Where to start?! Well, the food was great, and the drinks were great, and the service was great, so... not much else to say! I'm just kidding, I always have more to say. ;) But, in fairness, it's a great little spot that's kind of tucked away about a block and a half off the main strip (College Blvd or whatever it's called). But, it's a hidden gem worth searching for! We were made aware of this place thanks to the kind woman working at our hotel. We were in town for a game at Lambeau, and we heard that there was a shuttle from Rookie's to the field, which we definitely wanted to make use of! (That's a whole other review, but let's just say, it was an experience I'll never forget, and one I would repeat in a heartbeat!) The crowd here was clearly Packers fans. But, in their defense, they didn't make us opposing team fans feel threatened or not welcomed. Quite the opposite! Once they realized we were going to be respectful of their place and their folks, they welcomed us! The food really is good, especially for the money. It's one of those rare inexpensive places left in this country, where a pretzel appetizer easily feeds a family of four! LOL! I wish there weren't just two of us, because we also ordered boneless wings and cheese curds! Everything was hot and fresh, and it all tasted great. The drinks were large, inexpensive, and cold. No complaints at all. The service was also really wonderful, with friendly staff and very efficient servers. Like I said, nobody gave us a lot of grief for being from out of town. But, we could tell right away, this was a "local spot" and for a very good reason. Locals and regulars definitely make up the customer base, but they keep coming back for all the other reasons provided: good food, good drinks, and very reasonable prices. Example: I offered to buy a beverage for a very nice person who was incredibly helpful to us, specifically in arranging our spots on the shuttle bus. She was drinking a rail Old Fashioned. You know what that cost me? $3.50. That's not a South Park reference. That was what I paid for a rail cocktail! Anyway... if I'm ever in Appleton again, I'm stopping by. Stopped in for dinner and a few beers. I had the Beer Lovers Burger and it was outstanding! The burger was cooked perfectly and it was the right amount of cheese. . The Nashville curds were great too. Hannah and Brittany kept the beers flowin' and provided a great customer experience. I will be back! read more

This has become my new favorite fish fry joint. I have been here twice for Friday FF. It's really, really great! I've been a VFW fan only because it's a short crawl from my home. But , I will not be eating fish Friday at the VFW anymore since I've been to Rookies. It is a sports bar.. has friendly staff, a pool table, big bar...not a large amount of tables but enough and there's a very nice outdoor area. The 1st time I went... it wasn't as busy and we were able to get a table right away but, this Friday we went and we had quite a wait... it was well worth it. There were 8 of us and unfortunately they couldn't seat us together.I noticed that there was only one large table that they pushed together.. So plan to go with a party of 4 people if you want to sit together. The drinks were good and strong and I had the baked haddock both times that I was there. It is a whole loin of haddock ...a very large serving. Compared to what I'm used to at VFW which is only about a quarter of the size of the fish I had. This was such a great deal. It was $13.95 and came with really good coleslaw and I had the steamed vegetables which is a good mix of cauliflower, yellow carrots and broccoli. The people that I went with ordered the deep fried haddock, the deep fried blue Gill and the perch... again huge portions and said it was delicious. They don't offer baked potatoes yet but they have a large selection of fried items. I look forward to coming back and trying the pizza next time. read more

Fuck this place! Ordered through grub hub and driver sat there waiting for food. Wasn't ready so they left and assigned new driver. Called this place to see if food was ready and lady that answered the phone was bitchy. Asked the worker if they had an order there for us and all she said was "Jesus Christ yes it's ready" so glad I wasn't there. I would've snapped. Heard good things about the food. Had a Cuban for lunch. It was a great sandwich. Not a panini style, but the hoagie roll was toasted perfectly. Frys were hot and plentiful. I will definitely be back to try some different items. Chili was also good, but not very spicy. read more

I am hesitant to give this place 5 stars, not because they haven't earned it, but because I want to be able to get a seat here again. The Friday Fish Fry is BY FAR the BEST in the Fox Valley. I kid you not! Amazing combo with Perch, Haddock and Shrimp. The Bluegill was awesome as well. Excellent portions for the price. The homemade tartar sauce was great. Casey (Dana's daughter) was a great server. Here is a tip...be patient and expect to wait. It is TOTALLY worth it. read more
