were odd looking but tasted fantastic. My prime rib sandwich was awesome! Looked like a prime rib dinner inside a huge piece of bread! It was really great. We've visited Tanner's Tap several times in the last year and we keep coming back. Amy is a ROCKSTAR!! She always remembers our drink orders and tends to our every need, oftentimes before we even ask. Our favorite things to order are the pizza (especially the Mexican Pizza on Tuesday nights), Tanners Burger, Burger Wrap, and Grilled Chicken Sandwich. They offer your typical bar food but they do it well. read more

Tanner's used to be a lot better than it is now. The food is still decent, but the treatment of the customer varies by employee. Some are very hardworking and try to keep everything going, but then there are other employees that are rude and don't do much around the restaurant or bar. read more

Stopped by for lunch today. Nice crowd of regulars at the bar and about 5 tables of people having lunch. It seemed most people were having burgers which looked good. The broasted chicken wings were very good. I had chef salad that was good w fresh crispy lettuce, ham, turkey, onion and tomatoes. Very pleased all together that we stopped here. We ordered Pizza Pizza from these guys and it was the best pizza in the area. Awesome crispy thin crust. Perfect amounts of toppings. Chicken bacon ranch pizza was wonderful. This will be our go to pizza from now on. read more

Love this place. Great food and even better drinks. Best pizza in omro and our go to for dinner specials throughout the week. Decent selection of rotating craft beers on draft and plenty of canned or bottled macro brews and liquer to choose from. They definitely give you a great bang for your buck on both food and drinks. read more

We tied up on the Public dock and went into Tanners after a couple fishermen recommended it. Four adults. The place was just recovering from a rush. At the bar to order drinks we were told by the bartender to "SIT at our table and our server would be there soon." Fifteen minutes passed prior to taking our order, pizza and drinks. 1.5 hour wait for our pizza. "A deluxe takes longer." While the pizza was alright, we were starved and left the bar almost 2.5 hours after arriving. It was not worth it. Though the starlight river cruise back to Butte Des Morts was fantastic. TIe up at the public docks and grab a Kwik Trip dinner rather than fight the attitudes of these employees! read more

Reliable, consistent, and solid for a bar in a small town. My family swears by their pizzas, I could eat their broasted chicken wings for every meal, and with different specials each night on both food and drinks, it's always cheap. This place gets ridiculously full as the end of the week nears (the bar is always packed), and I'm never sure where all the people are coming from due to this just being in Omro, so getting there early or having someone save seats on Thursdays and Fridays is a must. Other than that, they do accept to-go orders for those worst-case scenarios, but maybe stay for a beer or two when there's a game on, cause it's a pretty fun crowd. read more

Stopped today for a burger and soup, etc. Once you get passed the loud drunks, drooling on the bar you can go to the dining room. A young waitress took our order, a fish sandwich, burger and chicken strips. Nothing to hard, the food came and no water, no fork, spoon, etc. As we waited and waited, finally I went to bar and asked for water, drunks to the left of me and more drunks to the right. Then I see the waitress in the kitchen checking her phone. I Thought the bartender would take the hint and have the waitress check on us, but I was wrong. She never checked on us at all, so go to the Piggly Wiggly on Hwy 21, get some fish sticks, burger patties go home and cook them yourself. It would be better and way cheaper, (probably cleaner too). The tip left reflects my opinion. I Wont stop again. read more

Our second time visiting Tanner's Tap. The first time was amazing. The chicken and ranch wrap, and the pork and mashed potato special were both excellent. We were there on a Tuesday, and service was great. Today, not so much. On the plus side the broccoli bites, batter fries, Moose Drool beer and service were all great...again. The creamy tomato soup was like a canned concentrate with milk. OK, but not memorable. The reuben sandwich was terrible. Looked like the rye bread was from Kwik Trip, and the corned beef was REALLY tough. If using cheap meat, either adjust how you prepare it or slice it thin. Unfortunately neither of these things happened. I took the entire sandwich home hoping I could maybe use a sharper knife to eat it. No dice...still terrible. My favorite sandwich IN THE WORLD is a reuben. For the first time in my 61 years I found one that was just plain inedible. Disappointing. read more

We stopped in for a Friday Fish fry on our once a year visit to the area. The bar didn't seem to be busy and only 3 of their 8 tables had people at them (2 of which already had their food), yet we were told there would be a about a 40 minute wait for food. I was a little irritated about this and thought about going somewhere else after we finished the drinks we already ordered. I headed to the ladies room as the waitress was getting our drinks and noticed a very full restaurant on the other side of the building. The bathroom is located right out the front entrance, in the foyer, this is how I noticed the restaurant on the other side of the foyer. When I got back to my table I asked the waitress what restaurant was next door and she informed us that it was Tanners dinning room. No wonder there was a 40 minute wait for food!! Every table in there was full! We asked if it was a new addition and she told us it has always been there. She then explained it was only open on Fridays to accommodate the overflow of customers for the fish fry. It isn't used the rest of the week, so many people never notice it. No kidding. We've been coming here for 5 years and never noticed it, however, this was our first time here on a Friday fish fry so we never saw it in action. We decided to finish our drinks and order food, and as always, it was worth it. First let me say that the old fashioned's here are amazing! They actually muddle them (with fruit!) vs. using a mix. Not many places muddle their old fashioned's anymore. The Walleye is great and my husband had the perch. Very large portions of fish and the breading they use is light and fried to perfection. He had the clam chowder soup which he said was way better than he expected "for a bar" and I had the coleslaw...best coleslaw I have ever had! Very sweet and tangy! I also had the twice baked potatoes and he had the beer battered French fries. There was so much walleye left over that I had to get a to-go box. Overall this was our best experience here as we learned something new about this place on our visit and the fish fry didn't disappoint. The waitstaff here has always been great. Cant wait till next years visit! Maybe we will eat in the dinning room next time! read more
