Weekend brunch here is a pretty good deal, including Spanish roast pig & roast beef for just $49 (the price has stayed the same since at least 2020 though they've lost the oyster bar & maybe other things). They get 4.5 stars. Most food items were pretty good. House seafood & chicken paella was decent (mushroom truffle paella was better). Chicken & duck stew were quite overcooked & did not have much flavour though. There were also a few brunch staples, so it's not just Spanish food. They like truffle oil here & a few dishes have it, but it's subtle. The 3 dips were very good, even if they were more Middle Eastern.3 cheese selection & charcuterie were good, The bread (both in the pinxtos & loose) was a bit stale & dry. The bread basket had a demi baguette with no cutting implement or place to cut it. Desserts were the weakest part of the meal. Churros were very hard: fried to a crisp, though they tasted ok. Carrot cake was very dry & red velvet cupcakes were quite dry. Came here over the weekend to celebrate my mother's birthday. Guests were 4 adults and 3 kids. Place was surprisingly not that busy especially on a Saturday night when that parking lot always gets so full. Place was nicely decorated and clean. Kids liked the little led lamps on the table. They really help with reading in the dim lit place (for the ambiance). But yes not that many tables taken and restaurant is fairly big. Could be the price point which is a bit on the higher side. But let's talk about the food. Had a really great meal here. For the items I remember the price will include. Let's get to it. Started with some bread ($8). It's a bit bigger than a muffin but splits into 4. Comes with some whipped truffle butter. Was small so we had to order 2. We ordered 2 plates of potatoes ($12?). Which kind of resembles the breakfast potatoes (home fries) you get at breakfast spots but elevated , seasoned well and a nice red sauce base and a white sauce top. We ordered some mussels. This dish was a bit confusing. Taste wise it was good, and the server did warn us. So they take the mussel on a half shell, remove the mussel mix it with some stuff and put it back on the shell, then batter and fry it. By the time it's fried you don't know which side the shell is on so you need to bite into it slowly . We ordered the chick which is pretty small portion wise (2 small thighs) and will run you about $30. Delicious sauce and very juicy. We ordered a pork chop ($48) , not sure if the pink would scare you , but it was delicious and was quite tasty I found. The mushrooms $18)was a real winner for me. Beautifully presented and an amazing burst of flavour. Served with a raw egg in the middle for dipping and seasoned well. I could have just ate the mushrooms so delicious. Next came the seafood platter. Shrimp, squid rings and octopus. Char on the octopus was amazing. The kids surprisingly kept asking for more. Shrimps were a good size and quite tasty. Then of course the seafood paella $95) came. We ordered a large and it is quite filling. There is a smaller one I think around $50. Flavor was good, portion of seafood was very good. It was a work of art. The rice was nicely seasoned and everything tasted really good. We ordered some Churros for dessert (2 PC's for $12). It comes with a chocolate sauce that the kids wanted to drink, it was tasty and dipping the churro in it was great. We asked the server if they do anything for birthdays. She told me they have cheese cake so we shared a piece of that too... Delicious.. not sure if it was a problem or miscommunication, but thought it was going to be complimentary for birthdays, or what I was less to believe. We visited on a Monday night. Our server greeted us promptly and seated us in a timely manner. We ordered a variety of items to share: bone marrow, mushroom croquetas, paprika garlic shrimp, and paella de mariscos. The bone marrow was roasted well, and the sourdough was grilled perfectly. If the condiments for the marrow were easier to scoop with a spoon and not placed on the side of the plate, the experience might have been even better. The mushroom croquetas were as expected with a truffle cheese sauce filling, nothing special about it. The shrimp was overcooked and became tough, especially given its size, although the flavor was decent. For the paella, it's best to order as soon as you sit down since it takes at least 30 minutes to prepare. It's a good portion size for sharing, and the flavors were tasty. I would have preferred if the seafood on top wasn't overcooked, as it was a bit chewy. We finished with churros for dessert, served with a side of dulce de leche. We went to Talagria for the Father's Day weekend brunch. Let's start with the great. Well, nothing. The good. There was an ok variety of food items. The had roasted pork, a roast beef, 2 kinds of paella (seafood, truffle mushroom), garlic shrimp, asparagus, potatoes, a few salads, some dips, eggs, bacon, breads, fruit, a selection of pastries and several other dishes. It was good selection. The problem is that they could not refill the popular dishes fast enough. They sat empty for a while. The bad. The table we sat at was simply too close to the table behind us. There was simply too little room for customers/waiters to walk by - and they did walk by as it's a buffet. But, they kept bumping in to us, asking us to move, and overall, it was just unpleasant. Getting the food is equally as bad. The restaurant was not built or designed for a buffet. So, it comes down to the customers being patient and obedient and just following simple (common sense) rules. That didn't happen several times with several "pushy" customers and were too impatient. Finally, was the $70 per person justified (it's normally $50). Hell, no. I knew what it would cost going in, although I booked 3 weeks in advance (thinking $50) and got a phone call 2 weeks before to warn me it was jumping to $70 due to Father's Day and was I ok with it. This is probably one of the worst meals I've had this year. First off, my friends had been here the year before and loved it. So I joined them for dinner this year. A few good things - the restaurant is very lovely- large space, beautifully designed, open kitchen to see the cooks, and the staff were lovely! But the food, oh man. First, if you want to order paella, do so right away as they tell you it takes 40minutes. That way once you're done with apps and chatting with your friends, it will be done Ok - food wise, we ordered a bunch of apps and the mushroom paella (there was a vegetarian in the group). - the beet & ricotta app/bread. This was tiny - like half a beet chopped up, with a fig, and a few dollops of ricotta that had limited taste - the salmon tartare (probably the best app) had salmon, a few capers, and razor thin chips - patatas bravas - a potato dish. Meh. At least the potatoes were crispy. - the mushroom paella- no taste lol. I had one scoop and honestly that was enough for me. There was plenty leftover. This used to be our go to place for Spanish food, then it became so expensive and paella is getting soggy and average taste. The paella is supposed to be crispy at the bottom, but they don't have that burning crispy feel any more. All the tapas are small volume, finish in bites, expensive at the same time, although they are quite tasty. Our server was a very nice lady with smiles all the time. It's my first time to try Spanish food. High ceiling when we stepped in. The host was nice to seat us. We arrived around 6:45pm on Tuesday night. It was not busy for the first whole night. I guessed it was weekdays. The entire restaurant, one waitress and one buser. It's an high end restaurant. I would recommend for friends that like to chat and drink. Quiet and nice. Also, they have quite amount of appetizers to share. We had the Beef Empanadas and Paella De Tapagria. All of them were signatures of Spanish food. Beef Empanadas was like a beef tart and Paella De Tapagria was like a seafood rice. Beef Empanadas was good, but not as saucey as the tart; seafood rice was a bit salty, the pan was big and hot, but not much as seafood pieces as I expected. This place is a hidden gem tucked away in a regular plaza. Inside is spacious with a cozy, rustic look. Beef Empanadas and Mushroom Croquetas tasted good. The croquetas had a nice truffle flavour. Jamon Wrapped Dates were delicious. The salty ham and sweet dates made a tasty combo. Calamari Frito and Pan Con Tomate with Anchovies were decent. The anchovies were a bit small though. Paella de Tapagría was pretty tasty. It had lots of seafood and meat on top, and the rice was soaked in flavorful gravy. Churros were quite crispy and not greasy, though would have been nicer to pair with chocolate sauce than dulce de leche. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Came here for Valentine's dinner. The ambience and energy of this place is fantastic- if you like noise and an open kitchen. Service is great and efficient, with the plates coming out quickly. We ordered 6 dishes but for us the standout dishes were the beets and ricotta tapas, and bacon wrapped dates. They were great bites. My parents held their anniversary dinner here recently and asked us to partake w/ them. We were sat in a booth near the entrance so it was kinda chilly everytime someone opened the door haha. Service was quite good from our waitress (I forgot her name)! Lychee & tropical sangrias: My bro got a lychee sangria. I tried the tropical one. I think the lychee sangria was more unique. The tropical sangria was too familiar of a citrus juice kinda taste. Truffled beef sliders: You get 3 in 1 order. The meat was juicy but I do wish they patties were larger in diameter. The buns were toasted but they were much larger than the patties so you end up w/ bites of bare bread. I think if they increased the size of the patties to get meat in every bite these would be fantastic. Mushroom croquetas: For a veggie dish these were quite tasty! The outside was very crispy and the inside had an almost risotto texture inside. I thought it would taste very potatoey but the flavour of mushrooms permeated the inside all the way through. It tasted like cream of mushroom soup. Beef empanadas: These were good but BEWARE you only get 2 per order. So at a $10 price point, I would say this dish is a rip off ($5 for ONE empanada??). Prolly would not order these again even though the beef inside was rich. Broccolini + romesco: I actually quite liked this dish. Broccolini is somewhat of an acquired taste. It has the bitter aftertaste of an asparagus but the bulbs of broccoli. I think the seasoning was on point and the bitterness was offset by the acid of from the romesco sauce. Half grilled octopus: UBER tender octopus tentacles. Presentation-wise there's no doubt this is a showstopper. The tentacles were a lil bit too charred for my mom's taste but I liked that blackened taste off the grill. Roasted bone marrow: Cool to try once and snap photos but honestly not worth the $19 price tag. It's not even a full marrow. It's like one half of a bone. If I return I most likely won't order this again. Miso cabbage + iberico: I was ok w/ this dish as I can eat spicy but it was probably the least liked dish by everyone. The miso was very strong and clashed w/ the strong flavour of the iberico. Add the spiciness into the mix and you just have a very strong tasting dish without much balance to cut back on the richness. Paella de carne asada & paella de mariscos: We ordered 2 paellas. The one w/ all the meats and the one w/ all the seafood. I think we unanimously liked the seafood one more. I think cooking all the seafood w/ the rice let the seafood juices permeate through the rice so it was extra umami. The steak was slightly overcooked in the meat paella as well. Churros: For dessert, we ordered churros. You get 4 in one order and it comes w/ what looked like dulce de leche. The churros themselves were perfection but the dulce de leche was too liquidy in consistency imo. It should've been much thicker. It was also lacking that "oomph" and was too mild in flavour. Final thoughts: At almost $500 (for 5 ppl), I think it was definitely overpriced for the portions you get. Sangria, paella, croquettas, octopus and broccolini are must tries. Would only come back for a special occasion but not on a regular basis. It's way too expensive to dine here regularly. Visited on a week night for a celebration, the atmosphere was on the quieter side with a few larger groups dining early. The staff are friendly and attentive with the host offering to store our coats. The paella was excellent, perfectly done with a great variety of protein ( seafood, sausages and chicken). The sangria was flavourful without the sweetness. The octopus legs were a bit of a chewy texture but the pork and harissa sauce pairing was ideal. It is a nice restaurant with a good vibe for celebrations or getting together with friends, families, and loved ones. It's for Mother's Day celebration this time and we've made a good choice! The staff greeted us upon arrival and was prompt with our reservation. Good service throughout the dinner as well. Highlight was the Spanish Paella Negra. Great presentation. Simply delicious! The black iconic color came from squid ink, a natural food coloring used in Spain for centuries. Toppings include prawn, octopus, and squid. Good texture with a decent seafood taste. The portion was big enough for 4 adults to share. It's a satisfying Spanish dish. Be mindful that it comes with a hefty price tag! The Jamón Wrapped Dates was surprisingly good! The sweetness from the glaze, paired up very well with the Serrano ham flavor. Way better than a lot of bacon-wrapped to-go appetizers I had before. It is certainly one of the most satisfying tapas dishes you can imagine! Seared Foie Gras was also pretty nice. So rich, so smooth, even after the good searing. With truffle spread in the middle and crispy toasted brioche at the bottom, it's absolutely fabulous. It is expensive given its size. However, consider the texture and the satisfaction level it brings you, absolutely worth it. A hot tapas dish beautifully made. Calamari Frito was kinda... okay-ish... Should have skipped it. The 10oz Angus Ribeye looked good and was nicely grilled with a good charcoal aroma. But too bad the steak quality was only so-so. It's a bit chewy. Honestly, you can skip these two dishes on your next visit. Double-shot the foie gras instead, as an example, LOL. Drinks from the bar were so-so. We ordered a Lychee Sangria and a Tropical Sangria.... meh. I would suggest ordering something else. Just a regular beer or wine would be a good choice here. A little bummer. All in all, it's a nice restaurant that comes with a good package of cool vibes, great food, and good service. You got to be selective though. It was an expensive dinner. Worth it or not? I was really craving for Paella yesterday and almost forgot about this Spanish restaurant in Markham. My all time fav spanish restaurant is Patria downtown but it appears to be temporarily closed so decided to give Tapagria another try since it has been a few years since we last came here. Our experience last night was really good and it might have something to do with the fact that we went all out. We were celebrating a special occasion so we didn't hold back in ordering. For 3 of us, we probably did ordered too much especially the Paella which was enough for 6 people. I think you can guess what we'll be eating tonight! We also got a few tapas and we really liked the beef tartare and the mushroom croquettes. The croquettes are definitely a must try item! We also got the Kale Winter Salad, Brussel Sprouts and grilled Seabass which were also nicely done. At this point we were so stuffed! One of the best Spanish restaurants in the Markham area. Over the past several years I visited this place many times. I would say that this restaurant has gotten better over the years. Some of the items that I would highly recommend. The shrimp dish and the bone marrow are my two favorite items on the menu. The Spanish wines are also very nice. I tried the new Laya that they had on the menu. Was very good and highly recommended if you like deep wines. Over the years, I've end up going to Tapagria every few months. Every single time, I look forward to the meal I'm about to have. So it's time to upgrade that 4 star to a 5 star because slowly, but surely, Tapagria has snuck itself into my selection of favourite restaurants in Markham. In the last few years, I've seen a few notable improvements like how their paella have gotten more flavourful and developed better texture. Despite this, nothing else has taken the hit for it. The regular favourites are still served up deliciously. The service continues to be attentive and quick. And the Sangrias continue to be delightful. So what are these regular favourites: decadent Hand-Carved Iberico, Bone Marrow the size of your arm, Mushroom Croquettas with excellent texture, and super crispy Pork Belly. They've recently implemented Set Menus as well and that got me to try new menu items that were just as tasty. The Set for 6 left all of us stuffed. Highlights included the bread topped with a mini mountain of Foie Gras Pate, a savoury Charcuterie board, and the 2 paellas: Carne Asada (which came with really tasty grilled steak) and Mariscos (topped with a whole lobster). Tapagria has been a consistently wonderful choice for those nights that call for a classy dinner with unique food, but also casual enough to not be stuffy. I've come here for dates, with family and friends, and even to take out-of-towners looking for something new. I've enjoyed every visit here and I look forward to every one to come. read more

Easily 4.5, rounding up to 5. Food, ambience and service were all top notch. I met a fellow YES friend for dinner back in September (2021) and it did not disappoint. She made our reservation for us for a Saturday evening. There is a decent amount of private parking, although you need to be aware of which entrance off Leslie to use to get in and to the right unit as there are quite a few units in the plaza. We chose to dine outside as it was still warm and beautiful outdoors. The outdoor area is well spaced between tables and tented, but open air so it didn't feel like being in a plastic bubble. Our server was very friendly and capably answered our questions about the various dishes we were considering. We started with a drink order. My friend went with a lychee sangria and I went with a strawberry rose. Both were refreshing, with nice slices of fruit and chilled just right. We ordered several tapas items to start: baked beef empanadas; mushroom croquetas; and crispy pork belly. All were served in a timely manner and none disappointed. They looked appetizing and were satisfyingly delicious. The mushroom croquetas had a sauce that looked like it should have been an aioli, but it tasted more like plain mayonnaise and not very garlicky at all. The empanadas had a richly flavoured filling and a nicely textured pastry, not too dry or too thick. The pork belly was indeed crispy and, well, how can you go wrong there lol! We also decided to order a full paella de tapagria. It came out quickly enough and looked huge; however, we did realize fairly quickly that the look of the portion size is deceiving as the layer of rice was rather shallow, and we suspect that also resulted in it not staying very hot for long. Perhaps they might consider serving it with a chafing candle/dish. It was otherwise yummy and had a decent amount of the assorted proteins. I would love to come back for a sit-inside experience because the interior is beautiful, and isn't too brightly lit, so it feels cozy. I also liked that the spacing inside between tables didn't look crowded. Not sure if that's just COVID era measure but frankly I prefer not to feel crowded to other tables no matter the circumstances. Even the bathrooms were high class. It's like an event venue where they provide odds and ends like mouthwash and other extras should you need them. I definitely appreciated seeing them available. If you want to splurge a bit and aren't expecting 100% authenticity, this is a great place to get together with friends or associates in a hip but not formal atmosphere, or enjoy a date where you can pick and choose a few items to sample for variety's sake. If I could do a short review, it would be the following: Go! Bring your wallet and friends for a special food experience. Okay, I'm done. Nah, it's still me. I haven't had my personality altered this weekend. My friend and I hadn't seen each other in two years. We first talked about having coffee. It then became tapas and dinner. We both looked for a place to meet and we ended up with Tapagria individually. It's one reason why we are friends. We met on a Saturday night. I had made a reservation for us on OpenTable. It was nice that we could specify dining either indoors or outdoors. We chose the latter. We are both punctual people. We also live in York region (Woodbridge for her and Markham for me). I am normally good driving any distance to get anywhere. It was such a short jaunt to Richmond Hill that it was weird practically blinking and getting here. We met each other in the parking lot and walked in. You do need to head inside the restaurant to get seated at the patio. The interior is gorgeous, from the bar area, to the lighting. We were greeted by a nice woman who found our reservation. She then aimed a laser thermometer at our wrists. We were good. We were led to a table outside on a patio with fake grass. There is a QR code that you use to scan the menu. QR codes as of late are misses with my phone. I have no idea why it doesn't work for me, but I ended up going on Tapagria's site to pull up the menu. My friend doesn't have data on her phone and there's no wifi here, so that could be an issue if you want to take a break from technology here. We are extremely similar in our food choices that selecting what we wanted was effortless. We ordered the following items: - Strawberry red sangria (my friend) - Lychee white sangria (me) - Mushroom croquettas - Baked beef empanadas - Crispy pork belly - Paella de Tapagria - Flan It does get pricy eating here, so bring your credit card with the big limit or debit card that has a decent balance. The Paella de Tapgria was $56 and requires 45 minutes to prepare. We were making up for lost time that we didn't even notice the 45 minutes! We loved our sangria. I asked whether this place has red or white sangria, and it makes those plus rosé. Highly impressive! My sangria wasn't overly sweet. The lychee provided the natural sweetness to the drink. It was refreshing with the cucumber slices and mint. She got mint and strawberry slices in hers, which she called treasures. I hadn't had tapas for eons. I got into them when I lived in Winnipeg, and are perfect for sampling and sharing. We dug into the mushroom croquettas first. Our server said that either the aioli would be garlicky or lemony. We figured that we got the lemon because we did not gross ourselves out with each other's breath. The croquettas were crunchy with a creamy mushroom texture inside. Yum! The crispy pork belly was fantastic. The pork skin was indeed crispy. The natural fat was flavourful, along with the seasoning on the tender pork belly. Delicious! I could eat pork belly all day because pork anything with fat rules. The baked empanadas looked typical when you first set your eyes on them. Crack one open and you realize that it's special. You get cubed beef as if it were a steak pie. The filling was full of beef flavour. The crust was light and flaky. Delicious and delightful! The paella de Tapagria came out on its own stand on a shallow metal dish. It looked fantastic. You get a lot of food! The paella had shrimp, chicken, clams, chorizo, and squid. They were generous in size. We had a little bit of everything. It was so good. The rice was fluffy. The entire dish was flavourful. The seafood was cooked perfectly, as was the chicken chunks. Not rubbery. Not undercooked. Perfect. We caught up and talked so much that our next helping of paella became cold. My friend made a decent suggestion to have a warming plate or some heating mechanism under the dish to keep it warm. We had so much food that I ended up taking some home for lunch the following day. I ordered flan for dessert. My friend had some, along with a few slices of fruit, because I needed help eating it. The flan was the least carby dessert out of the batch. It was so smooth and creamy. It was fantastic! We ended up splitting the bill, with my taking the flan. It's not a cheap dining experience, but it's perfect to indulge in good food and a great, special experience. We booked for Christmas Day at 6:30. The hostess seated us at the back of the restaurant in a room with no windows and white walls. The server said they were fully booked and we couldn't get seating in the front of the restaurant. Our server did have a bit of a problem understanding us. We ordered beef empanadas $10. There were 2 and they were delicious. The mushroom croquettes came with 3 and she asked if we wanted a 4th one. They charged $4 for an additional one. They were delicious. I liked the jamon bacon wraps $12. You get 4. The kale salad is enough for 2 and the dressing is very tangy. The sherry honey pork ribs came 4 pieces $28. I give them a 3 1/2 out of 5. First time trying tapas - made a reservation for lunch on a Saturday. There were plenty of tables available when we walked in. We ordered tres pinxto, roasted bone marrow, and paella tapagria. Tres pinxto came with three pieces of toast with figs and foie gras. The roasted bone marrow also came with four small pieces of bread to dip the marrow. Both were quite heavier dishes but tasted decent. As for the paella tapagria, this took about 30 minutes for them to cook. It was like a tomato fried rice with mussels, chicken, shrimp and squid. It was massive dish! There was a bit of a bitter aftertaste, which I think could be from the tomato or rice overcooked at the bottom. But we had plenty of leftovers. This was a unique experience, though not sure I'm the biggest fan of tapas yet. read more

We've tried this restaurant three times so far. Once for takeout and twice for dine in. All experiences were wonderful, and I would recommend this as one of the more solid Spanish tapas restaurants in Richmond Hill. Here's a list of dishes that I would recommend: Scallops kiwi carpaccio - very light and refreshing despite scallops is usually a heavier ingredient. Perfect for the summer. [Note they may have removed this item from the menu] Charcuterie and cheese platter - an excellent sampler of the various cheeses and hams from Spain. Great for sharing for 3 people or more. Beef empanadas - flakey on the outside, juicy on the inside. Paella de tapagria - their house special paella, served on a hot skillet. Lots of chorizo and great for sharing. Fried seabass - it's a whole fish! The ambiance can be a bit loud but it suits the kind of food you're getting - an atmosphere where your sharing good food with good people. read more

Tapagria hits all the notes of what makes a restaurant deserves 5 Yelp stars: super delicious Spanish & Mediterranean food, classy and modern ambiance, awesome and professional customer service. The restaurant has an open-concept kitchen that seems clean, organized, and well-run. The interior is quite large and feels spacious. There is also a patio at the front for summer months. If you plan on holding a special event, party, or large group gathering, they have private rooms that you can book in advance. The portion sizes of the tapas are bigger than the tapas found in most other Spanish restaurants. They also have a good selection of cocktails and drinks. Sherry Garlic Mussels - Although the mussels are smaller than the ones found in hot pot or other restaurants, they're more flavourful and herbacious (probably because of the garlic). The tomato broth isn't as thick or pasty as some of the other mussels I've had in other places, but I like these ones more. Grilled Octopus - Probably one of the best grilled octopus I've had. Crispy and nicely charred on the outside, very tender inside, and perfectly seasoned. It comes with some dollops of white and orange sauces (that are delicious) and a little bit of green sprouts. Whole Mediterranean Seabass - You get the whole fish (head, tail, and bones). The fish meat is soft and well done. The skin is charred, making it nice and crispy. The green sauce they put on top and below the fish is heavenly - garlic infused and very flavourful. It's served with a few pieces of charred cauliflower and thin eggplant slices (that are either grilled or pan-seared), which should be a dish offering (just the cauliflower and eggplant) on its own! The charred cauliflower is SOOO good... too bad there are only 2 small pieces of it on the plate. Kale & Cauliflower Salad - Great fresh salad with lots of kale and less cauliflower. It also contains sun-dried tomatoes, pickled red onion, and cranberries, then topped with shaved parmesan. The dressing might be some sort of vinaigrette. Mushrooms & Truffle Paella (with foraged mushrooms, truffle paste, truffle oil) - Flavourful, packed with different kinds of mushrooms (including king oyster mushrooms), with soft tender rice that is well cooked. Portion size is quite big and perfect for sharing. Cooking time is about 25-35 minutes. Great vegetarian paella option. read more

On a mission to find some yummy non-Asian eats in Markham. Tapagria's been around for a while and I've heard lots of mixed reviews but I had to try it out for myself. Foie Gras Pate & Salmon Tartare Pinxto's: These were essentially different toppings on un-toasted baguettes. I enjoyed the foie gras, but the salmon was lacking a bit of flavor. I wish the baguette slices were toasted Chorizo: This honestly tasted worse than store bought chorizo. The quality of meat was low, and the mustard and figs weren't a good pair with the chorizo Roasted Bone Marrow: Glad they toasted the bread on this one. The bone marrow had just the right amount of flavour and quite tasty, however the bone itself was cut very strangely and there was minimal amounts of bone marrow. Jamon Wrapped Dates: This was delicious! I usually don't love dates but this worked well together. The salty/richness of the jamon and the sweetness of the dates were a perfect pair Paella Carne Asada: I had high hopes for this but I felt the rice was quite dry. The steak was definitely overcooked (they didn't ask how we wanted it done) and the amount of rice/meat for $72 was too little (the pan is very shallow) Honestly at first I didn't think it was a terrible experience and that I might give it another try but looking closely at each dish and evaluating the taste, I've changed my mind read more

As douchey as this sounds before I begin this review, I'd like to disclaimer that I've been to Spain and indulged in many tapas while there on vacation for two weeks, but I hope this gives my review a bit more credibility. This place was amazing! I came here for my farewell lunch with my colleagues in February. I've always wanted to try the food here ever since I got to try a sample at the Yelp's Night at the Museum Tapagria tent. This place did not disappoint!!! As you can tell from my photos we ordered a lot of things. I was a huge fan of the Sherry mussels, the mushroom croquettes were to die for, the porkbelly was so crispy and juicy, and the calamari was just okay. I shared a paella and it is served in a pan. It was delicious and tasted like one I had in Barcelona. The paella was also comparable to the one downtown at my favourite restaurant Patria. We also ordered many desserts such as the churros, creme brulee, but what got me was that toast! Omg! I can't even begin to describe how delicious that was. I've never had anything like it. Great dessert. Would go back again just to have that again. Overall, a pricier place considering it's in Markham but they're charging like it's downtown Toronto but I think the food was delicious. Wonderful Spanish-style tapas restaurant! Every dish we ordered was very tasty and quite decadent in some aspects. All the dishes have a nice unique quirk to them, or a very rich flavour. I can't tell if it was just our choices, but many of the dishes are quite fat or oil-heavy, which really gives it that decadence. The bone marrow was definitely quite an interesting item! It realistically kind of tastes like jelly fat (but in a good way?), with no particular flavour that I can really say. Their staff is also lovely! I've seen some good reviews about this place from yelp friends, and decided to give it a try for a special occasion. We called in ahead to order for second day pick-up, the portion recommended by the staff turned out to be just enough for the event and a bit less than we expected. The food was quite yummy for majority of the dishes, and we were all quite happy to enjoy the varieties of tapas. Overall it was a 4.5-star experience. The food we ordered includes: - Hamachi crudo: The freshness level met my requirement for a Spanish tapa place. The sauce was really refreshing, which highlighted the flavour of the fish. - Truffle spread and manchego: This was one of my favorite dishes here. The cracker was larger than what I expected. The truffle spread truely brought in an amazing scent to the dish. - Fois Gras pate: Again, one of my favorite. The pate was really smooth and they put a generous thick layer on top of the cracker. - Marinated squid: I didn't like this as much as the Fois Gras and the truffle dishes. The flavouring was a bit off which overpowered the flavour of the squid itself. - Bacon wrapped dates: Interesting salty and sweet flavour combination, missing a wow factor. - Mushroom croquettes: We fought for it. It was really yummy. - Chorizo with veggies: It was not my cup of tea. The chorizo was a bit hard to dig. The veggie was a bit overcooked. - Beef empanads: It was quite flavourful. I could tell the beef tasted very fresh. - Paella de Tapagria: I really liked that it was not as salty as how other Spanish restaurants cook Paella. I could clearly taste the original flavour of the chicken, the mussels and the shrimp. The portion was not big. Tapagria has been around for some time now. Been here for drinks once but never for food. Finally got to eat some of their food with a friend. The place is called Tapagria for a reason, I'm assuming Tapas and Sangria. I read that somewhere - me thinks! So what to drink? White and red sangria of course! The Lychee Sangria was delicious. Other foods were Beef Empanada, Spanish Fries, Calamari Fritto, Jamon Rolled Dates, and Pork Belly Tapas. The empanada crust was prepared perfectly, however, I found the fillings a bit bland. Maybe I was affected by the over saltiness of the fries. Nonetheless, the best dish was a split between dates and the pork belly. For me, it was the pork belly - hands down! The calamari got lost in the mix. Tapagria is a very large restaurant with high ceilings and unique lighting. They even has spacious private rooms at the back of the place. Yes, even a private patio that I could not see from the outside parking lot. Seating has not been an issue. Tapagria strong 4 stars. My main drawback is that by the time you order up the Tapas, the meal can get expensive. Ordered from their take-out menu with an extra 10% off (due to quarantine times) and was pretty satisfied with everything I got to try! They even threw in a free charcuterie appetizer on the house. My absolute favourite dish was their Jambon dates, that sweet & savoury combo can't be beat. Otherwise I also enjoyed their crispy pork belly, mushroom croquette, & razor clam squid ink ceviche. For the Pintxos ($3-4 each) it was fun sharing a few of them with a friend. While waiting the 45 minutes for a paella, it's important to get a few small bites to tide the stomach over. The truffle paste and Manchego pintxos ($12) was a strongly flavoured bite with the truffle dominating against the delicate toast and the buttery cheese binding things together. It's tasty but given its powerful flavour is best eaten last amongst the sandwiches. Surprisingly, for something that's cooked in fat the duck confit pintxos ($14) were a little dry. Tapagria puts a dollop of mango chutney on top - a nice pairing with the fowl - but there wasn't much of the condiment, so it didn't really hydrate or flavour much. Perhaps a drizzle along with a condensed red wine reduction would help to give this pintxo some pizazz. I enjoyed the nice creamy texture of the jamon croquettas ($12) but found the varying pieces of ham mixed in them confusing - one bite included diced pieces, so it was almost like having a croquette with sweeter chorizo, while another had pulled pieces. Truthfully, I was expecting slivers of thinly sliced jamon to be ribboned amongst the silky potatoes. Nonetheless, the dish's flavours were on point. Still, the paella de Tapagria ($56) was the star of the show. It's a creation that can't be rushed as you want to let it sit until there's a bit of a crust on the bottom. While it wasn't covered with a lot of ingredients, there was enough shrimp, squid, clams, chorizo, and chicken to go with the shallow flavourful rice. Some reviews claim it's too salty, but I found it be seasoned nicely and like the hint of chili that makes an appearance. The caramel flan ($12) was very thick, possibly from the Spanish recipe incorporating condensed milk compared to the whole milk that's used in French crème caramel. It feels like you're eating a cheesecake (without the cheese flavours) that's covered in a thinned caramel sauce. While not necessarily terrible, I do prefer the delicate crème caramel consistency and will stick with the churros or Spanish toast next time. read more

Brought 2 friends here last Saturday to celebrate and was pleasantly surprised by the extended patio seating area that now allows for more guests to enjoy their meals outside under tents decorated with string lights hanging and turf for a more comfortable and pleasant aesthetic. We ordered mostly cold and hot tapas that were perfect for sharing. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend for anyone who has never tried Spanish tapas or have been to this restaurant. If you're looking for some good eats and casual drinks then this is the place for you. The inside decor has a classy yet hip vibe to it. A good place to have a casual meal shared with friends or business associates. Just a warning for anyone who hasn't had tapas before. It's small sharing plates, so if you're looking to stuff yourself on a budget, this probably isn't the restaurant for you. We ordered quite a few items but actually opted out of the paella this time. We were forewarned that paella takes 35-45 minutes from the time of ordering. Not a factor in our ordering decision but something useful to know. Our server was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the menu, gave us recommendations, and was even cracking a few jokes. Water was constantly kept full, and we were well taken care of. In regards to the food, I would say majority of the items are good, some are exceptional, but others are a little lacklustre. We tried 3 of the pintxos (appetizers on toast). We had fig and cheese, grilled octopus, and tuna tartare. Out of the three the fig and cheese was my favourite. It was a nice balance of salty and sweet. The tuna tartare was also quite good. Plenty of flavour with a creamy sauce and superb texture. The octopus however was fairly lacking by comparison. There wasn't much tomato flavour and the octopus was a little on the dry side. Perhaps this was done intentionally, but I would have really enjoyed these more if the bread was toasted, or had a nice hardy crust. The salmon carpaccio good, but to be honest quite comparable to any other restaurant's. The steak tartare had a nice twist with a quail egg instead of a chicken egg. I love steak tartare but to be honest this one kind of missed the mark for me. It had the perfect texture, however the taste seemed a little bland. It definitely could have used a little salt and pepper, or more acidity to cut the richness of the beef. If you could only get two items on the menu, definitely get the jamon wrapped dates and the jamon croquette. It's hard to describe how good these were. The jamon wrapped dates had the perfect blend of salty and sweet. The texture of the dates with that nice roasted bacon is a flavour bomb in your mouth. The croquette was also outstanding. The outside is a nice crispy potato shell, and when you bite into it, there's a perfect blend of soft mashed potatoes, creamy and savoury sauce, and a nice salty piece of jamon. The ceviche is exactly what you would expect from a good ceviche. Plenty of acidity with some delicate and plump seafood. The crispy pork belly was good, but i wouldn't go out of my way to have it again. It wasn't as crispy as I had anticipated, and some parts were more dry than crispy. I also felt that the sauce kind of took away from the flavour of the pork. The sherry mussels are exactly what you would expect in a good mussel dish. But the real selling point is the sauce that it comes in. That sauce is so good yet so hard to describe. Unfortunately the only thing I can say about it is Smokey. It's as if they took a twice reduced tomato purée and added pure smoke. It's just something you'll have to try for yourself. In fact, the sauce was so good, we asked for extra bread to dip the rest of it. Overall a more than pleasant experience with great service. Food: The dishes are hit and miss but mostly a good dining experience. I would highly recommend to go with a group of friends so you can order multiple tapas and try a little bit of everything. The flavors are rich and well balanced. Most of the toppers are saucy in the restaurant provides bread for you to soak up all the sauce. It's a great spot for drinks as well. Service: The staff is extremely attentive and checking up on you constantly. They are also very quick if you have any questions or need anything additional.
