We recently hosted a rehearsal dinner for our son and his new wife, at our home, 120 people were in attendance. The event was held outdoors with a beautiful view of Birch Bay. I have been a long time customer of DHOC. We love our oysters! The highlight of the dinner was to have Adam from DHOC set up am oyster bar at the party. It was the focal point of the dinner and a tremendous hit with our guests. Adam served, cooked and shucked raw oysters. They were all fantastic! I cannot say enough about how fun it was to DHOC at this party. We will definitely have them back again this summer. If you are hosting a party, add oysters to menu! Hubby loves oysters so he convinced me to have lunch here. I'm not sure I agree with the many vegetarian options claim but I did enjoy the grilled romaine without bacon and blue cheese. I appreciated being able to sample the dressing before ordering as I would not want the taste of anchovies to be too strong. The grilled sourdough bread was a nice finish to the salad. We had also ordered a side of bread and the herb butter was delicious! Hubby had the combo half basket with shrimp, oysters, and halibut and it was tasty and just the right amount. It's been a few years since I first visited Drayton Harbor OC, and I gotta say - they are the gift that just keeps giving in the fresh oyster department! My mom, daughter and I set out for a Mother's Day adventure yesterday, taking the scenic route to Birch Bay then up to Blaine with one goal in mind: oysters. We arrived mid-afternoon, ordered up a dozen beauties on the half shell (mom got a taco), I grabbed a pint of beer, and soon enough all of the delishness was in front of us as we gazed across the harbor with views of Canada. The oysters were, as expected, fresh, meaty, and delicious. They were served simply, with a couple of slices of fresh lemon and a frozen, "shaved" mignonette that was out of this world. My daughter, who is new to the world of raw oysters, ate 4 and I ate the rest. (Was going to order more but by that time the line was out the door!) Mom enjoyed the spiciness of her shrimp taco, and I enjoyed my cold vienna lager from local Larrabee Lager Co. I got Norovirus from here from the Oysters. Found out the FDA put a warning about this place out. Wish I knew sooner. Reading the FDA warning it was from a couple months ago but I was in there yesterday, started feeling sick. If you are ever visiting Blaine or on the way to the border. I highly recommend you try these oysters. They catch them the same day, so you get sweet fresh oysters. There is plenty of street parking around the area. You order your food at the counter, then they give you a number so you can choose an inside or outdoor seat. The table we were sitting at had oyster shells inside a net of the table. Make sure to bus your own tables when you finish! Shrimp taco - shrimp was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The taco was so good with the sauce on top and lemon drizzle. Grilled oyster - the bread pairing was good with it. Dozen oysters- the oysters were so fresh and delicious. You can taste the slight brine of saltwater pair so well with the sweet/meaty oyster. The best oysters I've encountered in WA so far. Fish Poboy- fish was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The slaw and tomato were a nice pairing with the poboy and the French fries were cooked to perfection. read more

What a nice surprise! Our friends from the area wanted to try out the Oyster house. We got there around happy hour after a round of golf, and found an inviting sunny patio space. We started with fresh oysters on the half shell. The good: fresh and briny and not too large. Nothing I would describe as larger than medium. The downside: Only one variety of oysters, Pacifics, but they were fresh and briny. You order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. We enjoyed the oyster chowder, bread and butter, shrimp po boy and fish tacos. Food was good quality and served fast. I love oysters and was so excited to chance upon Drayton Harbor Oyster Company on a Saturday morning. They do not open until 12 noon, but let us grab a seat a few minutes before. Within 15-20 minutes after opening the whole restaurant was full which tells you it must be good since it is located in a small town and the other restaurants had ample seating. Service was great! The hostess took our order and offered great suggestions as well. You order your food at the counter, get a number and deliver it. The food was SO GOOD. It came out hot and fresh. We ordered a dozen grilled oysters and a few basket meals of fried oysters and fish and chips. They have tartar sauce and cocktail sauce at a station and their tartar sauce is legitimately home made. The oysters themselves were well seasoned and grilled. All the fried foods were crispy and well seasoned as well. The location is conveniently along the main street in downtown blaine, wa right before the canadian boarder. There is plenty of parking and plenty of seating if you don't mind sitting outdoors (they have heat lamps and a nice view) The price was quite reasonable at about. $15 a basket and 2.50$ and oyster which are fresh and local. Overall, would recommend a stop in. They have great oysters with the forewarning that oysters can still make you sick even with reputable companies (I did get sick, but don't regret eating here and it was likely just one oyster as no one else in my party did). read more

$2.75 per oyster. And so many flavors! My friend and I had just reentered the US from Canada and we were looking for a snack before our 2 hour drive to Seattle. We found this place on yelp and thought it looked cute, so we decided to check it out. Maybe we went at an awkward time, around 5pm, but there were hardly any other customers. It made it so easy to order at the register and get our food and drinks brought to us. The interior is cute. It's decorated to have a marine theme and they have a fireplace and a dart board. There are a few tables inside and a longer communal table. There is also some outdoor seating. There is a gorgeous view of the harbor and it was entirely an enjoyable experience. They had maybe 9 different oyster flavors to choose from. And I don't mean different kinds of oysters, I mean cooked oysters with different toppings. I love trying different flavor combinations and my friend does too so we each got one of each. There was a thai curry one, a buffalo one, a teriyaki one... each was pretty unique and it was fun trying all of them. At the end of the day, I liked the raw oyseters with the shaved ice mignonette the most. From the cooked ones I liked one of the sweet and spicy ones but I can't remember the name. Stopped by Drayton Harbor Oyster Company for the first time as a pit stop on our way to Vancouver, BC. The weather was great and the ambiance was really nice with the music festival occurring so we got to sit outside and enjoy live music! You order up front, take a number, and they'll deliver the food to your table. Unfortunately the raw oysters were not available (water was too warm) but we got to enjoy the Whiskey Crab soup, Grilled Romaine with Seared Shrimp, and Grilled Oysters - Bacon & Bleu, Coconut Curry, and Savory. A great place to get oysters in Blaine! This was my second time stopped here. We always get a dozen grilled oysters and some other stuff. This time we got the oysters, the fish basket and crab chowder. It was delicious. My favorite sauce for the oysters is the Thai curry! Highly recommend. The fish and chips basket, the fish was fried beautifully, no extra batter and nice and Crispy. The fries were also cooked well. I can't recommend this place enought for fresh oysters! Ran up here on an impromptu trip to see the border and grab some oysters. It was basically dead on a Friday afternoon -- both the town and Drayton Harbor Oyster Company. This is to be expected on a seaside town on a rainy, cold November day. We brought our dog and sat in the outdoor tented seating area. The only bummer was the tent was half open and they didn't have any heaters. The oysters are enormous and unbelievably fresh. Everything we hoped for! The mignonette slush was tangy, which was perfect for the flavor of the oysters. $30 for a dozen is a steal for these bohemoths. We'll be back again to try more of their food soon! read more

We got a dozen raw oysters and I tried a few grilled oysters: the savory, the sweet & Smokey, and the coconut curry. Omg, they were all sooo good. But the curry was my favorite. I could've ordered 5 more of those. Lots of outdoor patio seating and they allow dogs outside, which was great for us and our pup. The grilled oysters came out quickly, but it took a while for the raw. I'd gone back inside to get another round of bubbly, which took a long time due to a lin. The raw oysters came while I was getting drinks and it was so hot outside, the iced mignonette melted almost immediately. So that was a bummer. But the oysters themselves were great. I came here during the apt-ly named Oysterfest, and this place has it all... and by it, I mean awesome oysters. I am preferential to cooked seafood, so I took advantage of their grilled oysters and tried simple (lemon, olive oil, salt, pepper), savory (garlic butter, cheese, white wine) and by far the star of the show... sweet & smokey (chipotle, brown sugar, bourbon). At a normal going rate of $2.50/oyster, which I felt was reasonable, this place can't be beat especially with the beautiful views of the water from the restaurant porch. Even during the busy Oysterfest, the folks staffing the place kept it calm and collected, adding in some bread with each order so I could sop up the delicious oyster sauces and savor the taste. I would mark this place as a must for anyone that wants their taste buds to be wowed, and you are not only supporting a local business but also an oyster farm. The indoor seating is easily twice as large, and there is now a large covered outdoor area as well. The interior has the sea theme, and they still the nice rustic look. Prices have gone up, but so has everything in life. Staff are very professional. The 3 oysters I had were quite tasty and fresh. Served with some mini lemon slices, and a piece fo bread. C introduced this place to me. Please note that they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. In the summer time, their hours of operations changes. Anyways Drayton is located 5 mins from the boarder. They have their own oyster farm and all their oysters served are fresh. The restaurant itself is very small with a few seats. They have an outdoor space. I got their oyster stew and three different grilled oysters to try: sweet and smoky, simple and the bacon & bleu cheese. Unfortunately their raw oysters were sold out when we arrived. The oysters are $2.75 each and the stew was $8. The stew was a very generous portion size for the price. Everything was very tasty and delicious. I was told that their menu has expanded after moving to their current location. They used to be next door where the restaurant was very narrow with no indoor seating. Love this place so much!! The location is super convenient coming from Vancouver. It's just right across the border and has a beautiful view of the ocean. The oysters were really big and super fresh. There were also just so many different flavouring options to choose from. Plus, there were raw oysters, grilled oysters, and fried oysters. Anything oyster related is there and so delicious. The place is very casual. We ordered at the front and seated ourselves. The place is also self bus for clearing the plates after the meal. They have a very well organized cleaning area to sort of oyster shells, other garbage, and plates. Customers order their food at the counter and are given a number, and the servers bring out the food after about 15 minutes. We liked their fried oyster but the oyster chowder tasted just mediocre.
