Had a really good experience last year with their work making new leather seats on my Toyota so brought my 56 MG roadster in requesting they make a new tonneau cover. I like to buy my old car a Christmas present every year. Glenn's folk did an excellent job making and fitting the new cover. Careful work and no creases or wrinkles! I recently used Ray's to reupholster a bench seat for an old truck. It took a month from drop off to pickup, so plan accordingly. I have mixed feelings about the results. The quality is so professional and the price very fair; however, they took liberty in picking out fabric for the sides of the seat, which I had assumed would be the same as the fabric I'd chosen for the top, without contacting me and so I ended up with a poo brown vinyl that clashes terribly with my chosen fabric. Still no response weeks later after I asked why they did this. Avoid the disappointment I feel on an otherwise quality job and be VERY specific with your expectations! read more

All I can say is, it was a great experience! I met Glenn (owner), and for a busy guy he has so much patience. Had the driver's seat replaced for my 2012 Jet Liberty Jeep. Without boring anyone with what happened to the seat, I seriously would not trust anybody but Ray's (especially Glenn). He gave me options and he not only (and his staff) did a great job, he was fair and totally dependable. Rays reupholstered my antique Mission oak dining room chairs, which involved tightening up some wobbly frames, filling in old tack holes so new tacks would hold, repairing/retying the 100 year old springs, all new stuffing and canvas, then new fabric and tacks and welting. NOT an easy job to do right, but Rays did a fabulous job and finished before the due date. I'm a VERY picky person :) who will be taking other furniture to Rays in the future. I have had a horrible experience with these folks. They had my couch for seven months; completely did it wrong and not per our discussions and instructions, wasted very expensive fabric, left the thread ends uncut throughout the pillows, they were supposed to wash the fabric before using it - they did not and hosts of other poor workmanship. Now, the owner is refusing to make it right. It will be necessary for me to bring this to the Court for resolution. They have NO clue about designer anything and the owner pays no attention to the work being done by his employees. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere unless you want a terrible outcome like mine. read more

I went down to his shop, despite the reviews, and had to walk away. His shop, specifically the office, was disgusting. Leaving my nice car at this place is not happening. Bad part of town, the owner was gone at 10:00 am on a Tuesday, the helper stated he was out playing golf and not returning till "tomorrow, I think"... Anyway, leaving anything there is a problem, awful part of town. It's your choice, a good shop or this place. read more

I had Ray's recover a motorcycle seat for me and they did a great job. The seat needed to be shaved down a little to help with lowering the seat height for my wife. Also, we decided to go with the gripper fabric because the bike is a dual-sport and sees a fair amount of off-road time. Ray's guys were able to replicate the passenger grab-strap at the back of the seat, just like factory! The only reason they're not getting 5 stars is because communication is a little slow, but that's forgivable considering the great work they do. Thanks Ray & team! read more

Needed a zipper on a guitar bag repaired. My tailor couldn't do it and recommended I find an upholsterer. Tried a few who couldn't do it locally in Santa Cruz, so drove down to Watsonville to see Ray. He took one look at it and solved the problem in less than 5 minutes. Then he wouldn't even take any money for fixing it! Wished us a Merry Christmas and sent us on our way. This guy knows his stuff and is super nice. I've taken 3 motorcycle seats here. 2 dirt bike, and one street bike. All three times I have been over joyed by the quality and price I get from Ray. I dropped off my seats on a Thursday evening and explained to Ray how I needed them back by Monday or Tuesday to get outta town. Family and I have used Ray's for years. Prices always reasonable and good workmanship. Last vehicle I took to them was a 46 willys jeep. Stock seats. Was told if I kept it covered it would last 10 years or so. Well, it was covered maybe 50 percent of the time and used for hunting, fishing and four wheeling. Guess what , 20 years later they still are there! I don't understand the two bad reviews, maybe from the competition, who knows. Anyway, bringing my 08 GMC there tomorrow. read more

It was a little slow but the work was amazingly professional and for what I thought was a reasonable price, So now I've used them three times and each time although a bit slow the work has been done very well.
