Doub Double Eggs Pancake, Tao Rice Rolls, Sweet Soy Milk and Salty Soy Milk
    Tiffany G.

Order at the counter, has some seating available. Place was clean and opens early. The food was good. Tried the double egg pancake and two rice roll, both were solid. First time trying salty soy milk, had fried dough, seaweed and meat. The soy milk was perfectly sweet for my taste.

Under $15 for a full meal? In this economy?? We got the tao rice roll and the egg pancake and it was enough food for 2 people. It's a casual dine in place and we got our food pretty fast. I like the texture of the original rice roll with the crispy outside. Filling was savory and delicious. I preferred the rice roll to the pancake but that's just preference. Parking fills up when it's peak weekend.

I am so happy this spot opened up. Taiwanese breakfast rolls are my jam! The rice is nicely cooked and not dry, the fillings are fat. The doughnut is crispy. They have a lot of options to choose from! Everything is hot and made fresh to order.

This is the most delicious thing I've tasted in a loooong while. And the best part? Free hot water. I dined in and I don't think they had any heating system in place so it was quite cold in there (end of January is when I'm writing this). The rice rolls were straightforward and just generously stuffed with the perfect amount of filling for each roll. I got the sausage egg roll, sweet sesame roll, and tuna mayo roll. When you see "egg" on the menu, that means the roll is filled with a QUAIL egg (omg!) versus the "fried egg" which is what you'd expect with that name. The sausage egg roll had a sweet taiwanese sausage as the main filling. The tuna mayo was just OK, would not get it again, but it was still great. The rice is perfectly cooked and a nice chew, and the pork floss was slighted crunchy and added the BEST sweet, savory texture to the roll. I wish this place was opened for longer hours, but I'm so glad I got to try this place on my day off.

Located in the Dun Huang Plaza in Chinatown, Tao Roll and Pancake offers various Taiwanese breakfast/street food items. I tried the signature Tao Roll and the small noodle to go. The Tao Roll is a sticky rice roll filled with pork floss, fried stick, egg, sausage, mushroom meat lettuce and mayonnaise. While the size of rice roll looked not that big compared to a banh mi or a normal sandwich, it's actually pretty filling. The taste is simply the combination of all the fillings which is what you'd expect (personally would cut back or take out the mayonnaise completely). The small noodle was simple and tasted comforting. Overall, I think this is a good grab and go spot to try out if you are in the area, I wouldn't go all the way to Chinatown just for some rice rolls.

I've always seen this place and finally had the chance to go in and I'm so happy I did. I love this place. It was so fast and pretty cheap. I had the Tao and the Taiwan roll and they were so good! There was a good amount of filling and it was so easy to eat. It was super easy to order, but I think they had limited English sometimes.

I decided to stop here on my way to San Antonio from Galveston. Looked up reviews and so decided on here. It's a busy little restaurant but the service was fast and efficient. Not much room to sit, they can seat probably 12 people at the most. So plan on a take out order if you're pressed for time. The food portion is smaller than American restaurant but very filling just enough to get full.

Ordering is really simple-- there's someone that takes your order and then you have to wait for a bit since there are some people cooking the food immediately as it's ordered. We ordered a double egg pancake and a sausage egg roll. There is so much food for honestly a really great price. Food is really well seasoned and resembles street food in Taiwan.

i've seen this place for a while and have always wanted to try it! we tried the original rice roll and original crepe. i liked being able to watch them make it right in front of me. there are a lot of ingredients that go in, but i think by the end of both, i felt like it became a bit one dimensional. i preferred the crepe more due to the more apparently varying textures and chili oil. the pickled vegetables and rice in the roll were both delicious.

YUMMMM! So rare to find traditional Taiwanese breakfast anywhere and this place did NOT disappoint. Cheap and delicious, you can start your morning off right with a fresh steaming cup of hot soy milk paired with a crunchy buttery Chinese long doughnut Their rice rolls are also amazing. The ratio of sticky rice to filling is perfect - while the descriptions of what's inside might not sound appetizing o the menu, all of them are crafted with the perfect combination of flavors. My favorite is the Taiwan Roll but I've tried and loved the Tao Roll and Traditional roll. The Taiwan pancake is good fresh and unique but after trying it I would rather get another rice roll or the scallion pancakes (thin, flakey, CRISPY - maybe a lil oily BUT delicious)

Came here to pick up a quick meal while studying in the area and was so pleasantly surprised. I got the Taiwan rice roll and it was SO GOOD. The sausage paired so well with the egg yolk and pork floss. I also tried a bite of my friend's eel roll which was so good as well. Service was quick and the place was cute to sit in and grab a quick bite! Will definitely be back!

It's been so hard to get to this place because their hours don't align with my schedule but I finally got to visit in the morning. They specialize in Taiwanese rice rolls and egg pancakes. The menu is simple but youcan customize with with as little or as many toppings as you'd like I ordered the double eggs pancake with spam. Keep in mind that there's a $10 minimum to pay with card. It took quite a while for my order to come out. I waited at least 15 minutes and it was not that busy. I ordered mine to go and I liked the bag that it came with. The pancake was wrapped in parchment paper but the plastic bag contained the chili oil and helped me not make a mess in the car. The pancake itself was nice and soft with thin crispy edges. I loved all of the toppings it came with and the chili oil added a little spice. I was definitely full afterwards. This place is worth trying if you're in search for a savory breakfast.

Tao Rice Rolls: I didn't care for the lettuce, but I really liked the purple rice. It was good, but not one of my faves.

When I discovered this place, I just had to try all the rolls I was interested in to see which I liked best. I could only eat 2 at a time, and I don't think they'd stay fresh for more than a few hours, so I came back around 5 times within 2 weeks. They make the rolls in just a few minutes and are very convenient if you need to get something to eat very quickly. I think I was in and out in under 5 minutes every time. They have a little inconsistency with the rice and sizes, but it's rare, just something to note. The rolls were smaller on my 4th visit and the rice was less seasoned. I guess it depends on who makes it because it was a different woman this day than all the other days. I didn't enjoy these even close to as much, unfortunately, and wouldn't have gone back if this was my only experience. There was also a time where one of my rolls had rice that was a little dry compared to the other one. But usually, the rice is moist and well-seasoned. In general, I also prefer the purple rice, but both are good. Also, the fried sticks in the rolls are one of my favorite parts! They have a nice crunch and add great texture to the rolls! Everyone has different tastes and preferences, so you may have to try a bunch of rolls to figure out which ones you like, like I did. There were some I loved, some I thought were fine, and some I really didn't like, but the ones that I loved were worth trying the ones I didn't like, you just have to find the ones for you (my favorites are the eel roll and seafood roll). EEL ROLL: Good! Great flavor! Didn't notice the mayo or cheese at all. Idk if I even saw any. If it was there it was very light. Good eel! They didn't skimp but it also wasn't overloaded with it. Decent amount. One of my favorites! TAIWAN ROLL: There was a lot of radish and they had a nice crunch. Small sausage, which was disappointing, and it pulls out when you bite it so it isn't a great filling imo. There wasn't a lot of salted egg. It felt like I only got a bite or two of it. TAO ROLL: I liked it with the purple rice! I didn't care for the lettuce. Good, but nothing about it feels like it stands out to me. Needs something else. Idk what. SEAFOOD ROLL: Shrimp and octopus are the listed seafood ingredients, but there was also imitation crab and lettuce, which were not listed. The octopus was chewy, but I liked it! Made it feel more meaty than the other rolls. It felt like a lot of filling, more than the other rolls. One of my favorites! BLACK PICKLED ROLL: "Mei-Cai-Pickled Meat" is listed as an ingredient, but I don't think there's any meat other than the pork floss. Mei-cai is pickled mustard greens, so that was the main ingredient. It was very mild though and there wasn't much of it. KIMCHI LOIN ROLL: Good kimchi! Not spicy. The pork was decent. I prefer other rolls over this one, but the kimchi option gave nice variety from their other options. TUNA ROLL: There was corn in this even though it's not listed as an ingredient. I didn't like that it was in there. It oddly reminded me of Che Bap (viet dessert). It's not bad, but kind of a weird combo, especially for a breakfast/lunch food. I'd probably like it a lot more without the corn. (HALA) BEEF ROLL: The beef was dry and didn't seem to be seasoned? It just tasted like beef, if you know what I mean. There was a little sauce, it tasted like bbq? I only tasted it in a couple of bites so there was barely any. There also wasn't a lot of beef. I'd skip this one. SWEET ROLL: Unfortunately, this was WAY too sweet! I think there were literal clumps of sesame sugar that I had to spit out because it was too much. This was really disappointing. If you look in the pic, it's the black-looking sugar in the middle. Not spread out at all, just concentrated in the center. This was, by far, my least favorite roll.

For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our first visit there, she gave us some background that it was a Pappa's owned restaurant and food is made from scratch. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service. Depending the food you get, it gets the job done for some sustenance to hold you over when you're not sure when your next meal is because you'll be in Galveston for 7 hours riding a float in the Mardi Gras parade.
