We got there about 10am on Memorial Day. The place only had one open table, which was a good sign. We were sat and waited around 45 minutes for eggs and gravy. One person was served before us and we got there before them. My husband asked for ketchup and the girl decided to take another order so he got up and got his own ketchup. Found this cute local breakfast spot. It was warm and cozy inside. Friendly staff and my to go order didn't take long. While I waited they gave me a big cup of coffee. Also, snagged a couple T-shirts to support their local restaurant. Large portions of food and now I'm about to take a nap. lol read more

If you're in the area and hungry for some very homey and simple food, come here. You'll be happy you did! We came in starving and cold and ordered the chicken fried steak and the biscuits and gravy. While the chicken fried steak was very small (about the size of a hamburger patty) it was pretty tasty. I also noticed that the recent meat prices affected this restaurant and there was a sign at the entrance telling customers that some of their prices have recently gone up. I'm wondering if the CFS I ordered also had some portion control as well. Regardless, I still enjoyed my meal and my boyfriend seemed to really love his biscuits and gravy. You can't go wrong here. The name has changed to Tanya's Cafe, so it was a little confusing at first. We are breakfast here and I had the Mess. Two open faced biscuits. With scrambled eggs and hash browns on top. Then the whole thing was covered in the best sausage cream Gravy, I've had in awhile. My coworker had the breakfast burrito, which was huge and delicious. The wait staff was very helpful and pleasant, especially for that early in the morning. The price for both meals was so reasonable, we decided to eat lunch there also. Our waitress recognized us as we walked and offered us the same table we had for breakfast. We both had the lunch specials, which came out very quickly. I had the hamburger steak/ brown gravy and my coworker had the chicken fried steak. We each had three vegetables, which weee fresh and seasoned just right. The meal came with a slice of spice cake, which tasted just like the ones my grandmother used to make. The meal included a drink for less than $10. Needless to say this is our new favorite breakfast and lunch place passing through Mineral Wells. read more

This diner is a gem! You don't find them like this any more. Good food and exceptional service. We had lunch and they had three lunch specials for $5.95 ea including tea and dessert. We had meatloaf and chicken tenders. The food was homestyle served on an old fashioned divided plate. To the sophisticated diner, it would not be praise worthy, but for a guy who grew up with the blue plate special, it is great. It was a step back to a simpler time. A very nice experience. read more

I really like this place but a few recent times I have been the eggs I ordered as over medium were pretty runny and the woman or girl I got as a server was rude and never came back to refill our drinks or anything that would've been fine any other busy day but it was a Friday morning and it wasn't that packed like 3 tables were filled . Since September I have visited a half dozen times, both at breakfast and lunch and YOU CAN'T BEAT THEM. Oh, there was the day we got chocolate pie included with our lunch, that was a great day, or the first time I saw their delicate light as a cloud pure white cream gravy, after twenty years of being served gravy with puppy chow, I mean sausage, so disgusting, does not compare, It's not good gravy, it's great gravy. There's the half-inch thick slice of ham, just grilled to perfection so that it is slightly brown with a thin veneer of caramelization on both sides, and EGGS, I am so picky. I thought that they were a perfect over medium the first time was chance, but it is 100% consistent. Huge glasses of great freshly brewed iced tea and bottomless coffee cups make me feel so lucky to live nearby. I have eaten breakfasts all across America and this is the top spot in my book. You certainly cannot beat the price for quality anywhere. I wish there were ten stars and a special blessing for that pretty young blonde waitress who is as gracious and kind as she is efficient. Though there is no wifi, there is colorful local gossip; wifi you can get anywhere. Although I don't like to deer hunt, I do like deer hunters, and this morning yarns were being spun.
