Always follow your gut instinct. That is what my husband and I did. Here is my scary review. I spoke with Elizbeth in a complimentary consultation. I address what my husband and I would like to achieve from her intimacy retreat and all the words seemed to have been perfectly what we needed. We proceeded to book the 3 day weekend with her and her husband. Upon booking she stated there was room for one more couple (this would mean we were numbers 7,8 out the max or 10). Fast forward to the day of the retreat and my husband and I stumble on a new negative review. I reach out to this author and didn't receive a response but it definitely triggered our already concerned feeling about this extremely expensive in comparison to other retreats like it around the country. We decide to arrive at a very residential area. We are greeted by a young women (labeled as helper), a younger man (alone but wearing a wedding band with an accent) and the owner Freddie. All greeted us warmly but not over the top. I proceed to talk to the young man (nick) and ask about his previous classes with tantra nova and he says it's his first time there. Then elzbeth enters and greets nick with a huge hug says welcome back and asks how is flight was. His face goes white (clearly lied to us 3 minutes previously). We proceed to go sit in a make shift studio in the living room with elzbeth. After barely greeting us she immediately demands rest of payment which we agreed would be cash. I ask to speak first due to I was a bit apprehensive about the recent review we saw. During the conversation she hit some very awful manipulative keys. I also asked if we could do the rest of payment at the end of the first day (4 hours) and she said "really that's now how things work". She said clearly we needed to be there due to trust issues (which my husband and I don't have) and well this is cheaper then a divorce right... all very rude things. During this time the only other couple that was listed arrived. Greeted by the other 3 with huge hugs welcomes as if they are best friends. My husband and I ask to have a private moment to talk and we went downstairs. While downstairs Silence went over upstairs and then the newly arrived women comes downstairs claiming to need to use the restroom (there was one upstairs) I ask her if she's ever done a class with tantra nova. She says no and to trust the process, believe, and if you don't like to then ya know we could just not come back tomorrow. Umm wait so we pay $3,200 for 4 hours. Hmmmmm. After adding in some other very uncomfortable feels we decide we are not going to stay for this retreat. (We did pay a $500 deposit). We go up and tell this to elzbeth and she was very angry and extremely unprofessional. Her husband Freddie I will say through this stayed professional. He walked us out. Ok so ending conclusion to this whole review is it was very clear they paid these others to be at this event to make it appear to me more then it is. I felt a very sex and manipulated vibe. I knew deep down something bad would happen if we stayed and our lives and children are more important. They need to be checked By police inside intell or something like that. I first came to Tantranova 6 years ago. I was immediately struck by the integrity of Freddy and Elsbeth, the safe container of the space, and the ways in which both of displayed warmth, love, and skill. I have always wanted to make meditation a part of my life but had never been able to make it stick. February 2011 I read a book called Shameless, the author kept referring to Sacred Intimacy and I was intrigued. I found myself researching the concept online and TantraNova came up in my search and very close to my home (what luck). After exploring their website I thought I would go and check out the introductory workshop. I was nervous (I had all these preconceived notions about what tantric was) so I didn't get up the nerve to go until May2011. Well the Introductory Workshop was amazing. Freddie and Elsbeth were great and made me feel so comfortable. I always associated meditation as something very serious but there was something so light and inviting at TantraNova. Not that they don't take the work serious but that is can also be fun. I can be a goofball and I feel very at home here. I connected to this form of mediation immediately. Since the initial Workshop; I have done some one-on-one work with Elsbeth, a Women's Workshop, a Massage Workshop plus practice classes and Body Work with Freddie. I now meditate at home (a practice I never thought I would make stick). I feel more centered and at home in my body. I am more patient with myself, others and life. I am making better choices for my own happiness, and I am more confident because I am really starting to listen to myself. I am still pretty early on in my journey here but the healing so far has been amazing. I can't wait to do more work with Elsbeth and Freddie in the future. Everyone needs a hero. For ages boys and girls have looked up to Superman, Wonder Woman, firefighters, sports figures, and celebrities for inspiration. Heroes give us strength and courage to get through the day-to-day sufferings of life. They are role models for who we want to become when we grow up. When we do grow older, the action figures and posters of our heroes are often left in attics collecting dust. We may or may have grown into something like what our childhood heroes portrayed. This weekend I was introduced to a new idea of a hero. The hero within. I discovered that we don't need to look outside ourselves for a hero, but that each of us is a hero in ourselves that is on a personal quest. This idea was born out of a one-man show entitled TantraNova Man starring Freddy Zental Weaver. The show takes the audience on a journey through Freddy Zental's own heroic journey to find creativity, joy, and pleasure in his life. As the play opens, the audience sees the birth of intelligence, of the human form from the star dust of the universe. It is a beautiful and interpretive piece that leaves the audience eagerly anticipating what is to come. Through the show we look into defining moments of Freddy Zental's life as his own heroic quest is played out for our entertainment and learning. We are first introduced to a curious young boy who hears his parents making love and are taken along as he strives to attain the loving, sexually charged energy of his first experience with sex. The quest includes a very comic recreation of his first orgasm, a vulnerable scene in which the audience sits with his aloneness during his parent's divorce, his love of basketball, falling in and out of love, and the rejection of the corporate world to create something more meaningful in his life. Through Freddy Zental's own musical creations and well-timed jokes, the audience is brought together and feels a sense of "oneness" and togetherness. The story on stage is left to be interpretive and synthesized into the audience members' own heroic journey. It is the opportunity to break out and transcend our "Samsara" or cycle of suffering and be in the adventure, be in the moment, be in the collective energy. At the end of the performance, the energy in the room is fulfilling and peaceful, yet buzzing with inspiration and arousal.
