Had a wonderful lunch with friends. I ordered the Ahi Salad with ice tea. The salad was delicious and plentiful, I brought 1/2 of it home to finish at dinner. My friend had a burger which was a large portion and looked delicious. The fries were served as a large portion and we all noshed on those The service was friendly and efficient we had a great time eating and catching up in a nice atmosphere. I ordered a to go order tonight, the urban burger with zucchini fries. I made some changes to the order, asked for a lettuce wrap instead of bread, extra pickles and dressing on the side. I also asked for a side order of ranch dressing for the fries. The burger was perfectly cook, tender and flavorful. I was disappointed it did not have extra pickles like i asked. They also forgot to include the ranch dressing. The zucchini fries were also a hit, tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. I'd say 3.5 stars for the food, but the service was exceptional, so I'm giving it 4 stars. It's a casual spot with a mix of high-top and regular tables. We had the tofu lettuce wraps, risotto, flatbread, and vegetable pasta primavera. The risotto was heavy on the fat which I guess is to be expected but had good flavor and cooked well. The pasta was a little bland (needed salt), but we appreciated all the veggies. The lettuce wraps were good. However, the filling was a bit chunky, and the lettuce pieces weren't wide enough to actually wrap. I'd prefer the filling to be less chunky. The sauces for the wraps were solid and paired well with the filling. The flatbread had roasted tomatoes and mushrooms, and again, I appreciated that they weren't stingy with the toppings. read more

Sunday evening/6:00 PM *This is the same review I posted on Google Reviews and the Open Table app. - After years of driving by, we decided to dine here, but tonight was our first and last time dining at Urban Grill and "Wine Bar." Half of the restaurant was empty. There were no more than three other tables of diners as we sat through the evening. For nearly our entire meal, nobody sat at the bar. The staff was very good overall, however, and they were the best part of our evening. The menu is outdated and as a result, DISAPPOINTING. We were greeted by the waiter who immediately told us about the three entrees that were NOT available: no Urban Burger, no Prime Ribeye, no "Catch of the Day." I tried to order one of the cocktails, the Mrs. Kennedy, listed on their current website menu but was told, "We don't have that." I then tried to order one of the non-alcoholic drinks on their physical menu but was told, "We don't have that." Later in the evening we learned that with the "new owners," several menu items have changed. Ownership changed in September, 2024. There's been time to update everything! My husband and I ordered the Prime Steak Sandwich medium-well. The meat was burnt. Charred! The mushroom glacé was not impressive. My son ordered the Dayboat Scallop Entree. He loved the risotto, but the tiny, shriveled scallops did not impress. Dessert: again the menu fell short and is not up-to-date. The desert menu still includes four or five dessert ports but NOT ONE is available. We weren't told that until we ordered dessert wines. Isn't this a "Wine Bar"? *Please note the grimy, wrinkled, cellophane-taped desert menu. Gross. There were six of us in our party. Half of us were disappointed in our meals and the other half were somewhat satisfied with meatballs, fish and chips, and pot roast. We will not be returning. Came here for date night on Valentine's Day. Our server and the rest of the staff were on point. They were very attentive and didn't miss a beat on their rounds. They did a great job handling the packed house that night. Let's get that out of the way first. Next, lets get to the 'meat n potatoes.' We both ordered the "Surf & Turf" off their 'pre-fixe' menu. Pre-fixe shouldn't mean "PREMADE." The apps (crab cakes & calamari) came out on a bed of shredded cabbage that was like an afterthought. The entree: shrimp was so rubbery and the mashed taters were almost solid as a rock that it tasted like it was made hours prior to our arrival. We both ordered our rib eye and filet medium rare and both came out medium. Their saving grace was the dessert. The cheesecake was bomb! I really wanted to like this place, I really did. However the service was horrible. We got served a dirty wine glass when we ordered a Cabernet, and the waiter seemed to be bothered when we brought it up. He got visibly upset when we brought it up. This is a wine bar and that shouldn't happen, let alone him getting upset when we asked for a clean wine glass. Then when we ordered the Thai chicken flatbread, we asked for the peanut sauce on the side, and of course didn't get the sauce on the side when the food came. So we had to ask again and wait for the sauce while the flatbread got cold. The waiter stopped by only a couple times the whole meal, and basically ran away immediately so we never got able to ask for anything we needed. This is crazy as the restaurant was not busy at all, and only had roughly 5 tables or so occupied in the whole place! We kept having to flag the waiter down, and then he would go missing again. The food was good, however the experience overall was very poor. Bummer for a place so close to home as we live nearby. read more

What a fabulous 80th birthday celebration we had. Of the. F us, many had never been here before. The menu is varied and everything we had was delicious. Probably had one of the best waiters I have ever had. ELISEO was helpful, considerate, fun to talk with, and served us impeccably. I usually take pictures of food, but I forgot tonight so you'll have to forgive me. We had a wedge salad but chopped up so we could share it. We ordered the lamb chop meal with the risotto, which was excellent, a scallop dinner, which was excellent, the fried calamari, which was very tasty and the crown of the evening was the Biscoff cheesecake. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! New ownership has negatively affected this once 5 star restaurant. I've been coming for years and have always had a great time and enjoyed the food. The atmosphere is still great with indoor and outdoor seating. However, my last few visits have been less than stellar. I gave them a break the first couple of times under new management, however now it's become a negative trend from the menu to the service. This had been my wife's and another friend's favorite spot for lemon drops, however the last time we went they salted the rim on them. We could've written that off as a simple mistake. However, when they brought back the fixes they still had a salty taste. All they did was pour the same drink into new glasses with a sugar rim. However, you cannot take the salt taste out of a sweet drink. We gave up on those and ordered other drinks. I understand liquor cost, but you can't cheat out a customer. No manager visit, no comp for the bad drinks or experience. We're regulars, I'm the Duke of this restaurant, and no manager or owner came to check on us. They weren't busy, so that's not an excuse. For the most recent meal my wife ordered a wedge salad with steak, chopped and tossed. They brought the salad out on a tiny appetizer plate with the salad falling off the edges. Did they run out of dinner plates or salad bowls!! Presentation is part of a meal. Such simple things keep a restaurant alive. We loved this place, now we don't know when, if ever, we'll be back. Awesome spot. We came here after a recommendation from a friend. We were excited to check this place out because it's so close to us. We were immediately greeted and seated right away. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered a salad, two entrees (scallops, pot roast) and some drinks! Automatically 1 star for pumping Taylor Swift radio mix on the speakers. It brought the vibes for sure. The food needed a bit more salt but the flavors were still well balanced. We really enjoyed our meals. The drinks, they were hit or miss but very close to balanced. The waitress mentioned someone was training on the drinks, so no worries. It was still enjoyable. Didn't want to waste the drinks; the balance were almost there. We were looking for a great meal and after running through some ideas, said we have not been to Urban Grill for a few months. Since I love their pork chop and my wife loves the lollipop lamb chops... off we went! I want to ask if the actual chef was in the kitchen Saturday Feb 15th at 8PM? I doubt it because I find it hard to believe that a professional chef would allow food to be served the way ours was. Lets start with the Mixed Green salad. It looked good, but something did not taste right and when we asked the waiter if we could possibly get a little extra balsamic vinaigrette dressing, he said ok and brought out ranch. WTF - ranch on that salad??? We said we wanted more balsamic and he told us that they had run out, which is why there was none on our salad - a salad that is SUPPOSED to have balsamic dressing. I am not sure what they put on. We sent it back. I ordered my favorite dish - the pork chop, which for the price you pay you expect it to be delicious. It was good, but not great. BJ's has a better pork chop on their weekend special menu which was way better. My wife got her lamb chops, medium rare. They came out a little over cooked, which sometimes you expect, but they were also chewy and had more fat than they should have. I would not even classify them as good, just average. Again for the price you pay, they should be mouth watering and awsome! On the lamb chops - if you look at the picture attached, do you see anything wrong? What they show you is NOT what you get. They show all the chops have bones, and is arranged nicely, yet only one of the four chops had the bone, which is half the fun and flavor of ordering lamb chops! Also, it looked like it was not "plated" (my son is a banquet chef and is very particular about presentation) rather heaped on the potatos... which ruins the dish before even tasting it. I read some other reviews today - which in hindsight I should have read BEFORE going there and it seems the place has been sold and the new owners have not even addressed any of the reviews. Next time I am craving Urban Grill, I will probably go to Urban Plates and get better food. Or better, BJ's for their pork chop. I wonder what this place will be in the summertime. Another new place that has been on our list for a long time. So sad we waited this long. First off, don't let the office park (sort of) location fool you. Ya, it almost looks like a casual eatery from the outside, step inside for a fine dining experience. Food is excellent and we received 5-star service. Very attentive and sincere staff all around. Try the Crab Cakes. OK, they're $25 but these are really high-end crab cakes. They also serve an amazing almost impossible to find Pot Roast. And the Mediterranean Chicken was a hit. I have gluten, soy and dairy allergies among others so I usually get an urban burger without bun (tailored) and chopped salad. This last time my salad was so tiny. Stopped in on a whim. Outside was unassuming. Windows were heavily tinted so I couldn't see inside from the front door. They have 4 patio tables. Bar and dining room were very clean and dark-wood modern. Bathrooms were spotless and smelled amazing, so the owners are paying attention to the little things. I tried the fish and chips ($22). Chips were very good shoestring fries. The fish was beer-battered and delicious, however the three finger-sized fish sticks were a smaller portion than I expected for a main dish. Dessert menu had two cobblers, a bread pudding, a cheesecake and a berries and cream. I skipped but will try next time. Service was cordial and professional. The restaurant is hidden away in a small strip. I do hope it does well considering how tucked away it is. read more

We were in the area last night and super excited about this spot- something for everyone! It was subpar and disappointing. Parking and table for 4 was very easy on a Sunday evening. Inside was nice- some high tops and regular tables. Bathrooms were decently clean. They were playing some baseball games, which my kids enjoyed watching. Service was initially strange but then they recovered themselves by correcting a mishap. We always start with dessert- so we had the cobbler a la mode. Firstly, the ice cream portion was super small- but also, the cobbler was chewy and didn't taste sweet. It was lacking the crumbliness of a classic cobbler. We ordered chicken lettuce cups (wonderful), kids chicken strips (excellent), buttermilk fried chicken salad (great) and the sea bass special (not even remotely good). We had the waiter correct the taste (literally didn't have salt on it). They fixed it and brought it back- still not good. For $50, for a tiny portion, you'd think it would at least have some salt and pepper. read more

Worst restaurant experience I've had in quite some time. I was seated in the bar area and sat there for about 20 minutes while employee after employee walked by without acknowledging me. I finally got up to leave and asked the hostess if anyone was going to assist me. She looked around and said she would find someone--though she was also one of the employees who had walked by during that time. Maybe it was because it was Valentine's Day and I was dining solo, but either way, there's no excuse for that level of service--especially with the prices they charge. Any one of those employees should have noticed a customer who hadn't been helped and taken ownership, but none did. That says a lot about the culture and accountability. Came here with a few girl friends since it was between were we all live and figured we would give it a try. To start they had cute Christmas decorations and festive Christmas trees all around inside and we loved it. The service was a little slow, but the waitress apologized and said the other server and hostess called out, and we could tell she was busy but trying to get to everyone. We ordered our cocktails and I would recommend giving one a try. They are unique and we all loved what we ordered! We decided to order a few small plates and a bottle of wine for the table. We loved it! We sat on the patio with our dog - they have heaters so we were cozy. Our waitress, Natalie, was kind and attentive. Everything we had was delicious! My recent one star review was pulled by Yelp because the owners objected to my "lack of details"- well, here's some details... ~ Ordered a Cosmo - the bartender clearly didn't know how to make one (!!), it tasted like a glass of lime juice - undrinkable for $17. The bar is a total mess with crap everywhere... ~ The flatbread pizza - small, burnt, hard as a rock, and flavorless. Moreover, only a speckle of cheese, and a few small slices of tomatoes. $18 - a total rip off ~ Salad? Wilted greens, flavorless... $17 ~ New owners? New Manager? I didn't see anyone who was "running" the place at 6:45 on a Saturday night! My food sat on the pass for 10+minutes, and there were only about 15 people in the place - maybe that's the problem? My advice to all diners: Ignore the recent five star "exceptional dining experience" reviews (clearly written by a marketing bot). No one is giving 5 stars to this place.... The place is struggling with staff, stock, and the quality of food is appalling. Head to RMS -- plenty of good places to eat there. My advice to the owners: If you have to fake reviews, or pull reviews, it's time to find a new line of work. You won't make it to 2025. My wife made reservations for New Year's Eve. Excited because Urban Grill and Wine Bar has been one of our local faves when choosing a nicer sit-down restaurant. My wife told me ahead of time that she was thinking of the Lamb Chops, which have always been especially flavorful. Their Pork Chop has been one of my go to choices. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. During busy holidays, they cram a lot of tables into their small footprint. It's funny because we have gotten into conversations with other couples because they were so close, it's as if we were part of the same party. This time, we had a table against the wall and slightly more space between us and the next table. Waiters and busboys used the narrow aisle to get around. My wife ordered the lamb chops (medium well) and I ordered the Seafood pasta. We ordered Garlic Parmesan fries as an appetizer. After our meal, we were talking about our food and it was unanimous. Everything we had was not as good as we expected and remembered. The garlic parmesan fries were ok, but didn't taste very garlic-y. There seemed to be way more parmesan than garlic. They gave a generous portion but it wasn't as flavorful as expected. My wife ordered the lamb chops (medium) but she said it came out and was more done than expected, which was disappointing. She also noted that the chimichurri sauce was bland, not savory as expected. My seafood pasta was average. It was billed as having a lemon, butter wine sauce but I couldn't taste the wine or the lemon. The sauce was bland at best. On our way home, we were wondering if the restaurant might be under new management. It was just so disappointing, especially given the cost. When you spend $135 for a meal, you expect it to be excellent, not average. We didn't order drinks either. After a quick online search, it appears that Urban Wine and Grill is under new management (confirmed June 2024 based on other reviews I've now read). I remember ordering many times during the pandemic (takeout). We wanted to help keep them in business and the food was great. We've been a handful of times in person since but this last time gave us pause on coming back. Same name, same dishes, but definitely not prepared the same way. The new management apparently didn't see the need to prepare the dishes in the same way. Too bad as this restaurant just isn't the same as far as quality. Time to find a new goto place for our higher end dining experiences. UPDATE: my wife ordered the Biscoff Cheesecake and we took it to go. She didn't have any last night and just sampled it tonight (one night later). She said the cheesecake was good but there were pieces of plastic in the cheesecake. The owner responded to my review and assured that the culinary staff, recipes and ingredients are all the same. both times i visited the food was stellar. the layout is modern & cute & i absolutely appreciate their clean & streamlined yet aesthetically pleasing restrooms. Tannis is a Christmas angel. she's knowledgeable, fast without coming off as rushed & so welcoming. i believe another bartender who helped me was named Amanda & she was also great. i have tried the lamb chops (app size), brussel sprouts & pesto chicken pasta & was able to try my friends fried chicken salad with cornbread croutons & sweet potato fries (she loved it & the bite i had was very good; the chicken is like a breaded tender, possibly panko). the lamb is beautifully presented & very bright on the palate as well as the eye. the brussels were ok, i loved the char but they were a little dry. the pasta was my favorite, you can absolutely tell it's made fresh & the combination of sun dried tomato, fresh tomato, artichoke & fresh basil was enhanced with a plentiful & also very fresh tasting pesto sauce. while it is a good portion i never felt too heavy after eating it which can happen with pasta dishes but not this one! delish. i enjoyed moscow mules both of my visits, wonderful. i usually come here after hiking Whiting Ranch & it's a perfect lunch after a beautiful hike. don't miss this lovely gem nestled in the mountains! read more

Dined here for the first time. Wow have we been missing out on this local Foothill Ranch Gem! Arrived early with a reservation and was greeted and seated promptly. (It fills up quickly) Ambience is excellent. Not over lit and well appointed. You wouldn't know you were in a strip mall from the inside. Service was excellent and attentive. That alone sold me. Full bar available and their custom cocktails were enjoyed by everyone at the table.Calamari appetizer was perfect and well portioned. My scallops an risotto were prepared perfectly. The others has the Sea bass with raviolis and the rack of lamb. Everything was devoured. We did a yelp check in which gave us a free dessert. Crème brûlée. Again made to perfection. Prices are on par with upscale dining and reflect the quality and care given. This will be a frequent place for us from now on. read more
