I couldn't disagree more! Mathew & Fields has always been a "top notch" business. Yes, you sometimes have to put up with a few "quirks" when dealing with a small, hometown business. Several years ago I was remodeling my front entryway and needed some 8' MDF trim cut to 6'. I remember the gentleman described by Harry G. A little rough around the edges? Yes, but overall a good guy. Complaining because the guy is black and "scared" poor ole' Harry? Give me a break. Thank God we still have lumber yards like Mathew and Fields. The big box stores have put so many of these "little guys" out of business.

When it was delivered, it was a 32" door. When he called about it, he was told that they would order us a 30" door for half price delivered. BUT...no take backs and no credit for their mistake. Take your chances...make sure they get your order right or you will eat it! Oh, and then I called and left Mr. Matthews a message but no return call.

The prices are fair, and depending on the day, they can have them ready in about an hour (sometimes even faster), which beats waiting days like other spots. A few times a year, usually around the holidays but sometimes other times too they run a buy-one-get-one-free deal. Definitely worth checking out, but I'd give them a quick call first to confirm when it's happening. They also have a punch card program, and I grabbed a knife bag for $5 that's totally worth it. All in all, it's a solid neighborhood hardware store-with friendly staff, fair prices, and plenty of parking in the strip mall area.

The sales team -- especially Mike G. -- was spectacular. They spent several hours with me over multiple visits helping me understand how to evaluate different options and ultimately recommending the best solution for my specific situation. I never felt pressured, only supported and well-informed. The installation experience was perhaps one of the best I've ever had with any home improvement company. The Rochester Colonial team was highly skilled, professional, and incredibly respectful of my home. Unlike other contractors I've used in the past, they used plastic barriers to wall off the work area so dust and dirt didn't spread throughout the house. They paid attention to every detail and even mopped the floor before leaving. The craftsmanship, professionalism, and customer care exceeded my expectations. I couldn't recommend Rochester Colonial more highly.

Now they are telling me they can't honor it, probably hoping I'd just keep the order anyway. Such bad business practices. The old bait and switch routine. I am in sales myself and would never not honor something I put in writing for a customer. I will never shop here again. And I recommend you not shop here either. I said it displayed the wrong amount. He screamed "IT WILL CORRECT". Put my card in, guess what? Wrong amount. I told him he shouldn't scream at me as I am the customer. He became red, got up, and asked a co-worker to correct the problem. What a nasty guy. Yes, I am a woman. Yes, I instal hardwood floors. Get used to it, Ken. He later apologized.....not for screaming, but for charging the wrong amount. Apologized from the other end of the store. Wimp!

I had James Goff, owner of JCG Renovations, put a metal roof on my house in 2018. Initially, I…read morethought the job was completed satisfactorily. However, other contractors that would give me estimates on other work would point out areas that were never finished and I have been trying to get James to finish the job ever since. At one point, he did show up to install some flashing on a dormer, but ran out of material and promised to order more and be back in 2 weeks. That never happened. This roof is supposed to come with a warranty, but I don't expect that he will ever honor that. Thankfully, I had my house sided this year and the guys doing the siding were able to fix the trouble spots with the roof so I no longer need to worry about it. Be warned, this guy is smooth but has no ethics or conscience apparently.

Never on the job supervising the unprofessional and sloppy work that is being done. Starts a job, gets GREEDY takes on additional work forgets about you and may never come back to finish your job or make good on all his promises. The work is mediocre at best and clean up is never an option. My dog cut her paw open on debris left in yard. They took down an electric service box on the house so they could side and left it hanging with electrical wires all over the ground, my in ground pool feet away from this. Had no explanation on why this dangerous, illiterate action was done leaving it like that for 6 weeks! Then wanted me to pay his electrician friend a ridiculous amount to fix it. I did have to get an electrician to fix it at a fair price. Purchased siding for whole house, took all that was left over and I don't have any in case a piece comes off. Now, I'll address that issue. Siding over garage is falling down and loose. Siding on the top of the house all the way around not properly executed. Places that needed to be wrapped were not and some places that were wrapped are warping. Installation of front doors...what a joke...they cracked the trim and basically just set the doors in the opening. The wind blows right thru sides and middle of door and they are lop sided. I have 13 interior doors that were suppose to be installed and they are still sitting in their boxes. This work was all started in the SUMMER and still remains incomplete. The owner, who will not be a man and call me back after numerous calls is a true example of an illegitimate, thief of a so called business owner. Never, ever would I recommend jcg contractors for any job. Unprofessional as it gets. With all that being said, the owner has a way of making you believe everything he says but BEWARE....he is a man with no conscious, Morales or dignity...how he sleeps at night is beyond me..........
