We came here for breakfast before a show. I liked the Happy Days theme/ambiance and it was kind of fun and gave us something fun to look at for the over 30 minute wait that we waited. In fairness they told us it would be a wait, but we chose to stay anyway. Once it got there, Our breakfast was very average. The scrambled eggs were more just broken eggs on the griddle than they were truly scrambled. The biscuits and gravy were ok, but once again not great. The really good thing was the pancake, which was delicious. It was not a horrible experience but I'd probably try someplace else before I'd come back here. read more

I cannot say enough about this hidden gem. This is my daughter's happy place! We drive nearly 2 hours to est here. Their food is delicious! The atmosphere is very kitchie...a whole 50's vibe! And their home market hot sauce...I buy 3 every time we go because we love it. Oh and their strawberry shakes are the best. Nowhere in Abilene is even close. We tried this place for breakfast recently and had a good experience. The place is on the smaller side with about 12 tables/booths. We went around 9 am on a Saturday and timed it right. The servers were friendly. They have a large menu with options for everyone. It's on the pricey side for breakfast, but when we saw the portion sizes, you definitely get what you pay for. The biscuits and gravy were great. The classic breakfast plate was filling. My daughter enjoyed her fruit and cinnamon toast on the appetizer menu. My first time at Happy Days Diner LLC in Mineral Wells. Cannot believe I have waited so long. I was hungry for pancakes and eggs from somewhere other than my normal eateries. Trust me .... I was not disappointed. The pancakes, I should say pancake, because I could only one because I was so full. The eggs were cooked my favorite way. One over easy and one over medium. Ham had a great breakfast ham flavor and the hash browns hit the spot. I highly recommend. Breakfast is served all day. My kind of place. I kept looking for the Fonze to walk in at any moment. Stopped today on our way out of town after an anniversary camping trip. My wife is a huge diner fan so I thought it would be an awesome way to end the trip. We sat down and ordered around 10:30 and our food did not come out until 11:45. We tried to make the best of the wait for the first 45 minutes. Played old maid and enjoyed the decorations and wood work. The last thirty minutes were very frustrating. Nobody kept us updated with our order or if something was wrong. However they did keep refilling our drinks. When we got our food it looked fine but we were already frustrated. The first bite I took the food was cold. I got the twisted biscuit, the gravy tasted like dehydrated gravy, the biscuits tasted frozen the egg was cooked perfect though. My wife got the big breakfast plate with sausage and an extra side of bacon, the hashbrowns were fine but tasted like Waffle House hash browns (not a terrible thing) she took a bite of her sausage and it was not completely cooked. I had ordered a side of bacon and it came out with only one slice. My wife had also asked her scrambled eggs to have cheese with them and there was no cheese. Our waitress was very nice and offered to bring out another piece of bacon since a side should contain two. I was so done at this point I just said no thank you I want to pay for my meal and leave. I do want to point out that our waitress was very kind, when I was paying for the meal the tip screen came up and she said no don't worry about the tip. I of course still gave her a tip, but I don't know that I've ever had a server say that to me. Overall the food was way overpriced, a breakfast plate with two eggs one meat hashbrowns and French toast should not cost $18. The food without the cooking issues was okay, but the combination of that long of a wait, cold food, mediocre taste, high price, and simple mistakes from the kitchen after that long of a wait. Family owned and operated, it is friendly, busy, and the 50's music was playing. We had to wait just a minute for a table. A lady got up from her table and cleaned the table so we could sit. Did she work here? Nope, just a friend of the family! How sweet! The menu had the usual delicious diner food, and some of their own "recipes ". Ricky and I got the Patty Melt, but made "their way". I don't visit MW that often. My nickname for the town was Minimal Wheels. I dreaded coming because, in the past, our visits felt like there had been a burp in the Quantum realm and we were transported into our own version of Last Picture Show. Alas, the local cinema is alive and kicking. And there are more signs of hope--like this cheery little cafe downtown. I found Happy Days Diner after two failed attempts to get a decent breakfast. The first place I tried was closed and the next eatery shall remain nameless because mom taught me the old adage about silencing one's mode of expression if one could not offer even faint praise and...you know...the thing.... But about the second cafe...my acid test for a good breakfast is the hash browns. The cafe now designated "Second Place" should cease and desist from further efforts to offer the Hash That is Browned. They were so mushy and stale I suspect they're recycling their old grease and straining it through the hash. To achieve true Hashiosity, always use fresh, uncooked potatoes. The hash browns at the aforementioned unidentified greasy spoon were more greasy than spoon. No potato should ever be subjected to that. But then I found the charming, retro joys of Happy Days Diner. And some decent hash browns. Happy Days Diner more than made up for previous b'fast attempts and made this visit even more welcoming, as did much of what looks like a revived downtown Mineral Wells.
