We split the Clams Oreganato which were very good. I had the Chicken Francese entree, and enjoyed it. The wife got salmon Piccata, a very large portion of salmon filet and a generous portion of spinach. They have a limited offering of bottled beer and wine. The service was okay. This is a great little Italian resturant on the New Fairfield - Danbury border. Rigo, the owner, is very friendly. The Italian food is terrific. I love the chicken and veal francese. This place isn't even average. Three ago a friend of mine, who had cancer, was told he was not cancer free and allowed to leave the house. We decided not to go crazy but to try Taormina. The meal was ok, NOT great. At the end the waitress was talking to us and we told her about my friends story. She then went to the owner and old angry looking woman and asked to give us a free dessert. The old lady said no! We were shocked. We'd have paid for it but we're so disgusted with this angry old lady's approach we left. We've told all of our fronds in the area and none of have eaten there since. An unassuming spot in Danbury dishing out amazingness. Pizza in Connecticut is a thing. And Taormina delivers. Their sauce is like tomatoes singing a duet with garlic in dulcet tones that could revive Sinatra. Their pizza is like listening to that duet on silken cushions of mozzarella. Really good food. The owner/chef greets you on the way in, then thanks you on the way out. It's very apparent that he wants everyone who comes in to enjoy the food that he prepares. The place is small, decor dated, but that adds to the relaxing feel of this restaurant. My wife and I usually order from the specials menu, but we've had regular menu dishes and pizza as well, it's all excellent. Nice place to bring the family. read more

Don't let the small and unassuming building fool you, this is the best Italian restaurant in the area. The veal is the tenderest of any restaurant around. The chicken is also excellent. The bread is baked on premises and is always warm and soft. I have also bought the pizza dough for home use, and can say that it is superior to any pizza restaurant that I've tried. All pasta dishes are served with a salad (which is a unusual for similar restaurants) and all entrees come with a salad and either a pasta or vegetable (which seems standard). I am somewhat disappointed that I can't, to my knowledge swap a soup for a side salad. However, the quality of the food easily makes up for this flaw. The low prices here don't hurt either. Although this restaurant is small, I rarely have had a problem getting a table here. However, during peak hours, it is usually a good idea to call in advance. read more

Have had several meals here and all were good. Desserts are homemade and available for purchase with advance notice. Someone commented on the bread and I will admit, not great. It is either sitting too long in fridge or quality of flour is bad. Fish dish good, eggplant parm good. My honey mustard dressing on salad was spicy-just the way i like it. Dishonest. Ordered 2 pizzas tonight, one sicilian one small cheese pizza. Come home and open the small cheese pizza box and there is a 3 inch diameter hole right in the middle of the pizza and two slices have no sauce or cheese near the end. Call to complain and at first the chef tried to act suprised, but then admitted he knew and took $2 off the price. Buyer beware. read more

I wasn't expecting much by the exterior of this restaurant but in my 58 years I have never had worse food in my life. First we waited over 2.5 hours for our food. It was New Year's Eve so we weren't too upset, however the bread was stale and falling apart so our entire table was starving. The rest of my table (5 other people) all got their food and for some reason I didn't get mine until they were all half finished. I finally got my dinner, which were the twin lobster tails on special. They looked very unappetizing and were clearish purple. They taste even worse than they looked, they were undercooked, slimy, and tasteless. They tasted like they cooked them in dish water instead of broiling them. The only other thing on the plate was a baked potato. I figured I'd fill up on that, however it was ice cold and hard as a rock. I believe it was yesterday's potato. I was with a large group and didn't want to make a fuss so I caught the waitress on the side and let her know about the dish. The waitress was very gracious and accommodating and was willing to make me something else however everyone was finished with their dinners and since my dinner took 2.5 hours to cook I was afraid another dish would take a long time to cook and everyone would have to wait on my behalf. I told her a small side dish of spaghetti with meat sauce would be fine. They came right out with it and with absolutely no exaggeration it tasted like canned dog food. It was even the color and consistency of dog food, light brown. Who ever heard of a light brown bolognese sauce? Maybe they were mad at me for returning the lobster tails and thought it would be funny to serve me dog food. It smelt exactly like the soft dog food I serve my dogs so I know what it smells like! It was absolutely disgusting! Starving, I ordered dessert. The chocolate mousse cake was OK, finally something at least edible. The milk they gave me for my coffee curdled when I added it to my coffee. Not alot, but there was curdle in there. I gave up, I couldn't wait to get home. They are not Italian and they have absolutely no idea how to cook italian food! read more

As others have said, the parking is a little treacherous, if you're not paying attention you could find yourself backing out into active traffic. This is probably the only downside to this restaurant that we saw. Extremely good, very inexpensive Italian food tucked away in a tiny corner of Danbury. Always fresh and always delicious. We like the assortment of fresh clams on the half shell, chicken varieties and specials. Feels like family when you go easy parking too. We dine here twice a month. House wines are good and the homemade ice cream is a really nice finish. read more

Went here for Valentine's Day dinner 2/14/2012. Some of the very best Italian food I've had in the area in a long time. Can't wait to go back! The inside of the restaurant is cozy and friendly. I had the simple spaghetti and meatballs, and my fiance had the penne alla vodka. We also tried their version of mozzarella sticks, which was a large piece of their house made mozzarella, fried and topped with their house made marinara. All three dishes were absolutely delicious. Homey Italian, with fresh homemade desserts that aren't too sweet. Usually there are excellent specials to try. We have enjoyed their fish specials. Average wine list and not over priced. Friendly neighborhood atmosphere yet quiet enough that you can have a conversation. Cute seasonal decorations add to the comfortable ambiance. Plenty of parking on the side of the buidling, so no need to back out onto Rt 39. Have not tried their pizzas but always see many being picked up as take out. read more

Went there for dinner last night on the recommendation of friends and and it was...eh. Half full on a Friday night at 7:30pm with most of the other diners already having their main dishes...and it still took 45 minutes to get our pizza and entree. Seems that the takeout is prioritized over the dining room. No apologies or checking in with us from the staff, no offers of extra bread, nothing. Just left us sitting there wondering where our food was and not making any eye contact with our table--which is pretty impressive when there are only about a dozen tables. The owner wasn't any warmer or better--and she gave the guy at the next table a hard time when he seated himself because one of her employees told him to do so. Also noticed that when other tables received their meals, nothing was delivered at the same time--the only other table waiting for food as well had 5 people and their meals sort of came out one or two at a time over a 10 minute span. The food is OK--chicken marsala looked boiled and rather naked on the plate with a few mushrooms. No veggies, no potatoes, just a small bowl of pasta on the side--for $17. Pizza was okay, nothing special. Sad to say Bertucci's has better food. Woudn't return. read more

This is above average Italian in a slightly unusual setting - a house that's the only business around. I suggest springing for the extra $1.50 or whatever to get the crumbled gorgonzola on your salad. Their chicken marsala is very good. I haven't had dessert there, but they look homemade.
