Then the star of the show was a pasta dish, mafaldine with a Meishan pork ragu... they source the Meishan pork, a Chinese breed, dark and fattier than our typical cuts, from Ginger Snout farms, which supplies many of the best Michelin star restaurants in the U.S. it was incredible. Manageable wine list (I like smaller lists!) but seriously strong with a focus on northern Italy... had a barbaresco to pair with the pasta. Our server was expertly trained and had worked in fine dining venues from Maine to Montana... Delicious meal! I developed a bad habit of going to the this fabric store for hours, then heading to Meritage for a meal and drinks. Truly, the cherry on top. Meritage was addictive. It was hard to break away from a place where the bartenders quickly learn your name (because they know everyone else's) and the food is stellar. Trust me when I say get the French Onion soup. If they've got the same chef (young black female with her brother turning out dishes in the back), you're in for a treat. They have daily specials and over-the-top desserts, so treat yourself. You won't regret it.

All brick walls and an archway between the bar room and the dining room. Big wine rack in the dining room. The bar is also quite attractive and looks comfortable. I don't recall hearing any music but we were there at lunchtime on Sunday. Fire grilled artichokes grabbed me so we got this for an app. I admit I didn't read the description completely. The dish had seven little artichoke quarters drowning in Alfredo sauce. The artichoke was sweet and tender but all that sauce really overwhelmed it and this app is overpriced for the quantity. Later I realized we could have had them served with EVOO and parmesan which I would have much preferred. It was disappointing that the waitress didn't ask which preparation we wanted, and that the kitchen apparently did not ask her, either. Our two pasta dishes were delectable and the amount of protein was quite generous. We both loved our sauces, and the spicy Italian sausage (house made!) was out of this world. They sliced it nice and thin and there was so much, I was really in Heaven. The fettuccine and the capellini were done to perfect al dente. Our waitress did a great job and checked on us often. She was handling several tables and was constantly on the move but kept up well with all her guests. I was thrilled to see Limoncello cake on the dessert menu but a bit shocked at the high price.
