Probably the worst pizza I have ever had. Extremely bland. Very little sauce. Ordered pepperoni and extra cheese. Maybe three pieces of pepperoni per slice and if I got extra cheese I wonder how skimpy it would be without the "extra." I threw away most of my $24 pizza. read more

Ordered for pick up to a very uninterested rude person over the phone. First time eating/ordering from here and we were really disappointed. Chicken rolatinni is basically boiled chicken breast with stuff in it. No flavor or spices. I actually thought it was fish when I first saw it. (Also no mozzarella to be see on top). very dry and over cooked. The pasta that came with the entree was once again lacking flavor (please use salt!) Chicken Parm hero was eaten by my husband and he also complained of the lack of cheese... I mean really?? How can you not add enough cheese to a chicken Parm hero? Today there was a young female cashier who handled this old angry dude like a boss. The old feeble angry dude was super mad about getting some mushrooms on his food when he apparently asked for it to not be included. Rather than being an adult and understanding that the cooks in the back made a tiny error he tried to shame and yell at a young 20 something girl over a small mistake, making the meal of every family at the restaurant super awkward and delaying everyone else's order. Luckily the girl had poise and a backbone and she handled the situation very well. This place is a 10!!! Totally unexpected to be so good. We move to Ridgefield a few months back and usually go to Posa or TerraSole. The #of stars I saw made me not really wanna try it here. But we live close and wanted to try something new. I haven't read any of the reviews that are less than 5 stars but WOW!! Great food and I'm a picky picky person. It's our first time and brought my 8 year old so wanted to try the 'kid friendly' entree first. Fettuccine Alfredo was one of the best if not the best I've tried. Light cream and noodle vs the usual heavy stuff. The spaghetti with meat sauce was delish! My son who hates salad even said the Caesar salad was tolerable. (I liked it!) Servers were friendly and attentive and atmosphere nicer than I expected. To think when I rolled into the parking lot, I almost left really wanting a good dinner. - This WILL be our new IT spot for local Italian. read more

This is a popular casual Italian / pizza restaurant, especially on a Friday or Saturday night when you can expect to wait up to an hour to be seated if you show up between 5:30-7:00, after that, the crowd thins out and adult seating takes place-- easier to get in. Young families, high schoolers and moms with kids are gone. The Food: They have scungilli! And the scungilli salad is perfectly delicious. The pasta and eggplant Dishes are wonderful. Unfortunately the pizza is not very good. We had a large eggplant pizza, and found it Far too doughy and undercooked for my liking, we left without taking the uneaten slices of our pie. I walked across to Venice for a bite to eat while my car was being worked on at Copps Hill Shell. I was delighted to discover that their seafood salad includes scungilli. (Snails are delicious, yet they seem to be under-appreciated in American restaurants. Give scungilli, escargot, and conch a try when you get the chance, seriously!) But I digress. The service at Venice was very down to earth and fast. And the salad was amazing. I would definitely like to try more dishes in the future, but I have a feeling I'll be stuck on the seafood salad for awhile. read more

Maybe it's been a long time since I had great Italian food (Mulberry St. in Manhattan used to be a regular haunt for me but I haven't been there for many years now), but I came here without any expectations, and was suitably impressed. My brother lives in the area and I originally came to this location about 10 years ago, after watching a niece's dance recital. I think it was a different Italian restaurant at the time, although it was in the same building, but I don't remember it making any particular impression on me back then, either positively or negatively. I was in the area not long ago to assist family with an errand that had to be done, and this was the place picked for lunch. I didn't have any objections, although...as I've mentioned...I didn't have any great expectations either. The tab was being picked up for me, and I was game (and hungry, by that point). I should say that I love Italian food, but it doesn't always take great effort to satisfy me. I loved Manhattan's Mulberry Street back in the day (the old Luna's and Umberto's...the original one, where the holes left by the bullets that claimed the life of mobster "Crazy Joe" Gallo in 1972 were still visible in the walls...were my favorites), and there are a few here and there in NJ that rate highly (as another side note...I'm nothing if not verbose...the only other decent Italian food I ate outside of the NY/NJ area, besides Italy of course, was in Chicago and...strangely enough...Tijuana, Mexico, but I digress...), but I usually can find even mediocre chicken parmigiana and pasta acceptable if I'm hungry enough. An Italian restaurant has to really work hard for me to dislike it. Like Domino's hard. Which is not meant to damn Venice Restaurant with faint praise. Anyway, for all I know, these are the same owners who were here when I dined at the place 10 years ago, but I don't think so. Even though the layout of the restaurant seems similar. Bread and butter were quickly supplied and, being ravenous, I dug in (the relative picking up the tab said, "Y'know, Italians don't use butter with their bread," but I didn't care; I was hungry and the bread and butter combination tasted just fine). My relative/dining-companion/benefactor ordered gnocchi; I ordered...you guessed it...chicken parmigiana with spaghetti. Usually when I'm trying a new Italian restaurant, I order lasagna as a yardstick to measure its quality by, but since I wasn't paying my own way, I thought chicken parm and spaghetti was a more modest proposition (although I ruined that calculation by impulsively ordering a side of sausage). My relative liked her order. And I really liked mine. I have to mention that I'm really not up on New England style Italian food (I ate it once or twice in Providence, Rhode Island, years ago, and that's about it). Is it better or worse than the NY/NJ area variety? I couldn't really say (although logic would suggest that the NY/NJ variety is better), but I really liked what I had. The chicken parmigiana wasn't (or at least didn't seem to be) the bland, Sysco-supplied product that I've gotten so used to during the last few years in numerous Italian restaurants everywhere. Everything tasted fresh, and zesty. The spaghetti came in a substantial side dish, with a rich sauce and freshly grated cheese. And the side of sausage really hit the spot. Service was a little spotty, but friendly and efficient enough, and the spottiness that there was didn't really amount to anything that would prove detrimental to the entire dining experience. My eyes ultimately proved bigger than my stomach, and I ordered a chocolatey dessert nightmare called "the Bomb." Indeed. It wasn't homemade; it's obviously something pre-made that's shipped in from somewhere else. Even if it had been whipped up from scratch by a Michelin-rated Pastry Chef Extraordinaire, I should have avoided it. I'm not 17 and can't eat like I used to when I was 17. My expanding waistline cried out, "Help!" and I didn't listen. Hopefully, I'll listen next time. Bottom line; I liked this place, was more than satisfied with my meal, and would eagerly dine here again. read more

The deserts cost it a 5 star. The biscotti is tasteless store bought. Suggest two homemade deserts on the menu. Would include biscotti that has great shelf-life and ricotta cheese cake. If i could give no stars i would. 2 weeks ago i order to go and after 45 mins and driving there i waited an additional 20 mins and no order. They wanted to give it to me for free and i refused. I decided to give them a second chance and have dinner since rules have lifted to eat at the restaurant. I got seated and waited for about 15 minutes and no body asked us for drinks or appetizer . A wonderful family owned Italian restaurant in the heart of the town. One will often find this restaurant very crowded during the week, which is a great thing. these days. The food is freshly made and very generous. The menu variety offers every type of dish one might think of. Monday through Thursday, there is a dinner for two deal available as well as the regular menu. Food is very flavorful, generous and warm. The owner often walks to each table to check in on the guests. Desserts are very tasty as well, however, I really recommend the cappuccino which comes with a dunking cookie. Attire is very simple, and it is not dress up fancy, though you may; rather, it is a small restaurant, casual attire, with a pizza, shop attached, and a dining room for a good times and good food. Wait staff is attentive and very professional. Highly recommend Venice as each visit has been something to look forward to. read more

I've been coming to get food hear since I was a kid and not only does it have the biggest slice of pizza I've ever seen, but the tastiest as well. The people who work there are also so nice, I remember the owner from when I was a kid and he never fails to say hi when I walk on. Used to like getting take out food until I went this past Friday night. Too many people in waiting area for take out pick up. It was difficult to stand apart from each other. Two people (priests mind you - not a joke!) walked into the crowded front entrance with no masks on at all. Strolled through the restaurant and sat at a table in the dining room. I've been dining here for 2 decades now and fairly often. Excellent food, and consistently good. Service dining in is very good (although not very careful during Covid, masks need to cover the nose!). However - take out service is bad. They often underquote the wait time by a large margin, and the order taker by phone and cashier are both quite rude. Owner or Manager, you need to fix this. Talk to these two individuals. Also problematic with take out is getting the order right. At this point I need to have them talk through the contents of the bags when I arrive. And those side salads will ALWAYS come with oil and vinegar no matter HOW MANT TIMES I ask for blue cheese! One more important note - they are too easy going with COVID restrictions. Keep the doors open as late in the season as possible! Don't let the cashier area overcrowd, and by all means - wear the face mask properly!!! read more

I put 3 stars up there, but its more like 3.5 - This is good pizza, and its not a chain/franchise which makes it a bit better. Venice makes a good pizza. I forgot that my favorite was the Sicilian last time I was there and just had a plain round pie and it was good but after seeing the Sicilian i remembered and wished I had got that instead :( We grew up going here, back when it was in the original location that is now where the stop & shop is. It used to be much bigger, but never was overly crowded (i was never there at peak pizza hours i guess). Now in the new spot its a pizzeria oven/take out slice area up front and a small seating area in the back with a few more tables outside for when its warmer. Like i said - The dining room is small and it will be crowded if you are there at a busy meal time. If you dont like sitting practically on your neighbors lap, get it to go. Recently I have only had pizza here, but all the pasta dishes coming out were nice big portions and everyone was eating them up so I can assume they were as good as they looked. They do some meal/wine specials that looked like they were good and it seemed like a lot of people were getting them. The pizza is still great, as it was in the old place. So, I know it's a pandemic, and I usually love the food, but the last couple of take out orders were really disappointing. Both times, I recognized that the marinara was not their own (it tasted like Prego, or another store-bought brand). The second time, we ordered pasta primavera and it was topped with frozen vegetables. I really want to support this restaurant during these times but I'm afraid the quality has gone down. I understand the staff might not be what it once was and the produce quality and shipments are often difficult to manage, but if this is the case, take the more complicated items off the menu. Please don't use cheap sauce or frozen vegetables. You can do this! read more
