A friend of mine mentioned this place to me and said that they do a great job and it's inexpensive where long hair is $25. There was a bit of a wait on a Sunday afternoon, but two people ahead of me chose to leave, so I ended up being next. There's was only a limited staff of a two person crew. One who was washing hair and the other cutting the hair. They are hard workers, told me that they have been at this location for 20 years and live right upstairs. Calls were coming in nonstop and the hairdresser, Jenny said that since she lives right upstairs her hours were flexible. Jenny kept checking to see if that's the length I wanted and etc... since she had time she curled my hair.

It was about a 17-minute walk from where I was currently at, so I called to check availability before walking over. Dominique answered the phone and told me she was happy to take me in as soon as I arrived. I communicated what I wanted: to cut off at least 15 inches of hair for me to donate then just have her add layers so that my face would be framed nicely. I explained that I have naturally curly/wavy hair and that I don't want my hair shorter than my shoulders when curly. She listened intently and very clearly understood the assignment. I let her know that I didn't really have an "inspiration photo" for what I wanted my hair to look like, but she told me not to worry and I trusted her. Throughout the entire process, she communicated EVERYTHING to me! She knew I was nervous about having short hair again, so I truly appreciated her transparency with what she planned to do while cutting as it made me feel at ease. The outcome is PHENOMENAL! I LOVE my new haircut (and so does my husband)!!! When I left the salon, she had straightened it out and it looked beautiful. The next day I wore it natural and it looked just as amazing! While…read moreI appreciated being squeezed in, this is clearly a high-volume chop shop -- clients were in and out within 10-15 minutes. I have long hair. The wash was bare minimum (I had to brush it myself), the cut was a rushed straight-across trim, and when a small knot couldn't be removed, that section was simply cut shorter. The blow dry was almost nonexistent and only done after I insisted; it wasn't fully dried and was finished with a flat iron. The entire service took about 20 minutes and cost $90. These prices might make sense in LIC or Manhattan, but the service here isn't remotely comparable. The space is run down, there's no atmosphere, and no real customer service. It felt like a rip-off, and I won't be returning.

And I can tell you it was the best salon expierence I have had. Peter is so attentive and really cares for his clients. He made me feel like a princess! Listened to what I wanted and was honest about what the outcome would be. He's well educated about what will work for your hair texture, skin tone, etc. He cares for your hair and its health. And the best thing is he hates BLEACH! He uses an oils based lightener for your hair and your hair comes out feel soft and smooth. 8 months later my color is still there, hair is still in good condition too. I recommend setting up a consultation with him. You can tell him what you want and he will walk you through the plan. Price wise, it is just a tad bit pricy, but still affordable compared to other high end salons. In my opinion you pay for what you get. Yes, there are other salons in the area that will do it for less but the results won't be on par and most likely you'll leave with damaged hair, worse than what you started with. WHAT I PAID: During my consultation Peter told me I'd be paying $180 or $190 (can't remember) My hair was below my shoulders and I wanted balayage. The price included wash, cut, blow dry and balayage. He even dyed my eyebrows to match my new color. I think that's a great deal considering how many services are included and the amazing results. But of course this doesn't include any tips. I left paying $230-240 and I think they deserved it since I was so happy with the work. There is a woman who works very closely with Peter he calls her his protégé, and she's awesome too, really gentle with the hair and helps Peter out a great deal. I can't say enough good things about this place. I will be making a another visit here, hopefully soon. The only downside to this place is its CASH ONLY. So be prepared to bring a hunk of cash for the appointment. Im gonna attach pictures showing you all how the hair looked from the day I got it done to a few days ago.
