They had no problems with my 4c hair, and I was tempted to change my service into a silk press. I took off a star because the salon rescheduled my appointment from 3pm to 1pm without notifying me. I was extremely disappointed with how my hair turned out. I requested the Wash, deep conditioner, blow and trim. It started off with the wash girl Isis washing my hair extremely rough, I requested for her to be more gentle at least twice before asking another girl named Brianna who previously washed my sister's hair to finish up mine as I was afraid Isis would not care for my 4c mane without aggression. Brianna was nice and gentle however my hair was not as straight as it could have been... I was expecting a true blow out but ir was subpa. Then Brianna had to pretty much beg for someone to trim my hair, she has to ask more than one stylist and finally someone agreed which is so unprofessional because why is she begging for a service I was already booked for. This place is definitely a 5 out of 10. The shampoo girl is great and I was offered a glass of red wine even though I never received it. My stylist was Brittany, even though I booked under Najee. She didn't speak to me the entire time I was sitting in her chair except to ask where I want my part. I was hopeful that her work would speak for itself unfortunately, it didn't. My hair is frizzy, my edges are undone and there are sections that feel like the flat iron never touched. I've had better silk presses from a random Dry Bar in the city. On top of that I arrived at 5:25p for my 5:30p appt. I didn't sit at the shampoo bowl until almost 7p and I didn't even get into her chair until 8p. Would not recommend this place at all. So in order for me to actually complete this review I had to select at least one star... that's the only reason this establishment and its owner received this. Let me walk you in the horror story of booking an appointment with this Trifling and thieving owner. I book an appointment 5 days before my Birthday. In addition to the appointment I was going to purchase hair from the owner as well. I didn't do my research I just saw the hair of a young, vibrant, and talented woman on instagram and her hair looked amazing, the owner tells me the vendor provided the wrong length hair but dyes the hair anyway I brought lengths 24,26,26. She dyes lengths 16,18, 18,. I was not told this until I called and called her over 10 times to ask what happened not only did she steal my money but she never apologized or gave a valid explanation why she insisted on dying the hair it she knew it was not what I asked for. I sent her over $300 dollars and only was sent back $200. The night of the incident I left and continued to strategize what am I now going to do at 12am the night before my Birthday. When I asked for the money I sent which I was told $100 extra dollars to dye the hair I had already purchased. I received no response back. Please do not waste your time doing business with this establishment. The owner is known for stealing and not doing honest business which I was not told about until after this situation. I would say to the owner and to anyone who things they are getting away with stealing and lying...Truth be told there is nothing you do on this earth that you get away with... you think because nothing has happened to you that it won't lol God is real and he always knows how to even the score.... Far better than I can. I hope the money you stole from me was worth it. Just avoid this place. FYI Nijee Bryant you don't determine when a paying customer makes an honest review about your lack of business and customer service. I was not a walk in. Your stylist who was very nice forgot to put me in her books as I had called the day before to schedule the appointment and you acknowledged that it was her mistake. My hair was not that beautiful and dry twisting LOCS for a style is not what you are supposed to do. Again if you are going to offer LOCS as a service make sure it is done appropriately. The stylist was nice, it was the obvious overlook of a 7hr wait for a wash, steam and retwist that was outlandish. Yes and as a black woman I can give a sub par review on the service I received. I wasn't offered water or anything and was in between her clients as I should have been accommodated and have been placed in her slots as it was her mistake. I arrived on time (1:45pm) my appointment was at 2pm and I expected to be out of there no later than 4:30 and left at 8pm when your shop closed. Please don't ignore the obvious fact that you had me sitting there waiting and said nothing to me or acknowledge the wait time. Again if you are going to offer a service make sure your research on LOCS is appropriate and in line with those clients. I've been a loyal client for over 3 years to this business so it's very disappointing that I have to leave this review. I walked in for a silk press and immediately when I walked in no one greeted me or cared to acknowledge I was there. I sat down and waited and 10mins until a stylist acknowledges me and asked me what do I want to do today. I told her I wanted to do a silk press & deep condition and she immediately told me no one was available. I told her I looked online previously and it said there were appointments with the owner Najee. She then went and talked to the other stylists' and I know one in particular Brittany didn't have a client. When the stylist asked her if she can take me she immediately had an attitude and was like "no no no" all in front of me. I understand if you're tired and you don't want to take anyone else but there's a way to go about things in a professional matter. I then left the salon disappointed and hurt due to being treated in this matter. I'm sorry but it's a 1/10 for me and I am very disappointed this happened. The stylists really took the time to listen to my preferences. I was offered water and mimosa which I thought was nice. Something to note is that they are cash only.. they did have an atm machine in the salon. I didn't have my debit card or cash so they did accept Zelle payment. Stop following what's trending on the internet... I damn sure learned my lesson with this place. This place is just advertising a nice space but no consistency amongst their workers. Booked for a half up half down quick weave for a wedding. Originally requested for the stylist who specialized in this hairstyle. Once my appointment was "reviewed and scheduled," I received someone different than the original request. Big deal? No, roll with life punches. Got to my 10 AM appointment and only one hairstylists was there. My stylist walked in at 10:45. Ok....not great but I have more than enough time to get my hair done beat traffic and get to where I'm going. The booking time on the website was 2 hours and some change. I didn't leave until 2:30/3 PM. My stylist was having a full blown discussion with the next chair stylist saying this was one of her first times doing the hairstyle....... like hello?? If I wanted beginner I would have asked. Left the salon paying an outrageous price for a half ass service. Went home look at my hair in the mirror to have the track showing on both sides near my ear, the molding already lifting up, and my skin very taut and in pain. I called to go back the next day which they gladly accepted. When I went back the girl told me "your skin in not bubbling or red but i'll fix it"...... AS YOU SHOULD BECAUSE THE TRACK IS SHOWING!! She managed to fix it to the best of her ability but the style didn't even last me more than 5 days and left bald spots behind my ears on my natural hair. I appreciate the effort but NEVER AGAIN. I found this business via Instagram by searching hashtags. I booked an appointment with Najee and unlike other hair salons and stylists I didn't need to pay a deposit which was refreshing. I arrived to my appointment but I was informed Najee wasn't in but she would be contacted. I was then told that a Tony would be doing my silk press. This made me a bit nervous because I wasn't notified in advance of this and I didn't see his name as an option to be booked for the service which led me to believe he either doesn't specialize in it or he's very new. I decided to stay because I really wanted my hair trimmed. After about 15 minutes, Tony arrives to the salon and greets me. He does a good job with my silk press and trim. He was also very nice and made good conversation. The shop is spacious and clean. I was out of the chair at a reasonable time. I'd return to this business. read more

She cut WAY MORE than she should have. My hair in the back is very very short (barely 3 inches.) I came here to get my hair done for a wedding that I have to attend in 1 day. I had a horrible experience. Where do I start... First the stylist dyed my forehead and it wouldn't come off, even after she kept scrubbing it with the dye remover. So, I have to attend a wedding with black dye on my forehead. Then she was suppose to install my i-part wig and just leave a little of my hair out in the center out to cover the track. She kept parting like it was a U-part wig and then tried to sew the wig down with it sitting on top of my ears. I kept saying it's an i-part wig not a u-part wig She's then told me "it's fitting like that because it's too big for your head" I said "no it's not. You're not listening to me about what type of wig it is and then your going to just sew it down and have it sit on the top of my ears....Please take this off my head" Another stylist then came and tried to fix it, but it still isn't what I wanted and I still have black dye on my forehead. They charged me $185 even though they knew I had a horrible experience and then told me the dye would eventually come off in the shower...although you have a wedding in a day your hair will cover the dye. I paid the fee because I was too upset to go back and forward about this not being right. More than anything, I'm disappointed because I really wanted to love this salon. im am in tears as i type this. this was my first time at The Beauty Cave, and I most certainly will NEVER BE BACK. I booked an appointment with the owner, Najee, online, and was hopeful to have a great experience, since i saw such great work being advertised on tiktok. I enter the salon and both of the girls there both look at me as if i'm BOTHERING them by just showing up. i tell them i have an appointment with Najee, and they look at me super confused, so i tell them i'm in for a silk press, trim, and deep condition. the girls glance at one another and one of them tells me to sit at a wash bowl. I wish i knew this woman's name, but she didn't speak to me for the duration of my appointment. she washed and deep conditioned my hair fine. she sat me down in her chair and proceeded to spin me around for the duration of my appointment, so i couldn't see what she was doing. she and the other woman talked it up the whole time she was blow drying my hair. i didn't really feel a lot of warmth being blown, but i wanted to trust the process and not mess with her method. then i feel her combing my hair a bunch, or so i THOUGHT. she was actually pressing it, but it was on such a low heat setting it was doing NOTHING. she then proceeds to start cutting my hair. i instantly speak up once i hear the scissors and say that i wear my hair natural 99% of the time and i want to retain my length so i just need the TINIEST bit off (my exact words). she cuts and cuts and cuts. and then spins me around. i wanted to sob just looking at it in the salon mirror. she took off like 3 inches of hair, and it looks barely blown out, let alone SILK PRESSED. she takes the apron off of me in silence (again, she said nothing to me this whole time), and i am just ready to go so i put my money on the counter, pass off a tip. and run out. i never leave bad reviews. and i LOVE to support black businesses, but i will NEVER return to the beauty cave. the customer service was terrible and i currently feel like the ugliest person alive. my hair means so much to me and it was all taken away in mere minutes. read more

I've been to this "salon" about 5 times since 2021. The last 3 times, I've been going in solely for trims. The person who does my trims is a person named Britney. The first time she was (dare I say) courteous? But then the following two times, I could sense the annoyance in her demeanor, i'm guessing b/c I go in solely to get trims. In the past,I overheard her complain to the salon owner that "i only come for trims", "i'm the one who only comes for trims". I let it slide the first time, and this time she uttered those same words. This year, she started to trim my hair with a disdained look on her face! She didn't even bother saying "Hi" to me before starting to trim my hair (forget "Happy New Year" that requires a minimum of manners, which she clearly lacks). She didn't even bother sectioning my hair before trimming. Seconds after starting to service me, she left to attend to another customer(giving her change or something). At the end she didn't brush away the excess hair she trimmed. She just trimmed and went about her business. You would think she trims my hair for free, the way she behaves. Unlike her, I was raised well, so I left a tip after the "service" each of the time I went there. I will NEVER go back, and I encourage anyone who values respect and their hard earned money, to avoid this place AT ALL COST! People like that will never succeed in life.
